"Oh, I'm so sorry I didn't know!" Audrey exclaimed, her cheeks darkening to a shade of red with embarrassment.
The dark haired girl laughed, "It's okay, I don't look the type, do I?"
Audrey nodded, immediately feeling silly because the girl couldn't see her. "Yeah actually, I don't mean to be rude, it's just.."
"Support dog and sunglasses? I usually walk around town without my dog, Cooper. And as for the sunglasses, I don't like them. I don't want to be treated 'special,' you know?" The girl explained.
"Yes, I understand. Anyways, Ill help you pick a book then get you a cassette tape for it," Audrey smiled, feeling silly again.
After a bit of searching through the box, Audrey helped the girl pick out a romance tape. "I love romance, it's one of my favorite genres. Probably because I'm most likely going to be alone forever, who wants to date a blind girl?" She asked.
Audrey put the tape and the player in a bag and printed out the receipt, "Oh, I bet someone will find you. Your soul mate is out there, you just have to be patient."
"Thank you," the girl beamed, "My name is Belle by the way."
"I'm Audrey, I really like your name, it's adorable," Audrey handed the bag over to Belle, their hands touching for a few moments before Belle was able to take hold of the bag.
"Thanks for the help!" Belle smiled and made her way out of the store.
Audrey leaned on the counter and smiled, blushing a little. This time, it wasn't out of embarrassment.
Near 7 o'clock, the last of the people in the store cleared out, and Audrey flipped the open sign back to closed. She pulled the name tag off and set it on the counter behind the register after locking the doors tight then headed upstairs to change and watch tv.

She picked up her buzzing phone, accepting the incoming call. "Hey mom, checking in on me?"
"You know me so well," her mother chuckled through the phone. "I just wanted to ask how your day was?"
"It was good, I sold a lot today! A few wanted to advertise their books, and I flipped through one quickly. It was really good and a few sold! I have them a call so they can collect three fourths of the money."
"Sounds interesting! Any cute guys?"
"Mom."
"What?"
"I'm a lesbian, mom. Have been since for a while now."
"Oh alright, any cute girls?"
"No, it was mostly some older folks with their kids, around 5-10," Audrey paused for a moment. "But there was this one girl, Belle. She didn't look too bad, and she was really polite."
Audrey held the phone away from her ear as her mother let out a squeal.
"Tell me, what did she look like?!"
"Well.. she had adorable short brown hair, these beautiful chocolate brown eyes, and her voice had a little accent to it, like she was from France or someplace near there."
"That's it?"
Audrey thought for a moment, "We had a nice conversation for a while, I found out she's blind, and walking around without a support dog. She did tell me her dogs name, Cooper I think."
Audrey's mother chuckled, "Alright, your father is stuck on the roof again, he knocked down the ladder trying to fix some shingles. I'll call you tomorrow, tell me if you see that Belle again!"
"Okay Mom, tell dad I said hi!"
"Good night, have fun with your gay thoughts!" Her mom said happily and hung up.
"Good God mom.." Audrey rolled her eyes and smiled.
