Perfect

Make sure you read to the end ... you'll understand why.

He watched as she danced with another, a smile plastered over her beautifully made up face and he couldn't hold the tears gathering in his eyes. She looked beautiful, the most perfect bride.

Her dress was wonderfully white, a lace top with long sleeves, flowing down into a large full circle dress. Adrien couldn't help the way his heart fluttered watching her as she spun around in circles, she looked so content and happy, and he couldn't keep his eyes from her, letting the gathered moisture release and trail down his face. She placed her lips to the males cheek, only to be pulled into a tight hug and his heart clenched. The perfect moment for her.

He'd fallen in love the second day he'd met her. Contrary to what people believed, it wasn't love at first sight. It was love that came from working so closely with someone and watching them grow and shine from that first day of insecurity to the fierce leader who stood up for good, and for what was right. He knew that second day he would follow her wherever she dragged him. She was the leader.

He looked around the room at many of their teammates as they also watched the dance currently taking place in the middle of the room. He could see the look of devotion in their eyes knowing that similar to himself they would follow her to the moon and back, and a sudden surge of pride shot through him. He'd helped her become their champion, they're Guardian.

When she was younger, she was so sweet and beautiful, he wished he'd figured it all out sooner. He wished he'd known he was the one she was waiting for, he wished he'd made that first move properly instead of getting into a tangle of webs, and of secrets which didn't need to be hidden. She was his perfect girl.

Not many people could say they'd fell in love as teens. Yes, some of his friends had ended up with their childhood sweetheart, their class more than others thanks to the power of the yin and yang, but what he'd felt, what he'd had was in fact true love. A love which was both painful and perfect. He knew he pushed his luck time and time again, leaving her to battle alone, allowing his selfish attitude to lead the way instead of standing back and looking at the bigger picture. They'd finally got past that rocky patch in their relationship and came out stronger than ever.

He'd remember when he'd sit at home and look at the pictures of them kissing, it seemed like a dream he would never remember and that hurt painfully. She owned his heart, his soul ... and there was no one else he could see this connection with. Another tear cascaded down his cheek. They had the perfect partnership.

His feet wanted to move out onto the dance floor and sweep her into his arms, but he knew he couldn't, this was their moment. A moment of true, pure love. He had no right to interrupt, but he just couldn't help but long to have her in his arms. He knew he would get his chance soon. She'd save at least one dance purely for him as she made her rounds around the room. There were a lot of people here, a lot of people to dance with. Dancing was kind of their thing though. They even had their own song, one where he could hold her tight to him. He remembered a couple of weeks after they'd revealed and finally grew a little more comfortable with each, they'd gone to the park so she could draw and he just lay beside her looking at the clouds and labelling them. Dog, cat, hockey stick, tree ... she'd placed her phone down and turned on Jagged Stones new album, pulling him to stand and dancing barefoot in the grass. It had quickly become his favourite song, only beaten by one other song ... their song. They'd ended up chasing each other around the park, only for him to trip and pin her underneath him. She whispered an apology, telling him she looked a mess. She didn't though. She looked perfect.

As they grew older, the relationship changed drastically. She became more powerful, he became stronger and together they fought villain after villain after villian. Travelling the globe and trying to keep the world safe. After Shadowmoth's defeat, other villains began to come out the woodwork, and, as a Guardian, she had to travel and train holders in different continents, those who held different Miraculous. But he wasn't going to let her go alone, after all he'd follow her wherever she went. He worked to provide for both of them so she could concentrate on training new holders, and figuring out the Miraculous and their counterparts. Many nights they'd sit and talk about the future, comparing what they wanted and laughing at their childish dreams from yonder years ago. They'd found out so much about each other, secrets became well known facts and both were forthcoming with their desires for a future - if they were ever able to separate from their duties and have one. The perfect life.

They were barely in their twenties when they arrived back in Paris, but a new threat to their home city cut their trip short. Home was important, and Ladybug and Chat Noir were needed. Home would always be their priority, it would always come first. Their time back in Paris was filled with reunions of old friendships and figuring out their lives. Which ended at this point right here.

He'd made decisions, she'd made decisions ... and now Miss Dupain-Cheng was all dressed up in white, the Miss becoming a Mrs all thanks to the delicate platinum band on her left ring finger.

He watched them spin around again and oh, his heart. He just couldn't stop it's change. He didn't expect to feel this way. He thought the emotions had passed in the church. That he'd gotten over it, but he couldn't stop and he didn't know if he ever would.

A permanent picture of her walking down the aisle would be forever embedded in his memories. Her face was full of love, the longing for a perfect future. She deserved so much, she deserved the world.

She looked so beautiful in her dress, the gasps from the congregation supporting his own assessment. She looked like an angel, though he was quite sure she was one reincarnated so that wasn't too far fetched. She looked perfect.

He watched her walk slowly, making sure she wasn't going to fall and faceplant the floor, and when he knew she'd got it covered he finally succumbed to his emotions. Squeezing his eyes shut he allowed his emotions to flow freely, not bothered by who was watching. Some would say it was a weakness, but to him, after so many years of holding his emotions in, it felt good to finally be free to display them however he wanted. Luckily, his best friend was beside him to hand him a tissue and place a supportive hand on his shoulder. God he needed it to get through this.

A shorter woman came and stood besides him, as he watched Marinette being twirled around in the middle of the dance floor again. She started to laugh before she was grabbed and lifted off the floor into the air, only to overcome the music with a sound of a scream. Adrien laughed, wiping fiercely under his eyes as Marinette attempted to kick her legs with the squeals of 'put me down' following.

Adrien looked down at the top of black hair, neatly styled in preparation for today's celebration. She slid her arm around his waist and rested her head into his side. With his growth spurts of past years, the older woman barely touched half way up his torso.

"It'll be your turn soon," she said as she handed him a tissue. He used it to wipe under his eyes again.

"She looks so perfect, I'm really struggling with keeping myself in check today." He turned around and looked down at the woman by his side, sniffling through his tears. She embraced him in a hug, and he wrapped his arms around her shoulders, using her as an anchor. "Thank you for everything." He whispered.

They remained in each other's embrace as the music died down and applause broke out. Neither noticed the two dancers making their way over to them.

"Hey kitty, what's wrong?" Marinette's soft voice pulled him to her like a siren. He turned his head just to catch the end of a kiss to her cheek from her dance partner. His heart pulled again and another, new, string of emotions hit him. Her smile dropped and she looked worried.

"You just look so perfect, M'Lady," he whispered through his tears, "I'm finding it hard to keep my emotions at bay."

They stood staring into each other's eyes, before she moved forward and wrapped her arms around his waist. Adrien bent down and placed a kiss on the top of her head, finally letting go and wiping the tissue under his eyes. Sabine moved forward and took it out of Adrien's hand and gave him a quick squeeze for good measure. Her husband made his way to her side and placed a hand on Adrien's shoulder, his own eyes filled with similar emotions. No words needed to be spoken, just a quick nod as Marinette led Adrien to the floor.

"I love you." Adrien whispered, wrapping his arms around Marinette's waist as she placed hers over his shoulders, pulling each other closer in a lovers embrace. They could never be too close. Never.

Before she could respond, an announcement came over the speakers.

"And now, for their first dance as husband and wife, please give it up for Mr and Mrs Agreste."

Cheers sounded around the room as their music started and they began to sway. Nothing fancy, just the way they'd done it a million times at parties, in the park, in their kitchen, in their bedroom ... It was perfect.

"I love you too, my kitty." Marinette pulled Adrien down placing a soft gentle kiss on his lips. A kiss filled with love and devotion, and just ... everything. Perfect.

As they pulled away, she winced a little and Adrien panicked.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

"Yeah, just when my papa picked me up I got a wedgie."

Adrien started to laugh, kissing her again on the lips. "Well, I suppose when we've finished this we can go and sort that out." He wiggled his eyebrows at her and her face turned pink. He loved how he could still make her blush.

"We'll see."

They both started to laugh before cuddling in closer.

It was perfect.

We are still kids, but we're so in love
Fighting against all odds
I know we'll be alright this time
Darling, just hold my hand
Be my girl, I'll be your man
I see my future in your eyes

Baby, I'm dancing in the dark, with you between my arms
Barefoot on the grass, listening to our favourite song
When I saw you in that dress, looking so beautiful
I don't deserve this, darling, you look perfect tonight
