Chapter Twenty-Four
"I will fight, to fix up and get things right."
"Oh my god, what happened?" The sound of Ethan's voice was heard.
Lia didn't look away, and she didn't run to him the way she had last time. She was sitting in the back of an ambulance, currently being treated for the gaping wound on her forehead from the ladder. Thankfully, that was the extent besides light bruising on her scalp from when Ghostface threw her to the side, but that didn't mean it wasn't throbbing.
She didn't feel dizzy anymore, and she wasn't throwing up anymore. She didn't have a concussion, and the medics said that she was probably throwing up due to her anxiety being at an all-time high.
Chad didn't let Ethan and Ozzie get anything further than the yellow tape. He grabbed onto Ethan, shoving him against the wall. "Where the hell were you guys?" He asked, looking between him and Ozzie. "My sister almost died!"
"We were at Econ," Ethan looked into Chad's eyes. "Ozzie and I were together, at Econ!" He said again, as he realized Chad hadn't believed him.
Chad pursed his lips, before letting the boy go. "You better be telling the truth."
Ethan didn't say anything and instead made his way over to Lia. His face fell as he saw the wound on her forehead, and the way she didn't bother moving when she saw him.
"Who?" Ozzie asked, motioning to the body laying in the alleyway.
"Quinn and Anika," Chad answered.
Ethan's eyes shot up, confusion on his features. "Quinn and Anika?" He repeated, to which Cleo nodded. He tried to take another step forward, but Mindy stopped him.
"Chad might believe you but I don't. You're at the top of my suspect list." She then looked at Ozzie, "Both of you."
"We had Econ," Ethan spoke for the third time, his eyes then finding his girlfriend's. She avoided eye contact with him, her fingertips dancing along her thighs. "Sweetheart-"
"Ethan," She spoke as she looked up. The look on her face alone was enough to break his heart, and it took everything in him to not fall apart right then and there.
He was really with Ozzie, far away from the apartment. There was no way in a million years he'd ever do whatever happened that night, and seeing his own girlfriend not believing him was enough to break him.
"Where were you?" She asked again.
"Li, we were at Econ. He's not lying to you." Ozzie reached out to his best friend, who just pulled her hand away.
"Ghostface called me Ophelia. You two are the only two that knew that." She spat, looking between the two. "You two, who were gone the entire night, knew about Lia not being my real name."
"Lia, it wasn't us." Ozzie shook his head, "I swear on my mom we were at Econ."
"There were hundreds of other students there, you can ask any of them," Ethan added. He crouched down, pushing some of her messy hair out of her face. "I would never do anything to hurt you, sweetheart."
Lia looked at him, her eyes clouding with tears. She nodded, finally giving in. "I'm sorry I thought it was you guys." She cried out. Ethan immediately pulled her in for a hug, holding onto her tightly. "I'm just scared."
"We know, we know." Ethan cooed. He glanced at Mindy, who just continued to glare between him and Ozzie.
"I still don't trust you."

"How did you find this place?" Kirby asked as the group walked into an abandoned building.
She walked next to Ken Murphy, behind Gale Weathers. Behind them was Cleo, Amanda, Tara, Sam, Lia, Ethan, Ozzie, Mindy, Tatum, and Detective Bailey.
"It's called investigative journalism for a reason," Gale replied. "How didn't you?"
Lia paid no attention to any of the conversations in front of the group. She stood by Ethan, her fingers meddling with the bracelet. Ethan stole glances at her, ignoring the look coming from his father who stood behind them.
"Ophelia," He mumbled, catching her attention. "You don't still think it's me, do you?"
Lia looked at him, seeing the hurt in his eyes. She glanced ahead of them before back at the boy, shaking her head slightly.
"I promise you, it wasn't me or Ozzie." He added, to which she just nodded.
Ethan was at a breaking point. He wanted to stop and tell her everything, how it was Detective Bailey and Quinn. He didn't know why Quinn died, or what her plan was, but he didn't doubt for a second she was really dead.
Although, he couldn't say anything, due to his father standing right behind him. He knew if he said anything right now, it would make things worse and they were in a position where his dad could harm Lia.
"It's a movie theatre," Tara said, catching their attention again as they walked into the building.
"No," Gale denied as they walked further inside. "It's a shrine."
Everyone immediately separated, going their own ways. Mindy stopped in front of a sweater she immediately recognized as her Uncle's, and Kirby stopped in front of a plaid shirt, with a bloodied knife next to it.
"Is that?" Cleo asked the girl, glancing between her and the blonde just nodded.
"The knife I was stabbed with? Yes."
"So why are we here?" Ethan asked, motioning between him and the others who didn't have anything to do with the previous attacks.
"So I can keep an eye on you, roomie." Chad eyed Ethan. His eyes fell on Lia, who stood silently next to the curly-headed boy. He sent her a look of concern, to which she just looked at the ground.
"This is the TV that killed one of the originals, right?" Amanda asked, standing in front of the hollowed-out TV.
"If you believe he's dead," Tatum said.
"How would they even get access to any of this?" Lia asked, wringing the bracelet around her wrist.
Ethan noticed this action and reached down, lacing their fingers together. She sent a sad smile, one he quickly returned. He wanted to keep her extremely close, especially considering the killer was in the room with them.
"Cops like money and evidence gets lost really easily," Gale answered, to which Ken and Kirby sent her a look. "Present company excluded."
Nobody said anything, taking the answer as it was. Gale continued, stopping in front of Dewey Riley's case. "They must have found this place before they killed Jason and Greg, took the masks from Stu and Billy, up until Amber and Richie."
Ethan knew this. In the last 'family meeting' he had with Quinn and his dad, they mentioned this. He didn't pay too much attention, and he never knew anything else because once he walked out, he stopped getting involved. He hadn't been involved since he watched them kill his mother, and threatened to kill him as well.
"If this was a normal stab movie, this would be the killer's lair," Mindy stated, glancing at everyone.
"Which means we're not in a normal stab movie." Tatum and Kirby said at the same time, sharing a look shortly after.
"So what you're saying is that someone killed these chucklefucks and took over?" Chad asked, his eyes landing on the case nearest to him.
Lia found herself drifting away from the group staring at the case furthest away from everyone. It was a case showing the murder of one of the Ghostfaces, one she didn't know much about.
"Lia," Ethan said, catching her attention.
"What happened to calling me Ophelia?" Lia asked, tapping her fingertips on the glass case.
"I feel like you're upset with me," Ethan said, ignoring her comment.
"I'm not. I'm just-" Lia stopped, glancing behind him. She saw nobody was paying any attention to them, so she looked back at him. "I'm scared, Ethan. I could have died. Anika died. Joshua, Savannah, Jenny. They're all dead."
"I'm not going to let anything happen to you, baby." Ethan grabbed her hands. He brought them up to his lips, peppering kisses all over her fingertips.
"How can you be so sure? You keep saying that, and maybe it's to make me feel better but you can't guarantee that one of us isn't next." Lia watched as he stopped, leaving his lips on her hand. "I can't stand to lose someone else."
"You're not going to lose me, okay?" Ethan then cupped her cheeks. "I'm going to make absolute sure of it."
