Chapter 4
Harmomy had thrown herself on her bed sobbing into her pillow with a broken heart. Her seemingly endless flooding tears stained her eyes red. Those very tears soaked her pillow right in the center along with the newly formed makeup stains. Her chest tighten painfully while breathing became more diffcult for the princess. Every noise or sound that she wailed would be mostly covered up becoming muffled as a result. The window curtains shielded Harmony from the sun allowing her to be in the darkness of her own pod.
How could she be such a fool? Why did she believed River when he told her that false phrase. "I love you." If that was really how he felt then why did he stab her in both her heart and her back like that? Did he ever actually care since he was so clearly fine with cheating on her? On their Wedding Day too! Did three years mean nothing to him?
River was the one who chased after her! The one who was so determined and confident about them being soulmates during the third date! He made promises, like his promise to be loyal after she said "No" to an open relationship. What other promises did he break behind her back? Was everything he ever told her lies?
Why did Harmony grew to trust him so easily and fast? There was a reason why she didn't usually go on dates with strangers. She didn't know who they were or if she could trust them with her heart. Most of the trolls, both male and female, she previously dated were once a friend to her that she developed a connection with. Love at first sight doesn't form such bonds! Yet she believed River's spin on their first meeting calling it one. How could she be so stupid?
Then somebody knocked on the door but, the Princess refused to acknowledge it. Instead she hugged her pillow even more not wanting anyone to see her face. The door opened revealing both her parents and her sister. The only person missing was her brother but, he was probably at the wedding like everyone else. The deeply upset troll had her back facing her concerned family.
" Harmony,we have been looking for you - " Pippy started but, got cut off immediately.
" GO AWAY!" Harmony shouted between her sobs. " The Wedding Off! "
The distress and sudden outburst shocked the family members! Harmony rarely raised her voice unless it was needed for the situation she was in or handling but, this wasn't her authority voice. No, the emotional pain was louder her actual yelling! Without a second thought, Branch and Poppy came in to comfort their distressed daughter worried while Pippy just stood still in shock.
" Why? What happened? Harmony,Please Talk to us! Maybe we could fix whatever wrong -" Poppy said panicked.
" No! I'm not marrying him! "
Harmony sat up and removed the stained pillow from her face to look directly at her parents as she spoke. Her ruined makeup ,eyeliner especially, displayed the path her tears took and her braid was a mess. There were still a couple tears left still racing down her face. The mother gasped covering her mouth with her hands and wide eyed. Branch's hands turned into fists by his sides once he saw the heartbreak in his daughter's bloodshot eyes.
" Jus - Just tell everyone that "I'm sorry", tha - that it's not happening and send everyone home! I don't care anymore! "
The bride took out her white rose clip and threw it out of frustration at a near by picture frame with her and River inside of it. The frame fell backwards onto the carpet floor. Poppy ,not knowing what to do, hugged her daughter. Harmony still ,being restricted in her movements by her dress, stayed in her current sitting portion covering her face with her hands. Tiredness began to wash over her from all the crying she had been doing.
The father squeezed his wife's shoulder lightly causing her to let go of their eldest. Harmony wiped away her years feeling a little calmer than before. She still had mixed emotions stirring within her being but, now she mainly felt emotionally drained. Branch moved a strand of hair from Harmony's face tucking it behind her rounder version of his oddly shaped ears.
" How are you feeling?" Branch asked softly.
" Tired... " Harmony sighed.
" Okay. We'll take care of the wedding... " Branch reassured.
He gently and briefly kissed his eldest daughter's forehead before taking Poppy's hand and quietly leaving. The father closed the door to give Harmony some privacy. Poppy stared at the closed door with a heavy heart. Branch turned his attention to their youngest daughter, who was looking at him for answers. Pippy didn't know what to do. Her big sister was hurting and none of them knew the reason why.
" Stay here and watch over your sister while we're gone. " Branch ordered lowing his voice.
Pippy nodded her head understanding. She proceeded to sit down on the outdoor stairs of the Royal pod and silently watched her parents fly away on a critterbike. The Princess sighed defeated and crossed her arms rubning her shoulders. Pip blew one of her more heavily covering bangs away from her pink eye. Then she noticed someone rushing towards her still looking for Harmony. It was none other than their brother,Prince Aiden.
Aiden stopped in front of Pip, bending over hands on his knees. His arms acted as supporting poles. He breathed in and out heavily from all the running around he's been doing. His heart was still pounding and he could hear it in his ears which shared the same shape as Harmony's ears. There was sweat on his ligth blue skin running from his forehead. His hot pink eyes filled with concern locked with Pippy's defeated gaze. He wiped his running purplish blue nose with the sleeve of his black tuxedo. His bright pink hair was somewhat a mess but, at least his thin bangs were out of his face.
" Did you find her?"
" She's inside... Probably asleep. It's better if we just leave her alone. " Pip informed quietly.
" Pippy, her wedding -" Aiden disagreed.
" The wedding off, Aiden!"
Meanwhile at the wedding...
The guests were either dead silent or whispering among each other. The marriage officiant stood under the arch with River, who had a strong feeling that his bride wasn't coming any time soon and yet still got dressed into his Royal wedding tuxedo for their wedding. Minnie was talking to talking to one of the guards checking if they had seen the bride by any chance.
The King and Queen of the village walked down the aisle without the bride with them to everyone's disappointment and confusion. They joined River and the officiant under the white arch. Branch side eyed glared at River like he had just committed an immoral and serious crime. Poppy mentally prepared herself for few a seconds for what she was about to do. Call off the wedding for their daughter. She needed to be careful with her words.
" I know that your concerned about the bride but, we know where she is and she is okay... for the most part. Harmony won't be coming unfortunately because... " Poppy sighed. " She had come to decision that she doesn't wish to go through with this marriage anymore..."
Most of the guests gasped out of shock and disbelief. They all became dead silent staring at their Queen. The groom pretended to act as equally shocked trying to save his image from the situation at hand. He knew that it was over when he realized Harmony had saw him with his girlfriend.
" Harmony and us apologize for the last minute cancellation. We know that everybody worked really hard to pull this wedding together and made time to be here but, we all need to respect Princess Harmony's wishes. " The Queen continued.
" Did - did Harmony say why?" River asked nervously.
" No but, I am sure that it has something to do with you. " Branch said aggressively.
The anger in the king's voice was not well hidden. Poppy, not wanting to cause a scene, grabbed her husband's hand and squeezed it several times signaling a message to him to calm down. Branch tried his best to contain himself but, his anger was still present in him. His death glare was fixed on the troll who his daughter trusted with her heart.
" Wh - what do you mean? I was here the whole time. " River lied playing innocent.
The King knew for a fact that was a lie cause him and Poppy were at the wedding long before River arrived. Not to mention River arrived an hour later than he was suppose to. Branch may not know the full story but, Harmony's eyes told an very convincing tale.
" Bullshit! I know you did something to break her heart!" Branch snapped.
" Branch!" Poppy shouted blocking him from reaching River. " Don't! We still don't know exactly what happened between them. "
River backed up scared and hid behind his best man, using him as a troll shield. The guests were even stunned by the ongoing scene. Many guests looked at River then back at their king, wondering themselves what had happened to cause the anger of a protective father to be unleashed.
" Doesn't matter! Harmony wouldn't had been upset and crying like that if he did nothing!" Branch argued. " What did you do to my daughter, you -"
" That's enough, Branch! Let me handle this. " Poppy interrupted seriously.
