Chapter Sixteen
Lucas sat at the edge of his bed, which he used to share with Eileen, and stared down at his phone. He has just received a text message from Eileen, asking if he'd meet up with her so she could explain things. One half was telling him to go, to hear what she had to say while the other half wanted to curse her out for everything she had done. In the perfect world, Lucas seen himself doing neither and ignoring her completely but there were still questions left unanswered and this was most likely the last chance he'd have to ask her.
It was settled, Lucas would agree to see Eileen but only if she answered all of his questions and she obliged. It took him by surprise but he wasn't going to let that show when they did come face to face.
As he drove to where they arranged to meet, his nerves seemed to skyrocket. Lucas wasn't nervous around Eileen, being nervous was sensible reaction to a potentially frightening situation while being anxious was intense, sometimes overwhelming and there could be sudden physical symptoms such as a racing heart beat, which Lucas was experiencing. He wasn't nervous about the meeting but he was anxious about what would happen during said meeting. Eileen was capable of anything...

After Chloé explained her horrid first date with Kim, a light seemed to turn on inside Adrien's mind as he smiled at her.
The blonde raised a brow at his expression. "I know I wasn't a likable person then, but you don't have to make me feel any worse than I already do."
Adrien's smile quickly disappeared as he realized his bright demeanor wasn't appropriate at the time. "No no! I wasn't smiling because of your pain, I've got an idea that could release you from that."
Marinette and Chloé shared questionable looks as Adrien glanced at both of them.
"What exactly do you have in mind?" Marinette asked.
"I think you should see Kim and explain yourself."
Her response was simple and quick, leaving Adrien no time to explain his plan. "I agree."
"Now before you say you think I'm wrong, listen to—" Adrien paused and looked at her. "Wait, you do?"
Chloé nodded. "I sort of left him hanging, plus," she let out a sigh. "It's been years since we spoke. It's not healthy to have a grudge against someone."
Marinette smiled and reached for Chloé's hand. "You never know, he might catch feelings again when he sees you!"
A soft smile appeared on Chloé's lips. "I-I don't know if it'll go that far, but I can't rule it out either."
The three shared a chuckle. Before another sentence left Chloé, Adrien informed her that today would be the best to see him, as she shouldn't wait any longer. Marinette and Adrien pulled the blonde into a hug and gave her the push she needed to start walking towards Kim's home.
The couple watched as Chloé disappeared, smiling like two fools. The sweet moment quickly faded as Adrien glanced down at his wife.
"Where does this leave us?"
The question was so simple yet it held a lot. Marinette wasn't sure where they stood, on one hand, Adrien was back and it wasn't like the two were divorced but on the other... she was still conflicted about her feelings towards Cole. Sure she seen a new side to him but everyone had flaws. How exactly would she decide who was better for her?
Then it hit her; Hugo was the answer.

Lucas was running late. He decided at the last minute to return home and collect a few things as "evidence". By the time he had made it into town, he realized it was getting dark and he would be alone with Eileen. Not that that worried him, but the fact that no one knew where he was and Eileen was missing, well let's just say it didn't settle well with Lucas.
When he did finally arrive, Eileen was sitting alone, her head hung low. He had parked across the street, wanting a bit of time to himself before facing his ex wife. As he opened the car door, a sudden force cause it to push back. His leg was pinched by the door hinge but he wasn't concerned with himself. Whatever or whomever was more important as he heard a thud the minute after the door pinched him.
Lucas got out of the car and there on the sidewalk a bit dazed from running into a car door, was Chloé Bourgeois. His eyes widened, knowing who she was and how she could get anyone into deep trouble, well, used to.
"Oh my gosh, I am so sorry!" He kneeled in front of her and looked her over. Her forehead was slightly red, a bruise would make its appearance the next day.
She let out a light hearted chuckle and shook her head. "Don't worry, I'm all right."
Lucas blinked a few times, not expecting the kindness from the former mayor's daughter. He outstretched a hand which she gladly took and he lifted her to her feet.
After dusting herself off, the two held a small conversation for almost ten minutes. Their meeting seemed to be a signal to Lucas, that he could still talk to someone, a woman for that matter, and not be a complete failure. In his mind, he was awkward and seemed to bore anyone he spoke to but by the way Chloé smiled and responded to his remarks, Lucas noticed he had better luck than he thought. Being with the same woman since high school made it a bit difficult for Lucas to branch out and meet new and interesting people, not that he didn't love Eileen at the time, he just wanted something exciting in his life and now that was finally happening.
Eileen...
"Er, I'm sorry but I've got to go. You're friends with Adrien right?" Lucas asked, scratching the back of his neck. He knew the two had been good friends in the past but didn't know if they were still communicating. He also didn't factor in that Chloé still thought the model was buried six feet under.
"I am." She replied, smiling at him. He nodded and moved past her.
"It was great meeting you, even though I did hit you with my door." He said sheepishly. "Sorry about that again."
"Don't worry, I'll be okay and if not," she turned to face him with a smirk. "I'll send you my medical bills."
Lucas laughed. "I await them."
The two bid farewell and were off to fulfill their goals. Lucas getting answers from Eileen and Chloé explaining her feelings to Kim.
Just before Chloé had left, she remained in the same spot as Lucas crossed the street, a small white envelope falling out of his pocket. As the letter landed on the pavement, her blue eyes scanned across the name.
"To Marinette and Adrien Agreste:
Do Not Read Alone."
She blinked a few times to make sure she was reading it correctly. After evaluating it for a few seconds longer, she bent forward and lifted the envelope up. Chloé looked to where Lucas went and watched as he sat down next to an unknown figure.
It was unexplainable; talking with Lucas then watching him leave made Chloé's heart skip a beat. Even if she tried, she wouldn't be able to pinpoint a reason so instead, she stuffed the letter into her pocket and continued to her destination with the guy on her mind and not the one you may expect.
