The rustling of the leaves tempt me to just fall asleep on the counter in front of me but smell of coffee just keeps me awake.

"Winter's gon' be rough eh, Val?" O'l Oliver, a regular (a generous one, if I may add), spoke in his nasal monotone voice

"Nah, it can never top last year."
I said, tucking my raven black hair behind my ear

"Yeah, last year was just wrong, my front porch just gave up! I had to do it myself, I ain't trusting no money stealing repair men." I giggled, shivering a bit despite the heater running on max.

"You do know it's still a bit lopsided, right?" I stretched my face into a 'Haha, You failed' look

He glared at me "Yes, I know."
giving me a 'Fuck you' face.

"Hey Ollie, Did you hear about the new kid around Main Street?
His family got those new Ford trucks with the hood thingy you like. I saw it while walking here, it looks exactly like the ones you were looking to buy a few weeks back." I said checking the door to see if it was closed.

Sure enough, It wasn't.
Getting up, I walked around the counter, never leaving eye contact with Oliver's​ gray eyes.

"Nah, I ain't need it no more.
I got me something better.
A little Husky, to keep me company." He said, digging into the pocket of his faded jeans, taking out his phone. He tapped it a few times while I stood next to the door.

"Here," he said, showing me a picture of a cute little grey husky next to Ollie and his kid, Max.
Ollie has this ageless face despite being in his late 30s and his son looking almost like him except Ollie's hair is black but Max's is dirty blonde, making them look more like brothers than father and son.

"He's cute," I smiled at him, signaling my head at the picture of his cute husky
"I didn't know you were a pedophile," He snickered lightly

I gasp, whipping my hair exaggerated like while glaring playfully at him. "How dare yo-"

The ding of the bell above the door distracted me, so I quickly snapped my head towards the door only to be hit square in the face, making me stumble and close my eyes in pain.

Next thing I knew an arm wrapped around my waist as I snapped my eyes open in surprise.

"Miss, are you alright?" A deep voice with a hint of a british accent asked me as I close my eyes to stop the blurring.

"Hey, watch it. I ain't no precious porcelain doll but for fucks sake man, watch where you're goin-"
I trailed off as I opened my eyes, greeted by a set of ocean green ones.

"Uh." My mind went completely blank as I stared directly into the orbs, reminding me of my days by the beach, making me wander into another world

...

"Like what you see, Miss?" He said, snapping me out of my daze like a drowning man being pulled out of the water as quick as could be, smirking at me mockingly as I felt my cheeks heat up in embarrassment.

"Sorry, I..." Duh, how I english? durr, what me say? Talk, Valerie, Talk!!

"I think she got amnesia or is she normally like this?" the man said, looking at Oliver.

"Nope, She's always like that. She's plain stupid." Ollie said, smirking at me too.

"Hey!! I can beat your fuckin ass any day, bitch!" I shouted at him, not caring for the stranger still holding me by my waist.

"Good. Now I know you're okay."
He said smiling like the gigantic doofus he is.

"Can I let go now?" The stranger asked me, trying not to make eye contact.

"What if I don't want to?" I laughed loud while clutching my stomach as he let go without a care

"Ow! You can treat a lady right eh? I bet you're SUCH a gentleman." I said, my voice dripping in sarcasm.

He laughed, and smiled after
and I think.....my heart just skipped a beat.... Wow.
