Million Reasons ⎥Klaroline

"Caroline, I hate to break it to you, but I can't stay here for very long." Klaus walked closer to her and ran a hand through his hair. "However," he said as he sighed and smoothed out the jeans he was wearing, "I will be back soon. You can keep yourself occupied by spending time with your friends and family and I'll only be a phone call away," he finished, sending a small smile in Caroline's direction. He wasn't good at the whole relationship thing, but he would do anything in his power to make sure that she was happy.

"It doesn't help that you're planning on taking Stefan with you," she answered, looking him up and down and sending a fake glare in his direction. Even though she hadn't seen Stefan in a romantic light in a very long time, especially because he was soulmates with her best friend, he still happened to be her rock.

"I know how much Stefan means to you," he replied, brushing a strand of hair behind her hair, "but I'm sure you'll be fine for a couple days without him." She smiled back at him and nodded slightly, trying to convince herself that what he was saying was true. With a soft sigh escaping her lips, she wrapped her arms around him, finding serenity in his warmth. He always knew just what to say to make her feel better.

"I guess you're right about that," she agreed. Klaus smiled softly and pressed a small kiss to her forehead.

"Love, I want you to remember that even if I'm if I'm gone, my heart is always here with you," he said, slipping his hand into her. Caroline rested her head on his shoulder and he ran his fingers through her hair.

"I don't know if I'm going to be okay without you." She untangled her hand from him and kept them by her sides. She didn't want Klaus to see her so vulnerable. Those thoughts were repeating in her head and probably would be until he came back to her.

"Caroline," he whispered and reached out for her hand once more. "Look at me..." he said, forcing her to do so. "There's no need for you to cry," he said, not sure what he would do if she were to cry. He seemed to have the emotional range of a teaspoon. Everyone he had met seemed to always remind him how heartless and cold he was. However, when it came to Caroline being upset, something in him snapped. He continued to run his fingers through her hair in hopes to comfort her. However, this just seemed to not work out as planned and she began to cry even more. Klaus just continued to hold her, whispering sweet nothings into her ear. He hated seeing her like this. She wanted to savor this moment with him, knowing how much she was going to miss him when he was gone. "Caroline..." he said once more, pulling her closer and wiping her tears away. "I love you and it kills me to see you like this."

"I don't know what I'm going to do without you...I can't..." More tears fell down on her face, so she held onto Klaus tighter. She knew that she probably seemed like a major crybaby by acting like this. Whenever she would try to catch her breath, she would just look up at him and continue to sob. Klaus was still there, doing anything and everything that she needed.

"Love..." he responded, lifting up her chin with his finger and focused on her. "Stefan and I will come back and it will be like we never left, so there's no point in crying. I would never do anything to intentionally hurt you," Klaus said and kissed her cheek.

"But you could go to New Orleans....and meet someone better than me," she said, sniffling and wiping her eyes, hoping that she didn't look like a complete idiot. Klaus was shocked by the words that escaped her mouth. He thought Caroline knew how much he loved her and that there was no one else he would ever want to be with. She had already had her heart broken so much and he wanted to ensure that it would never happen again.

"I would never do that to you," he said, kissing her softly. Caroline smiled, wiping her tears away, along with realizing how stupid she sounded.

"Well...I know you wouldn't...it's the other girls I'm worried about," she replied, laughing a little. "Thank you for...always being there for me. I know I'm not always the best to put up with," she said, causing Klaus to slip his hand back in hers, which she happily tightened her grip on. She really was the happiest she had been in a long time now, but she still wanted to give him a million reasons to stay in Mystic Falls with her. Despite her being okay with the whole long distance thing, it didn't mean that she didn't miss actually having him physically here with her.

"Love, I never have to deal with put up with you," he responded, putting an arm around her, causing her to rest her head on his shoulder. She didn't know that someone could understand her completely and always be there for her. So many of her relationships hadn't put her as their top priority. When it came to Klaus, she never had to worry about being second best. His family treated her like their own and she did the same thing for them.

"Klaus, there are no words to explain how grateful I am to have you in my life. There aren't a lot of people that treat me like a princess," she said and curled a piece of hair with her finger. After a while, she looked back at him with a smile on her face. "After everything I've been through and all of the people I've lost, I'm glad that I finally get to call you my home." Caroline wasn't planning on giving Klaus a speech, but considering how the events of the day had gone, she felt like there was no better time than now to show him how much he truly meant to her once again. Everything about him just felt like he was the right person for her.

"You'll always be my castle too, princess," he answered. Before heading home, Caroline smiled and softly kissed him
