Dear, the Sky
My dearest, the World,
I know you fear for me. Every mortal who knows of my cage and the chain that binds me there harbors sympathy for me. But you should not worry. Always I endure, my dearest, I endure for you.
I hear much of the marvels of your bright sky. It gets dark through fluctuations, brighter through shades of flame across the horizon. Sunsets— those are my favorite. Most like sunrises better because they symbolize beginnings, but does the night not begin as well?
Ah, and how your people love the light. I favor the darkness, but that may be only because that's all I know. So I favor the stars and moon for now, while many favor the sun.
Are these letters but ramblings to you? As much as I savor each opportunity to write to you, I sometimes feel that these are in vain. Could you, since I am such a jealous lover, heal my misgivings?
My greatest regards,
Alexander the Dreamer
