At the dinner table in the encanto household

*Everyone was in the table, everyone noticed that 2 Members of there families were missing. Luisa took a deep breath and got up*

Luisa:I...have news about Dolores and Mirabel

Alma:I take it this has to do on why there not on the table?

*Alma said looking up at her granddaughter, alma looked absolutely exhausted from dealing with the other leaders of the encanto*

Luisa: yeah, as you all know Mirabel does a lot of favors for the community. From helping the butcher hunt for the meat, to babysitting, musical entertainment, she even helps collect the money for the church,

Agustin: honey your rambling

*Agustin said gently, Luisa sighed and nodded, she bite down on her lower lip a little before she Continued again*

Luisa: right, well one of the favors she does is delivering mail to the post office

Julieta: encanto has a post office?

Pepa:.....it doesn't

*After a few moments the other members of the madrigal family realized what Pepa and Julieta realized*

Luisa:yeah, one of the other things she does
For the encanto is go to San Jose And delivers the mail to the post office. She'll be gone for a few days probably 2-3 weeks since Dolores is with her

Antonio:why would it take so long?

*Antonio asked, he's used to his mommy going to san Jose, and she always came back after 3-4 days so to spend time with him more. Luisa pointed to the other missing person*

Luisa: because Dolores is with her

Pepa: she's what?!

*Everyone could hear the thunderstorm starting outside, to everyone's surprise alma didn't say "Pepa control yourself", she was honestly to tired to care about a little rain*

Luisa:I said Dolores is with her, I mean it makes sense, there going to be married by years end, this will be a good way for them to bond, and grow closer

Antonio:but why would they take so long?

*Antonio said frowning, now that he knows Dolores is with his mother, he felt bitter that Mirabel took her instead of him to San Jose*

Luisa:because Dolores is not a Mary Sue

*Luisa said with a small snicker, no one else laughed since it was an inside joke of her and Mirabel. Luisa coughed a little*

Luisa;right, anyways. It'll take longer since Mirabel will have to take care of Dolores, take the safer route, and once there. Well I can see them staying a couple of extra days to enjoy San Jose

Julieta:you say it as if you've been there honey

*Julieta said gently, a bit of fear and concern inside her, decades of being the child of alma made her and Pepa fear the world outside the encanto*

Luisa:oh I've never been, but Mirabel has brought pictures from the place, she even has a cámara at Mr. Gallardo's home

Alma:why... nevermind

*Alma said with a sigh, she was about to ask something she already knew the answer "it's there because there was no room to keep it in the nursery"*

Luisa:but yeah, they'll be gone for 3....weeks....oh that cheeky little minx

*Luisa said with a chuckle since she now realized that Mirabel threw her a little trick, not harassment like camilo's "pranks" but an actual prank where both parties can get a good chuckle out of it*

Pepa:but the outside is too dangerous

Luisa:more dangerous then what these two have done to her?

*Luisa said glancing at Isabela and Camilo, Isabela scowled at Luisa and Camilo just rolled her eyes*

Luisa: oh wait, you were talking about Dolores weren't you?

Julieta:of course she was, when has she cared about her niece

*Julieta said with a scowl almost identical to Isabela, Pepa scoffed and was about to say something snarky, but a coughed interrupted them*

Alma:girls please, I have a headache dealing with the council as it is. Don't make it worse for me

Julieta & pepa:yes mamá

*Both of them grumbled, alma looked at them as if they were the children, she instantly regretted it since it reminded her that there was a child missing, her only son, with a sigh alma placed a false neutral face to not show any sadness behind her eyes*

Luisa:anyways, Dolores will be fine. Mirabel takes this journey every month, more people send out letter then one would think in this village.

Camilo:so Mirabel Will be gone for a few weeks, how horrible

*Camilo said with a small smirk, and completely sarcastic, he winced when he felt someone kick his shins, he glared at his younger brother who was scowling back at him*

Antonio:you're right, it is horrible, why couldn't you go instead of her?

Felix:Antonio that was uncalled for

Antonio: but what he said about Mirabel wasn't?

*Antonio said with a deeper scowl looking at his parent only in blood, Felix looked like he sucked on a lime and did the only thing he could do, he looked down on his food and just ate*

Luisa:it is, kinda fun to think about, imagine being able to explore the world outside of the encanto

*The third generation of madrigal all thought of it with wonder, but the second and first didn't see it that way*

Alma:why would you want to leave when you have everything you need here?

Luisa:yeah, all except a man....

*Luisa slapped her mouth with a big blush on her face as the words slipped out, everyone was surprised at the slip, Julieta's surprise quickly turned into a bright smile as she dashed next to Luisa*

Julieta:oh don't worry Luisa, I'm sure I can find you a man to love you!

Agustin:over my dead body, 2 of my girls are getting married this year alone, leave me one to be daddy's little princess for a bit longer

*Agustin said with an overdramatic sigh, Luisa kept muttering something unintelligible trying to deny what she said, Julieta was going on and on of what kind of man did Luisa want. Alma rested her head on her hand looking on at the antics of the blue side of the family. Completely missing what was going on under the table. Isabela had a forced smile on her face while under the table she was holding her thigh so tightly that her nails pierced her skin and a bit of blood started leaking out*

Isabela"mirabel can leave the encanto whenever she wants, Luisa can date normally, you can have that too if you just speak up, just tell them you don't love Mariano"

*Isabela heard the tiny voice in her head trying desperately to free herself, sadly it failed as Isabela remained silent. She's been the golden child since she was 4 you can't heal toxic traits in just a few weeks, much less when the individual refuses to admit there's a problem*

Later in everyone's bedroom

With Pepa and Felix

Pepa: honey, are we bad parents?

Felix:where did that come from?

*Felix asked confused as he looked at his wife, both of them in there sleeping outfits, Pepa sighed with a shrug*

Peoa:I... I don't know, I just see how Julieta Is with her daughters, I can't remember the last time I was like that with Dolores. Then there's Antonio's little outbursts, and camilo's pranks. I just feel like we're....

*Pepa just hugged herself, she couldn't bring herself to say it, since if she said it if would become true, at least in her mind. Felix sighed, he walked to Pepa and grabbed her chin, he raised her head and gave her a loving kiss. He released her and gave her a soft smile*

Felix:of course not, your a great mother, Camilo and Antonio are just being boys, there's nothing wrong with that. Everyone is just making a mountain out of a molehill, you'll see when there older they'll look back at those pranks and laugh

*Felix the eternal simp said to his wife, hating to seeing her upset, Pepa sighed and nodded, not fully believing him.*

Felix:as for Dolores, she's mad yes. But soon she'll see that this is for the best, you have to admit, Mirabel really is loved in this community, more then any of us, Dolores will be loved by association at least, and she won't be so lonely, even now instead of being alone in her room she's with Mirabel, she's not alone honey

Pepa:I...I guess your right

*Pepa said with a sigh, they both laid down and went to bed*

Meanwhile with Julieta and Agustín

Agustín:Juli what do you have there? And please don't tell me it's what I think it is

Julieta:it's absolutely what you think it is

*Julieta said with a big grin, on the table Julieta was writing names or eligible single people around Luisa's age, Agustin gave a playful groan as he hugged Julieta from behind*

Agustín:why do you hate me?

Julieta:because you limit my coffee intake?

*Julieta said with a. Small grin, while Pepa and Felix were both in a sad state, Julieta and Agustín couldn't be further from the truth*

Julieta:oh relax, I won't start till next year, you can have your princess. Sigh I hope Mirabel is ok

Agustín: I'm sure she's fine, she's a camper like her daddy, of course I never took her camping but still

*Agustin said rubbing the back of his head over that fact, but he couldn't change the past. Both of them got a little sad, but that sadness changed into determination to change that*

Meanwhile with Mirabel

Mirabel"note to self, buy a second sleeping bag in San Jose"

*Mirabel said as her face was in-between Dolores breast, this little trip was really an eye opener for the both of them, Dolores is starting to realize how athletic and adventurous Mirabel is, and Mirabel is learning how petty and clingy Dolores is, especially when she sleeps*

Dolores:oh Mariano you tell the best poems....

*Dolores said in her sleep, Mirabel rolled her eyes so hard they went to the back of her skull. Then a evil idea grew inside her brain*

Mirabel:oh Dolores we can't do this. For I'm in love with another

*Mirabel said doing her best Mariano impression, mirabel had to control her laughter when Dolores started to squirm*

Dolores:Isabela doesn't deserve you.....

Mirabel:it is not Isabela who I love, I fell in love with James Jenkins. Oh how his kisses taste so sweet

*Mirabel quickly closed her eyes and pretended to be asleep when she felt Dolores flinch herself away, she even gave a small "eep". Mirabel was a small internal smirk as she fell asleep*

Early Morning

Dolores:why do we have to do this so god damned early?

*Dolores whined softly, she and Mirabel were fishing, mirabel already caught 3 fishes and Dolores zero, since she kept dozing off*

Mirabel:because the best time to get fish is on early morning or late evening, and I need to restack our food supplies, after this we still need to forage for berries and roots before heading on our way. There's this lovely strawberry field not to far from her and

*Mirabel started to ramble on, but to Dolores it might as well be "Wah wah woh wah wah" as she started dozing off, a pull form her string woke her up and she pulled the fish out. Dolores smiled the rush of finally getting a fish waking her up, she looked at Mirabel who was smiling at her proudly, Mirabel grabbed the fish and place it with the other who's last remaining minutes will be living in a bucket full of water*

Dolores: shouldn't we kill them?

Mirabel:we will, but not yet. First we catch more, 2 of them will be our breakfast with some bread and dried apricot, and tea. The other fishes while you sleep I'll be Canning the rest of the fishes, so that we don't have to fish on our journey the rest of the way to San Jose

*Mirabel started talking about the canning process and again all Dolores could hear was the "Wah wah woh wah wah" as she started dozing of. Mirabel stopped talking when she felt a head on her shoulders, she looked and Dolores had fallen asleep, Mirabel grew a small smile and kissed her forehead, she took Dolores fishing rod and started fishing by herself with both rods*

Scene change

Inside Dolores dream

*We see her in a gown, she was dancing with Mariano as music played around them*

*Dolores couldn't help but sigh, this was perfect. Just perfect*

*that is until another light came into the room, she glanced and saw another woman*

* she was wearing a mask that covered her eyes, she was wearing a stunning red dress and was walking towards her*

*The mask woman who turned out was the one singing the lovely music, made it to Dolores and pushed Mariano out of the way*

*Dolores was swept off her feet as the masked woman started dancing with her, Dolores couldn't pull away, she couldn't even look away from the smaller woman as they danced together*

*The masked woman grabbed Dolores Chin and started pulling her closer and closer to her, soon there lips would meet*

*The world started to disappear as Dolores woke up just before there lips met*

Real world

*When next Dolores awoke, she had he back against the trees and the sleeping bag used as a blanket, she looked around for Mirabel and found her doing something, she was also the one who brought singing to her dreams*

Mirabel:Que en el mismo cielo me vuelvo a morir Si Dios me quita la vida
Antes que a ti

*Mirabel finished, and kept working. with a yawn Dolores got up and walked next to her, with her hands behind her back*

Dolores:what are you doing?

Mirabel:putting all the guts and organs in this cloth so I can throw it to where the wolves usually walk

*Mirabel said casually, Dolores nodded and kept looking, Mirabel started counting down in her mind*

Mirabel"3...2....1"

Dolores:wait what?!

Mirabel:I know you heard me quite well, and before you start. No I can't just leave it here since the scent will attract animals, animals we don't want to face when we walk back to encanto, so this IS the safe option.

*Mirabel said with a stern tone so that Dolores wouldn't try to argue, Dolores sighed and looked down, she found herself wearing something weird, a necklace made out of cinnamon sticks*

Dolores:so, why am I wearing this?

*Dolores asked as she looked down at the cinnamon stick necklace she was wearing, Mirabel finished her own cinnamon stick necklace and placed it on herself*

Mirabel:i mean you don't have to, I'm sure the mosquitoes will love having some nice blood for breakfast. Cinnamon is poison to them and other bugs, so you wear that and they won't eat you. I put it on you when you slept so you wouldn't be scratching herself the rest of the way to San Jose

Dolores:ah, thank you I appreciate it

*Dolores said a little embarrassed that Mirabel the girl younger then her by 7 years was doing so much, while Dolores felt as if she was just making the trip harder for mirabel. Mirabel backed everything up and put on the backpack*

Mirabel:alright let's get going. You are gonna love the strawberry field, it's so pretty, and there's even a small river next do it

Dolores:sounds lovely, if you want I can hold the bag

*Mirabel raised an eyebrow and handed the backpack to Dolores, Dolores grabbed it with a big smile and the bag and put in on her back*

Mirabel:when you get tired tell me and I'll hold the backpack

Dolores: you've done more then enough, I'm not as useless as I may seem now let's go!

*Dolores said completely confident waking east, she stopped and turned around seeing Mirabel there with her arm crossed and a small but oh so very smug smirk on her face. Dolores started to blush as she walked back to Mirabel*

Dolores:it wasn't east was it?

Mirabel:nop, if you go east you'll just be met with an old miner's cave. Come on it's this way

*Mirabel said with a shrug as she walked ahead of Dolores heading north. Dolores followed behind her blush not leaving her face, from losing whatever pride she managed to build up*

Scene change

Dolores was losing the war, the more she walked with the back bag on her back, the heavier it got. She glanced at Mirabel picking strawberries, she looked so calm, so unburden, one could almost forget all the injustices the madrigal family had done to her*

Dolores"you are not free from sin Dolores"

*The little voice in Dolores head said, Dolores sighed softly, since she knew that tiny voice spoke the truth. So many times Dolores heard Mirabel crying and did nothing. The very thought brought a bitter frown on her face remembering the awful things Dolores used to think whenever Mirabel would cry herself to sleep*

Mirabel: what's up?

Dolores:eep!

*Dolores yelped And jumped a little from where she was sitting, she was so trapped inside her mind that she didn't see Mirabel walking up to her*

Dolores:it's....it's nothing, just thinking of.... things back in the encanto

Mirabel:can't be good things, you've been scowling for s good 5 minutes now

*Mirabel said gently as she sat next to Dolores, she placed her hand on top of Dolores's hand for support and Dolores sighed*

Dolores:guess I would be s hypocrite if I told you to confide in me and i won't do the same to you huh?

Mirabel:hm, maybe a little

*Mirabel said with a small grin, Dolores chuckled softly before sighing even softer*

Dolores:it's just....you seem more happy out here, more...free

Mirabel:I wouldn't say I'm more happy, I would like to think I'm just as happy in encanto

*Mirabel said with a shrug, she smiled but quickly returned to a normal expression since it was going to be that fake smile that Dolores knows how to spot out*

Dolores:you know what I mean, you seem more... Happy, real happy

Mirabel:well, I'm not gonna lie and say I'm not, happy that I'm away from our parents for a bit, I love them. But I just need some space. But I'm not happy that I'm out, I'm happy that your here with me

*Dolores eyes widen in surprised and she looked at mirabel, Dolores having a small blush on her cheeks. Mirabel hugged one leg resting her head on her knee while looking at Dolores with a smile*

Mirabel:any time someone in the family shows interest in what I do just....makes me feel really happy

Dolores:why do you have to be so.....you

*Dolores said with a sigh, but couldn't help but let a smile grace her lips, Mirabel scooted closer to Dolores and rested her head on her shoulder*

Mirabel:because you want me to be real, no hiding behind masks, so now you have to deal with me, all of me

*Mirabel said with a cheeky smile, Dolores chuckled and nodded her head in agreement. She did say that, so she shouldn't complain*
