A life lesson of sorts, one to teach that love is not a plaything. Especially when she has already fallen in love with the son that would cause her so-called great heartbreak.

Katherine Lawrence has spent her entire life living in luxury.

Whether that meant living in a mansion with crystal and golden chandeliers, touring every single country in Europe during the summer, getting everything she wanted, or just the luxury of having a father who was willing to give up whatever he was doing to be by her side.

And while all of those were nice luxuries to have, Katherine was missing out on one very important luxury. Love.

And no, not parental love, her father loved her very much and her mother made sure to visit every weekend. But love love. Like, the type of love that causes those butterflies in your stomach and your face to turn red. Or the type of love that you could only watch from a screen. Or the type of love that you could only ever read from a book.

Katherine had spent a lot of her life wondering what that felt like. Her dad would always say that she would know when she loved someone but she was impatient. Why did she have to wait so long to feel love? I mean, she had boyfriend after boyfriend in a desperate attempt to feel those butterflies but it never worked. She must have dated every boy her age in Mission Creek.

She knew that she was rather a hard person to be around due to her never beating around the bush when it came to questions or observations. Her last relationship ended because she couldn't help but laugh at his new haircut. And the one before that ended because he didn't like how she couldn't control her facial expressions.

Her dad would hold her and tell her that she'd find the right person with time and that she couldn't force love.

Katherine thought he sounded stupid but knew not to push it too far.

But, who knew that right when she was about to give up on finding her young love, her dad would seal a deal with the other rich man down the road?
