Chapter 10: Molly
Molly had recognised Ian instantly, adult diaper and all. She'd had the biggest crush on him at school, but they moved in different circles and he dated girls like Mel, with big boobs and too much makeup.
She watched him out of the corner of her eye as she helped him pick up leaflets off the tiled floor. He wasn't wearing a shirt, and it was making her feel uncomfortably hot.
Oh man, he's gorgeous!
"I know. I look ridiculous. My sister made me do it," he said, looking up at her with those amazing blue eyes. Like a tropical ocean, one could very easily drown in.
"You must love her very much?" She said as she reluctantly pulled her gaze from him and picked up more bits of paper.
He laughed before saying, "I crashed her car and now I owe her. It's nothing major, but she'll still need to claim insurance. So here I am, humiliating myself in front of a mall full of people."
He made it seem like he was embarrassed, but he still gave off that confident vibe that she found very attractive, and he really worked that man-baby look.
"I think it's sweet you're doing this for her. Shows how much you love her." He looked uncomfortable with her sappy words.
He loves his family. Another tick for how wonderful he is.
"So anyway, what brings you to the mall on this fine and over-commercialised day?"
She could tell he was uncomfortable, so went with the subject change.
"Just wasting time before my shift at the English Pub."
"You're allowed to work in a pub?" He asked in bewilderment.
"It's more of a restaurant, I waitress there," she said, laughing at his shocked expression.
"Oh, I don't think I've ever eaten there before."
"You should definitely try it sometime. The food is amazing."
"Thanks, I might just do that," Ian said, smiling at her. "So no hot date then?"
She almost dropped the stack of leaflets she'd just picked up. His smile had the oddest effect on her. Her whole body felt all jello-ee.
"Don't be ridiculous." She looked at the ground to hide her flushed face from him.
He reached over and pushed her red hair back behind her ear. "I like being able to see your face. You have very cute freckles."
"Um... I ah... I better get going. My shift starts soon." She needed to get out of there before she made a fool of herself. Because she totally would.
"Well, thanks for the help, Molly. I might see you around later."
"Yeah, maybe."
She quickly handed the paper stack over, but not before her hands brushed against his and her legs nearly gave out under her.
Get a grip, Molly, it's just Ian. You've known him since middle school—and loved him since then. Shut up, stupid brain!
She rushed away, nearly colliding with her boss, who seemed to be angrily stalking towards the stairs leading up the management offices. He must be really pissed about something, because he didn't even see her.
As she approached the pub, she realised what the problem was. A pretty bright pink tent stood directly in front of it. And then she remembered the maitre d had given it the okay last month over the phone. Molly had a feeling he had forgotten to mention it to Hunter.
Oh dear.
She looked back in the direction Hunter had gone in, but only saw the cute cupid waving at her on the other side of the fountain. She blushed at his attention. Then an older woman came out of the jewellery store behind him and started waving as well. He stopped when he saw her and gave her a playful shove. She playfully pushed him back and laughed.
Aww, that must be his sister. They look so sweet together.
He looked her way again, and she waved back. It felt really weird, waving to Ian Dent, in a mall of all places, and wearing a diaper, of all things. But she had to admit she liked it very much.
