„WHAT do you mean with ‚she's not here'?" Lee Donghyuck looked from the sunflower he just bought to Park Chanyeol, who just sold said sunflower to the young man. „I mean it, as I said it. Mira is not here." A sigh left the older males lip and Donghyuck furrowed his eyebrows and turned to Huang Renjun, who was standing on the Patio of S&C꽃.
„Listen, kid", Chanyeol lifted his hands. „Mira's sick. She called this morning and honestly, she didn't sound too well." Donghyuck nodded at Chanyeol's words. „I'm confused", the younger male confessed and felt a presence behind him. Renjun was standing behind him. „Everything alright?", the Chinese lad asked and Donghyuck shook his head.
„She called in sick... and didn't tell me..." Donghyuck held the sunflower in his hand. Confusion was written all over his face. Chanyeol blinked. „Wait, you're the kid that likes Mira, right? The one she went to the Ansan Flower festival two days ago? Dongsoo, right?" - „It's Donghyuck though. But yes, I am that kid." He rolled his eyes at the beagle-y florist and looked at Renjun.
„Did Mira-sshi say what she has?" At Renjun's question, Chanyeol shook his head. „My buddy Sehun", he pointed to the back room of the shop, „is trying to get ahold of her. But she's not picking up the phone so we're trying to call her school. It's unusual for her to be sick. We're kinda worried." Chanyeol sounded sad and Donghyuck nodded.
„But why didn't she call me... ever since our date she didn't reach out to me at all. And she left me on read yesterday." Donghyuck looked at Renjun. „That's probably my fault, cause I called you back to Seoul." He said, his face wincing. Dongyhuck shook his head. „No, no. She was pretty alright with that... at least I hope so." Donghyuck turned back to Chanyeol and bowed. „Thank you for the flower anyways..." He left the flower shop, his head hanging low.
Renjun quickly said goodbye to the florist and ran after his best friend. „Hyuck, wait for me." Donghyuck was already climbing the hill back to their university. Renjun caught up with him and threw his arm around his shoulder. „Maybe you should try and call her. Maybe she's feeling better after hearing your voice." Renjun said and Donghyuck nodded and looked at the sunflower. „I really wanted to apologize for disappearing though." He shook his head and walked over the campus of his university. Renjun right behind me.
„She'll understand. She was understanding enough, right?" He asked and Donghyuck nodded and sat down at a bench in front of the Music department of their university. He laid the sunflower between him and Renjun and grabbed his phone.
He quickly searched his contacts and clicked on Mira's name. A deep breath later, he put the phone on his ear and listened to it's ringing. It rang once, twice and the voicemail rang in his ears. Donghyuck sighed.
Mira looked at her phone. It was on the edge of her nightstand in her bedroom of her parent's house. It rang once and moved closer to the edge, it rang twice and bang! fell on the floor. Mira looked at it and turned in her bed—pulling the quilt all over her face.
She was freezing and felt like vomiting. Her hands were shaking and her fingertips were blue. But Mira couldn't feel it; honestly, Mira couldn't feel anything except confusion and pain.
She ruined her sister's life. She was sure of it. She was the reason Nara couldn't be happy. She was the reason that Chanyeol wasn't single and ready to date Nara. Mira was at fault for making her sister unhappy.
The climax of their fight was bound to happen. And yesterday, it exploded. Why did she even dare to tell Nara that she wasn't happy about her flirting with Chanyeol? How stupid of her. Nara deserved the world and more. She deserved beautiful boys that would melt at everything she said. Nara deserved having an understanding and caring best friend like Son Gaeul. Nara deserved getting pocket money while Nara had to work to get at least a little bit of money.
Deep down, she knew it was unfair. Mira knew it was unfair of the world, for favouring Nara. But maybe that's just how it should be. Mira would always be the second-best. The second child. The child that disappointed her parents. The child that ruined her sister's life.
Maybe Mira wasn't supposed to be in this family. Maybe she deserved to rot in hell. Yes, yes Mira knew she should rot in hell. Nara had only been like this because Mira had been horrible to her. Mira had broken Nara's heart.
Mira's lip was shivering and she pressed her eyes together. She pressed her hands over her ears in order to quiet the thoughts that were running through her head. She heard her phone vibrate on the floor, but she couldn't react.
She hated this. She hated this. She hated herself so much. Mira was a nuisance. She was stupid. She was a disappointment. She was worthless.
Mira wrapped herself in her blanket and closed her eyes. Afraid the waterfall of tears would spill. She wasn't allowed to cry. She was the bad man after all. It was her fault Nara hated her life.
„I shouldn't have been born in the first place", Mira quietly mumbled when she heard her mothers voice from the door. „Mira, your dad and I are going out for a bit. Nara invited us to her presentation. We'll be late." Mira heard her mother walk away and peeked from under the blanket.
They were going to see Nara. They loved Nara enough to drive all the way to Yongsan just for a presentation. But they didn't drive that far to see Mira's first flower gallery.
Mira had enough of holding back. The tears started dripping down her face. She looked at the door. „I... I don't need your love", she whispered. „I know you hate me, Mum... I know you hate me, Dad... I know I'm at fault for ruining your daughter Nara. And I'm sorry... you... you..." Tears were flooding Mira's hands, as she sat up in her bed.
She was having a mental breakdown. She couldn't hold it in anymore. It had been years since Mira's last mental breakdown. She had fought against these demons in her head. But the fight with Nara last night had given her the last push.
She had enough. Mira had enough of being the bad guy. She had enough of ruining Nara's life. She had enough of ruining her parent's life. She probably ruined Chanyeol and Sehun's life as well.
She probably ruined Donghyuck's life too... „Donghyuck", a gasp left Mira's lips. Her crush... the guy she liked... Mira pressed her hands over her mouth. „I'm so-sorry", she whispered and broke down between her bedsheets. „I'm so sorry for being a life ruiner."
