Chapter 32: Boobs and Smooches.
Reign's POV.
Another Friday, another football game.
I was planning on spending my night at home, binging some awful but funny sitcom but Ariana made my phone ring a billion times, I wasn't picking up her calls at first but I did eventually cause it became annoying.
I regretted doing that after she asked me to pick up her duffle bag from her house, she said she 'accidentally' left it at home.
Usually, I wouldn't take those orders from her but I know what cheer means to her so..
I picked up her pink duffle bag and asked for a ride from her brother Xavier, he only agreed to drive me because he thinks I'm Ariana's coolest friend.
Ariana texted me saying they were still in the girl's locker room.
Now I'm lazy walking to the locker room.
I hear loud music and voices singing as I walk closer to the locker room in the hallway.
I let myself inside without knocking, I find most of the girls already dressed in their cheer uniforms, singing along to In my feelings by Drake.
Some of them are even twerking.
I snort a laugh, biting on my lower lip to stop myself from laughing.
"Finally, what took you so long?" Ari rushes towards me, still in her clothes.
"I think you forgot to tell me cheerleading was this fun." I stare at the girls as she unhooks the duffle bag from my shoulder.
"It has its perks." She smiles at me before jogging towards the lockers.
"Put your tits away, I'm coming in." A familiar male voice announces from behind me, I twist my head to look at Jace.
"Jace, how many times?" Jasmine snaps at him while the other girls carry on with their... Celebration.
"Oh c'mon, I've seen it all," He says in an obvious tone as he stands beside me.
"Yeah but not all bodies and body parts are shaped the same." I say to him, he looks at me and furrows his brows.
"Oh wow, Reign Miller at a football game, who died?" He sounds genuinely shocked.
"My pride." I shrug.
"Here you go, I washed it." Penelope Tyson passes him something that looks like a football jersey.
"Thanks, sweetheart." He winks at her, she blushes before turning on her heel and walking away.
You'd be surprised to know the kind of power this guy has on these girls.
"Shouldn't you be dressed by now?" I look at him in a white t-shirt and jeans.
He lifts his shirt, showing me his stomach, or rather what's on his stomach.
"What is that." I wrinkle my face at the round purple bruise on his tight abs.
"Some sick fuck kicked me during training yesterday, It hurts when I run so I'm not playing tonight." He releases his shirt.
"Poor baby." I pat his shoulder, faking a pout.
"Don't make fun of me, I live for football." He playfully glares at me.
"You want me to wear your jersey and scream go Jace on the bleachers even though you won't be playing?" I ask with fake excitement.
"That would be cool, actually." He extends his jersey.
"I was kidding," I laugh, waving him off.
"Nope, you're doing it, you owe me, remember?" He holds my hand and forces me to take the jersey.
Shit, why would I even joke about something like that?
"Fuck my life." I snatch it from his hold, slipping it on and wearing it over my tank top.
"You look hot." He chuckles.
I look down at the baggy thing, it's weirdly comfortable and I just happen to like wearing huge t-shirts.
"I look like one of those naive girlfriends who call themselves supportive." I look up at Jace, he shakes his head at me.
"I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm gonna miss you when you graduate." He slowly nods his head, pursing his pink lips.
I roll my eyes at him, turning around to exit the locker room and not forgetting to drag Jace with me, he wraps his arm around my shoulder as we step out of the locker room, the loud chatter in the hallway belongs to the jocks, making their way to their game.
"I feel like you guys should pray." Jace says to them as they drift passed us.
"You wanna pray for us Jacey boy?" Asks Mason AKA team captain.
"I would but I only pray in my language, and as far as I know, none of you assholes even know how to say Hello in Spanish." He responds.
"Hola Princesa." Damien greets me in Spanish with a wink as he walks next to Luke who stares at the jersey I'm wearing and the arm around my shoulder longer than he's supposed to.
"He's Italian and he grew up in Spain so he doesn't count." I hear Jace whisper in my ear.
Luke and I haven't talked since Wednesday, we had English together yesterday and he was sitting behind me but he wasn't whispering provocative words or writing anything on my back with a sharpie just to get my attention, he was very quiet the entire period and when lunch came around, he decided to sit with other jocks and not at our usual table.
I understood that, I also felt like avoiding him cause what exactly were we supposed to talk about?
Were we supposed to go back to fighting and calling each other names?
No.
Like I said, there's no going back to the way we were before.
The girls migrate from the locker room in a hurry, Jace and I leave way for them until they're all gone.
"So how did things go with Olivia last weekend?" I ask Jace as we stroll the empty hallways.
"Who?" He sounds clueless.
"Olivia? The girl I told you to look after at the costume party?" I question.
"Ooh, you mean Sabrina." He snaps his fingers, pointing at me.
"Bro, her name was Olivia," I nudge him.
"Then why did she let me call her Sabrina the entire night?" He asks.
"Probably because you kept calling her Sabrina and she grew tired of correcting you."
"So Sabrina was not her name?" He questions.
"Shut up before I smack you." I say, feeling annoyed.
"Shit, now I feel bad." He halts, looking at me.
"You should," I nod, "Anyway, did she have a good time?" We continue walking, stepping out of the school.
"I couldn't tell, she barely laughed or said anything, I think she was scared cause she held my hand the entire night like someone was coming to take her away or some shit." He smiles at me, his curly brown hair flopping with the wind.
"Did you think she was like weird?" I ask as we head to the alley that leads to the bleachers.
"No," He shakes his head, "She was... normal." He mutters, I nod in agreement.
"She is normal." I respond.
"So, I don't think I'm gonna be able to recognize her without the Sabrina wig and costume." He says.
"That was the point." I laugh.
"But I wanna apologize for calling her the character she was wearing and-"
"No, Jace, don't try to drag that girl into the abnormal, let her be normal. It looks good on her." I cut in on his pathetic speech.
The dude literally has a girlfriend and I know he'd want nothing but to hit, that's all they ever think about.
Sex and football.
*****************
"Reign." He pats my cheek, I flutter my eyes open. "You're drooling on my shirt." He says, I raise my head from his shoulder and wipe my mouth.
I wasn't drooling.
"Penelope will wash it." I rub my eyes, narrowing them at the people who are getting up and leaving. "Wait, who won?" I ask Jace.
I literally slept throughout the game, I wasn't seeing anything and trying to understand the game based on the crowds reaction was just exhausting so I decided to nap, now it looks like I over napped.
"We won." He informs me.
"Wait seriously?" I breathe out a laugh.
"Yep." He's staring at the field.
"Go Jace!" I stand, flying my arms in the air and living up to my promise, people glance at me.
"Sit your ass down, you're embarrassing me." Jace yanks my- his jersey and I sit back down.
"I seriously thought they were gonna lose." I whisper to him, he chuckles.
"Me too but that Damien kid brought his A game." He says.
I shift my gaze to the field, the jocks and the cheerleaders have circled around on something or maybe someone.
"What's happening?" I ask.
"It better be a fight." Jace gets up and descends down the seats on the bleachers, I follow just in case it is in fact a fight.
Jock fights are actually the best.
We walk through the gate that separates the bleachers from the field, hurrying to the scene.
We reach them but it's totally not a fight, bummer. It's just Damien having a conversation with a cheerleader from the rival team.
But why are they all listening attentively?
I spot Luke standing next to Abby, she has her elbow resting on his shoulder and she tiptoes to whisper something in his ear, he smirks and looks at her over his shoulder, responding to whatever she said.
I don't care.
You don't care.
We don't care.
"C'mon, baby, we had a deal." Damien says to the cheerleader, she twirls a piece of her brown hair, looking around her as she chews gum in lazy strokes.
"Okay, fine, I'll do it." She slumps her shoulders, looking defeated.
Do it? I think she means do a backflip or something but I'm proven wrong when she lifts her cheer top, her boobs fall out involuntarily and she turns in a circle, flashing everyone.
The crowd cheers while my mouth falls open.
"Holy fucking shit." I hear Jace say in shock beside me.
She faces Damien, he has his eyes on her boobs, he doesn't even look impressed.
He looks at her face and sighs, she pulls her top down and stares back.
"Nice face." She says to him, I hear Jace scoff at that.
"Nice boobs, I guess." Damien responds in a blunt tone.
We all snicker, and then she randomly fists Damien's jersey and yanks him in for a steamy kiss, he kisses her back, groping her ass and deepening the kiss, knowing that the crowd will probably go wild and they do go wild.
Fucking attention seekers.
I find myself searching for Luke again but he's no longer here, neither is Abby.
"Hey! the fuck are you doing?" A guy from the other team jumps in and pulls the girl from Damien's embrace.
"Just having a little fun, man, chill." He heaves.
"You just kissed my girl, asshole, don't tell me to fucking chill." The guy gets up in Damien's personal space.
Looks like we're going to have that fight after all.
"Or maybe your girl kissed me, But why would she kiss me when you're clearly the best boyfriend in history of best boyfriends." His sarcastic tone remarks.
"Small dick." Garrett coughs into his fist, the crowd erupts in a series of laughter.
"Maybe I'll grab one of your girls next time, yeah?" The guy grits out.
"Why next time? I dare you to do it right now." Damien says with ease.
And like it couldn't get any more dramatic, the guy decides to grab the nearest girl to him, but Damien grasps the guy's neck and slams his forehead against the guy's face, headbutting him. The collision causes the guy to fall backwards, landing on the grass as blood spills from his nose and he grunts in pain.
Damn.
"That's our cue." Jace holds my arm and drags me away from the scene, just as the other guys from the rival team start approaching.
"But it's just getting good." I stumble, watching them.
"No, it's just getting messy." He corrects.
"I can't believe that girl showed everyone her boobs." I rub the back of my neck, walking next to Jace.
"I love high school." He says proudly, his words make me cringe.
"You're literally the only person that's ever said that." I say, looking back at what might become a team versus team fight.
The Idiocy.
"No seriously though, I'm gonna miss all this unnecessary drama that goes on around here, I mean where else am I going to see boobs and smooches after a football game?" He walks backwards while he expresses with his hands, I giggle at his words.
