Chapter 3
After everyone had their little laughing spree, the crowd around us walked away, going back to what they were doing before. "You better watch your back new girl." Lisanna said.
Natsu's grip on my hand tightened as we watched her take her leave. Leaving her sister standing there seeming disappointed. She shook her head and stepped towards us. "I got her, Natsu." She said drawing our attention to her.
"Are you sure?" He asked seeming skeptical.
"Yeah, you guys just got back, you should take it easy for the rest of the day. Go get cleaned up and I'll have Kinana bring out some food for you guys."
They all reluctantly agreed and started to walk away. Feeling a bit uncomfortable, I squeezed Natsu's hand before he could walk off. He turned to me and gave me a small smile. "It'll be alright. Mira is going to help get you settled in and then you can come find us later, alright?"
I nodded and slowly released his hand letting him walk off with the others. Turning back the white haired girl in front of me I noticed that she was already looking at me with a sweet smile on her face. "Hi, I'm Mirajane, but you can call me Mira, and you are?" She asked.
"Lucy."
"It's nice to meet you Lucy. I'm sorry about my sister she can be a little much at times."
"No it's ok, it's not your fault." I replied. "But I have to ask, does she treat everybody like that?"
"I'm afraid so unfortunately. All except Natsu that is." She chuckled. "She has sort of a soft spot for him if you know what I mean."
"Oh, is there something going on between the two of them?"
"No, I mean don't get me wrong, she's had feelings for him since they were kids and she's been pretty open about it too."
"Does he know?"
"Yeah he knows, he doesn't care. He's said that he only sees her as a sister."
"Has he told her that? Because I don't think she's gotten the message if that's the case."
"Quite a few time actually. But that doesn't stop Lisanna. Enough about them, let's get you checked out." She said and started leaning me off to what I assumed was the infirmary. "So how long were you out there by yourself?"
"Uh... I don't really know, when did all this start?"
"About two years ago."
"TWO YEARS AGO?!" I shouted in shock. My heart started racing at the thought that I could've been alone for the past two years and I don't remember any of it. My mind started racing with all the questions I had. Where's my family? My friends? What happened to me? How long have I been in that building for and how long was I left alone for?
"-Cy, -ucy, LUCY?!" A voice snapped me out of my daze. Looking at my surroundings, I saw that I was still standing next to Mira, only now she had a look of concern on her face.
"Huh? What's happening?" I asked.
"Nothing, you just spaced out and I was trying to make sure you were okay." She said as she placed a hand on my shoulder, searching my face for any response she could get.
"I'm fine, I just have so many questions. I don't even know where to start either." I responded.
"Let's get you cleaned up."
TIMESKIP
After getting looked at, Mira brought me to the showers and gave me a change of clothes.
Once I turned it on, I felt the familiar warmth of the shower water hitting my skin. I don't know how long it's been since I've had a warm shower, but it felt like forever ago.
Mmm, that felt great. I thought to myself as I stepped out from the shower stall. I walked over to the change of clothes that Mira had given me and noticed that they were a little revealing (considering we are in the middle of an apocalypse). She'd given me a green button up ribbed crop top, a black pleated skirt and black military combat boots.
I got dressed and walked out the bathroom area. I heard laughter and yelling and followed it to a large room that looked like a restaurant.
Behind the bar area stood Mira she looked as if she was serving up drinks.
"Maybe she could use some help." I thought to myself. With that in mind, I made my way to the bar.
"Hey Mira, need any help?"
"Not really, but thank you for volunteering. Maybe you should go check on Natsu, say thank you to him and the others for bringing you here." She said cleaning a glass.
"Yeah, you're right! Where are they?"
"Levy, Erza, Juvia and Gray are over there. As for Natsu, I think he's outside on the balcony. Go talk to Natsu first though." She had started to smirk at the mention of Natsu's name. " Just go up those stairs and through the the metal door."
I nodded and started towards the balcony following her instruction. When I had gotten to the balcony, I saw Natsu there alone and leaning on the railing just staring out at in the distance.
"Hey." I called out making my presence known as I walked up next to him.
"Oh, hey Lucy." He looked at me then back in to the distance. His expression seemed somewhat sad.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
"Yeah, why do you ask?"
"Gee I don't know, maybe because you looked pretty depressed." I said sarcastically.
He looked down and chuckled then looked back to me. "Are you always this sarcastic?"
"I don't know. Maybe." I shrugged causing us both to laugh.
I nudged him, getting his attention again. "Seriously, are you ok? You looked kind of sad."
"Well I'm not, but thanks for checking on me." He smiled.
I don't know why I didn't notice this before, but he has a nice smile and he's pretty cute.
"Thanks for the compliment."
"Huh? What compliment?" I asked confused.
"You just said that I have a nice smile and that you think I'm cute." He said still smiling at me.
"Wait, I said that out loud?" I asked shocked that I had just said what I was thinking out in the open.
"Yeah, but don't worry about it. I think you're cute too."
What did he just say? And why is he saying it so calmly? I thought as I felt my checks starting to warm up.
"Well I just came out here to say thank you for saving me today. If you hadn't have saved me from those things, I would be dead right now so thank you."
"Your welcome." He said.
We stared into each other's eyes not saying a word. The only thing that could be heard was our the wind moving through the trees shaking the leaves. His gaze moving from my eyes to my lips and mine to his. His gaze moving between my lips then to my eyes and back. He started to lean in as did I. When we are close enough that I could feel his breathe on my face, I pulled back.
"It's been a pretty eventful day." I said looking out at the stars above us.
"Yeah, it has been." He chuckled.
"I think I'm just going to go get some sleep. Good night." I said walking away and out the balcony door, heading back inside.
"Night."
I walked over to Levy and the others thanking them as well for saving my life today. Then walked over to Mira letting her know that I was pretty tired and could use some rest. She showed me to a room with two bed inside.
"This is where you'll be sleeping. Everyone gets a roommate unless you're married or something. You'll be sharing with Juvia, she is a very sweet girl, but try not to upset her ok? It'll take some time to get use to things here, but you'll get the hang of it. Fresh clothes will be in those drawers next to your bed, we go out to collect supplies a couple times a week so if you see something you like out there, feel free to bring it back so you'll be more comfortable. And if you need anything feel free to ask her or me or whoever you want." She said.
"Thanks Mira."
"Your welcome, now just try to get some rest." She said as she left the room closing the door behind her. Mira was right though, it was going to take me some time to get used to things, but with how nice everyone seemed I wasn't too worried.
I laid down in my new bed and gotten comfortable under the covers. Today was one I won't forget. I almost died, I was rescued, met some wonderful people, put someone in her place, and almost kissed the guy that had saved me. I don't know what to say about any of it, but what I do know is that I'm going to have to do my best to survive from now on. And with that last thought, I drifted off to sleep.
