Chapter One
"CJ!" Phoebe yelled from upstairs, causing the inky haired woman to launch upward in her bed, she threw her covers to the ground, not even bothering to throw on her black fluffy bunny slippers as she rushed to her ex-sister in law. She ran into the living room, breathing heavily as she screeched to a halt. "Hey, there, sis. . ." The brunette witch drifted, standing behind a playpen with an awkward smile on her lips.
"What's wrong?" The witch asked, throwing her wavy hair into a high messy bun. "It sounded important," she looked into the playpen, seeing a baby lying in it that wasn't Wyatt. "Who the hell is that?"
"Yeah, that's what we needed you for." Paige shrugged, "You're on babysitting duty."
"What?!" The woman screeched, "I don't even know whose kid that is, guys, I'm not gonna—"
"It's a half-demon baby!" Paige exclaimed, cutting her off. The ginger looked at her with distrustful eyes, "We figured, since you know the most about that subject, you'd be the best candidate."
Carina Jordyn Cromwell glared at the woman, before Phoebe stepped toward her; her icy blue eyes met the woman's coffee colored ones. Phoebe placed her hands on her shoulders, carefully, "We vanquished it's mother, this morning. We need to figure out what to do, but we can't focus on that, Wyatt, and this baby all at the same time. . . Please, CJ?"
The black haired witch sighed, approaching the playpen and hoisting the baby from it. She cradled him in her arms, smiling slightly at his bright, bottle green, twinkling eyes; they reminded her of a certain neurotic whitelighter, and she'd wondered where he'd been. They hadn't seen Chris for almost a week.
"Ok, Wyatt's upstairs, so at least he's—"
The sound of Wyatt orbing into the playpen cut Piper's sentence off, and the three women looked at the baby blond; CJ shrugged, looking toward the eldest Charmed One. "Maybe he wants to play?"
She slowly placed the half-demon baby into the playpen with Wyatt, motioning her had toward the two when she'd noticed that Wyatt hadn't put his shield up. "He didn't put his shield up, Piper. It looks like he thinks he's a friend."
"That is not a friend," she droned, her arms crossed over her chest. "That is a demon. No offense, CJ."
"None taken." She shrugged, releasing a yawn. She turned to Phoebe, "Since the three of you are down here, I'm gonna go change."
She exited the room, tiredly walking downstairs and into her bedroom, also known as the basement. Locking the door behind her, she opened her drawer and began to pull out a black and purple plaid skirt, fishnet leggings, a black sequin tube top, and glanced at her closet to ensure that her leather jacket was still hanging up.
Just as she clipped her bra, she heard someone orbing into her room. She jumped, holding her spiked jacket over her half-naked body, before turning to face the shaggy haired whitelighter, "Have you ever heard of, I don't know, knocking on a door?" She exclaimed, just as the man had fully orbed into the room. He widened his eyes, averting his gaze quickly.
"Shit. I thought you were still asleep."
"No," she scoffed, "Phoebe woke me up and gave me demon-babysitting duty. Look, can you, like, bury your face into something? You just standing there looking away gives me the creeps."
He looked at her, raising his eyebrows in a suggestive manner; she rolled her eyes, telekinetically launching a pillow at him. "You know what I meant. Either hide your face, or get the fuck out."
Chris smirked, holding the pillow in front of his face as he allowed her to finish changing in private. "Nice tats." He commented, earning another eyeroll from the girl. She had four tattoos, two on her thighs, one on her forearm, and another on her right hip.
"Thanks, Perv." She muttered, snatching the pillow back from him and tossing it onto her bed. She turned back toward him, crossing her arms over her chest, "Why'd you orb into my room, of all places?"
He shrugged, "I was gonna wake you up, with that demon baby upstairs, there's no time to be sleeping in."
"Ok," she began, "well now that I'm awake, get out."
He nodded, about to orb from the room, before pausing. "Don't get attached to the kid. Remember it's still—"
"Half demon." She finished, averting her gaze from his jade green eyes. They'd managed to hide that she was also half-demon, not wanting Chris' demon-hunting binge to level up and cause him to try and kill her; not like he would succeed, but they still didn't want to risk it. "I got it."
He nodded, orbing from her room, and into the room that the sisters were in. CJ rolled her eyes, rushing upstairs after magically applying her makeup. "I think he likes you," Paige said, her eyes locked onto Chris as he looked to the baby.
"I don't care, vanquish it." He demanded, snapping his head back toward the sisters. CJ snuck into the mix, slowly taking the baby out of the playpen and holding him on her hip. "I mean it! Now!" He said, looking back to see that the baby was gone from it's spot; he looked around in a panic, his gaze locking onto CJ; she was smiling at the boy, tickling his side with her free arm as he released small giggles. "Carina!" He yelled, causing the witch's head to snap toward him, "Put him down!"
"No. He likes me," she shrugged, "I know what I'm doing, Chris."
"How would you—"
"We're not vanquishing a baby, Chris." Paige chimed, causing his head to snap back toward her. "What's wrong with you?"
"I'm just concerned that this could be the future evil that gets to Wyatt." He defended, motioning his arm toward the baby held by their pale eyed friend. CJ rolled her eyes, before chiming into the conversation once more.
"Chris, if Wyatt sensed danger, he would've put his shield up around him." She sighed, placing the baby back into the playpen; Chris' eyes scanned over her body with a mixture of defiance and attraction. "And not every half-demon is destined to be evil."
The two would fire insults back and forth, and it would always, somehow, result to flirting. They were just joking around, they always were, but he had to admit that she looked incredible in that outfit.
"Yeah," Paige began, "don't be ridiculous."
"What? I'm being ridiculous?" He fired back, his jade eyes illuminated with irritation as he looked to the strawberry blonde witch. "There is a demon in the playpen."
CJ walked over, stopping on Chris' left. She shrugged, looking up at him; "I was given babysitting duty, anyways. While they figure out what to do, at least you know I'll be watching him."
The phone rang, but Chris' gaze hadn't left her hauntingly pale irises. He was lost in them; Paige went to answer the call, and Phoebe said something about Jason, before the brunette whitelighter pulled CJ to the side. "I really don't think you watching him is a good idea. It took the power of three to vanquish his mom, if something happens, I'm not sure you'll be able to handle it."
"Chris, how many times have you seen me fight?"
He rolled his eyes, "That's not the point, here. You fight innocents in an octagon, and lower-level demons in the streets. That's not a demon-baby whose mother needed the power of three to be vanquished."
She sighed, plunging her hands into her jacket pockets. "I can handle it." She nodded, before smirking playfully, "Careful, you keep worrying about what I do, I might start thinking you care about me."
He rolled his eyes once more, before the girl approached the playpen and picked up the baby once more. His tongue slithered from his lips, picking up a green pacifier from the playpen, and pulling it into his mouth; Chris widened his eyes, looking to Phoebe and Piper. "We've got to do something about this baby. Fast."
...
Piper and Chris had gone to the attic after Phoebe and Paige left, wanting to look through the Book of Shadows to figure what type of demon they're dealing with, leaving CJ downstairs to watch the demon-baby. Wyatt had orbed up to the attic, wanting to be close with his mother, so it was just the two half-demons left in the foyer. CJ held the baby on her hip, aimlessly walking through the house with a smile; he wasn't fussy, and his eyes had begun to droop shut. He fell asleep on her side, and when she'd try to lay him down, he would wake back up.
She realized that, he could sense that she was just like him, and felt secure around her, and her only. She sighed, smiling as his head layed on her shoulder. She entered the attic silently, causing Chris to look at her curiously.
"Where's Piper?" She asked, looking around the attic for any sign of the brunette. "The kid fell asleep."
"She went to lay Wyatt down; why don't you do the same with that thing? You know, stop carrying it around like a backpack?"
CJ rolled her eyes, "I already tried, but he wakes up every time I let him go."
Chris furrowed his brows, crossing his arms over his chest. "Why would he do that?" He asked, his mind racing with thoughts about what the baby was going to turn out like. He was afraid for Wyatt, though he wouldn't admit that he was even slightly fearful that there was a baby demon in his friend's arms.
"Must feel safe around me." She shrugged, her heart stinging as she'd begun to miss someone, approaching the book, "Find anything?"
