Chapter 15
Rosie and Melody boarded the caterbus eager for to see the magical border again but, this time it was a very different kind of visit. Once the two travelers were both inside, the caterbus retracted it's tongue closing it's mouth preparing it's body to blast off. Within in one minute at full speed, the caterpillar like critter abruptly stopped parked at next to a tree with lots of shade.
" Thanks for the ride, Fluffbert. Enjoy the Cotten Candy. " Pippy said walking out into the forest.
The Princess had the scrapbook she borrowed held delicately with both of her arms. Afterall the book was still the village's property, not hers so her mishandling and damaging it wouldn't be a good thing. Not to mention the piece of picture literature had too many valuable pages that Pip wanted to be able to contuine exploring without issue.
Rosie shortly followed Melody with the biggiest smile on her face. She couldn't wait to see the Primroses. Some of her former childhood wonder and innocence had been restored right back into both her soul and heart when the Princess showed her the book and told her about the border. Just like what Poppy had unknowingly done to Pippy. The magic aura was also contributing to sparks of emotion igniting within the two trolls, who were now fully exposed to. It was an positive exposure.
" I can't believe those were made and grew from pure Trairy magic..." Rosie said in awe.
" I know. Right? The pollen is actually scented Trairy sparkle dust! If you put it on their wings, they will fly faster! Imagine what the Primroses could do for us trolls... " Melody goshed.
The sunlight softly kissed the petals of the smaller and also the taller and bigger Primroses. The towering hedge ,that was littered with the overgrown flowers from top to bottom, was almost invisible to the eyes of the trolls. Most of the stems were hidden within the shurbs allowing for the blooming buds to take center stage. Their main and frequent visitor, Rosie, stood before them even more enchanted by the Primroses beauty after learning their truth.
" What happens when you try pick one of them? Like do they gonna grow back or become tougher when pulling? What happens? Is it wrong that I wanna keep one for myself in a jar? " Rosie thought out loud.
The red skinned troll didn't have any ill intentions for the flowers. She just wanted to have one in her pod. The gem troll closed her eyes for a moment imagining how great of a decoration and luck charm her desired flower be in her home. Rosie didn't plan on actually taking one but, she still had that random thought charming her.
" Hold on! I can't find the page... I know that I saw it somewhere in the middle. " Pip said frustrated.
Rosie was too lost in her own imagination to notice or hear her friend. Melody carefully flipped threw the pages while holding the scrapbook up with one arm under the sun. The green skinned troll silently became more annoyed with herself and her memory as she contuined to flip through the pages towards the end of the scrapbook.
" Why do I have the worst memory? Agh! " Melody closed the book. " You know what? Maybe I need some cotten candy myself. "
Melody turned around only to find that Fluffbert had moved the caterbus. She moved her head checking every direct confused. Where was it? Why did Fluffbert move without warning them first? Did the critter get distracted and started choosing it's own parking space again? Pip sighed to herself pulling the book closer to her chest. Looks like it's time for her to go caterbus hunting again...
" Could you hold onto this for me? I don't wanna lose it in the woods. " Pip asked softly.
Rosie snapped out of her thoughts while Melody turned to face her handing over the book. Rosie gently took the thick book confused but, wasn't going to voice the fact that she wasn't listening. She looked down at old and thick literature in her hands then back up at Melody nodding her head. The Princess thanked her friend for doing her the favor, which ended giving Rosie half of the context clues she needed to know.
" I'll be right back. Don't test out anything while I'm gone. I wanna see that stuff too. " Melody said walking away into the unknown but, very familiar forest.
Rosie sat down on a rock with her back facing the flowers once Pip was completely out of sight. The peaceful silence of the environment around her, relaxed her into submitting all of her attention into studying the magical flowers. Her small smile and softened eyes showcased her contentment with her current situation but, little did Rosie know how soon that contentment was going turn into her worst nightmare...
An half hour had passed but, still sight or sign of Melody, the Caterbus and Fluffbert returning. Rosie was still lost in the images and the lists she was reading. Her eyes sparkled with curiosity as she came across the potion list. The list even showed what kind of petals you would need to give a Trairy in order for the powerful beings to make every potion.
" A Primrose plus a Rose make a Love Potion?" Rosie said fascinated. " I would definitely, one hundred percent never use that but,still... wow..."
" Hello Darling... Seems like you found a way to preform miracles... " River's voice said charmingly and suggestively.
Rosie's blood ran cold while she couldn't tell if her heart had stopped beating or was beating too slow. The female troll froze with wide, fearful eyes. Her hands holding the book locked in position. She didn't want to look up at the owner of the unwanted and smooth voice. Why was he here? She had already denied him her services. What more could he want?
Sage lowered the scrapbook pulling it down onto the woman's lap. He looked down at the page with the potion list impressed. The glitter's lips formed a mischievous smile as he imagined what exactly he would do if he had his hands on a Love Potion. Rosie hesitantly turned her head up to see Sage invading her personal space bubble and River standing near him.
" I guess I was wrong about you..." Sage admitted too calmly.
" What are you doing back here? I said "No!" to you days ago!" Rosie said suspicious and angrily.
Her eyes went from wide and big to sharpened. Her shock and fear was replaced with anger. The Match Maker shut the book and tossed it into her hair, forgetting about the words "gentle" and "careful". It didn't matter anymore what stage was the book could be in now. It was very well made with a strong and thick cover. The woman stood up folding her arms protectively.
" Go. Away. I don't what else you have to say. Just go! I ain't doing anything!" Rosie bark.
Sage and River had stepped back to give the cornered troll more space but, they certainly weren't done yet. Sage smirked pulling out an old picture that he spend over an hour looking for and handed it over to River. Roland smiled at Rosie like he had just won the lottery.
" Well that's a shame because, we really didn't want to do this. Looks like we have no choice but, to share this lovely image of you and this lovely girl..." Roland said confidently.
" What are you talking about?"
River threw the picture down to Rosie's feet forcing her to pick it up herself. Annoyed she did just that not even paying attention of what was going on in the picture. Then when the Match Maker finally took an moment to examine the memory, her hair turned as white as possible! Her jaw dropped, her eyes widen bigger than ever before out of shock and her heart speed up pounding in her chest.
" How did you even find this?! I burned every single copy I saved!" Rosie said worried.
" I have my ways..." Sage smirked tauntingly.
" We could keep this between us but... You have to help us out first." River adjusted his collar. " Do we have a deal?"
Rosie pulled the blackmail material closer to her small chest. Every part of her mind was screaming at her for different reasons. One wanted to protect not only Rosie's image but,her overall. The second one hated the idea of being involved what could possibly be a twisted plan because, it was against her personal beliefs and moral values. The third voice especially didn't want to force Harmony and Aiden into this web that definitely wouldn't end well for them! What was she going to do? If Rosie did this, she would not only be betraying her friend but, their family too!
" C'mon Rosie? What do you say? Wasn't it you taking too long to decide was one of handful of ways you hurt her? " River said manipulatively twisting the truth.
Rosie hestiantly with shaking hands brought the image in her hands back into her view. A tear threatened to escape as a painful memory of her first serious relationship with her lost love shattered into glass. Her heart ached as she stared down at the picture of her and her ex-girlfriend. If the other trolls found out about her failed relationship, nobody would want to come to her for help. It would destroy her career as a Match Maker!
" D -De - Deal..."
" Good..." River said happily and quietly
Sage reached out of Rosie's hair pulling out the scrapbook. He opened the book to the exact page with the recipe for the Love Potion then forcefully took the blackmail material from the conflicted and filled with regret Match Maker. The glitter troll placed it between the two pages like a book marker then calmly closed it handing the scrapbook back to it's current babysitter. Rosie's head hung low eyeing the literature in her grasp.
" But, the only Trairy our village ever met and knew of disappeared into the Rock lands years ago... Sugar Plum is gone!" Rosie said realizing that the challenge might be impossible once again.
" I'm sure that you will figure something out. Your a smart girl. Don't worry about thing, Rosie..." River claimed lifting up her chin.
Then the two men slowly disappeared into the same direction Melody had went in, finally leaving the Gem troll alone. Just like she orginally wanted. Defeated and conflicted, Rosie pulled the scrapbook against her chest again falling onto her knees. All of the tears the woman was holding back began escaping her running down her cheeks. Each tear either dripped down on the grass as she silently cried...
"What am I gonna do?..." She whispered.
