Chapter one

Sasha parked her car in front of the hotel, she took a deep breath before getting out of the car, the valet took the keys from her and she told him about her luggage in the trunk which he helped her brought out. She walked into the hotel and approached the receptionist "I have a room."

"What name ma'am" the pretty blonde asked her with a pretty smile.

"Sasha White."

The blonde went through her computer before looking up to her with a smile "that will be room 1001, fifth floor."

Sasha nodded and she gave her the room card "would you like someone to show it you?" The girl asked.

"No thanks. I can mange, just tell the bellhop my room number for my bags."

"Sure ma'am, I will do just that."

Sasha walked into the elevator, just as she reached to press the fifth floor, someone used his hand to hold the doors, he peeked in and smiled at her before stepping inside. Sasha retuned his smile faintly, and leaned on the wall with her eyes closed after seeing him pressed the fifth floor.

The man kept glancing at her and she so badly wanted to ask what his business was, but she was just so not in the mood. The elevator ding sound was heard and she was out the door before it was fully opened, she walked straight searching for room 1001 and she found it without looking hard, she swiped her card and got in, slamming the door shut without a second look to the man, who clearly, wanted to speak to her.

Sasha made her way to the bedroom and slumped on the bed, she heaved a big sigh and couldn't believe she did it, how can she have walked out on Michael? She has been in love with him for fourteen years and finally she got to be with him and walked out? How could she have done that?

There was a knock on her door, disrupting her from her thoughts, she got up and walked to the living room, she opened the door to see the bellhop standing there "your bags ma'am" he smiled. Sasha nodded and walked back inside, she got her handbag and fetched out some dollar bills which she gave to him. He took it smiling sheepishly before walking away.

Sasha dragged her bags inside and went back to the room, she fell on the bed again to continue her thoughts but she found out it was weighing her down. She searched her bag for her phone and remembering she shoved it into her pant pocket, she fetched it out and searched her contact for a number and dialed, the person picked on second ring "hey Janey, what do you guys think about a night out? My treat."

A shrilling scream was heard from the other side and she removed the phone from her ear for a while before placing it back "I will tell the girls immediately and will also call my nanny and tell her to please stay over. Damn, I can't wait."

"I will meet you girls at the club" Sasha said and Janet okayed before hanging up. Sasha stared at her phone and heaved a deep sigh, well, it's not as hard as she thought it will be, maybe she really isn't that in love with Michael since she is not bathing herself in tears already.

She fell back on the bed and closed her eyes, not letting herself think of anything, she tried to keep her mind clear as the minutes ticked by.

Sasha was awoken by her phone's ringtone, she picked it up sleepily "hello?" She yawned.

"You got to be kidding me!" She heard and her eyes were cleared from sleep immediately "you are sleeping?"

"Sorry Janey, where are you guys? I will be there in ten, send me the address."

"Great, cause we are already waiting" Janet said on the other side "I will text you the address now."

Sasha hung up and stood up from the bed, she yawned again, when was the last time she slept so soundly? She can't even remember. She checked her phone for possible missed calls or texts from a particular person but she saw none and her good spirit slumped immediately. It's been nearly seven hours and he didn't call to know where she is or if she was fine? She felt her eyes brimming with tears and she shook her head "no, no time for crying. If he doesn't want you then you don't want him" she comforted herself.

She went into the living room and dragged her bag to the bedroom, she rummaged in it and found a nice short white gown, this looks good, maybe she can even catch the attention of someone "hush Sasha you are a married woman" she paused "or am I?" She sighed and rushed into the bathroom for a quick shower. Coming out, she dressed in the white gown, she always look perfect in anything white, that's why its her favourite color, for a second she drifted into an impossible happy thoughts.

Michaels was standing in the bedroom, holding up a white long gown, smiling lovingly to her, she sighed and shook the thought away, like she said, an impossible happy thoughts, she doubts if he even knows white is her favourite color. After all, what does she know about him? Absolutely nothing, that's because they had never sat and talked about each other, so how can he know about her favourite color?

She heaved a deep sigh and applied mascara on her lashes, she applied a red lipstick on her lips, she looked at herself in the mirror, she has always been the type who is sure of her beauty but now, she can't even tell anymore since she couldn't even charm her husband after one year of living with him. She picked up her purse and phone, and left the room. Walking to the elevator, a room door opened but she didn't even bother to know which and just pressed on the elevator.

"We meet again" she heard behind her but she kept her face straight "I'm Craig, you?" She turned to look at the man now standing beside her, she offered a faint smile and he shrugged "you must not be the type to talk too much but I must compliment, you look hot in that gown. Very beautiful" he smiled.

Very beautiful, Sasha repeated in her mind, those are two words she has not heard from a man for a long time now, is she really? Then how come her husband has never told her that? She looked away thinking on it and Craig took the time to observe her "penny for your thought?" He asked softly with a charming smile, his light green eyes burning into hers.

Sasha looked at him and smiled "I wish" she looked away again, the elevator arrived and she stepped in followed by Craig.

"You know you should talk more often, you have a nice voice."

Sasha let out a breath, for nearly a year she had not heard any compliment and now she can't count how many she had received in one night "thank you" she breathed.

"You are most welcome" Craig smiled. The elevator ding sound was heard and they both stepped out "so what is it going to cost me to know your name?"

Sasha paused and looked at him "I'm sorry Craig, I know you mean well but I'm married" she smiled and walked to the underground parking lot, searching for her car.

Craig looked at her back as she walked away "he is one damn lucky devil" he muttered to himself before walking his own way.

Sasha cursed herself in her car, married? Is she? Just when will she stop thinking herself like that? but you are, a voice said in her head, yes she is. After all, she just left her husband's home today and is hanging out with her friends to prevent herself from breaking down. She started the car and focused her destination towards the address Janet texted her.

Arriving, the valet approached her and took her key from her. Sasha walked into the bar and her gaze searched the whole room full of dancing people, she spotted Agatha on the dance floor with Agnes and made her way towards them, they smiled when they saw her and Agatha started dancing towards her, Sasha shook her head when she saw her intention "where is Janet and Marilyn?" She asked with her voice high over the blasting music.

Agatha pointed at a booth not too far away from the dancefloor, Sasha's gaze followed her hand and saw Janet and Marilyn sitting on the sofa and drinking, she nodded to Agatha and made her way to Janet.

"Hey pretty, wanna dance?" A shirtless guy with body covered in tattoos that you will find it hard to tell he was shirtless, smirked her way. She shook her head gently and passed him.

"Finally, I was beginning to think you just called us out here for nothing" Janet chided her.

"I'm sorry" she apologized "hey Marilyn."

"Long time no see girl" Marilyn smiled, she looked a bit tipsy.

"Hey, this one you are out this night, hope Mr high and mighty won't come to get you again without our consent?" Janet asked.

Sasha merely smiled "can we go somewhere quieter? I mean, maybe a private room?"

"Sure" Janet asked and signaled to the dancing Agatha and Agnes who walked to them then "I heard the rooms here has karaoke, so who is up for that?"

"Count me in. It's been a long time we did that" Agnes agreed and the rest nodded. They walked up the stairs then and Sasha booked a private room, a boy approached them smiling, he was dressed in nothing but an underwear.

"You ladies want some guys to warm up your evening?" He asked smiling seductively.

"Oh, hell yea" Agatha readily agreed.

"No thank you, we are all married" Janet smiled and they walked passed him into their room.

The room service was okay, they was already two bottles of champagne waiting for them in the room. A waiter brought in some glasses and then left. Agnes opened the drink and served everybody, they were all happy singing along with the music playing.

Sasha sat on a corner, her drink in her hand but she was lost in thoughts, she remembered the day her mother in law...ahem, ex mother in law was talking to her about divorcing her son and how comfortably she had told her she can still hold on and now look at her. But it's been like ten months ago or even eleven that that happened, she persevered for eleven months and would have still do if only he had told her to stay. Truth be told, if Michael had asked her to stay, she would have, if he had texted her to come back after she left, she would have, if he had called and say sorry, just sorry, she would have stayed. She had vowed to make her marriage work but he just don't care, he just love that mysterious girl so much.

What will happen if he should love her like that? She would be in cloud nine if only she could get an atom of his love, let to talk of when he loves her whole heartily, she would just travel to the moon. While lost in her thoughts, she just kept downing her drink and pouring another as she was drowning in her sorrow. Her friends were so busy taking turns in singing that they didn't notice she had already finished the two bottles of champagne.

Sasha felt lightheaded and oozing in alcohol, she decided to just sit on her side and listen to them sing, maybe she can stop thinking for a while "it's Sasha's turn now" she heard and opened her eyes to see her friends all looking at her expectantly, one second she wanted to refuse but then why not? She smiled and stood up, she staggered to the CD library and selected her music, she staggered back to her seat and took the microphone from Marilyn just as Celine Dion water from the moon began to play.

Her friends looked at her surprised at her choice of music but she only smiled and brought the microphone to her lips and sang along.

"I've looked everywhere I can

Just to find a clue

Oh to get to you

And make you want me

And I've run circles around the sun

Chasin' after you

Oh but it's no use

Can't you see that I'm going out of my mind

Trying to find a way to get through to you

Oh you don't know how hard I try

And I try and I try

What do I gotta do?

Do I gotta get water from the moon?

Is that what I gotta do

To make you love me, make you love me?

Do I gotta turn the sand into the sea?

Is that what you want from me?

I've done everything that I can do

But get water from the moon..."

Her voice was melodious but it was filled with sorrow and sadness. A tear slipped from her closed eyes and watching her so immerse in the song brought tears to her friend's eyes.

"Love me, how do I make you love me?

How do I make you see that I'm going out of my mind

I try, and I try, and I try

Do I gotta get water from the moon?

Baby is that what I gotta do

To make you love me, make you love me?

Do I gotta turn the sand into the sea

Is that what you want from me

I've done everything that I can do

But get water from the, water from the moon

Baby, love me baby, love me, yeah

I've done everything

You've got to love me baby

I've done everything, oh..."

The music slowly died off and everywhere was silent, Sasha, finally has broken down, even though she didn't want to and certainty not in the presence of her friends but one can't just control their emotion. She sniffed and looked at them with her teary eyes, she smiled faintly "I'm...I'm sorry...about that."

They walked closer to her then, Janet and Marilyn sitting at both of her sides, Agatha looming over and Agnes at her feet "you can always talk to us."

Sasha sniffed "nothing was like I made it to be" she looked at each of their faces "Michael and I aren't happily married."

"What?" The ladies were shocked.

Sasha nodded and sniffed "our wedding night, wasn't like I told you. I made it up" she heaved a sigh "Michael didn't touch me that night, rather he gave me three rules."

"Rules? On your wedding night?" Agatha asked bewildered, well not just her.

Sasha gave a bitter low chuckle "don't talk to me, don't touch me, stay out of my business" she recited the rules as if it was some priceless treasure.

"What in the world!" All her friends shouted at once "you..you...you..." None of them could finish their sentences.

"Everything was just a false, he protects me outside but once inside" she shook her head bitterly "we are complete strangers."

"But why would Michael do that?" Agnes found her voice and asked.

"I don't know. But one day I was speaking with his mom. He had traveled out of the country without telling me and his mom had somehow found out" she looked at them "that day she picked me up from the office" they all nodded, remembering how envious they had been of her that day "though before that day, something had happened. He had came home one night drugged, I don't know by who but that night, we were together, the drug took effect on him and he approached me. I didn't push him away, I willingly let him" she sighed "He woke up the next day and was so angry..." She broke off.

"Hey" Janet stroked her back "there, is alright."

"Since then he stopped talking to me at all, so he had traveled and his mom invited me to spend the afternoon with her. That day, she told me that there is a girl he was so madly in love with, even though it's been years, that he still loves her."

"Damn!" Exclaimed Agatha.

"I don't know, maybe it's because of the night, maybe because he has been keeping himself for her and I took it away, I just can't tell but ever since that day, Michael never talked to me again. It went on like that till he had an accident. Although he spoked to me the night he woke up but it was just to ask me what happened to his legs and the next I know, he walked me out. When I offered to take care of him the day he was discharged, he insisted for a nurse. Although his mother told me that day we went out for lunch that I'm free to divorce him but I told her I can do it. I thought I could" she started sobbing again.

"There, there, it's okay. It's okay, you have us."

Sasha nodded and sniffed "for past three months now, I have been depressed, Michael doesn't let me help him. He insisted his nurse to live in but his mother and mine refused, saying that I will help during the night but he never let's me. Whenever I offered to stay at home he will refused, saying that his nurse can take perfectly care of him. At night, he will set his alarm and will help himself to take his medicine before I can even come" she looked at them "we sleep in different rooms and that's because he threw me out of our room one night" she smiled weakly.

"I will cook, he will not eat it. He gets Gary deliver food for him, he had this table constructed to be by his bedside, he keeps anything he needs there and some that he can't get to, he has Gary provide them before leaving. He just doesn't want me to help, everyday before leaving for work, I watch as he interacts with Belinda, so gentle and always wear a warm smile, a side of him that I have never notice, that he has never showed me. Today" she sniffed "Belinda called that she would be late. I went into his room to stay with him or more like talk to him because I was getting emotional, too emotional."

Janet gently strokes her back to get her to keep talking "I thought if we talk that maybe he will see the injustice in the way he has been treating me but he just don't care. I tried to ask what I did wrong but he didn't even answer, I got fed up and meanwhile I have been nursing the idea of leaving and it just overwhelmed me today, I suggested we separate for us to cool ourselves and decide whether we still want to keep the marriage. I thought that will get him to talk, or maybe ask me to stay but I packed my bags and left and he didn't try to stop me neither did he call me. I was already in a hotel when I called you" she looked at Janet "I'm sorry for not telling you girls sooner but is just that, when you talk of your own marriages, it's all filled with bliss and happiness but mine?" She broke into tears again.

"You shouldn't have kept this all to yourself Sasha. We are friends, we share each other's good times and bad times. When Patrick started misbehaving, I brought it to you girls and we sorted it out together, why did you have to keep yours to yourself?" Janet asked to her.

Agnes rubbed Sasha's knees and looked at her "if we had known it was like this, they are a lot of requests we wouldn't have made rather than put you in a difficult state, don't you think?"

"To hell with that Michael, and I thought he was handsome" Agatha pouted "he is just a fool for not knowing what he have, all for a mysterious girl. Why isn't he with her anyway?"

"Maybe she rejected him, who would accept a guy as heartless as him? Since he has the mind to treat our friend like this just because of her, I hope they both rot in hell" Marilyn cursed.

"Hey, it's okay. If I had known it was like this, I wouldn't have let you stay in that marriage for a year. My God, how were you able to survive? I mean I wouldn't" Janet said and Sasha smiled to her.

"I guess maybe it's because I love him?" She smiled as her friends had their mouths wide open in shock.

"Since when?"

"Well, Michael and I went to the same highschool. I have been in love with him since then but I didn't go after him because there was a rumor then that he is gay, a lot of girls not just me backed off then and mine wasn't even possible from the beginning since he was my senior. I just dream about him from afar while I try my best to greet him whenever I can which he always responds to warmly then, getting a lot of girls envious of me because he doesn't talk to any girl and hardly responds to greetings, except mine" she chuckled lightly "it had made me feel special then that I'm the only girl he acknowledges."

"If it was like that, then what went wrong when you eventually marry?" Asked Agatha.

Sasha shook her head "I don't know. I have thought about it and decided maybe it's because I'm not the one he wished to marry" she shrugged.

"But that's still bad of him, if he knew he doesn't want to marry you why did he agree in the first place?" Asked Marilyn.

Agnes's nodded "I have been thinking the same thing."

Janet sighed "well, to hell with him. He has already lose his chance of being with our Sasha. He should keep on loving his mysterious girl till he grows old and he would die a lonely man, rubbish."

Sasha smiled, she was actually feeling a little better inside that she spoke to her friends about her predicament and they are helping her curse Michael, since she couldn't herself.

They spent the rest of the evening chatting about some fun stuff to liven Sasha up and they tried as much as possible to not mention their husbands and also Michael. They all went to Sasha's hotel room with her, Janet who was a bit better and sober than the rest drove the car. They got into her room and crashed in the bed without doing as much as changing their clothes.
