Two excruciating weeks later, Storm made the difficult decision to tell Mush and Blink. She knew she could trust them, and that they would keep their mouths shut. That night she said, “Mush, come with me I have something to tell you and Blink, Blink, go get Spot and meet us on the roof. Don’t let anyone follow you.” She went up on the roof of the house, pulled out a long cigar, and lit up. Mush sat down and frowned at her. “C’mon, what are we doing up here?” She held up her hand. “Wait.” Blink arrived with Spot and they all sat down, passing around a bottle. Spot spoke up first, with a snarky smirk on his face, “Are you going to tell them, or do I have to?”

         She nodded and turned towards the boys slowly and began to speak, “The truth is, I have been lying to you this whole time that I have been here. Spot found out two weeks ago and said that if I don’t tell anybody, then he will do it for me.” She unbuttoned her shirt and showed them. After buttoning back up, she began to explain how her father had tried to rape her one month after the death of her brother, and how she had escaped. Race came up as she finished talking and saw them. With a confused expression her said, “What are you guys doing up here?” She glared at him and said, “Talking about things that you don’t get to know.” She got up and shoved past him to go inside. The other boys frowned, and he remained motionless, trying to figure out what had just happened. (S)he had never been mean to him before. They were so close. He mulled over this as her went to bed. She slept next to Mush that night, all of them up over what had just transpired.
