PHIL

Phil leaves class, his thoughts taken over by what Dan wanted to tell him. All the possibilities just were running in his head, even in the classroom.

I wonder what it is?

"Philip!"

Phil's thoughts were interrupted by the screeching sound of his Maths teacher's voice.

"As you are paying very much attention," Ms. Johnson barked while marching around the room. "You should answer this next question."

All eyes turned to Phil, as he started sweating.

Part of him just wanted to say:

All Phil really did was look down and fiddled with his fingers.

"Nothing to say?" Ms. Jerkson- I mean Johnson snapped.

"No..." Phil replied quickly and quietly.

"What?"

"NO!" Phil boomed. "I said NO, are you deaf?!"

"Philip Lester!" The teacher exclaimed. "I did not expect this behaviour from you! Lunch Hour detention!"

Oh, Phil... What have you done? You knew that Dan would tell the secret, yet Dan's secret is what's going to make it have to wait to hear it. At lunch hour too!

Crap. None of my friends are in this class, so they won't know. Ugh. I hope Dan will understand...

DAN

Dan waited with his head down for Louise, the girl that is assigned to help Dan around the school. Funny enough, they're both very close friends, so that helps a bit.

"Hey, Dan!" a kind voice greeted. Usually, since he can't see, all of his other scenes are hypersensitive, including his hearing. He must have been so caught up in his thoughts.

"Hi Louise." Dan replied.

"Ready for the next class?" She asked, putting her hand on his shoulder.

"Yea, let's go," Dan moaned. This is boring. All Dan wanted to do is just spill, but all he said was:

"I have a thing I wanted to tell you guys.." He said. Louise giggled.

"I know!" She chuckled. "Phil has been texting us like crazy in our group chat,"

Dan laughed. Of course he did. Phil was the most excited out of all of them.

-Later, at lunch-

Dan sat down by his usual lunch table with Louise and waited for his other friends to join him.

Chatter filled the room. Some complaining of schoolwork:

How does he expect up to finish this by tomorrow?!

I know! The workload they give us is ridiculous!

Some gossiping:

I heard that that guy; Dylan or Dil or something, was trying to hit on Eliza, even though she dating Bob.

No way! I thought he was dating Tabitha!

Others just catching up:

Yea, how about you?

Dan in all this just rested his head on the table. It's a habit that he always did when he was bored. He just sat and let his thoughts roam throughout his mind. Sometimes they got really deep, pondering about the universe deep. Thinking about death deep. But then all of a sudden...

"P!" Dan hollered as he sprung back upright.

All the sound just stopped in the cafeteria. Almost like a deafening silence.

"All of you stop staring," A voice yelled. "Just mind your own business, yeah?"

"Thanks PJ," Dan blushed. "Sorry I was so loud, I just had a 'Eureka!' moment."

"Cool, but what did it have to do with the letter 'P'?" Chris asked.

"Nothing." Dan swiftly replied. Oh but it was something that almost never happened. 3 words for you.

New. Soulmate. Detail.

Dan has just found that the soulmate's name starts with the letter 'p'. What could it be?

Pamela? Paula? Payge? Payton?

Dan doesn't tell his friends about his soulmate power thing, not even Phil. They'd think he'd gone mad.

"Hey, guys, where's Phil?" Dan asks.

"I don't know." They chorus.

I wonder why he isn't here? He seemed the most excited out of everyone.

Soon enough, the lunch bell rang.

"Quickly Dan!" Chris exclaimed. "Tell us the big news!"

"I shouldn't, not without Phil here..." Dan started. He paused, thinking what to do in this situation.

"Louise," Dan says in a blank, emotionless tone. "Let's go."

With that, Louise took Dan off to class, no words exchanged at all.
