It's Saturday and I am here with the EPILOGUE of this story. Apologies for the delay in posting but I was caught up with my work.🙏🙏🙏

The chirping of the birds along with the first rays of sun hitting her face broke Sonakshi's slumber. Opening her groggy eyes, she looked to her left only to find the love of her life sleeping like a baby besides her, his ruffled hairs falling over his eyes as his left hand was on her stomach while there was a small smile on his lips as her lips curved in a smile as well, she slowly moved his hand careful enough to not break his sleep, slowly getting up she leaned her back against the wall and stretched her hands lazily. She turned her head to look at him once again just as she heard a knock on the door of their room, she quickly leant forward and pecked his lips before he got up, a routine she followed every day after their marriage but what she did not see was the smile that played on his lips as she left, it was a routine which he followed as well, it was an act of sleep which he would put on everyday just to feel her love for him.

As soon as Sonakshi opened the door someone jumped on her, holding around her neck with her tiny hands "Happy anni...annivelsaly Mumma" said a girl 3 and half year old in her babyish tone as Sonakshi kissed the little girl's cheek. It was their daughter Suhana who was born nearly two and half years after their marriage. Yes, six years ago on the same day Dev and Sonakshi had married. The girl quickly got down from her mother's hold as she ran towards the bed to wake her father up. A routine which she followed ever since she had started walking.

"Happy anniversary Bhabhi" said Riya and Nikki as they hugged Sonakshi, they had come along with their niece to wake up their Bhaiya and Bhabhi. It was a day of celebration at the Dixit house. Meanwhile Suhana had gotten up on the bed and sat on her father's chest "Papa...Papa..." she tried to wake him up but Dev acted to be asleep as the little girl spoke again "Papa...rise and shine..." she said again as Dev got hold of her and pinned her to the bed and started tickling her as she broke into uncontrollable giggles while Dev joined her in the laughter. "Papa...papa...stop...please stop..." she huffed in laughter as Dev stopped while the little girl spoke again "Happy anni...annivelsaly Papa" she said as Dev kissed her cheeks "Thank you my princess" he said as took her in her arms and got up from the bed as his sisters greeted him and wished him on their anniversary. Last night they had taken away Suhana along with them to their room after cutting the cake at midnight so that Dev and Sonakshi could spend some alone time together.

"Papa...We have to go for a walk" said Suhana as Dev quickly went to the washroom to freshen up while the three ladies played with the little girl. 10 minutes later Dev came out and along with Suhana went for their daily morning walk while his sisters left as well for the preparations of the party in the evening. Sonakshi meanwhile went to get ready as she along with Dev and Suhana would go to the temple followed by the Orphanage, a tradition they followed on each of their special occasion.

Half-an-hour later Sonakshi came out of the washroom after her bathe, as she made her way towards the dressing table her eyes fell on the pictures that hung on the walls in their room. The first picture was that of the Mala Bodol (Garland- Exchange) ceremony as her thoughts went back to the day of their wedding....

Both Sonakshi and Dev were stunned to look at each other as she lowered the betel leaves completely, their dream was coming true. Both seemed to be in a trance which was broken by the priest who asked them to exchange the garlands which was to be done three times, the very next moment Dev was hoisted high by his family members so that Sonakshi could not put the garland as Sonakshi's uncle lifted her as well. After some struggle both were able to exchange the garlands as everyone proceeded towards the mandap for the marriage ceremony.

Sonakshi's eyes fell on the next picture beside it, it was a photo of the Sil-Noda (Sil-Batta or Stone grinder) ceremony. She was standing with Dev holding her from behind as her thoughts went back once again to the ceremony which they had performed on their wedding day....

A Traditional Sil-Noda (Sil-Batta or Stone- Grinder)

After a few of the marriage rituals, Dev and Sonakshi were asked to stand up and move to an open place where a Sil-Noda was placed, both wondered what they had to do as the priest asked Dev to move behind Sonakshi and hold her from behind which he did. The priest then asked both to move the Sil-Noda over a certain distance using their legs but asked them to make sure that the arrangement of the Sil-Noda is never separated from each other as they moved it. They did as said, while the Dixit family wondered what this ceremony represented. Dev and Sonakshi moved the Sil-Noda with great difficulty as they had to make sure it never separated from each other, there were a few instances when they could move the arrangement easily and then a few instances where they faced difficulty in moving it. After what seemed like an eternity they were able to move the arrangement over the distance as asked by the priest while everyone applauded.

The priest then explained the significance of this ritual, the Sil-Noda represented Dev and Sonakshi and the distance that Dev and Sonakshi covered with it represented their journey of life. He went on to explain that like the journey of the Sil-Noda which was easy at some points while difficult at other instances even their journey through their married life would be the same, it would be easy at some points while difficult at some other instances but what was important is that just like the Sil-Noda were never separated from each other through the journey and faced the difficulties together even in their life if they are together through thick and thin then they can face every hurdle in their married life. It was a simple ceremony but the message it conveyed had made a deep impact in their minds, the message which they followed till date in their lives.

As Sonakshi remembered the ceremony a smile made way on her lips, she looked around to see various pictures of their marriage ceremony, the Kanyadaan ceremony where Bijoy and Asha handed her over to Dev as tears formed in her eyes, her thoughts then went to the Bidaai ceremony where she had a tearful exit from her maternal home but then she remembered the squeeze of Dev's hand on hers to reassure her that he was there with her, the Bashor raat (the night of the marriage of the wedding when all the youngsters celebrate the wedding with the newlyweds, singing and dancing through the night), the Boubhaat (the first cook of the woman in her new home for her new family), the Bhaatkapod (the ceremony where Dev gifts Sonakshi clothes & food taking responsibility for her well-being through their life, Dev's sad face when he was informed about the Kaalratri (the next night after wedding where the Bride and groom are not allowed to stay in one room) and then the Phool-shoja (their first night together after marriage). She remembered how nervous both were but then Dev eased her nerves, they talked about various things when they both confessed about their dream making them believe that they were bonded by destiny, he told her to take her time to adjust with him but the next moment she hugged him with all his might which broke the last barrier between them as they engaged in a night of passionate love.

A blush formed on Sonakshi's as she remembered the night, her eyes then fell on the Sindoor-daan (the ceremony where the groom fills the partition between the hair of the bride with vermillion), the moment Dev filled her maang with sindoor amidst the sounds of the conch shells and ululation, the moment she felt completed as tears escaped her eyes. Suddenly she felt someone's hands wounding around her neck as she looked up in the mirror to find Dev looking at her with a smile on his face as he asked, "What were you thinking about love?" he asked as Sonakshi got up and turned around wounding her arms around his neck as she spoke "Was thinking about you" she said as his smile widened while she continued "About our life in these six years after marriage" she said as Dev asked "So what do you feel about it?" as she replied "That I am luckiest girl in the world to have you in my life" as Dev bent forward and smashed his lips with hers as they engaged in a mind-numbing kiss, "You make me feel alive Sonakshi" spoke Dev as they broke the kiss and joined their foreheads.

"Where's Suhana?" she asked not finding their daughter as Dev replied "She's with Maa, she is getting her ready" he said as Sonakshi nodded her head in acknowledgement while Dev took a pinch of vermilion from the box and filled it in the parting between her hair as she closed her eyes feeling his love for her. He quickly pecked her forehead and quickly left for getting ready as Sonakshi quickly got ready as well. After getting ready she went down to see their daughter jumping up and down on the sofa as Ishwari braided her hair.

"Good Morning Maa" said Sonakshi as Ishwari replied "Good morning Beta and happy anniversary" she said as Sonakshi touched her feet while Ishwari blessed her. Sonakshi asked Ishwari to go ahead with her work as she got Suhana ready. As Sonakshi braided her daughter's hair her thoughts went back to the day when she had announced her pregnancy to Dev, it was sight she could never forget. It was nearly a year and half after their marriage when she got pregnant with their child, the next nine months were filled with bliss for her. Sonakshi had continued her work as an Air-hostess after their marriage, there was splash in the newspaper about the most eligible bachelor in the city getting married to an Air-hostess in his company but with everyone in their family around them they got through that period. Once their daughter was born she had become their life, she did not want to miss out on her childhood and hence had decided to quit her job and work along with Ishwari for their NGO along with training the new staff at their Airlines. Sonakshi was brought out of her thoughts by Dev's voice "Let's go" he said as he descended the steps. After a few moments after bidding everyone the trio of Dev, Sonakshi and Suhana left for the temple.

It was an evening of celebration at Dixit house as the Bose family along with Ranveer and Neha had arrived. After a few moments Avni walked in along with Jatin, they had an appointment with the doctor and hence had arrived a little late "Oh, here comes the would mother and father" said Riya as she went and hugged Avni. Three years after Dev and Sonakshi's marriage Jatin and Avni got married in a simple ceremony with family and friends at ZINDAGI, Jatin had settled into his business when he had proposed her for marriage. And today after 3 years of their marriage Avni was pregnant with their child, they had gone for the first sonography today.

"So Jatin how was the experience of seeing you child" asked Rajeev as Jatin replied "It was unbelievable uncle, words cannot explain that feeling" he said as Rajeev smiled, their relationship had come a long way since Avni's marriage with Jatin.

After a few moments Dev and Sonakshi walked down with Suhana nestled in Dev's arms, they first took the blessings of the elders following which the others congratulated them on their anniversary, after that they cut the cake as they first fed each other followed by Suhana and the others. Dev pulled out a box from his pocked and opening it he took out a couple of Platinum infinity rings which had their names embossed on it. He put the ring on Sonakshi's finger followed by Sonakshi making him wear the ring as tears formed in her eyes.

"Now, where's my gift Ms. Bose?" asked Dev as everyone chuckled while Sonakshi took his hand and put it on her stomach as she spoke "Get ready to live this journey once again Mr. Dixit" she said as tears formed in her eyes while Dev's eyes widened in shock and surprise as it dawned to him what Sonakshi was alluding to, he was going to be a father again. The next moment Dev scooped Sonakshi in his arms and twirled her around in joy and glee. Once Dev put her down everyone congratulated the couple and then took numerous family pictures. Once everything settled down everyone settled down for their dinner as the rest of the evening was spent in fun and frolic. After a couple of hours, they called it a night.

Dev was sitting on the sofa near the window with Suhana in his lap showing her the stars as Sonakshi came and sat beside the father-daughter duo, after a few moments she Suhana slept in Dev's lap as Sonakshi kept her head on his shoulder slowly drifting into the land of nod as Dev kept a hand on her stomach and looked at his family. Life could not have been more blissful as he looked at his family, the stars in the sky witness to their love.

LOVE WAS DEFINITELY IN THE AIR...

How was it? This finally brings an end to my first ever story/Fan-fiction which was completely different from the original story line of KRPKAB and also this will be my last story inspired by KRPKAB characters. I know it is a cliche ending and you must have read similar endings before but this was best i could think off for winding this story. Hope you liked it🙂🙂🙂.
