December Special Twenty-Seven: Floofy Cushions

A/N: Hello my marvellous Greekies! I hope you're doing amazing today! Okay, so, I've had to do a tiny bit of research on same-sex marriage for this fic, and I've just realized that I was very wrong about it being made legal in the 1980s, it was actually made legal in 2013 in the UK ... based on this website: https://www.parliament.uk/about/living-heritage/transformingsociety/private-lives/relationships/overview/lawofmarriage-/ (last paragraph). I'm so sorry to the same-sex couples here! But you'd be in your fifties before you could legally get married! Basically mid-life for them. I would also like to say, you know how the US prides itself on it's "equality" n' shit? Yeah, they made gay marriage legal a frekaing DECADE after Canada, and two years after the UK. Right, "equality". (In case you didn't want to solve my math problem, Canada made gay marriage legal in 2005, the UK in 2013, and the US in 2015) Anyhow, this chapter is 2.7k words long, and RobinHood37 made the lovely aesthetic above!

Evan sighed as he felt another little kid clutch onto his robes while he went to the nearest orphanage. This time a little boy with black hair and quite startling sea-green eyes. Evan thought he was probably the same age as the blonde girl, and his parents told him they saw the little boy controlling a puddle of water around two weeks ago.

Evan just sighed as he patted the little boy's head. He had put a disillusionment charm on him and told his parents he would be going out for the day. He was just thankful his parents didn't care where he went, as long as he came home in one piece and still acted like he was a king amongst wizards, he was good.

Obviously, if he had told his parents he was going to Olivia's house, they would've locked him in his own bedroom. He wasn't really sure if they were fine with him dating Liv, the only problem was, he hadn't actually told them yet. He didn't want to risk not being able to even go near Olivia, so he has just kept it a little secret, just for him amongst his family. He thought the only real reasons that they wouldn't like Olivia would be because her parents are both males, and one of them was a muggle, plus she was a Gryffindor (Okay, That was pretty big). But she was pureblood, so that had to count for something... yeah it probably wouldn't...

Evan just sighed through his nose and shook his head. It wasn't worth the risk, they'd probably want to "cleanse the taint of muggle and homosexuality" off of her. Evan shuddered as he thought about what that could mean.

Evan felt the little boy beside him trip a little, and Evan slowed down just a tad as he patted the little boys head. They were just a few seconds away from the orphanage. Luckily Evan made it there without any other mishaps and told the little boy the same thing he told the little girl, releasing the spell from off of him. Evan knocked on the door and out came Ms H.

"Oh, hello Evan dear, and this is another one you found? You must be going to the not so nice parts of town to find all these missing children," Ms H said as she smiled at Evan, then looked at the little boy. Evan just played with his fingers, a so nice part of town, yeah, that could explain his family's entire manor pretty well.

"Would you like to come in?" Ms H asked the little boy when he looked sceptically at her, she just smiled warmly as she started persuading him. "My name is Ms H by the way. The other kids love to guess what the H stands for, would you like to have a guess?" She asked.

The little boy fuzzled his eyebrows before getting a bright expression. Evan wondered how the little boy could have such a bright expression without wincing, he knew this little boy had been quite stubborn in the fact that he wouldn't "break".

"Hermes!" He shouted excitedly in an American accent, and Ms H just laughed.

"You are so very close, would you like to come in and walk with me to the dining hall while you guess some more?" Ms H asked as she held out her hand.

"Do you have blue food?" The little boy asked.

Ms H just smiled and nodded. "Of course, do you like blueberries?" She asked.

"Yeah!" The little boy shouted before turning around to hug Evan. "Thank you," He said before all but tripping over himself to get his blueberries.

Evan just tried not to wince as he looked at Ms H, who was smiling.

"We found the little girl's parents. Well, I found her mother, who told me her father had custody and told me where he lived. Would you like to know the girl's name?" Ms H asked warmly.

Evan was about to say yes before he swallowed down his answer. He didn't deserve to know the girl's name, his family had tortured her, he shouldn't really be creating even the smallest bonds with them.

"No thank you," Evan said then, to hopefully not sound completely like the cold-hearted pureblood supremacist he was born and raised to be he added, "I'm happy she found her family though. Have a nice day."

Ms H bid him a good day as well as he waited for her to go inside, looking around, and apparating to Olivia's house.

𝕺𝖑𝖎𝖛𝖎𝖆'𝖘 𝕻𝖔𝖎𝖓𝖙 𝖔𝖋 𝖁𝖎𝖊𝖜:

Olivia flopped onto her bed as she checked the time on the brand-new clock she got for Christmas. It was just a few minutes before Evan was supposed to come over and she would be lying if she said she wasn't excited.

Since the first time Evan met her parents went so well, she had no worries. It wasn't like they suddenly would just hate him, as long as she acted like the gentleman he was, then he'd be brilliant. Her meeting his parents? Totally different story.

Sure she knew that her blood status immediately put her in the "don't kill on the spot" area, but she also knew full well that she was a proud Gryffindor, one of her dads was a muggle and that she had two dads. She would very well go down fighting for her parents if anyone gave a shit about them being homosexual. They weren't married, so technically it wasn't illegal, they just legally changed their last names. No marriage certificate or anything, unfortunately.

Olivia just fidgeted with her blonde hair before she heard the doorbell ring. She immediately leapt out of bed as she ran to the front door, just barely managing to get there before he dad.

Her dad chuckled before letting her open the door. She rolled her eyes with a smile at his chuckling as she opened the door, revealing a smiling Evan.

"Hey Liv," He said, raising his hand to say hello. "Mr Tucker-James, or, your husband did ask me to call you Daniel, correct?" Evan asked as he held out his hand for Olivia's dad to shake.

Olivia's dad smiled before shaking Evan's hand, "Yes he did, but legally he's my boyfriend, not my husband. But you can call him my husband anytime you'd like," he said with a smile before Evan started taking off his black leather gloves and putting them in his pockets, hanging his -- you guessed it, black -- (Olivia quite liked his black aesthetic going on though, she has to admit it was just a tad sexy) coat on the coat hanger. Olivia, on the other hand, just rolled her eyes at her dad. He, and her father, said that to anyone who called them husband and husband, she really just wished that Britain, and everywhere else for that matter, would make gay marriage legal!

Evan gave a gentlemen's award smile to Olivia's dad and Olivia took him by the hand and led him inside the house. Olivia smiled brightly as she led him through the living room, but saw him crane his neck to look at something. Olivia stopped pulling him to take a peek at what he was staring at, and saw he was looking over the couch and to the ... the television?

Olivia looked from Evan to her father, -- who was watching a muggle telly program -- to the telly, and back to Evan. She snickered for a moment as she remembered Evan had never seen a real muggle television.

"I forgot you haven't watched a real muggle telly before," Olivia said giggling while Evan played with his fingers.

"I-- I mean, it -- it has to have some magic look at it!" Evan said as he gestured to the people on the television.

Olivia just laughed before she had an idea, "Hey, you're going to be here the entire day, right?" she asked, still holding his hand.

Evan looked at her a tad bit sceptical, "Yes, why?" he asked.

Olivia's smile grew, "Why don't we have a movie marathon?" she asked, "I know a telly program that just plays Disney movies, we could watch that," Olivia saw that her father seemed to hear her as he turned off the television and came over to them.

Evan immediately noticed him and held out his right hand (the one that Olivia wasn't holding) as her father shook it.

"The television's all yours," he said with a smile and a wink as he headed to his bedroom.

Olivia rolled her eyes before looking back to Evan, "So?" she asked with a hopeful smile.

"Sure. But what's Disney?" Evan asked and Olivia's mouth dropped as she started explaining what Disney was to Evan while leading him over to the couch.

...

After watching about two movies, they were buried under many floofy cushions they had gotten from the closet and Olivia's room when there were commercial breaks. Olivia smiled as she leaned her head on Evan's chest while they were watching Disney's animated Robin Hood.

"I don't understand, the fox can talk and walk like a human? What is it? A transfiguration spell gone wrong?" Evan asked curiously as he rubbed his hand along Oliva's arm.

Olivia just giggled, "No, it isn't, it's just an animation for children to enjoy," she explained.

"Alright, so the fox steals from the king to give to the peasants?" Evan inquired.

"I mean, that's the story of Robin Hood you know. Steal from the rich and give to the poor and all."

"Hmm," Evan said in a curious tone as he watched the movie with unblinking eyes. Olivia thought it was rather cute, the pureblood boy watching an animated movie meant for little muggle children and being intrigued. She was convinced he had missed out on his childhood from not watching a single Disney film, Disney was practically one of the staples in Olivia's childhood.

Olivia just watched the cute little film, she had always thought it was just an adorable animation style. Olivia quite liked the peace of just watching a movie with her boyfriend. Speaking of Evan, he was positive that his main goal and Christmas day had been to spoil her worse than milk left out for a week since about half the presents under the Christmas tree had been for Olivia, from him. She had gotten pretty much everything under the sun that Evan would have thought of, not to mention a ton of clothes in her style. No wonder he had asked her about her clothing style in the little shops when they were at the Christmas fair.

"Where's your toilet again?" Evan asked once the commercial break came on and Olivia got up off of his chest.

"First on your right in the hallway," Olivia said. "While you go, I'll go make some hot cocoa," she said smiling, and then Evan gave her an intrigued look.

"You know how to make hot cocoa?" he inquired with a slight tilt of his head as he got up and Olivia just made a noise of disbelief at him.

"Are you saying you don't know how to make hot cocoa, the muggle or the wizarding way?" Olivia asked with her eyes wide and her mouth open.

Evan sheepishly chuckled, "Is that a bad thing?" he asked while playing with his fingers slightly.

"Just go," Olivia said with a smile as she gently pushed Evan in the direction of their bathroom, "I'll wait for you," she added as she went over to the kitchen. She rummaged through the cupboard to find some graham crackers, giant marshmallow, cocoa powder, chocolate chips, and powdered sugar then she headed over to the fridge to get milk. She smiled to herself, in honour of Evan learning how to make hot cocoa for the first time, they were going to make s'mores hot cocoa.

Evan came out from the bathroom and Olivia saw his confused stare at the things on the counter, she just sighed as she shook her head and gestured for him to come over.

"I thought we were making hot cocoa?" He asked as he stood by Olivia.

"Yes, but I thought I'd make it just a tad bit special, we're making s'mores hot cocoa!" Olivia said excitedly.

Evan just looked interested while Olivia walked him through the steps. Olivia found it adorable how Evan was quite unsure about what he was doing, but still tried his best. Olivia placed him in charge of watching the marshmallows as they broiled since it seemed like the easiest thing he could do.

"Okay, so you're going to watch the marshmallows until they start to turn golden-brown, then you should tell me," Olivia instructed before going to get some milk.

Evan nodded, "Okay, but why do I have to watch it?" he asked.

"Because if you don't, it'll burn, which makes the smoke detector beep," Olivia explained as she started to just eyeball about two mugs worth of milk. Olivia looked over and saw Evan's confused expression, and chuckled as she remembered he probably didn't know what a smoke detector was. "Beeping is bad," she said simply.

Evan nodded again in understanding as he watched the marshmallows, after a minute or so he spoke up, "Hey dearest, I think they're done," he said.

Olivia looked up from where she was watching the milk as it heated up, "Are you sure?" she asked before taking her eyes off of the saucepan (A/N: It took me a total of thirty minutes to figure out what a saucepan was called, I kept on searching up: What is that pot/pan combo called?) and over to where Evan was dutifully watching the marshmallows. She had blushed just a bit when Evan had called her dearest, he hadn't really used pet names like that before. Olivia would be lying if she said she didn't like it.

Olivia took a look and saw that they were, indeed, golden brown. Olivia grabbed an oven mitt to take out the marshmallows and showed Evan how to make the chocolate sauce to drizzle on top of the hot cocoa. She explained to put the chocolate chips into the bag with a bit of butter (which she got from the fridge) and put in there for ten-second intervals until it was smooth. Olivia realized Evan had probably never used a microwave in his entire life, so she explained how it would work and how it would beep when it was done.

"I thought you said beeping was bad," Evan said, and Olivia realized what she had said did contradict each other, especially if the person she was talking to had no idea what a smoke alarm or a microwave was.

"In this instance, it just means whatever you're microwaving is done," Olivia said smiling as she pressed a kiss to Evan's cheek and went back to watching the milk heat up.

Evan shrugged before going to do what Olivia asked, and she was glad that he didn't hex the microwave when it beeped. She had heard stories from some of her friends about when they showed their pureblood friends their microwave, most of them hexed the poor metal box into oblivion. A few moments later Evan happily came over with a bag full of melted chocolate sauce. Olivia smiled as she showed Evan what she was doing to make the hot cocoa, and he was quite fascinated by everything.

Olivia quickly finished and showed Evan how to put all the toppings on, and the two quickly cleaned up (Evan just ended up using magic to clean everything up for her) before getting their mugs and heading back over to the television. Sure they had missed some of the movies, but the plotline was still pretty easy to follow, it was a children's animated movie after all.

Olivia smiled with her mug as she laid her head on Evan's chest, she felt Evan press a kiss to the top of her head and she smiled even wider. They spent the rest of the day just watching the movies (Olivia explaining a few things here and there that Evan just didn't understand) and relaxing.

Question For Your OC: Do they have an accent/mannerisms that aren't British?

For Hel, she has a Norweigan accent because the first language she learned was Norweigan (Loki took the liberty of having her learn her mother tongue first) before she started learning Ancient Norse, Old Norse, Icelandic, you get the gist. I don't think I made her have any non-Britsh habits or anything though.
