Rain

"If you don't mind me asking, Can I know the reason why are you doing  this whole thing?" He asked me with a little contempt in his voice.

I looked up at him, right into his eyes, they held a sense of judgement in them. At this moment I knew, he doesn't think much highly of me, well guess what? I don't care much about his opinion of me, because no one knows about what the hell I am going through. So, I don't give anyone the right to judge me in the first place when they know nothing about me.

I took a deep sigh before answering his question, " You know Mr. Sloan, in life there are times when you don't have many choices, sometimes  you  don't have the luxury to choose right over wrong, because if you do then everything will fall apart. You can't let your dignity or self-respect get in between before choosing, because you know inside your heart that, what you are choosing is wrong."

" You can't do anything about it, if you go for the right thing then you are gonna lose something precious to you along the way, something you hold very dear to yourself." I wiped the tear with my hand which I didn't realise had fallen until I felt it on my cheek.

" I am standing on this cross road right now, where I have to choose wrong even after knowing that I have to deal with the repercussions later on, but I don't have much choice right now, so I will be very grateful, if you don't judge me on the basis of my one wrong choice, not when you know nothing about me except my name."

He stood before me and cleared his throat, " Miss Cohen, I apologise to you if I have offended you by my question, it was not my intention."

"Yes it was, and yes you offended me but it's good that you know your mistake but I haven't forgive you yet."

"Anyways, I have to go somewhere urgent, so I will see you off to the door." I said and gestured him to walk to the door.

He walked towards the door as I followed him, when I was about to close the door, he stopped short and turned towards me.

" You know, before I came here I asked Gianna that why you? Instead of all other women who would prove to be a better choice for Miles than you." I frowned at him because I don't know where is he going with this conversation.

"She said I would understand myself once I will meet you and now I know that she could have never been more right."

" What is that supposed to mean? What did you understand?" I asked him confused.

" I will tell you when the time will be right." He said with a little smile which I find annoying because I don't know what the hell he meant by all this. He turned and left without any explanation, leaving me confused.

I reached the hospital, Dr. Silas was already there in his office. I took a deep breath to compose myself and knocked on his office door.

"Come in."

"Hello, Doctor."

He looked up and gave me a slight nod and said, " Hello, Ms. Cohen Please take a seat."

"Thank you." I said. "Um.. how is my Dad's condition?"

"I am afraid to say that there are very little chances that your Father is gonna wake up any soon and I am very sorry for that."

"Actually, the reports have come and we found that although we had stopped the internal bleeding but it led to clot formation inside his brain, and we are trying our best to dissolve it, but we don't know how long will it take."

"What do you mean by you don't know how long it's gonna take?"

"It means it might take a few months or may be a year or two, we can't say, most importantly it also depends on patient's will and determination."

After hearing him say that my Dad might not wake up for months or more than that, I felt like all the air left my lungs, the walls started to closed in on me, my surroundings started spinning.

" Ms. Cohen, are you alright? Look at me, look into my eyes, take a deep breath, in and out, in and out slowly." I did as he told me to and after some time  it became easy to breathe.

"I want you to know that we are trying our best. We want you to be strong in this situation, your father needs you the most right now."

I nodded at him and he gave me an understanding look, but it didn't ease my heart which was hurting from all the pain, but he is right I have to be strong for my Dad.

"Can I meet him?" I asked him anxiously.
