Epilogue

"You better have a good reason for dragging me out of my house in the night and worse on my birthday that you're refusing to celebrate," I said to Geoffrey who had managed to get me out of the house.

It's been exactly 3 weeks, 12 days, 15 hours, 48 minutes and 50 seconds since I jumped out of Jeremiah's window and luckily for me, I didn't break anything except for the permanent damage on my emotions.

"You know it's my birthday too, right?" Geoffrey asked and took a turn towards the dock beside our house.

I followed after him. "And so? I can't celebrate my birthday because of you."

"I'll have to blindfold you here," Geoffrey stopped walking and turned to face me.

"Oh wow! I'm also walking to my surprise party! Did you know Fiona had a limousine drop her at her birthday party?"

"Your name is Sandra and not Fiona," Geoffrey replied as soon as he had the black bandana securely tied across my eyes.

He took my hand and led me down the dock as I carried on complaining and listing girls who had extravagant parties.

"We're here!" Geoffrey said as we came to a stop.

"Most people would have yelled surprise but OK," I said and took off the blindfold.

I stared at the scenery before me and took a deep breath.

"Geoffrey honey, you brought me out of the house to look at a signboard that says 'Keep Away.' wow! What can I say? Best birthday ever."

"N-n-no, your looking in the wrong place."

"For your love?"

"This is not the time to quote Zayn Malik."

"You started it!"

"Just turn."

And turn I did. My breath hitched and I swear I couldn't believe my eyes.

"So, you brought me all the way here to see the boys. Again, what could I say? Oh wait! Best Birthday Ever!"

"Happy Birthday honey!" Curtis cheered and rushed to me. "Are you happy?"

"Nope!"

"That's good," he said and I frowned.

"Hey babe!"

"I'm not your babe, Jeremiah!"

"Well, she's rude and I've always known it," Gozie said and walked to me. "Happy Birthday!"

"If there's no gift, there's no birthday."

"And who said there's no gift?" Jeremiah asked. "Hit it Andres."

"I still think this gift is too much," Andres said before hitting it. Don't ask me what it is.

But after Andres hit whatever it is, the street lights positioned at either side of the pathway leading to the waters went off and a spotlight appeared and shone it's brilliance on an unbelievable sight.

"Is that- does that- oh no," I said my hand covering my mouth.

Now, let me indulge you in the sight that has me both speechless and dare I say it, breathless. A yacht was on the waters and it had The Cassandra boldly inscribed on it.

"You like?" Caleb asked.

"She better like o, I didn't spend my allowance on a yacht so she'll come and be making choices," Curtis said and I saw Andres nodding in agreement.

"You all got me a yacht?"

"Not we," Geoffrey said. "before you get the wrong idea, we borrowed the money to Jeremiah here so he could buy you a yacht."

I turned to face Jeremiah. "You got me a yacht?"

"You've always wanted one, so I thought why not," he replied shrugging.

"Where did you get the money? Because I know allowances can't afford this beauty."

"Everyone lent me, my savings and a couple of loans."

"Yep, he's already agreed to be homeless and broke in future," Andres said and frowned.

I looked at the yacht and a lot of emotions danced in my veins. Happiness, love and the one I rarely feel, guilt.

"I can't accept this," I said and backed away from the yacht.

"Don't even joke about that," Caleb said. "That's my 3 years allowance and the shop has a non return policy."

"This is too much."

"Your mom couldn't give birth to a child that can make up her mind," Gozie glared at Geoffrey.

Geoffrey shrugged and replied. "When you see her, ask her."

Ignoring him, Jeremiah stood before me and held me in place, preventing me from stepping back.

"Sandra what's wrong? Is the colour or what? We'll fix it."

"It's not the colour, it's the yacht. I can't have it."

"I don't understand you, when there was no yacht, a yacht was all you wanted. Now, yacht has appeared, you don't want yacht," Curtis frowned.

"Why would you get me a yacht?" I asked Jeremiah and ignored Curtis.

"You wanted a yacht, right? And by all indications, a yacht seemed like the only thing that could make you happy, so, I got you a yacht."

"I like to see my girlfriend happy too but not once have I considered buying her the 2006 iPhone that she has been asking for and I'm her boyfriend. You're an aspiring boyfriend. Are you seeing the difference?" Andres said.

"I really really like you Sandra. No, o don't like you, I love you," Jeremiah smiled. "So, will you like to be my girlfriend?"

"If I say no, can I still keep the yacht?"

"You cannot be banking with Sterling Bank and expect to be collecting interest from Union Bank. That's not how life works," Andres said.

"No, it's alright. You can still keep the yacht even if we don't date," Jeremiah said with a lot of disappointment.

"I will slap you silly," Geoffrey said and pulled Jeremiah away from me. "If she doesn't date you, then no yacht for her. Simple."

"No guys it's okay, I just want to see her smile."

"You really couldn't be like your big brother," Andres said.

"At the end, it's all about seeing the one you love happy even if it's not with you. Isn't that what love is about?" Jeremiah asked.

"No, that's not what love is about. If my girlfriend said she wanted a car, I'll break up with her, you know why?"

"Why?"

"Because, she's an enemy of my progress. How can I be walking from one place to another under hot sun and be planning to buy car for someone?" Caleb asked.

"I hope you enjoy the yacht," Jeremiah said and started walking away.

"Who has two thumbs, is a girl and owns yacht?" I asked. "This girl!"

"Cassandra!"

"Fine," I sighed before looking at Jeremiah's figure walking away. "Jeremiah!"

He stopped walking and turned. "Yes."

"When will I get the documents?"

"CASSANDRA!"

"Okay fine! Yes, I'll like to be your girlfriend."

Jeremiah didn't talk or move, he just stared.

"Say something!"

He didn't, rather, he walked until he was standing right in front of me. "Are you messing with me?"

"Nope!"

Next thing I know, Jeremiah was twirling me around and laughing, "she agreed to be my girl!"

"Yea, we saw. Last person to the yacht buys the birthday food," Curtis said and we broke into a sprint.

Caleb was quick to start the yacht. We were in the middle of the ocean when Jeremiah left my side to get a bottle of wine. Before he could get to the door, a shark came out of nowhere and swallowed him before jumping back into the sea. We just watched wide eyes, unable to comprehend anything.

"I think the universe doesn't want you to have a boyfriend," Curtis said and we nodded in agreement.

"My brother!" Andres cried out.

"Who is his next of kin?" I asked.

"Me," Andres replied.

I nodded before smiling at him. "Congratulations, you just inherited your brother's debt."

"What? Jerry come back here and I'm not joking."

I'd say all ended well but that would be a lie.

In the plus side, I got a yacht.

The End.
