After a few more laser puzzles, we made it to a pretty dim area where Mettaton stood in the middle. He explained how Alphys was the cause of all Mettaton's attempts to kill Chara and I so she could be part of our adventure and seem like the hero. Chara put her hand on my shoulder and whispered in my ear. 

"Knew it." She said before letting Mettaton continue. 

He then started talking about how this would be a real fight instead of one of our previous planned, fake ones. When he finished his spiel, I entered a fight and my half soul appeared in front of me. I could hear Alphys trying to get into the room and Chara cheering me on in the background. I smiled wide and posed dramatically any chance I got. Whenever I would get low on health, I would use an MTT brand food item to heal to sponsor him. The crowd seemed to love me as I played along with Mettaton's show. I could see a ratings chart and they seemed to be pretty good. Alphys gave me some tips on how to defeat Mettaton. I did as Alphys said which was to press his switch and the most dramatic reveal happened right in front of my closed eyes. Fog clouded my vision then slowly cleared out to reveal Mettaton but his body was different. He was no longer just the square calculator robot I knew. He now had more of a human physique and the nicest pair of legs I had ever seen. The fight went on for some more time with nothing really interesting to report.

By the end of it all, I had blasted off all of Mettaton's limbs and left him just a body on the ground. Alphys had finally found her way into the room and saw Mettaton's unconscious state. 

"Oh my god. Mettaton! Mettaton, are you... Thank GOD it's just the batteries. Mettaton, if you were dead, I would have... I would have... I m-mean, h-hey, it's n-no problem, you know? He's just a robot, if you messed it up, I c-could just... J-just build another... Why don't you go on ahead?" Alphys said in a worried voice. 

Chara and I walked into the next room and Alphys came running back up to us. She explained what was about to happen to us as we made our way to the elevator. Chara and I reached the elevator and Alphys said her goodbyes. We entered the elevator and it closed, Alphys' figure disappearing behind the door. The elevator started to move without me having to press any buttons. I felt Chara slowly slide their hand into mine but I paid no attention because I knew if I did, they would stop. Their fingers intertwined with mine and I looked over to see them bashfully looking down and away from me, their cheeks more rosy than usual. I gently squeezed their hand and looked back towards the elevator door. From the corner of my eye, I could see them look back at me and I just pretended to ignore them. After being in the elevator for an almost awkwardly long amount of time, the doors opened and we walked out, still holding hands. The area looked very similar to the ruins but it was completely grey in colour. Walking through the area, we made our way into what looked like a replica of goat mom's house. The way to the stairs was locked and although I could totally just walk over the chain or crawl under it, I decided to find the keys that unlocked it. While still holding Chara's hand, I walked into the hallway. In the hallway was one of the two keys to the chain. I grabbed it and walked into the first room. It looked like a children's bedroom with the only coloured thing being two boxes in the room. I opened one to reveal a knife. Sharp and clean, gleaming from the artificial light in the room. I decided to take it but I didn't equip it since I didn't think I would have to fight. I opened the next box and inside laid a gold locket with the words "Best Friends Forever" etched into it. I picked it up and heard a gasp come from beside me. I looked over at Chara and saw them covering their mouth with eyes, glazed with tears. I walked behind Chara and fastened the locket on them. Walking back in front of them, I marvelled at how nice they looked in the locket. They placed their hand on the locket and gave me a bashful look. They suddenly pulled me into a hug and I hugged back. 

"This was a gift from my brother. He got it for me the year after I fell for a present." Chara told me. 

We then walked out of the room and went into the kitchen. The other key I needed was there so I grabbed it and went to unlock the chain. Here we go. Just one more step closer to the end...
