"what did you do?"
Davina Sinclaire was not one for apologies, not sincere heartfelt ones anyway, and so, as she stood in front of the Weasley family not too long after her own parents had left (her father having expressed his deep disappointment in his only daughter), the girl struggled to find the words that she knew needed to come out, because in the end, she truly was sorry for what she had done, she had over reacted, and let her temper fly and this was the period of time where she regretted it the most. After an awkward few minuets of everyone staring at her, and her staring back, the girl finally clears her throat.
"Um, look, i'm not great at apologies, although clearly im great at making myself look like an ass," She heard someone snort, and could only assume it was Ginny, and tried not to look over at her as anger seared through her once more. "but, I am also great at making myself feel like shit for the asshole things i've done, and I feel like complete shit right now." She winced, figuring she probably shouldn't use that kind of language around Mrs. Weasley. "Excuse my language, Mrs. Weasley, but I just want you and Ginny to know that I am so, so sorry for what ive done, my temper isn't any excuse for doing something like this, and I should have had it under control and confronted her about the rumor politely.." She trailed off, not really knowing where to go from there.
It was silent for a moment, the heaviness of it filling the room as the family seemed to look at each other. It doesn't take long before Molly has the girl wrapped in a bone crushing hug, much like the one she had been given last year after she had saved her son. "Things happen," The older woman says, pulling away from her. "all that really matters is that you're both sorry, right, girls?" She asks, although Davina noted an edge to her voice as she looked at her red headed daughter.
Ginny looked at the blonde, her face completely healed thanks to Madame Pomfrey, and looked to Harry, they had had a talk before her parents and the rest of her family had gotten there, and at the time, she had been indifferent, but she felt horrible now. "The way I see it, I guess I kind of deserved it..i shouldn't have started that rumor, it was horrible to the both of you and i'm really, really sorry.."
Davina gave her a small smile, looking at everyone. She found Fred to be staring at her, and shuffled in her spot, feeling awkward. "It's okay..now, if you'll excuse me..i should probably go write a letter to my father and beg him not to disown me." She says, only half joking. She was still reeling from the words her father had said to her, they were still echoing around in her head and she could vividly see the look on his face as plain as if he were still right in front of her. "Harrison, i'll see you tonight in the library, I expect you'll be better prepared this time."
As Davina headed for the doors, she pretended not to hear one of the Weasley's go "Harrison? She knows that's not your name, right?" and she most definitely pretended not to hear Ron's response of "He's so whipped he doesn't even care."
As she stepped out into the hallway, she took a breath, trying to calm herself on the inside. The girl felt as if she was being torn apart, and wondered if this was what her brother felt like whenever their father was angry at him. If so, she did not envy him, she found it to be utterly horrible and gut wrenching and could only hope that her father wouldn't remain so angry at her, but also she felt as if she deserved it and the punishment he was inflicting upon her. She would take the detentions and the points being taken away without argument, and even not being allowed to Hogsmeade or at home if she had to..
On the walk back to her dorm room, classes began to let out and the girl wasn't surprised when Draco came up beside her, walking silently for only a few moments until they got to a quieter hallway. "You look like you've seen better days." He says, knowing exactly what had happened. Maxwell had come back to classes and told him instantly, divulging his worry about how this would affect Davina, she was used to being her fathers pride and joy, not his disappointment.
Davina sighs. "Mac told you, didn't he?" She asks, glancing up at him as they walked, her shoulder brushing up against his bicep as she leaned against him for comfort. They may not have been together anymore, but they had been for a long time, and I guess you could say that despite how much she tried to let them go, sometimes old habits died hard, especially when they came in the form of the one person she had ever loved.
Draco wraps his arm around her, holding her against him. "He most certainly did." He says. He knew very well how close she was with her father, and how much she hated being in trouble with the man. "Davina, your dad has just as much of a temper as you, and he's just as hot headed when it comes to rash decisions. He'll feel like shit soon enough, and tell you that he didn't mean what he said." He already planned to write to Redford about it, or maybe his mother to see if she might talk to Rose about getting her husband to ease up on her.
The girl says nothing, letting him walk her towards her room. It didn't take too long, and as much as she hated that she was depending on him for comfort in that moment, she didn't hesitate to invite him in. "Please?" She asks, knowing he wouldn't say no, even though he seemed to be hesitating. She knew that he had been trying to give her space, and that the space was probably helping him move on as well, but she just wanted to be near him again, feel like they were close again.
Draco sighs, following her in as he feels all of his self will resolve at her look. He was putty in this girls hands, and he always would be, even if they never got back together again. "Only for a little bit though, ive got a ton of work to do." He says, shutting her door behind him. He sat his bag down next to hers, before taking a seat on the edge of her bed, right next to her, wrapping his arm around her again.
It was quiet for a while, and Draco was just getting ready to leave as he figured dinner would probably be starting soon when he heard Davina speak. "What if he really meant that I can't go home?" She asks, her eyebrows furrowed. Draco knew this look well enough to know that Davina was lost in her own mind, over thinking things she needn't worry about so much. He also knew that if he let her go on with it for much longer, she would think herself into an anxiety attack, and he wouldn't be able to calm her down for hours possibly.
"Davina, relax, love." He says, turning her face towards his. "He's your father, do you really think he's not going to allow you to go home for Christmas? Do you think your mother would let him do that? Or Mac?" He asks, although by the way her eyes were flitting about so quickly, he knew she already too far gone in her own mind. "Hey, look, if you want, you don't have to go home.. you can come with me and mother, or I can stay here with you.. okay?" He didn't think she heard him though, as she went on with another over thinking kind of thought that only Davina would have. Seeing no other choice, he resulted to his old tricks when it came to these moments with her. Cutting her off half way through her sentence, the boy takes her face in his hands and pulls her to him into one of the deepest, slowest kisses they had ever had.
Davina was a little surprised at first, but she knew what he was doing, and that she probably needed it, and so after a moment she kissed back, her lips moving slowly against his, pressed together as tightly as they had ever been. The girl couldn't help but put a hand on the back of his neck, her fingers digging into his hair as she held him in place, not wanting him to move away. In the back of her mind all she could do was think about how much she had missed that, how much she had missed him and how well they went together.
And as if he knew he needed to save her from doing something stupid, she heard her brother outside of the door, yelling at her about dinner before knocking on it several times. He seemed to have come just in time though, because Davina was in the midst of climbing on top of Draco, pushing him back on the bed as she threw one of her legs over his waist, and if he hadn't interrupted, she knew exactly where that would have lead them..
The girls pulls away from him, both of them wearing surprised looks on their faces. "Um, just a minuet!" She hollers back to her brother, climbing off of him and the bed and standing to her feet. "I'm sorry.." She says, feeling guilty, hoping that he knew she wasn't trying to play with his feelings. He shakes his head, straightening his shirt and smoothing out her hair for her before giving her one last quick peck (purely out of habit), and picking up his bag, walking towards the door and throwing it open without another word or even a glance back at him.
Mac walked in, instantly noting her somewhat disheveled state and putting two and two together instantly. "What did you do?!" He asks, looking at her with wide, incredulous eyes. His twin says nothing, and kind of just shrugs in response, although he could tell by her face that she had just done something dumb. "Davina, you didn't?!"
