Chapter Nine
Jorel's POV.
A few hours later I woke up to the smell of coffee being freshly brewed. Vanessa was still sleeping beside me.
Carefully I got up and tugged on a shirt and headed down to the kitchen. Brooke stood with her back to me at the stove flipping pancakes.
"Really Brooke?" I asked plopping down on one of the bar chairs.
She jumped back from the stove, her hand flew up and knocked over the bowl of pancake mix. She turned and glared daggers at me.
"A little warning next time would be nice." She said bitterly.
"Sorry." I said and began to help her clean up. "So today's the big day huh?"
"What the hell are you talking about?"
"You're date. With George."
Her eyes went wide and she ran out of the kitchen and back up to her room.
Soon Vanessa came into the room wearing one of my shirts. She came up behind me and hugged my waist.
"She forgot about the date didn't she?" I nodded my head, Vanessa laughed. "I'm gonna go to out and get her a new outfit real quick. What size is she in dresses?"
I thought for a minute then said, "Probably a size three. Give or take."
"Okay I'll be back later."
After I had all the pancake mix cleaned up I headed back upstairs to check on Brooke.
When I got to her door I was met with a shoe hitting me square in the face. "What the hell is going on up here?!" I yelled and ducked out of the way of a flying pair of pants.
"I don't have.." She tossed a shirt over her shoulder. "An outfit to wear for this damn date..." Another shirt got tossed behind her, hitting me on the head. I frowned and stared at her. She turned around yelling, "AND I'M FREAKING OUT!!"
Another pair of pants hit me in the head and got caught. When she saw me she immediately burst out laughing.
"Yeah." I yanked her pants off and tossed them back to her. "Real funny Brooklyn."
"I-I'm so-sorry!!" She said through a series of laughs.
"Whatever." I grumbled and walked over to her closet. "Well Vanessa is out getting you a dress so I'm pretty sure that you can stop tearing your wardrobe to pieces."
She paused and sat down on her bed. I could tell that she was beyond the point of freaking out. Heh my baby sister was to the point where she was about to rip her hair out. Her hands kept shaking and her breathing became deep and slow.
I picked up her clothes and sat them in a pile in front of her. "Here help me fold these back up." I said and sat down on the floor.
While me and her folded I couldn't help but think about why she would be so hesitant about dating. I mean she's never really been on a date before so I didn't really see what her problem would be.
"Hey Brooke can I ask you something? Now you don't have to answer, I'm just wondering."
A smile flicked across her face for a second like a light being turned on and off. "What is it Jay?"
"Well I was wondering why you don't like dating." I waited quietly and continued to fold her clothes while she thought of how to phrase her words.
"Jay it's not that I don't like dating, it's the fact that I've never had anyone to properly love me the way that I should have been. Mom and dad left me when I was just six years old and I never got to see you growing up so yeah it's a bit hard to put myself out there now that I'm out of state care." She sighed and threw a blue tank top at me, this time though I caught it and threw it right back at her.
"Which I'm pretty sure is why you set me up with George." She gave me this knowing look. I held my hands up in defense.
"Hey you can't blame me for trying."
She rolled her eyes and went back to folding, "True."
"Well it was pretty easy too considering he wouldn't leave your side after we brought you back home. I will admit though at first I got pissed off, but I figured that it was worth a shot."
We both looked at each other and laughed. I knew that she knew what I'd been thinking. "Oh god if you had set me up with Jordon that wouldn't have turned out good!"
"I can agree to that!"
The front door slammed and soon Vanessa's voice filled the house, "JOREL!? BROOKE??"
"We're upstairs V!" I yelled to her.
Vanessa kicked the door open and dropped a few shopping bags on the floor along with a couple boxes of shoes. I glanced over at Brooke. She had a look of horror covering her face. Clearly her distaste for high heels, skirts, and dresses never changed after all these years.
"Uhm Vanessa I don't think that all of this was necessary because I more than likely will wear one thing out of all of this." She said taking in the sight of all the clothes that V had bought her.
To me this moment was priceless. My baby sister was going to become a dress up doll for my girlfriend and Brooke can't do anything about it. Yeah this was a good day.
Vanessa turned to me and gestured toward the door, "You. Out now."
Well someone's feeling a bit demanding today, I thought as I exited the room. I glanced down at my phone and ran for the door.
"Fuck fuck fuck fuck!!" I cried as I grabbed my car keys and head to the diner. I can't believe that I had forgotten about the meeting with the record company!
Thankfully I had made it to the studio only five minutes later than I had planned earlier in the week.
When I arrived Damon was already in the studio listening to our demo cd with two guys on either side of him. When they saw me they all stood up and shook my hand.
"Sorry I'm late. I had to help my sister get ready for a date."
"No worries man." The guy on the left said as we sat back down.
"I hope you don't mind that Evan and Drake are here. They're kind of my assistants."
"No not a problem."
Wow he needs assistants too? What's with people these days? Can't seem to do shit themselves or what?
"So I've been listening to the cd for a while and I think that there is a lot of potential here for you guys."
I leaned back in my chair and thought, Huh I actually expected something totally different.
"Listen Jorel, you guys have this edge that is very raw and the lyrics demand the attention of the person who's listening. Now I'm going to be honest and get straight to the point, on Monday I want you and the rest of your band to come in and discuss a deal alright?"
The amount of shock and surprise that I felt was almost suffocating me. My throat felt dry and swollen to where all I could do was nod my head.
"Great. We'll see you all on Monday."
With that I went back out to my truck and headed home.
When I got back to the house I had made it back right as George was pulling up out front. I got out of my truck and waited for him to meet me.
"Hey." He said coming up to me.
"You know what I'm gonna say right?" I gestured for him to follow me up to the house.
George smiled and clapped me on the back, "Yeah probably. And trust me I won't let anything happen to her."
I nodded and opened the door to let him in. "I know you won't, but I'm going to say it anyway; Take care of her."
"I will..." His words trailed off as he looked over my shoulder towards the stairs.
I turned to see what he was looking at and I swear that my jaw damn near hit the floor.
The girl that stood before me did not look anything like my baby sister. This girl looked absolutely stunning and grown up. Vanessa had dressed her in a skin tight black bandage dress with stilettos. She had curled her hair and pinned half of it back.
She waved awkwardly and her cheeks blazed red from mine and George's reactions. Vanessa came up behind her and pushed her forward.
"You look beautiful Brooklyn." I said and hugged her quickly before passing her off to George. "Remember what I said!" I called to him as the door shut.
"How'd I do with transforming your baby sister to a grown woman?" V asked with a smirk.
"You did amazing. Now my only worry is if he treats her good."
Vanessa swatted my chest and frowned. "Jorel Decker have faith in your best friend!" She scolded me then walked to the kitchen to get started on dinner.

George's POV.
When you look at me you'd more than likely see a grown man with more than enough tattoos, huge muscles, and you'd probably expect for me to have a gun on me right?
Yeah you would.
You'd expect all of that on the outside, but not what's going on the inside.
Inside of me at the moment I'd say that my stomach is killing me from all the nerves and my heart is damn well bout to beat it's way out of my chest.
So basically I'm just this bad ass twenty something year old taking his best friend's nineteen year old sister on date who's about to run away like a dog with its tail between his legs. Yeah this is just the greatest start to this date.
"George? You okay man?" Brooklyn asked sweetly from the passenger seat.
I nodded once and tried to focus more on the road rather than the smell of strawberries that seemed to be filling my car.
She sighed and plugged up her iPod to my stereo. The first song that played was White Wedding by Billy Idol. I smiled to myself and turned the music up louder when I saw her quietly mouthing the words. By the end of the chorus she was singing along with the platinum haired 80s singer.
She looked back over at me and blushed a deeper shade of red than the Crimson hair dye that Vanessa was looking at last week. And that's saying something, that girl sure as hell loves her dark colors.
"What?" She said smiling.
I shook my head and got out of the car, I held her door open for her. "Nothing it's just that you looked like you were really having fun singing."
She shrugged and held onto my hand as we walked. "So where is it that we're going?"
"It's a surprise."
She looked up at me worried. "It's a good surprise, trust me."
We walked a little bit further and soon I could hear the sounds of traffic screeching to a halt and late night party goers. I looked up to see the sign for Jordon's favorite club. I pulled her with me up to the door and the bouncer let us in.
"A club?" She asked in disbelief. For a second I thought that maybe I should just walk out of the club and take her to the movies or something but then a huge grin broke across her face and she pulled me out to the dance floor.
We danced for a good half hour before she led me to a back booth. Her smile never left her face the whole time and that made my own smile stay in place. She ended up ordering me a few rounds of beer and she had a couple Strawberry Daiquiris.
"So," she started then hiccuped. "Mr. Three Tears."
"Yes Miss Decker?" I said taking another swig of my beer. She giggled and leaned on my shoulder.
"I've got something for you."
"Really?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.
She nodded her head and pulled out a customized Lakers jersey that had a 3 on the back and said Undead at the top.
I opened my mouth to thank her but she cut me off by holding up her hand. "There's more."
She reached back into her bag and pulled out a black SnapBack that read O.G Gangster. I couldn't help but smile at that one.
"Ava has a matching hat for this as well but her's says Undead Gangster." She sighed and smiled. "I tried to talk her into getting her to change it to Undead Princess but she had her heart set on Undead Gangster."
"It's fine Brooklyn. I love it." I took off the hat I had worn out and placed it on Brooklyn and put on the new hat; it fit perfectly.
Brooklyn fixed the hat on her head then snuggled up on my chest.
Wow. It amazed me how she could go from being so hesitant around me to a girl who seems to have grown to trust me. And the fact that Ava really seems to like her was even better. There was nothing more that I could've wanted than to have Ava approve of the next girl I dated.
I sighed happily, leaned down and kissed the top of Brooklyn's head. In return she tilted her head up to kiss me.
Her lips felt soft and were coated in the alcohol from her drink. Gently I cupped her face with my hand and pulled her face closer to mine. Her lips parted and she slid her tongue into my mouth.
We sort of ended up practically on top of each other in the booth making out heavily until one of the waitresses came up to us and told us that we had to leave.
Brooklyn hid her face in my shoulder as we walked out of the club, clearly embarrassed by what just happened. I laughed at her and kissed her again.
"It's not funny." She grumbled and got in the car.
"You don't see how adorable you are when you're blushing do you?" She shook her head 'no'.
"Well you're absolutely adorable when you do."
"Whatever you're just saying that." I could tell that she was trying to act mad by the way that she kept forcing the smile off her face.
I walked around to my side of the car and got in. Before starting the car I turned to face her and held her hands in mine.
"Brooklyn you really are beautiful and I wish that you could see what I see when I look at you. Honestly when I see you I see an amazing woman who has been through hell and back just to come out stronger than she ever was, and to be placed back in the arms of her brother and mine so that she can have the proper family and love that she's always deserved."
Again my heart was beating so fast and loud that I could swear that she could hear it. If I was a cartoon character I'm pretty sure that you would see my heart pounding in and out of my chest from how nervous I was.
Hell I was more nervous now than earlier this evening! I mean here I am some odd years later after Asia left me and I'm pouring my heart and soul out to Brooklyn and so far she hasn't said anything yet.
"Did I say something wrong babe?" I asked quietly. I could hear her sniffle. Maybe it was just too much for her to handle? Way to go Ragan! Leave it to you to fuck up on the first date!
"Nothing's wrong George. In fact nothing could be any better right now!" She cried and wiped the tears off her face. "You just said what I've been waiting to hear for years."
My body quickly relaxed. "So I'm making a pretty good impression so far?" I asked still somewhat nervous.
She nodded and leaned over and kissed my lips before settling back in her seat. "Can I just say something real quick?"
"Of course."
"I just want to tell you that I've never felt this way before. Now I know that you've probably heard that before but it's true. Yes I was with Asia for a long time but she never made me feel the way that I do with you."
She gave me a sweet smile and pulled her knees up to her chest. "I think I might be in love with you." She said just barely above an audible whisper.
I'm pretty sure that she thought that I didn't hear her so I let her think that I didn't. With that I drove her back to Jorel's house.
Right as she was about to walk inside I pulled her back to me and pressed my lips to hers softly.
"Finally got your goodnight kiss." She said and went inside.

Jorel's POV.
Around ten fifty-five Brooklyn walked into the house, her face was red and sweaty and her hair was a bit tangled.
For a while I thought that she had pissed off some bitch and gotten into a fight or something. I shrugged it off and went back to texting Matt.
"Jorel! You will not believe what Brooke just told me!" Vanessa cried in a hushed whisper.
"So what happen?"
"I'm not sure entirely but i do know that they went out to a club, she gave him the stuff that she got him, and he told her that he's never felt "like this before". And that she thinks that she might be in love with him!"
I smiled to myself and wrapped my arm around her shoulders. I guess my decision about letting George date Brooklyn was good. I just hope that it stays good.

After me and Vanessa finished watching a marathon of Tim Burton movies we both ended up going to bed around four o'clock.
For some reason my mind wouldn't let me sleep properly. I kept tossing and turning the rest of the night and images of me and Vanessa kept filling my mind.
There was one image that kept my mind reeling. It was taking place where I was on stage with guys performing for the largest crowd I've ever seen, and Vanessa was off to the side with two small little girls. I wondered why they were standing with Vanessa. All three of them waved at me and smiled brightly.
"Daddy!!" Both of the little girls yelled to me and ran to my side when the song ended.
Wait...daddy?!
When they reached me I saw that one of them had dark shoulder length hair and Vanessa's eyes. The other had my eyes and V's natural blonde hair color.
The dream eventually melted away and I was brought back to reality. I sat up slowly and looked over at Vanessa. She was sleeping peacefully with a small smile tugging at the corner of her mouth.
Could that happen? Would we be able to start a family? I sighed and laid back down next to her and pulled her body close to me.
