Chapter Four

{A/N: I've been working on another MLB story for Wattpad. It's a MariChat fanfic but I'm not sure about it. Would you guys be interested in reading it? Please let me know
Anyway, on to the chapter!}

The entire group had been at the resort for almost two weeks, managing to find a sleep schedule since their room consisted of only three beds and a pull out couch.

Marinette and Cole regularly talked, exchanging numbers once they all had checked into the resort and from that moment on, they were texting each other every chance they got. Everyone took notice of Marinette's behavior, the way she smiled when her phone lit up with a new message, how she would drop everything to reply, and the light that seemed to shine brightly when looking into her eyes. Alya was the most worried one out of the bunch. She knew her friend didn't have intentions of dating again but deep down, Alya had a feeling Marinette would change her mind soon. It left a gut wrenching feeling in the pit of her abdomen that Alya chose to ignore although it was difficult. Eileen and Lucas watched as Marinette smiled in glee when she spoke of Cole, Eileen's nerves skyrocketing since she knew, as did Lucas, that Marinette's husband was still living.

"All right, Eileen, this is ridiculous! If you don't tell Adrien to come back now, I will. Marinette is on the brink of moving on to some..." he paused to think of a good name to describe Cole. "Some bozo and it'll be all our fault!"

"I will, I will! We've already discussed about it." Eileen stood up from the couch to face her husband head on. "It shouldn't be any longer."

"No," Lucas shook his head. "He needs to come back now. Not in three weeks, not in a few months, but now, as in this week. If you tell me you did and I call him only to discover you didn't... that's the last straw."

"What... what are saying?" Eileen's face was forlorn as she thought of all the consequences Lucas had in mind, the most prominent being the end of their relationship.

"I—"

Just as Lucas was about to respond, a soft knock at the door interrupted him and Marinette soon opened the door with Alya standing behind her.

"Sorry to interrupt but I just wanted to ask if Eileen would like to join us. We're going shopping at the mall." Marinette arched a brow when neither of them spoke a word.

"Uh," Eileen started, turning so she didn't face Lucas anymore. "Sounds fun. I'll get my bag." She walked away from the group and into one of the bedrooms. Marinette and Lucas exchanged looks before Alya spoke up.

"So, were you two fighting?" Alya asked bluntly. Lucas choked, turning away from both girls.

"Alya! It's none of our business." Marinette scolded her friend then shook her head at the nonsense.

"What?" Alya shrugged. "At least I'm not pretending that everything is all right when it isn't."

Before either could reply, Eileen returned to the group with her bag resting on her shoulder.

"Okay, I'm ready."

As the three left the room, Marinette glanced at Lucas over her shoulder and bit down on her lip. She had a feeling things between the couple weren't doing as well as Eileen implied yet she didn't want to impose on them. Lucas looked over at her and smiled faintly before it disappeared. She nodded her head a bit and finally closed the door.

"—And basically they haven't stopped talking since."

Nino and Lucas sat outside with three toddler boys sitting near them. Since the girls decided to head into town and take time for themselves, Nino agreed to look after the kids himself but soon realized he'd need help when he couldn't keep all three still at the same time. Recruiting Lucas for help, both guys sat on the deck, a sea of trees before them.

"So she's moved on?" Nino asked, tapping his chin with a few fingers. He tried to make sense of everything, how Marinette and Cole met while waiting to board the plane and how close they had gotten in the short amount of time since meeting.

"Well that's the thing, no one knows for sure. But it seems like she's heading that way." Lucas glanced at the three toddlers who were pulling at one another.

"But what if she was? Would that be a problem?" He added, looking back at Nino.

Nino shrugged in reply. "I don't think so, but Alya, well," he sighed, not knowing if he should proceed. If she found out, she'd surely drop kick him into the Seine when they returned home but if she never found out, then he'd be fine... right?

"Go on, it'll stay between us. Guy code."

Nino smiled at Lucas' comment, remembering when Adrien would say the same thing. His smile slowly turned into a frown and he let out another sigh.

"Alya suspects there's more to Adrien's death than what everyone is leading on and I'm starting to think she's right."

Lucas furrowed his brows slightly to give the impression of him being concerned even though he knew everything about Adrien's death. "What do you mean?"

"Well, Marinette wasn't even allowed in to see him before the burial. In most cases, the significant other is always allowed to see what happened. It almost seems as if someone is trying to play off that Adrien got into a terrible accident when in reality, he didn't. Hell, for all we know, Adrien could be walking around with colored contacts and a new name."

Lucas nodded, staring at the other as if his mind had faded to another realm yet millions of thought were rushing around.

"Nino, there's something I've been keeping from you."

Nino immediately gained interest and he raised a brow. "Don't hold back, I'm listening."

The theme song to Nino's favorite show began to play, putting off what Lucas wanted to say. Nino reaches into his pocket, pulled out his cell phone, and clicked accept.

"Hey Alya, what's up?"

"Nino, you and Lucas need to get here now!"

A sudden yell in the background caught Nino's attention and alarms started ringing in his head.

"Was that..."

"Afraid so. Hurry up!"

~•~•~•~
Everything was normal; all three girls were laughing and carrying on, enjoying their vacation but as luck would have it, two certain blondes stood in their direction.

Chloé and Samantha.

Both girls had reached out to one another after learning the truth of their parents past. They became soon became good friends, relying on one another every once in a while for help, as normal siblings would.

After graduation and Sabrina had moved away to pursue her dream school, Chloé sat at home and pondered on everything she had said and did to her classmates, realizing she was in the wrong. Making them feel bad and as if they weren't good enough was becoming mundane to the blonde and once she came into contact with Samantha, she picked up on how her half sister would treat others, one being her ex boyfriend Ryan, who happened to be Eileen's older brother. After seeing how upset Ryan was and the outcome of Samantha's actions, the end of their relationship, Chloé took a step back and evaluated her atrocious attitude.

"Hi Marinette, Alya." Chloé waved at her two old classmates, a small smile on her lips.

Alya turned her nose in disgust, thinking Chloé was the same as always, only baiting them with kindness until the ugly side came out to play.

"Chloé." She said, not looking at the blonde.

Chloé's smile faded and she looked down, knowing she deserved it for making both girls miserable in school. She wanted to reach out and apologize for everything she did but Samantha scoffed and rolled her eyes.

"Listen Mrs. Piggy and Kermit the frog," Samantha started, a hand loosely placed on her hip. "Why don't you two move aside so we can get by without being crushed."

Alya was the one who scoffed next, mimicking Samantha's eye roll. "Nice one. How long did it take for you to come up with that? A year?"

Samantha's eyes narrowed slightly and she turned her head away. "Whatever, come on Chloé, I still need to find a nice dress for Adrikins."

Chloé looked at her quickly, knowing everything that had happened to him by watching all the news channels and reading countless articles online about his accident. "Samantha, don't bring him up. It's a sensitive subject for—"

"Oh shut up Chloé, no one wants to hear your voice."

Before anyone had time to process it, Samantha was shoved to the tile floor of the mall, both wrists were pinned down by the person who had shoved her.

"Eileen!" Everyone's eyes grew wide at the sudden force of Eileen, who sat on top of Samantha, pinning the blonde down with every ounce of energy she had.

~•~•~•~

Voilà!
Samantha is back along with Chloé, although Chloé wasn't in the first book.
