Chapter 3

╰┈➤ ❝ [subjected fate.]

Third Person POV

"Mother Nalia!"

"Yeah?" She turned her head to you as she was cooking in the kitchen.

"Where's father? He didn't sleep here last night." You asked.

"Ah well, I think he is dear, your father went out of town, the guards said the meeting he went was dangerous."

"Oh, I'm worried for him—!" Your words were cut off as you heard the familiar heavy footsteps and the opening of the mansion's main gate.

"I think that's him." Nalia said.

"Well, thanks mama, I'll go see father." You smiled softly as you walked out of the kitchen.

As you walked around the hallway for minutes, finding your father, only for you to see him at the large entrance door, his attire seemed like he just went somewhere important, with bodyguards around him, a bulletproof vest, and his limousine.

"Father? Where did you go?" You asked as you ran downstairs.

"Where's your nurse? Shouldn't you be staying in your room?" Your father named Enji said as he took off his sunglasses.

"I woke up early, I had to do something." You shrugged, your father then walked away with his bodyguards, but you followed him.

"Father! Did you know? I started practicing a lot today." You cheerfully said, telling him stories about your day as you followed him up to his office.

"Practicing what?" Your father sighed and rubbed his temples as he opened the sliding glass door to his office, and went inside as you followed.

"I practiced in your shooting range on the field, the servants gave me the key." You said, but your father paused as he looked at you.

"Well," You scratched the back of your head as you slowly took the rifle out of your bag. "Look what I practiced in the field a while ago!"

Your father's eyes widen his eyes, he quickly grabbed the bag that was filled with the equipment, and your body froze as he unexpectedly threw the bag away, kicking it with force.

"What did I say about you being like that?!" You can feel your father's furious gaze on you.

"Huh?" Your mouth was agape as you glanced at the bag.

"Didn't I say to act more woman-like?!" Your father shouted at your face. "Such a shame, your mother is dead and you still didn't grant her wish."

"Utterly disrespectful, your mother only wants one thing and that is you to have a husband and marry! But you're out there acting like a man, shooting guns and—"

"But isn't that what you're doing?!" You answered back. "You're even a leader in one of the largest gangs—"

"That's why I don't want you to be one of us, you know nothing about the outside world."

"But I don't want to get married..." You mumbled.

"You are."

"What...?"

"Look, I don't know where to start." Your father groaned and sat in the chair after removing his glasses and placing the documents and files on his desk.

"One of my gang's allies, a leader, is looking for someone to marry his son."

Your eyes widened, your pulse raced as you realized what was about to happen, and you grasped the hem of your shirt as wrath and nervousness loomed over you.

"So, you'll be marrying his son—"

"NO!"

"Y/n...! You have to."

"I said no!" You retorted back as you walked to his desk and slammed it.

"I object, there will be no marriage happening!"

"Y/n, daughter, I already signed an agreement, and you need to sign a contract as well, Mr. Goro and I already had a conversation about this yesterday, you have no choice," Enji sighed, his words were stern and strict.

"You have no choice but to succumb to your father's choices, your fate will be decided right here right now, and don't ever give me more tantrums, it will be for naught in the end, I assure you." Your father strictly said, almost like shouting.

"It may also be a chance to find a proper cure and medical support for your sickness."

"Oh c'mon, don't include my can— sickness now!" You retorted angrily, how dare he mention that.

"Father... I can't believe it, you really used and bet your own daughter to other gangs just for your own benefit." You said in a trembling pained voice, you shook your head as tears welled in your eyes and you can't believe what your father just said.

"What if mother is here, still alive? What do you think will be her reaction, huh?!" You shouted, pointing at her portrait.

"Father, I respect you, but I don't think I can look at you the same way I did when I was 6 years old."

And with that, you grabbed your bag that was thrown across the room and went out of your father's office, slamming the door with a loud thud.

Inside the room, your father couldn't do anything but shake his head and rub his temples, leaving a heavy sigh.

A part of his daughter's words was true.

It actually pains him that he has to do such absurd things for both financial benefit and the sake of securing your future, at least that's what your father believed.

Enji looked at the portrait of his wife, your mother.

"Oh, my dear, if only you were alive..."

As you ran out of the office, you didn't notice Nalia standing outside.

She gave you an empathic look, her heart chest felt heavy after hearing your conversation with your father.

"Y/n—!" She tried to call you, but you were no longer seen.

You ran inside your room and shut the door, you slumped on your bed as you dug your face into the pillows.

Stream of tears was flowing as your heart just felt heavy just as seconds passes by, like tugging your heartstrings.

You didn't want to marry the leader's son, or whoever he was, you just don't want to marry anyone in general.

Y/n believed that marrying will just get in the way of her dreams, and it will crush her dreams.

That's what she's scared of.

She is constantly told to behave more like a lady, which may sound cliché, but her situation prevents her from doing so. She is always told to play like a woman, but how can a woman act more womanly without a mother in her life?

When in all of her life, she had no mother and was raised by her father and a group of businessmen, with only one woman which is her most trusted nurse who was there for her since she was a child.

It was all suffocating, the pressure, the so-called image of a noblewoman, the forceful alteration of her fate, affecting her dreams for which she had worked for years, which is now all ruined by a single contract and marriage

As your tears started to subside, you felt the familiar pain in your head.

You reached for your phone on the side table to call your nurse Nalia, but the pain in your brain intensified, and soon enough, you fell and found yourself laying on the floor, gripping your forehead and stomach.

"When will my sickness for years go away...?"

You thought, but as soon as you were about to lose consciousness from the unbearable pain, you once more mumbled something.

"I don't want to get married."
