THE SPY

Somehow Steve and Ellie found Dustin and Josie. One moment Ellie was waiting for Steve to apologize to Nancy then come back and finish explaining but instead he was gone for only half a minute before he was back into the car with Josie and Dustin following.

Dustin then went on a rant about having a problem with dart, the blob that was supposed to be missing, and that he needed someone's help and Steve just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

"Wait a sec. How big?" Steve asked breaking the long silence.

"First it was like that." Dustin said holding up his hands "Now he's like this." Spreading his hands further apart.

There was a pause

"I swear to God, man, it's just some little lizard, okay?" Steve yelled denying Dustin's theory.

"It's not a lizard." Dustin and Josie snapped back. "How do you know?" Steve quickly said glancing at the two in the back.

"How do I know if it's not?" Dustin asked in an 'are you serious tone'

"How do you know it's not just a lizard?" Steve repeated his question with a little more explanation.

"Because his face opened up and he ate my cat." Ellie's eyes went wide as she fully turned around to look at the boy "what."

The car stopped and the group stepped out of the car each walking towards the trunk where Steve now stood holding a bat with a bunch of nails in it.

"What is That" Ellie asked staring at the bat. Steve looked over at Ellie his mouth slightly open "it's a bat".

"Yeah no shit. I mean like, why do you have it, where did you get it" Ellie stuttered out.

Steve looked over at dustin hopping the child would have an answer, only for the boy to shrug his shoulder and step back.

Steve then turned back to Ellie a small grin on his face "non of your business"

"He got it from Nancy" Josie said from behind her. Ellie turned to looked at the girl "how do you know that" Ellie asked, Josie pointed to dustin "dustin told me"

Ellie glanced over at Steve the two sharing a knowing look before Ellie went back to the subject "like your girlfriend Nancy" Ellie asked furrowing her eyebrows.

"Ex-girlfriend" dustin cut in as the group began walking over to Dustin's underground shed (I forgot what they are called).

Ellie now raised her eyebrows looking back at Steve "when did that happen" she asked walking a little faster to catch up with him "a few days ago" he mumbled.

"Why didn't you tell me" Ellie asked as the group stopped at the doors. Steve placed his hand over her mouth whispering that she 'has to be quiet so it doesn't hear them'.

The group was quiet for a moment all trying to hear it.

"I don't hear shit" Steve spoke up "he's in there" dustin said stepping closer to the older boy.

Steve stepped forwards glancing at the group behind him before tapping the bat against the doors. After not hearing anything Steve lifted the bat hitting against the door, harder.

"All right, Listen, kid. I swear, if this is some sort of Halloween prank, you're dead" Steve said flashing the flashlight in Dustin's face "it's not." Dustin mumbled squinting his eyes so he could see better.

"All right?" Steve stared at dustin "It's not a prank" dusting paused "get it out of my face."

Steve kept the flashlight aimed at dustin "you got a key for this thing?" Now lowering it.

Dustin did have a key and he gave it to Steve. Steve then unlocked the chains and opened the doors slowly.

Josie and Ellie stood back as Steve and dustin looked down the stairs, shining the flashlight so they could see. "He must be further down there" dustin mumbled.

"If anything happens, we run" Ellie whispered to Josie who nodded "I'll drive"

The girls watched as Steve stood up before walking down the stairs "he's going down there" Ellie asked, dustin turning to her and nodding.

The group stood there for about a minute, dustin randomly calling for Steve, before Steve appeared back at the bottom of the stairs.

"Get down here" Steve Said shining the flashlight into Dustin's eyes, again.

Ellie was the first to go down the stairs, then was Josie, followed by a very hesitant dustin.

"Shit" dustin mumbled as he looked at the shedded skin of his founded reptile. Steve moved his bat to the side as he flashed his flashlight at a large hole in the wall "oh shit" dustin repeated only louder.

"No way" Josie mumbled as they all stepped in front of the whole.

The group had come up with a plan to find dart. They were gonna use a lot of bait to draw him to a place where they would capture him.

Now they were pulling buckets of bait out of the back of Steve's car.

"Dustin. This is Lucas. Do you copy? Dustin?" Dustin stopped taking out the buckets and stepped to the side "well, well, well, look who it is"

"Sorry, man. My stupid sister turned it off." Lucas' voice crackled through the radio "well, while you were having sister problems, dart grew again, he escaped, and I'm pretty sure he's a baby Demogorgon" dustin explained to Lucas stepping further away.

"Wait. What?" Lucas was clearly confused "I'll explain later. Just meet me, Steve, Josie, and Ellie at the old junkyard" dustin said turning back to the group as they stood around the buckets. "And bring your binoculars and wrist rocket"

"Steve and Ellie Harrington" Lucas asked as Steve closed the trunk "all right, let's go" he grabbed two buckets "just be there, stat. Over and out." Dustin said as the girls grabbed the other buckets.

The group now walked down the train tracks, dustin leading the way, Steve following him, and Josie and Ellie close behind.

Steve and Dustin were in their own conversation as Josie and Ellie talked amongst themselves.

"So what's with you and Dustin" Ellie asked watching dustin and Steve talk "what" Josie asked, Ellie turned to her "you and Dustin" Ellie repeated wiggling her eyebrows.

"Nothing is going on between me and Dustin" Josie said throwing bait onto the ground "then what were you doing with him earlier" Ellie asked looking up at the boys in front of them as they paused for a moment.

"I was with him when he found dart, so I was just helping" Josie mumbled slamming a piece of bait onto the ground.

"Yeah sure, and it has nothing to do with the fact that you've had a crush on him since we were in like kindergarten" Ellie laughed stepping onto the side of the train tracks.

"That's Not True" Josie paused, pointing her finger at Ellie "that's just something you came up with in your own head" Josie continued walking.

"Are you sure, 'cause I'm pretty sure it was during 2nd grade recess when you told me that you were in love with him" Ellie paused "and that was after you spent many moons talking about him over the phone"

Ellie could practically hear Josie roll her eyes as they approached the two boys.

"Do you understand" Steve was facing dustin "yup" dustin slightly nodded "understand what" Ellie asked as the girl stood beside them "nothing" dustin said in a high pitched voice.

Ellie looked over at Josie for a moment, the girl sharing the same look as Ellie before she looked back at dustin lightly nodding her head "okay" she mumbled pushing past the two.

The group paused at the entrance of the junk yard.

Steve looked around for a moment "oh, yeah. Yeah, this'll do." Steve began walking forwards removing his sunglasses "this'll do just fine. Good call dude"

Ellie and Josie stood there watching Steve and Dustin walk into the junkyard. Ellie began lightly tapping her foot against the ground before she quickly turned to Josie "is this a bad idea" she asked the girl.

Josie watched the boys for another second before she turned to Ellie "this is a terrible idea" she said, then following the boys into the junkyard.

"That's just Great" Ellie mumbled as she slowly followed Josie. "I think I have to pee" Josie said to Ellie as they caught up too Steve and Dustin.

The group dumped the bait on the ground in the middle of the feild.

"I said medium-well" Lucas' voice echoed through the feild. The group looked over from the direction his voice came from.

Ellie froze it was Lucas and max.

Max stood at the top of the hill, her bright red hair blowing in the wind. Max looked at Ellie and smiled, she almost fainted.

"Who's that" steve asked from beside Ellie. Ellie's eyes quickly snapped over to Steve "that's max" she said, probably too quickly guessing by the look on her brothers face.

Dustin ended up dragging Lucas behind a car, probably scolding him for bringing max as the others began to work.

The kids began to set up the rest of the stuff as the sky grew darker. Once they finished they all made their way into the bus sitting randomly throughout the seats.

Lucas went up on top of the roof for a minute to look around before coming back down and mumbling an "all clear"

"So you really fought one of these things before?" Max asked Steve from her spot in the back of the bus. Ellie looked up at her brother as he nodded "and you're, like, totally, 100% sure it wasn't a bear?"

"Shit. Don't be an idiot. Okay? It wasn't a bear" Ellie's eyes went wide as she looked over at dustin "why are you even here if you don't believe us? Just go home"

Before Ellie said anything max had stood up "Geesh. Someone's cranky. Past your bedtime?" Max said as she climbed up the ladder.

Ellie sat there for a moment staring up the latter debating if she was gonna go or not. Eventually she stood up, glancing over at Josie, who was still staring at dustin in shock, before she made her way up the latter.

"It's kinda awesome" Max said as Ellie sat across from her "hmm" Ellie hummed turning to the red head "the fog I mean" max said looking down at all the fog by the ground.

"Looks like the ocean" Max said looking back over at Ellie, who's eyes hadn't left max. "You Miss it?" Ellie asked softly "the ocean, the waves. California"

Max stayed quiet "Hawkins seems pretty lame, I bet" Ellie chuckled "no, no, no, it's not that. It's just" max paused "my dads still there. So..."

Ellie adjusted her posture, leaning forwards a little "why" she asked, max glanced back at the fog for a moment before looking back at Ellie. "It's this legal term called "divorce". See, when. Two married people don't love each other anymore" Ellie rolled her eyes with a small laugh "yeah"

"My mom and my stepdad, they wanted a fresh start away from him. As if... As if he was the problem, which is total bull. And things... are just worse now" Ellie's eyes softened at Max's words "my stepbrothers always been a dick, but now he's just angry, all the time and, well, he can't take it out on my mom, so"

"So he takes it out on you" Ellie asked in almost a whisper. The two went silent.

"I don't even know why I'm telling you this. It's just" max paused "I know that I can be a jerk like him sometimes, and I do not want to be like him. Ever. I guess I'm angry, too, and I'm sorry" Ellie paused looking at the girl in front of her. She didn't know what to say.

"Jesus, what's wrong with me?" Max brushed the tears out of her eyes. Ellie sat straight up "hey. You're nothing like your brother, okay? You're cool and different. And you're super smart. And you're, like, totally tubular" Ellie said, mimicking Lucas and Dustin on Halloween.

Max laughed. Ellie liked her laugh.

"Nobody actually says that, you know" max said "well, I do now" Ellie said with a huge smile on her face.

"And it makes you seem really cool" max said, clearly sarcastically. Ellie looked down "yeah, I know"

Ellie looked back up at max, her eyes locking on the red heads "I like talking to you, mad max" Ellie noticed max slightly shift "I like talking to you too, Harrington" max said with a smile.

The two froze as a loud roar broke through the silence.

Ellie slid to the slide as Lucas crawled up the latter with his binoculars. "Lucas, what's going on" dustin said from below "hold on" Lucas yelled back as he got himself set up.

Lucas looked around the feild, pausing on a spot "I've got eyes! Ten o'clock! Ten o'clock" Lucas yelled.

Max grabbed the goggles from Lucas, looking through the lens. "Wait, are you sure that's not a dog" max asked, both Ellie and Lucas mumbling a confused "what"

The trio heard the door of the bus open, all eyes falling on Steve as he exited the bus. Ellie quickly jumped down the latter, running over to dustin and Josie. "What is he Doing" Ellie asked leaning against the window "expanding the menu"

"He's so stupid" Ellie Said watching her brother threw the gates window. "He's awesome" dustin mumbled from beside her, only earning himself an annoyed look from Ellie.

"Steve watch out" Lucas yelled from the roof "a little busy here" Steve yelled back

"Three o'clock! Three o'clock!" Steve turned, and sure enough, there was another one.

Dustin jumped up running to the door yelling "Steve! Abort! Abort"

The kids All crowded around the door as Steve quickly made his way back to the bus.

Steve jumped through the open door, Ellie slamming it behind him, a demo dog running right into it.

"Oh shit" dustin mumbled pushing Steve off of him "are they rabid or something" max asked as Steve put more things in front of the door.

"They can't get in" Lucas repeated a few times, only really reassuring himself.

The kids all ran to the back of the bus hiding from the demo dogs. Dustin panicked yelling a bunch of things into his walkie, hoping that someone would finally answer.

Suddenly there was a loud bang, then it all went quiet, Until another bang hit the roof.

The kids all looked up towards the roof as the bangs neared the latter. Max, who was standing at the bottom of the latter, looked up her eyes going wide as she stared face to face with a demo dog.

Max scream causing Steve to run towards her pushing her out of the way and looking up at the demo dog.

Ellie ran right to Maxs side, pulling her further away from the latter as Steve threatened the monster, swinging his bat around.

"What in the shit fucks is that" Ellie yelled, her hand grabbing max's.

The demo dog let out a loud scream, as if he was going to attack, only to stop, turn, and run away, leaving the group of kids scared and confused.

The moment max has realized she was holding Ellie's hand, she panicked and dropped it, the two then sharing an awkward glance.

The group made their way out of the bus, Steve leading them, his bat tight in his hands.

"What happened" Lucas asked as they looked at the clear junk yard. "I don't know" Ellie mumbled stepping out of the bus.

"Steve scared 'em off?" Dustin questioned poking his head out from behind max. "No. No way. They're going somewhere" Steve turned to the kids.

Steve then began to walk off, each of the kids following shortly after, but Ellie and Josie stood there for a minute watching them walk.

"That was definitely a bad idea" Josie mumbled, stepping beside her as Ellie hummed in agreement.

"I think I peed my pants a little" Josie whispered looking over at Ellie.

I love how I said I wanted to finish this half of season 2 faster then the first half then didn't update for almost 3 whole ass months.
