Now

*After half an hour of searching Mirabel was able to clothed Dolores for the journey, they walked out of there room and went to Luisa's room*

With Luisa a few seconds before

*Luisa woke up feeling well rested after Mirabel told her that they had a day off. Luisa sat down on the bed and looked at the book, that red book that Mirabel gifted her so long ago, that red book that's bright red color turned a dull red from being in direct sunlight for years, that dull red book that's collected enough dust that the redness was hard to see since*

Luisa:ok....no excuses this time

*Luisa said grabbing the book, Luisa heard a small rip as the ink of the back cover melted and glued itself to the nightstand. Luisa cleaned the dust off the book and was finally gonna read it when she heard a knock on the door. She sighed and walked do the door opening it, she saw Mirabel there, and was surprised when Dolores was behind her wearing a similar outfit to Mirabel*

Luisa:hey Mirabel, is it that time of the month already?

Mirabel:yup, but since....of my own free will, I've decided to bring Dolores along. I'll be gone till probably a couple of days

*Mirabel said with a forced smile, since she knew Dolores had a smug smile on her face*

Mirabel;if someone complains tell them I'm taking Dolores with me so that we can grow a stronger bond or some shit. Ow!

*Mirabel winced when Luisa slapped her on the back of the head, Luisa had a stern look on her face*

Luisa:you know you are not allowed to curse

Mirabel:yeah yeah. You didn't have to hit so hard

*Mirabel grumpled, Luisa chuckle kneeling down and kissed her little sister's forehead giving her a soft smile*

Luisa:I do it because I care, now go on I'll cover for you

Mirabel:thank Luisa I'll see you tomorrow. And don't worry I'll finally get you a new book, since you loved the last one so much

*Mirabel said, unintentionally shooting an arrow of guilt straight to Luisa's heart, since to not hurt her feelings, Luisa lied to Mirabel that she read and loved the book. Mirabel waved Luisa and she and Dolores walked away, Luisa closed the door and walked to the bed, sitting down she had a determined look on her face as she grabbed the book*

Luisa:ok, I can do this, it's my day off, I can totally read and finish this book before Mirabel comes back, let's start, title. War and peace by León Tolstói

*Luisa flipped to the last page of the book just to see the last number on the page and she paled significantly*

Luisa:1,225..... Oh fuck me

*Luisa muttered as she turned the book back to the first page, she was surprised when she saw Mirabel's handwriting*

Mirabel's letter:to Luisa, the best sister anyone could ask for, I love you Luisa. I hope you'll like this book. I can't wait for us to discuss it!

*Another guilt arrow goes straight into Luisa's heart as she rereads what Mirabel wrote especially the last part*

Luisa:oh my God she must think that I didn't really like it!

*Luisa thought horrified as she flips the page and starts reading as fast as she could*

Meanwhile with miralores

*We see our arranged couple walking out of casita and just letting the natural sunlight hit them as they walk to the church. Dolores looked at mirabel with a smile and a raised eyebrow*

Dolores:god who know little Mirabel could be so mean, you know she didn't read it

Mirabel:of course I know she didn't read it. But come on, you've gotta be slightly curious at how far she'll get before we come back

*Mirabel said with a small smirk, since yes she knew Luisa didn't have time to read it, so Mirabel decided to have a bit of fun with that information.*

Mirabel:besides, there's nothing wrong with a bit of a playful prank. Only unlike Camilo, my pranks are never physical

*Mirabel muttered the last part, a pointless endeavor really, since Dolores didn't have her earmuffs and she heard her as clear as day, she frowned and kept glancing at her face*

Dolores "at least I can take solace, that my home made cream made all those scars almost invisible"

*Dolores thought before grabbing Mirabel's hand and giving it a squeeze, Mirabel smiled at her and gave Dolores a small squeeze back*

With Pedro

*We see him looking at his family from above with a soft smile, looking how his family is changing after so much pressure, they were slowly getting better, well at least some of them*

Pedro:thank goodness, that alma is finally changing so much....but I'm still on the fence with her forcing a marriage on Dolores and Mirabel

*Pedro said looking at his granddaughters walking together hand in hand making the most of there situation. Pedro will always love alma, of that there's no question. But  even for him the arranged marriage was crazy*

Pedro:still better then the alternative I suppose....

*Pedro said to himself thinking of another version of his family where Mirabel lost an arm and Isabela ended up shooting alma*

Pedro:let's hope my timeline ends up better then that one

*Pedro thought as he continued to watch his family praying that the yellow wakes up and gets better*

Back to earth

*Mirabel and Dolores made it to the church and walked inside, Dolores looked around the church, finding it a bit creepy seeing the church Empy, and not having the sun hitting the glass just right"

Alves:ah, welcome my children. What can I help you with today?

*Dolores jumped and turned around, seeing the leader of there church father Alves Maxwell*

Dolores"still as creepy as ever, how does he walk without making a noise?!"

*Dolores thought, Alves looked at Dolores and smiled at the girl*

Alves:ah, Dolores madrigal. What a rare treat to see you here this time of day

* Alves said in a gentle voice, Dolores on the other hand was hiding just a little behind Mirabel, dolores never liked the father of the church, the man has never done anything to earn such negative emotions but he was just so creepy in Dolores eyes, since he could somehow slip by her super hearing. Mirabel walked up to him with a smile*

Mirabel:hello father Maxwell, I'm just here for the mail. And maybe a small blessing since I have to take this one with me

Dolores;hey!

*Dolores said pinching Mirabel's cheek, mirabel did a mix of a whine and a giggle since she said it in a teasing tone, Maxwell walked further inside with Mirabel following, and Dolores behind Mirabel her hands on mirabel's shoulders*

Alves:ah yes, here you go, rather big stack this month, between the 3 of us, I think someone in this pile has a secret family

Mirabel:it has to be Mr. Martinez he's always donating so much money to the church, clearly guilty of something if you ask me. But my father Alves, gossiping in the house of God? How scandalous

*Mirabel said with a giggle, Alves joined in the laughter. Dolores was freaked out by the man's laugh, she grabbed the bag with all the letter and dragged mirabel out of there. Mirabel waved goodbye the Alves who in tern waved back. Once outside Dolores shivered*

Dolores:god that man gives me the creeps

Mirabel:come on, he's a good man. He's just awkward when it comes to things that aren't the Bible, well that and Protestants boy does he hate them

*Mirabel said with a shrugged, sure Alves wasn't the best at socializing but he was still a good person. Aka he didn't ignore Mirabel and always made sure she felt seen. Dolores just shakes her head*

Dolores: don't care, anyone that can slip pass my super hearing is creepy in my book

Mirabel;then I guess I'm just creepy too then

*Mirabel said, her voice raised a little louder. Dolores turned her head to deny that, but to her surprise Mirabel wasn't there. She looked around and saw Mirabel waiting for her ahead. She walked so fast and so quietly that Dolores didn't noticed it. Dolores huffed and walked at a faster rate to catch up*

Dolores:you don't count, it's cute when you do it. It's just plain creepy when he does it

Mirabel:fine, you have the right of your own opinion. For me on the other hand he's an awkward but well meaning man. Who I'm pretty sure had a crush on tio Bruno

Dolores:what?!

*Dolores screamed and snapped her head to Mirabel, who again disappeared ahead. Mirabel looked behind her with a small smirk*

Mirabel:oh you want more information on that juicy, juicy gossip? Well you'll have to catch me to get it!

*Mirabel said with a giggle as she ran away, Dolores gave a small amused huff and ran to catch her. Overall the first start of there journey started off great*

Later

*They were walking for a long while, Mirabel was doing fine her body used to this kind of travel, Dolores on the other hand.....*

Mirabel:let take a break, I'm getting a bit tired

Dolores:oh thank God.... I...I mean you sure? Cause I can keep going

*Dolores stuttered with a fake smile, Dolores main job being just listening, most of the time she didn't have to do a lot of physical exercises. Even with her hobbies, she only had to walk 5 minutes out of encanto to find the ingredients she needed, or ask Isabela if she was really lazy. They've been walking for a good 3 hour. Mirabel sat down and patted the spot next to her on the fallen tree. Dolores sat down, Mirabel grabbed the bag and opened it, she took an orange from the bag and started peeling it*

Mirabel:if this is too much for you, it's not too late to turn back you know

Dolores:n..no no. I can do it, just....give me i minute, I was stupid I didn't think it would be so long

*Dolores said as Mirabel gave her the unpeeled orange, Dolores took and and started eating it, while Mirabel grabbed a second orange and started the peeling process again*

Mirabel"I can't tell her that I would already be half way there, she'll feel so bad about that

Mirabel:hm. It can be quite the journey hense why I'm the one that always does it, I'm the youngest in the group, so I have more free time and more energy then the adults

*Mirabel said thinking of what she'll be able to show Dolores once they reach San Jose*

Dolores:still, what about when you first started? You expect me to believe that a 10 year old girl did this walk by herself?

Mirabel; ay, of course not. When I first started, sometimes father Alves would go with me, sometimes it would be Jeanette. Or Amy Jenkins, hell even  James Jenkins would come with me every now and then,

*Dolores frowned since she wasn't stupid, she could read in-between the lines, "other people gave me more attention then my own family" she quickly shook her head when her brain caught up to the last person*

Dolores:wait wait wait, James?! That asshole that tried to flirt with me James?!

Mirabel:yup, like I said he likes older woman. But with me? He's....decent company if you don't mind him glancing at older woman in San Jose,  heh one time he was so busy looking at a woman that he lost me and freaked out looking all over and screaming my name,

*Mirabel said with an amused smile, James had his faults yes, but that boy did act like a caring older sibling, even to a girl that doesn't share any blood*

Dolores:still gives me the creeps. And I don't want you anywhere near him if Luisa or me isn't there with you

Mirabel:my, didn't know you could be so dominant

*Mirabel snickered as she ate her orange, Dolores moved a bit away, since while Dolores ate it slice by slice, Mirabel just bite down at it, like an apple getting juice everywhere*

Mirabel: let's change the subject how do you think they'll react when they realize we're gone for a few days?

Dolores:oh I expect a storm coming to the encanto courtesy of the weather witch

*Mirabel looked at her with a raised eyebrow, Dolores just shrugged and ate another slice*

Dolores:I'm not you Mira, I don't care if we don't get along, after what she and everyone else did to us? They can all rot in hell for all I care

Mirabel:you don't mean that, your angry and rightfully so. But they're still your family, trust me I know How frustrating it is, everyone talking over you, no one listening to what you have to say, so eventually you just....stop talking and do your own thing

*Dolores sighed and scooted closer to Mirabel, she hugged Mirabel's shoulder giving it a rub*

Dolores: sorry you had to go through that. But again, I'm not you, you were raised by Julieta I was raised by Pepa, she raised me to hold a grudge

Mirabel:.....so the time Camilo and me painted on your favorite dress?

*Dolores gave a sweet smile at Mirabel who  trembled since Dolores's hold on her shoulder became tighter*

Dolores: I'm still angry about that yes, don't worry I'm sure you'll find a way to make it up to me

Mirabel:hm. I'm gonna go start a fire

*Mirabel said as she got up and started walking around to collect wood. Dolores chuckled since that was a flimsy excuse to escape Dolores the petty*

Dolores;oh? It's still sunny Mirabel, why would you need that?

Mirabel:to make orange peel tea, I'm not gonna let those peels go to waste

*Dolores hummed as she rested her head on her hands looking at mirabel work, the evil grin never leaving her face*

Dolores "gotta admit, it's fun to tease Mirabel like that, she looked like a scared puppy"

*Dolores said with a mental giggle, now don't get her the wrong way, she's just a cat person....on second thoughts she is very evil*

Meanwhile in encanto

*Luisa was 1/10 of the way finished with the book, she was cheating a little, since she was skimming a page or two, not reading a few words here and there. Luisa stopped and yelp when Casita push her out of the room*

Luisa:what the hell Casita....

*Luisa muttered,she slowly got up and dusted herself, she looked around and her eyes squinted on the reason she was YEET out of her room*

Luisa"so that's why, argh even on a day off they can't let well enough alone"

*Luisa thought angrily, she walked like an elephant barely making a sound till her hand was firmly on the perpetrator. Camilo flinched since he knew that hand all too well*

Camilo:l..Luisa, I thought you were out doing some chore

Luisa:we both know we have the day off, and really? trying to pick Dolores & Mirabel's room. On a sentient house, you are really stupid you know that

*Luisa said with an unamused expression, Camilo sighed and waved his hand for her to carry on, she lifted him and started walking*

Camilo:do I even weigh anything to you?

Luisa:no, it's like holding a couple of grapes. Thanks Casita

*Luisa said as Casita opened the door for her. Luisa raised Camilo and started aiming*

Luisa;remember to protect your face

Camilo:thanks

*Camilo said calmly as Luisa used all her strength to throw her cousins away as far as possible, he looked like a rock jumping on the riverbed. Luisa sighed and turned around*

Luisa:now I can get back to my.....

*Luisa stopped once she was inside, she pinched the bridge of her nose as she saw her mother trying to open Dolores & Mirabel's door*

Luisa:I should've asked to go with them. I bet they would've let me read on the walk there

*Luisa muttered bitterly as with a purposely big sigh that made Julieta flinch, Luisa looked up at her with an annoyed smile*

Luisa:hello mother, why pray tell are you doing?

Julieta:o..oh, um...I was just... gonna see if they had any dirty laundry to clean?

*Julieta said with a nervous smile, Luisa walked up the stairs and crossed her arms, looking at her mother with a raised eyebrow*

Luisa:last i checked, you haven't done a load of laundry in years, it's me and mirabel who takes care of the female laundry, while Camilo and Felix takes care of the males laundry. So want to try that again?

*Julieta felt a blush of embarrassment come  to her cheeks, she frowned feeling peeved that Luisa was treating her as if she was some kind of child, who got caught doing something naughty*

Julieta:i...I..I don't have to justify what I do in this house!

Luisa:you do when you're trying to open Dolores & mirabel's room without permission. Your not gonna find it there you know

*Luisa said matter of factly, Julieta raised an eyebrow confused*

Luisa:Mirabel takes that journal everywhere. So it's with her right now, but thank you for showing me I have to be a light sleeper, to make sure people don't go into my little sister's room at night, now

*Luisa pointed firmly Julieta to leave, Julieta for her part looked insulted, that her own daughter would treat her this way, she was about to argue when Casita 'helped' Julieta move downstairs*

Luisa:now, I'm going back to my room. I hope Casita doesn't make me come back out till dinner

*Luisa said giving her own mother a stern look that would make alma proud if she wasn't currently screaming at the townspeople meeting*
