Part 11 LHNB

It was Saturday afternoon and Nandini's mother gave her permission somehow to go to Soha's farmhouse. She came to Manik's house from where she can go with him. They were on their way to their destination in Manik's brand new Tesla.

They were wearing nice and cool casual summer party clothes.

The sound system was playing Justin Bieber's famous number. They both were enjoying the long drive without any disturbance.

Manik break the silence.

"I have a surprise for you when we go there..." he said with a smile on his face.

She looked at him with a question.

"Don't worry. There's nothing serious. But you will like it..." he said.

She thought maybe this trip of Soha's party will bring a change in everyone's life.

"I'm looking forward to whatever the surprise is...." she answered.

His fingers skimmed over hers while his eyes are fixed on the road. Awareness washes over her skin as he closed his fingers around her.

Soha's farm house was located at the Chicago and Michigan border. The beaches of Lake Michigan touches the corners of the farm house.

The weather was sunny with moderate temperatures and warm winds.

They arrived around mid afternoon. Soha invited so many people of mixed ethnicity. Her friends also includes Spanish and Mexicans people.

Manik parked his Tesla in the open lot where other cars were parked too. As soon as they entered the vicinity, Soha's waiting eyes found them and before Nandini says hi hello to them Soha grabbed Manik's arm and dragged him to her other friends saying
"Hi Manik, I was waiting for you so desperately. Come with me I want you to meet some of my good friends..." and Nandini was left alone standing and observing the farm house.

Soha's got a really huge farm house with lots of activities going on around. There's a gigantic swimming pool in the middle surrounded by lot of unknown faces. She saw that a barbecue stand was settled on one side of the swimming pool along with other delicacies, and the most important place for all the youth, a bar with bar stools around it.

And on top of that there's a huge music system in the corner with latest music going on with the latest singers. Right now Justin Berbers despacito was going on.

Nandini thought that Soha got a very nice taste in organizing parties. But she was standing alone without anyone to accompany her.

She felt a tap on her shoulder from the right. She turned to see Dhruv and Cabir standing there in their Hawaiian style shirts and shorts.

"Hey, what's up..." Cabir asked with a welcoming smile.
"Nothing much..." she took a deep breath and searched for Manik.

"I think Bhai will not be available for some time. Soha has planned this party to keep Bhai sticked to herself for the whole time..." Dhruv said looking around not seeing Manik.

Nandini's disappointment was clearly shown on her face.
"Don't worry gorgeous... we are here. And we will try our best to snatch away Bhai from Soha's evil clutches..." Dhruv said dramatically, which makes Nandini smile.

"Where is the rest of our staff..." Nandini thought that the whole company was invited.

"Only Melanie and few more is here..." Cabir informed.

"Hello sweetheart... look who is here..." Melanie came from somewhere with her hands up in the air in a dancing pose. And hugged Nandini giving her a cheerful surprise.
"And where is that handsome boyfriend of yours..." Melanie's blunt question startled her and makes her blush.

"He's not my boyfriend.." Nandini whispered hiding her gaze from both Dhruv and Cabir who were smiling widely by the comment.

"What! Really.. I thought you guys have made it official already..." Melanie really expected both of them to become official boyfriend and girlfriend.

"Did he left you behind again in the alter..." Melanie asked looking around for Manik.
"I spotted him. Let's go and grab him from the evil clutches of the villain girl.." Melanie is as dramatic as Dhruv. Everyone laughs on her.
Melanie and Nandini walked hand in hand towards Manik. Followed by Dhruv and Cabir.

Soha is holding his arm tight as she is not going to leave him any time soon.
As soon as Manik saw Melanie and Nandini together he was relieved. The man let out a breath of relief seeing them.

"Mel, hey how's it going.. when did you come..." he tried to remove Soha's hands from his arm. But no use.

"I was here before you came. But you didn't saw me..." Melanie gave a hug to Manik and noticed Soha's hand and grabbing it she pulled Manik with a jerk.

Before Soha could react she said
"Soha darling, you didn't introduce me with your friends... you've got some really hot guys over here. Come on introduce me to them..." she dragged Soha shaking her booty on the music and walked away to the other side.
After taking few steps Melanie turned her head to Manik and Nandini and winked at them.

Nandini smiled and came near Manik and stood by him.
"Thank goodness. Mel saved me. Otherwise Soha was not leaving me..." Manik explained.

"Why don't you stop her..." Nandini suppressed her bad mood and her jealousy and asked. But then got surprised at her own question.

Manik's amusement was clearly seen from his face.
"I can see something is burning..." he sniffed his nose going closer to Nandini's heart.
"Maybe someone's heart is burning with jealousy.. isn't it." He smirked.

"No..." she straightens herself and said.
"I'm not jealous. Why would I be jealous.."

"I didn't say you were jealous. You are saying it yourself..." he is enjoying a lot teasing her.

Nandini turned red due to his constant gaze in her.

She diverted his mind by asking.
"I'm thirsty. Can we get a drink.."
"Of course. Why not..." he said and they walked towards the bar. Taking the cocktail drinks they came inside the house to get some private time.

The glass windows of the house was tinted. No one can see from outside, what's going on inside the house.
"It's so nice and cool inside..."
Manik placed his drink glass on a table and grabbed Nandini by her wrist. Her words evaporated in the air by his action.

She looked into his eyes and saw raising desire in them. The feverish, the hungry desire. She licked her lips with anticipation.

"Oh dear God, he whispered roughly. "What is it with you that I can't keep my hands to myself..."

Before Nandini can say anything to him his mouth was on hers, ravishing, devouring, tasting the cocktail drink she just have.

She felt his arms searching all her body and resting on her arms on both the sides. She arched against his muscular length and opened her mouth to invite him in.

Their tongues tangled tantalizing the heat through each other. Suddenly the sound of a new song startled them both and diverted their attention. T- pain the best love song Of Chris brown echoed in the system.

"I think we should go outside or else they will think that we are gone missing..." Manik tried to cheer up. Nandini who was standing there with her head down blushing, smiled.

"You go. I'll be back in a sec..." she thought to straighten herself and her hair that is all tangled up due to his fingers that's caressing while he was kissing her.

"Ok. Don't make me wait too long..." he tugged her hair that's hanging down on her shoulders.

As soon as Manik left she felt a tap on her shoulder from the back. She turned around to see the same person who she saw in Kathy's wedding.

"Hey beautiful... good to see you.." he tried to give her a hug. But she kept her hand in between both of them to prevent him from hugging her.

"What! I was just giving you a hug as a greeting.." he said making a puppy face which is not likable.

"I don't give hugs to strangers..."

"But we've known each other. We already met before in the wedding. So we are not strangers..." he grinned a fake one.

"I don't know you. And that's all for me... and now if you can excuse me, I have to go...". She left his sight leaving his mouth hanging.

"Till when you will run from me. I will catch you. Before tonight..." he grinned evilly this time.

She came out as the music was on. Manik grabbed her by her waist and started grooving on the beats.

"Dance with me.." he whispered in her neck giving her tingling sensations.

Melanie Dhruv was being partners and sharing a very good dance space. Cabir thought he should've invited Navya here. He was missing her.

Dhruv grabbed a skewer of chicken kebab with a glass of drink.

Seeing him Manik felt hungry too. He pulled Nandini along with him towards the food table and they grabbed some mixed grilled skewers of veggies and chicken.

They were having fun altogether. But two people were not having the fun they have arranged for. Because Manik and Nandini are together.

Soha wanted Manik all for herself today. But he is not leaving Nandini for a single second. This is making her more frustrated.

"We have to make a plan. To separate them... or else this party will be a waste.." Soha was gritting her teeth.

"Wait till the night comes. I have a full proof plan. I'm hundred percent sure it will work..." Harshad said.

"What is it.." Soha asked. They were standing in the corner away from the eyes of all the people. So that no one will figure out that they are planning something fishy.

He said something in Soha's ears. She smile happily.

"I'm sure this plan will work. For sure." Soha gave a high five to him. They separated from each other to enjoy the party.

The party was on full bloom. Everyone is enjoying. Nandini has not been out without her friends. But here she is having a good time with Manik and his brother, and also some of the company friends.

The day has turned into very soothing and bright night with clear skies. Soha has arranged a bonfire. With marshmallows milk chocolate and graham crackers. After having nice and delicious barbecue meat the sweetness of marshmallows and chocolate soothes them down.

Some people were inside the beach house having a quiet time and some people is outside having fun with the bonfire.

Nandini and Manik were inside too. Manik got a call so he went out to take it as it's not a good reception on his phone here.

It's been a while since he was out. Nandini got worried. She got up from her cozy couch where she was sitting and started looking for him. She couldn't find him.

She asked a guy in front of her.

"Paul.. did you see Manik..."

"I saw him going out at the field..." Paul pointed at the direction.

Nandini walked at the field. It was darker. But she walked following through the light. She didn't find Manik but she met Harshad on her way. She startled seeing him.

"Look who is here. I knew it, you were missing me that's why came looking for me...am I right or am I right..." Harshad took small steps towards her. She didn't budge and showed her nervousness. To be frank she was not a little bit but a lot nervous being here alone with him.

"You are mistaken. I was not looking for you. I was looking for Manik..." she said hiding her fear.

"Why baby. I am not less from your so called Manik. Why don't you give me a chance to impress you...". He was very close to her. She took a few steps backwards. But he came closer to her again.

"I don't want to talk to you. I have to go..." But before she could turn around he grabbed her shoulders and tried to bend his mouth closer to hers.

Manik was done with his call. He was away in the open to catch the reception on his phone. He walked through the land and came near the house. He checked Nandini was not there. He thought maybe she went looking for him. He asked the same person named Paul.

Paul informed him that she went looking for him in the field. Manik followed the trail. As soon as he crossed the path, he came across Nandini and Harshad standing very close to each other. He saw Harshad's smiling face tilted and Nandini's back. By the look of it seems that Harshad was kissing her and she don't have any objections.

Because Manik couldn't see her full face. And it shows that maybe she was smiling.

And from this far away in the dark he can't see Nandini is struggling to get out of Harshad's grip. Manik couldn't see any more and walked away from them and came back into the house taking long strides. Soha noticed Manik's entry in the house and figured that her plan worked.

Here Nandini didn't let Harshad succeeded in his plans. She pushed him harder before he land his lips on hers. She was mad furiously.

She slapped him harder. Her eyes turned red due to tears and anger.

"How dare you..." and she ran away to the house.

In the house Manik went straight to the roof top and was pacing furiously across the open space.

Jealousy took over him. Sure in his life there has been a few times when girls didn't come around, but this!! It's been a different feeling altogether.

He hated how she could be two people. She smiled at him. She was nice and friendly talking to Harshad, he could notice from afar.
But he couldn't figure out what they were talking about.
Her smily face was enough to knock him off.

He got angry, his hands in fists, his eyes blazing, but underneath it was something more than anger. He was confused and he was hurt.

The way that Harshad was going closer to her, that's not a way a friend will approach.

Here Nandini was looking for Manik outside the house.

'How can she do that... she definitely knows this guys that's why she went so close to him...' he was pacing the rooftop furiously. With frustration and anger.

'I shouldn't have trusted her. I know her for what, only couple of weeks and I trusted her with my heart. How?? Why??' He fisted his hands and paced here and there on the rooftop.

'But I kissed her and she kissed me back for Pete's sake. How can someone kiss a person and gets intimate with another person....' his thoughts are going haywire.

'Am I overacting or overreacting... no I don't think so... I saw her with my own eyes, with someone else... my eyes can't be wrong...' his face was getting red with anger and madness. He saw Soha walking towards him from one door.

She came near her and hold his hands.
"Are you alright Manik..." she asked with a fake concerning voice.

He just nodded his head.

Just then Nandini walked from the same door. Manik looked at her. Her eyes were moist.

Manik thought that she came here to give some explanations.

"Oh baby... you look so pale..." Soha's voice dropped in his ears. By the time he response to Soha, she grabbed his shirt collar and pushed herself onto his chest and hugged him. Manik's mind was so confused.

'Why is she crying. When she is getting intimate with someone else...' unintentionally his hands lifted up to hug Soha while his eyes was locked with Nandini's.

Nandini didn't expected Manik to hug Soha like that. She couldn't take it anymore. This was all too much for her. She wiped her nose and her eyes and walked back the way she came in.

When she came down the roof and out of the house rubbing her eyes not knowing where she's going, she bumps into someone. And before falling she was caught hold by the person.

"Wo wo gorgeous, hold it. Where are you running and who are you running from..." thankfully it was Dhruv.

But seeing her crying face he got serious.
"Nandini... honey, what's wrong. Why are you crying..." he asked

She tried to gave a fake smile.
"Nothing. Actually..." she tried very hard to stop her tears.
"Actually, I never stayed away from home anytime. So I'm getting homesick..." she have an excuse.
"Can you drop me home.." she asked.

Dhruv rubbed a hand on his hair and hesitated for a bit.

"I know it's a long way back. But please. It's a request..." her eyes were teary and her face sad that Dhruv couldn't say no.

"Ok. Let's go.." he said.

"Thanks Dhruv. I will be very thankful..."
"Friends don't say thanks to friends..." Dhruv gave a pat on her shoulder.

In the car.
She was still crying.
"Atleat tell me what's the problem. Why are you crying..." Dhruv couldn't see her like this. He couldn't understand what's bothering her. He was driving his car in the dark streets of the country side. They still have few more minutes to touch the highway.

"Its nothing. I just..." she hiccuped and stopped talking again.

"Listen sweetie. If you don't tell me what's bothering you how can I help you or calm you down..." they almost reached the highway. The signs showing is only quarter of a mile to the interstate highway.

Nandini was trying an unnecessary attempt to wipe of her tears which is falling nonstop. Her heart was hurt. She didn't expected this from Manik. He ignores her purposely and hugged Soha.
Why??

What was he trying to prove. Was he like this. If he is interested in Soha then why...
Why was he kissing her whenever he gets a chance.
Why does he tries to get intimate with her when he is interested in Soha.
She was hurt very bad. And when the picture of Manik and Soha hugging each other comes in front of her eyes her tears flooded again.
And on top of that Harshad 's behavior has fulfilled the rest of the thing. By forcing himself on her.

Seeing her condition, Dhruv couldn't take it anymore. He stopped the car before taking the exit for the highway.

He breaks the car abruptly. "That's it. I can't take it anymore...." he turned towards her and asked.
"What's the matter. I made you my friend not just for name sake. I care for you. Tell me what's wrong. Talk..." he demanded.

Nandini stepped out of the car not seeing that they are near the exit of a highway. She cried again.
Dhruv came out too.
"That.... that guy... that Harshad..." she sniffles.
"He forced himself on me..." she told him about the whole thing with stifling and crying.

"What..." Dhruv's temper rose.
"How dare he..." he fist his hands and blows it on the air. Turning towards her he asked.
"Why didn't you tell me before. We should've informed Bhai. We should've have taught him a lesson for his misbehavior. Are you ok. Did he tried anything not appropriate on you..." he asked bending down on her face.

She shook her head in a no.
"Please don't say anything to Manik. Please promise me that you won't say anything to anyone. Promise me.." she pleaded holding his hand.

"Ok I won't say anything..." he don't understand why she is taking such a promise.

"That's it. Let's go back. I will teach him a lesson..." he turned around fiercely, but Nandini stopped him.

"No Dhruv. I don't want to go back. Please. I want to go home...". She was in a pleading state.
"I know I dragged you out of the party. And it's a long drive from here. But please. I want to go home. Can you please drop me home..."

"But..."
"Please.." she didn't wanted to deal with anything yet. She didn't wanted to see Manik yet.

She was shaken today. Firstly by the incident that happened with Harshad. And secondly, the rejection she saw in Manik's eyes. It broke her. It literally shattered her. She was surprised. Shocked, stunned. All of that by seeing the change in Manik's attitude.

But she didn't know one thing that Manik has seen her with Harshad. And he was in a huge misunderstanding that somehow Nandini could be involved with Harshad. And by the look of it. He thought that Nandini and Harshad was kissing.

Nandini is unaware of this misunderstanding.

Dhruv drove her to her house, that is her actual house. Because Dhruv kno s that sometimes Nandini stayed with Aliya and Navya. Aliya told him that. Nandini fell asleep throughout the drive. Dhruv felt happy that she trusted her with him taking her home alone and she fell asleep.

When they reached her home he woke her up. He asked her if she's feeling ok. She gave an assurance that she's fine. She went inside and went to sleep.

The rest of the weekend went by quietly. She shared the incident with Navya and Aliya that happened with her. Both the girls gone mad hearing her. But Nandini calm them down by saying that she's ok now. And she will do her job with sincerity without getting herself involved with Manik.

Next week on Monday, Nandini went back to work as usual. Now that Kathy is back so she don't have to deal with Manik anymore as his personal assistant. Manik didn't realize that Kathy was back. He was expecting Nandini when he calls for his things.

Even Nandini didn't have him his coffee.
"Where's ms Nandini..." he asked his head bending down on the file. He didn't wanted to show his feelings to her.

"She is working on the designs for Mrs. Williams with Melanie in the designs department..." Kathy answers.

'She didn't even came and see me. She didn't greet me either... ok... she wants to give me attitude. Fine then. I won't see her either...' he thought to himself.

"You can go now.." he send Kathy away.

When she left he stands up from his chair and started pacing in his room.

'First she was getting intimate with that douche bag of a guy. Now she didn't even came and see me... how dare she...'

He walked out of his office. Kathy stands as she sees her. He walked passed her and off to the elevator. He went down to the designs department. He exits the elevator and walked straight to Melanie.

"Hey sweetie. What brings you down here.."Melanie asked lifting her head from her design pad.

His gaze stopped on Nandini who was sitting and doing her designs.

"Good morning Mr Malhotra..." she said blankly.

'Mr. Malhotra..' he got surprised.

"Good morning... Melanie if you don't mind can I borrow you assistant for few minutes..." he asked not moving his sharp stare from Nandini.

Nandini didn't bother. Because she was mad that he hugged Soha.

"Of course. Why not. Don't make it too long. We have a deadline..." Melanie winked at him.

Manik walked back without waiting long.

Nandini thought going towards his office.

'I'm not going to stay long. I will just ask what the work is and I will leave...'

'I will not entertain him anymore. If he can't think about me and if he just want to be close to Soha. Then be it. I will not care..'

She knocked and enters his office.

He was in a ticked off mood as it is. As soon as she enters he asked directly, "Who was that guy you were getting intimate with.." without any warning.

"I beg your pardon..." her eyes bulged out.

"I didn't asked any out of the blue question. I just want to know who was that guy. You met him in Kathy's wedding. But I just want you to admit that you knew him from before..." he came straight to the point.

'What!! Really!!' She thought. 'Why should I admit when I don't know him.'

"No I didn't know him from before. He is a stranger to me..." she said with a straight voice.

"How come you were getting so close to a stranger..."

"I wasn't getting..." she looked at him straight into his eyes.

'You think such low of me... ' she thought unbelievably.

"Never mind... I don't think I should owe any explanations to you.."
she was hurt by his thinking. She turned away and hide her pain and her tears.

"We are grownups and we are mature enough to make our own decisions... I don't think I have to give any explanations to you." Her words are piercing through his heart.

His blood was boiling to the extremes that it can blow up any time.

"I just wanted to know do you know him. That's all...." he fisted his hands to control the urge to kiss her. He stood Astro forward getting closer to her.

"And I don't want to answer you..."

'when we don't have the trust between us then there's no need of any further talk. ' she thought.

He came close to her. She didn't budge.
He took another step closer to her. The heat of their bodies were irresistible.

He couldn't resist. He hissed some curse words under his breath. With the devilish amusement of his own, he snaked out a hand and grabbed one of hers in a tight grip, pulling her forward, turning her around , without giving her a moment to think. He wrapped his other hand and pulled her into a kiss.

She stiffened for a brief moment whether it was to fight him or to run away from him, but she decided to not fight anymore. She wanted the same thing as it is. Her stiffness relaxed under his fingers and she stepped into him.

The softness of her mouth and the play of their tongues took him to another level. Her curves slipped into his hands As he shifted his grip from her back to her waist. With his other hand he skimmed it upwards to her breast line brushing lightly against her cup.

A moan whispered through her lips. He did it again. But this time he cupped her breast through her clothes.

She got a sensational whiff around her body. She moved more closer to his touch as they leaned in each other's body.

"Manik---"
"What?" He answered through his mouth still over hers. His fingers playing with her torso putting more pressure on her breast.

She stepped back, her lips wet from their kiss and her eyes dark eyes glistening and glowing with an arousal.
"We can't do this.."

"Of course we can do this.." he levered his hands again at her hips to pull her closer.

"No. We can't.." her voice was more firmer this time.

"But why..." he asked disappointed.

"We should straighten ourselves first. Trust... we have to trust ourselves with each other first. Before we go into any further discussion.. or any other thing."
Before he muster up and response she was out of his office.

Manik couldn't figure out what she wants and what he wants. The only thing he needs is to be closer to her, near her, spend time with her, always.

He is going to work on that for sure.
