Restless I walk through my room. Why is there no call from school.....? Suddenly my phone rings. I get it immediately and ....... It's Max. "Hey" he says cheerfully. "Hey" I mumble. Max laughs. "Haha you thought it was the teachers who called you!" Max seems to find it hilarious. "Haha" I say sarcastically.

"Shall we wait at my house?" Max asks. Of course I want that. Everything is better than here at my house. My parents and sisters are just like very excited for The call, but for a slightly different reason; they want me out of their house. I look at my clothes. Tight black pants and a T-shirt with a grumpy cat with the text: 'This is my Happy face.' Fine. "OK. I'll be there in fifteen minutes."

I knock on the door and Max opens it immediately. "Come on in." Says Max with a shrill tone that makes me laugh. My nerves are spontaneously gone. He steps aside so I can enter his house. His house, a houseboat, is a 10 meter boat and it has 3 floors.
"My family isn't at home." He says when he sees me looking around. His family, like mine, does not approve of us being together. Max is the one to blame for everything here. We are both in the same position

Max leads me to his room. It is on the 3rd floor and has white walls. There is a bed, a closet, a bedside table, a desk and a few posters on the wall. Not so much. I lie down on his bed and rise to the ceiling. What if I didn't pass? Then I have to stay here a year longer.
"We're going to succeed. Both of us." Max says with a smile.

Max's phone rings. His eyes widen when he sees who it is. "School" he mutters. I nod, suddenly nervous again. What if Max passes and I don't?

Max hangs up and looks at me with a big smile. "I made it!" I jump towards him and hug him. "Well done."
Max looks at me. "Now we wait for your phone to ring."

"Maybe your exam is at the bottom of the pile?" I shake my head. Max is making up all sorts of weak exucus to make me feel better but I know what this is. I did not pass. The school calls until 5:00 PM and it is now 4:54 PM. I've been waiting all day. No phone call, nothing. Max has been talking all the time but I haven't listened. I made a plan. Even if I did not pass, I will still leave together with Max.

5:04 and my phone rings. I get it and answer the call. "Hello, you are talking to Joseline." The voice on the other side answers. "Hi Joseline. I'm Patricia Wolf, the headmaster of your school. It's a little later than usual, but your exam was on the bottom of the pile. You passed, congratulations!" OMG! I passed. I'm really jumping now. I hang up and look at Max. "I passed!" Max comes to me and hugs me tightly.
