Numb ⎥Spencer Hastings
After everything she had been through, Spencer Hastings had realized that she had been through so much in her short life. She had experienced multiple heartbreaks, had her parents not be there for her when she needed them, found out that her boyfriend had been helping the girl that ruined her high school experience, thought her boyfriend had died, stayed in a mental hospital and thought that her best friend had died, only to find out that she was still alive.
Now, it seemed like her life was a never-ending nightmare and she couldn't seem to stop crying. The only thing she wanted at the moment was to be happy because in the long run, that's all that mattered and even if it made her selfish, she kinda deserved it.
She wasn't even sure if anyone else in her life had seemed to notice everything that was happening and how there seemed to be little things in her life that were slowly changing. The way she stayed silent at the lunch table, only talking to the girls when they spoke to her, or how Toby was busy with work and couldn't see her very often, so it was slowly killing her inside. As much as she wanted to, it wasn't like she could really say anything without feeling like a burden or attention-seeking.
However, they did notice. They just knew Spencer and didn't want it to seem like they were prying into her personal life. They wanted the brunette to come to them on her own terms and when she was ready.
That was also the reason why, when Spencer called them up late one Wednesday night, they made no hesitation to plan something with Toby. She was breaking at the seams and even though they should have said something sooner, they were all just glad that she made the decision to tell them "now" rather than "never." Needless to say, she was shocked when the four people she trusted more than anything showed up at her doorstep.
After getting out of the shower, Spencer dressed in a tank top and shorts, throwing her hair up in a braid. She was shocked when she heard someone knocking at her door, especially because she hadn't made any plans. Hesitantly, she headed to the door and was taken by surprise when she saw all her friends and her boyfriend waiting for her. "What are you guys doing here?" It wasn't like she didn't want them to be there. They just usually were never people to show up unannounced.
"We thought we could slumber it," Aria said, a small smile on her face. She was holding a small backpack and was wearing shirt that said "All you need is coffee and mascara" with a pair of black shorts that had coffees on them. Spencer made a mental note to ask her where she got them later.
"If you'll let us," Emily added, a small smile on her lips and it was easy to tell that she was feeling awful about not picking up on the signs earlier. Her hair was messily wavy and she was wearing a "Rosewood Sharks" tank top with sweatpants.
"We haven't done it in ages," the brunette heard Hanna say out of nowhere. She looked at her and a small giggle escape her lips when she realized that her blonde best friend was dressed in a pink bathroom and matching pajamas that would put Sharpay Evans to shame.
"Yeah, of course. You guys can head in, but I have one more thing left to do." Holding the door open, Spencer waited to shut it until she made sure that all the girls were inside. Walking over to Toby, who was hanging out patiently in the background, she felt a small smile make its way to her lips. She wrapped her arms around him and whispered, "Thank you so much for this. I love you."
"I love you too." He quickly pecked her on the lips. "Now go have fun with your friends."
After she shared a couple more moments with Toby, the brunette headed back inside to get the quality time she needed with the people she cared about most in the world.
Despite everything going on in her life, surrounded by her friends, Spencer was able to feel a little less numb.
