A/N: MAJOR LOVE, SIMON/ SIMON VS THE HOMOSAPIENS AGENDA DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN/READ THE BOOK
"Have I told you how thankful I am that you're going this for me?" Alec asked as his hand grabbed more of the popcorn. Magnus looked lovingly at his boyfriend and intertwined their hands together in the popcorn.
On the rare occasion that the couple wasn't doing anything on this Friday night, Magnus made the decision to see the movie, Love, Simon. Alec was actually okay with. In a way, Alec was Simon and Magnus was his Bram. Smiles seemed to be on both of their faces as they watched the film together.
"Yes, you have ever since I promised that I would take you after you read the book back in August." Alec smiles and Magnus runs a hand through his hair. Not long after his "wedding," Clary had given it to him for moral support. It was one of the few things that made him feel normal and understand. "However, that's okay. I've wanted to see it myself as well."
"Well, I guess we are quite the pair, Mr. Bane." Magnus chuckles, bringing his attention back to the movie.
"That we are, Mr. Lightwood," he whispered. Alec had no one idea how he had gotten so lucky to be loved my someone as much as Magnus loves him. Everything was perfect that night. He was on a perfect date and watching a perfect movie.
Smiling softly, Alec rested his head on Magnus shoulders. He wasn't planning on falling asleep of anything. Who would during a movie this good? He just wanted to show Magnus how deeply he was loved and was desperate for his touch. Magnus took this as an opportunity to run his fingers through his boyfriend's hair. "I love you." Magnus smiled warmly in his direction.
"I love you too," Alec replies, smirking at the people in front of them that look back and mouth 'aww.' "Look's like we have fans?"
"From what I've heard from Isabelle, she refers to it as shipping?" Magnus asked.
"Of course she would." Alec rolls his eyes. The Shadowhunter loves his sister to death, but she spends too much time poking into another people's relationships.
"Don't get too mad at her. Somebody had to push us together. This technically wouldn't be happening if she hadn't invented me." Alec realized how right he was about that and made a mental note to once again thank her for everything she's done for him.
"You got me there," Alec said. He shook his head in disgust, imagining what his life would've been like if he married Lydia.
Magnus caught the look of sadness that showed up on Alec's face and was pretty positive about what was going on in his head. "Hey," he whispered and forced the raven-haired boy to look him in the eyes. "I'm with you. We're together now. That's all that matters." Magnus softly kissed him on the lips. "Now, let's get back to the movie."
Nodding, Alec wiped the tears that seemed to be flowing from his eyes. He didn't know if it was because of Magnus' sweet words or the movie was hitting too close to home, but it was probably a combination of both. They were tears he wasn't afraid to shed because they meant the best thing possible: his happiness.
The scene where Simon was talking to his mom on the couch resinated with him deeper than anything else seemed to up to that point in the film and he had to grip Magnus' hand tightly to keep himself from falling apart. Just like in this moment, the warlock was his anchor. The one person that he would be able to go to with anything and his safe place to land.
Magnus must've felt the same way because he gripped Alec's hand with an equal amount of force. A sob escaped the Lightwood's boy's throat and the warlock turned his head to wipe away the tears that were falling down his boyfriend's at a rapid rate. They both smiled and realized just how much they both loved each other.
The two had enjoyed the movie, as well as each other's presence. That night seemed to be everything thy needed to get away from how hectic their lives had been recently. Alec was busy training people at the Institute and Magnus had been monitoring the Downworld more than usual. A couple hours just to themselves was exactly what they both needed. This was probably one of the best dates they had gone on.
The carnival scene was approaching and Magnus bit down on his bottom lip. He had something planned for tonight, but he wasn't sure if this would be the right place or time. However, he wasn't really the type of person to do anything in a typical fashion. Smiling, the warlock seemed to mimic Bram and Simon's kiss with his boyfriend.
Resting his head back on Alec's shoulder, he sighed happily and continued to watch the movie with a blissful smile permanently on his lips. The raven-haired boy looks over at him, his lips curved up as well. "Someone's in a good mood," he mused, watching the movie start to come to an end and frown as the credits began to roll. There wasn't a lot of movies that he would have wanted to go on forever, but this was an exception.
"Your happiness is a part of my happiness," Magnus said softly, fingering the soft velvet box that was currently in his pocket. "Now, if you guys don't mind, I have a very important announcement to make. I've always been one to make large gestures and this is no exception," Alec said, shaking lightly. "I remember not that long after I met you, I said that 'it was very rare to find a Shadowhunter with such an open heart.' Throughout the years, you've continued to open your heart to me and because of that, I've fallen in love with you even more every day. You are probably the bravest man I've ever met because you've put everything on the line for our relationship. I am the luckiest person alive to be loved by you. I want to continuing loving you and be loved by you for the rest of our lives. I guess what I'm trying to say is, Alec Gideon Lightwood, will you marry me?"
"Magnus Bane, if you thought that I would have any other answer than yes, you are crazier than I ever thought you were," he said, smirking. "In all seriousness, though, I would love to marry you and there is no one else that means as much to me as you do. I can't wait to be your husband and for the two of us to spend the rest of our lives together," Alec said, his facial features brighter than they had ever been in a long time.
Once the words left the words, Magnus felt the happiest he ever had in hundreds of years. Taking one step closer, Magnus slipped the ring onto his now fiancee's finger and kissed him deeply on the lips. "I love you, Alec Lightwood."
"I love you too, Magnus Bane," he whispered against his lips as they began to pull apart. Turning around, the two saw that everyone in there was applauding them and had huge smiles on their faces. As the people began to leave, they stopped by Alec and Magnus, congratulating them and wishing them well as a couple.
Together, they were dust and gold.
