Chapter 7
Khloe's POV:
I gawked as Nico and I approached the tall birch doors that apparently lead into Nico's room.
Xander and Doe had already gone to Xander's room which was apparently on the complete opposite side of this floor, and Marcus went away with someone to get his records sorted out.
I quickly noticed the same thumbprint mechanism on the door as we approached it
"Who else had access to your room?" I asked as he placed his thumb on it.
"Just me, Klo. And you pretty soon," he answered reassuringly.
Klo?
I blushed at the new nickname while Nico opened the door
"Okay good," I responded as I stepped in.
My jaw immediately dropped to the floor.
Every single aspect of this room doubled the last.
The length, the width, even the height
Not to mention how surprisingly clean it was.
A very large and organized L-shaped desk sat in the left corner beside me, a stocked bookshelf that covered pretty much the entire left wall coming after it.
A portion of the bookshelf was cut out for a door that I'm assuming was where the closet is.
His ridiculously huge bed covered entirely with pillows sat in the middle of the back wall, two towering glass doors with pitch black curtains on either side of it, which apparently lead to a balcony.
Another lone door was the only thing on the right wall, but it looked like something else used to be there before Nico left.
To my right against the front wall sat a dark brick fireplace. In front of it sat two very large...
"beanbags?" I finished my thought out loud.
Nico turned his head from the middle of the room where h had picked up our bags that a slave had dropped off earlier.
He laughed a bit, "Yeah. I kind of took advantage of the fact that I could have whatever I want."
"So you chose beanbags?" I questioned, mirroring his laugh.
"Well, yea. Whos doesn't want a beanbag?"
I shrugged not really having an answer to that.
"I guess you have a point," I said as I began walking over to them.
They both looked like they could easily fit three people.
I plopped myself face-down onto one of them, instantly falling in love with the soft fabric.
The way that I sank into it kind of made me sad that laying on my back wasnt really an option so I could more fully relax.
"Y'know that side of the room is pretty bare," Nico said.
I pushed myself up onto my elbows, seeing that he was talking about the right side.
I also saw how he was standing by his bed, practically shoving most of the pillows off of it
"We can make that side into your little art studio if you want." He offered.
My eyes went round as Nico continued ridding the surface of his bed with pillows, mumbling something about how no living creature needs this many pillows.
"You really don't have to do that," I said.
"Oh come on," Nico began, "I don't have a window sill in this room for you to draw on. I gotta make up for that somehow."
I bit the inside of my lip as I realized that he actually wanted to do this for me.
"Won't anyone who sees it get suspicious?" I asked.
He just shrugged as he finished what he was doing and began making his way towards me.
"I can always just tell them its mine."
Well, I guess that would work.
I pushed myself up so that I was sitting on my knees, facing him.
"Then, if you really want to do that, I would very much like that."
Nico sat beside me, cupping the back of my head to pull me into a soft kiss.
He was smiling as he pulled away.
"Just tell me what you want and I'll make it happen." He said.
I bit my bottom lip to try to hide my own smile as he laid himself fully down onto the bean bag, stretching out his arms before inviting me to join him.
Of course, I accepted his offer, shifting myself so that I was laying on his chest.
I relaxed fully into him, letting my eyes flutter shut as I breathed in his scent.
With all of these new things and events happening its felt good to take a little breather.
"So did the whole family reunion thing go better than you expected?" I asked.
Nico's hand began to trail its way down my hair.
"Actually, yes. I was expecting my father to get on my case about not bringing home some vampire chick right away."
"He kind of looked like he wanted to," I added quietly.
Nico barked out a laugh.
"I could see that he was definitely annoyed. I'll probably hear about it sooner or later."
He talked about this so casually... It was weird.
I guess he was just used to his father being mad at him.
As terrible as that sounded...
"At least your mom seems nice," I said.
He let out a small sigh and somehow I just knew he had a smile on his face.
"Yeah, She's always been a really kindhearted person towards everyone and everything. Plus she really evens out my father's anger. I guess that's one of the reasons she rules this place so well."
This place certainly did give off a different vibe than Bronwyn's did.
"Oh and also," he started, turning his body so that he was facing me, let me lay on his bicep while his other arm wrapped around me. "I'm sorry about what happened earlier when I was trying to intimidate the guard."
I blinked at him, mostly just being surprised that he was the one that brought it up.
"Oh... It's ok. It was just a little... interesting is all."
Nico was quiet at my choice of words, a bit of guilt showing on his face.
"Really? It didn't hurt, right? I tried to only focus it on the guard, but It's been a while since I've even been able to do that so I guess I just..." His words died off.
I brought one of my hands up his neck and through his hair.
"No, it didn't hurt. It was just... honestly a really scary experience in the heat of the moment," I admitted.
"I'm sorry. If anything I should have at least warned you about it, but I didn't even remember that I could do that until Xander suggested I do it in the main room."
"Believe me, its fine, Nico. But what even is it anyway?"
"It's just a way that royals assert their dominance. Kind of like how alphas in animal packs fight for it, we just exert our additional power outwardly into a pheromone to affect the nervous system of any living creature around us. Or... focus it all one person if we know how to use it properly." He grew quieter towards the end of the sentence.
Oh... Interesting.
"So Lord Bronwyn has this ability?" I asked.
"Mhm."
"Why didn't he ever use it?"
"He did just not on me. A Lord using it on another cities heir was just a perfect way to stir up trouble."
"What about Layla?"
I felt him stiffen a bit at the mention of her name, his grip on me tightening.
"Yeah she has it too, but since she's the fourth born in her family, her additional power is so low that it probably wouldn't feel like anything."
"Interesting" I spoke quietly.
Vampires were strangely intriguing to me. Especially with all of these little details that come with being royal blood.
It was nice having someone that could actually answer all of my wonders.
"Any more questions?" Nico asked.
I looked up at him, seeing how he actually genuinely wanted to answer any questions that I had.
It almost looked like he wanted me to ask more.
Although all of my current questions had just been answered and just one remained that's been here ever since we entered his room.
I looked back down as an embarrassed blush crossed the bridge of my nose.
Gosh, I can't believe I'm about to say this.
"Wanna finish off what we started in the limo?"
