THE first ten sprints from the university gates to the little flower shop down the road were easy. Donghyuck took them with ease—being confident enough to send Doyoung a cocky grin. He swept his hair away when he turned around to run down again.
Dongyhuck was agile and quick... the only problem was his stamina. Similar to his academic attention, his stamina when doing physical labour was zero to almost none existent. Donghyuck could talk hours about Michael Jackson and Queen's best hits, but couldn't walk fifty meters to the closest convenience store to get his favourite pineapple milk without complaining.
So when Donghyuck yelled towards Doyoung, that he was acing this, something bad had to happen. Doyoung watched Donghyuck run down the street, he was almost by the flower shop when he saw the ginger boy sway from left to right. „What is he doing?" Doyoung asked and leaned forward to watch Donghyuck.
The way his body moved looks like he was drunk and on his way home from a wild outing with his friends. Donghyuck almost tumbled over his own feet when all of a sudden he landed face-first right in front of the flower shop and laid there.
„Did... Did he faint?" Doyoung asked himself and waited a hot second for Donghyuck to stand up, but the nineteen-year-old didn't move. „Holy shit! He fainted!" Doyoung yelled out and sprinted down the street to Donghyuck.
But someone beat him to it.
When Mira arrived at her workplace this morning and helped her boss Oh Sehun organize the new shipment of flowers, she didn't know her day would take a weird turn.
She happily gazed at the new Sunflowers and gently touched their bright and yellow blossoms, sighing happily.
Sehun walked past her, a pencil stuck behind his left ear, and a clipboard under his left arm. He took a look at the teenager and chuckled. „You look like you're in love with them, " he said with a smile and leaned back at the wall behind him.
„O-Oppa!" Mira yelped, surprised by her friendly boss' comment. Sehun chuckled once more pulling the clipboard from under his arm.
„Sorry to disturb you and your girlfriends' little banter, " he said, serious but with an amused tone in his voice. „But I have a few orders for you to finish." He handed Mira the clipboard and the trainee scanned the list with her eyes.
„Oppa, this is a quite difficult bouquet..." she whispered and Sehun only shook his shoulders. „Your mock-exams are coming up, so I thought it'd be a good practice. We don't want to disappoint your teacher when he comes to visit you at work, right?" He said and gently nudged Mira's shoulder before walking back into the office in the back of the store.
Mira pouted.
She loved arranging flowers, but she was someone who learned by watching. The client's task this time was something Mira had never done by herself. The fear of doing it wrong was way too big.
With a prominent pout on her face, she walked into the main room of the flower shop and looked for her red-headed boss. Chanyeol would—hopefully—be eager to help. She looked around and behind the front desk, but there was no sign of the twenty-seven-year-old.
„Of course!" Mira said and threw her hands in the air. „Sehun-oppa wouldn't let Chanyeol help me." The brunette lass rolled her eyes and looked around the shop.
„A bouquet for the cemetery" Mira sighed once more—hoping her two bosses would hear her and come to her rescue. But none of them appeared. „Calm down, Noh Mira. You can do it." She closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
She slowly opened her eyes again and read the description the client had left for S&C Flowers. The client wanted a bouquet to add to their best friends grave. The friend was an outdoor person and loved being in the nature. They were friendly, humble and funny.
„A pink rose for the friendship aspect" Mari mumbled and laid the clipboard on the desk before buzzing through the room. The pink roses were kept in a basket in the back of the room.
Mira ran back and forth, to the front of the store and the back until she stared at the tiny, yet fresh and elegant looking bouquet. „Something's missing, " she said and tilted her head. She thought about the client's words for a while until an idea popped in her head. „Chanyeol-oppa said they meant healing" With the bouquet in her right hand Mira left the shop to take a look at the baskets of peonies in the front of the store. Her bouquet was pink and white and the pink peonies would look just right in the bouquet.
Just as Mira wanted to grab two medium-sized peonies she heard a thud and turned around. She widened her eyes in shock as she saw a young man in tight denim pants and a black hoodie run down the hill to her right and faint right in front of her.
„Oh my god!" Mira let out and quickly entered the flower shop to drop the half-done bouquet on the front desk before rushing over to the man.
His forehead was covered in sweat and his ginger-coloured hair was sticking to his forehead. Mira gently turned his head, so he wouldn't choke on his own tongue and checked his pulse.
Just as she wanted to call for Chanyeol and Sehun a slender man appeared by her side, pulling the young man away from her grasp. „Donghyuck!" The man called and gently slapped the youngers cheek. „Ya! Lee Donghyuck!" The man called again and shook the man.
„Excuse me" Mira butted in, shocked at the violent way of helping the fainted man. „I don't think to shake him would help." She quietly mumbled. The man turned to her and looked at her from his big brown eyes.
„How about you call an ambulance instead of lecturing me? I'm an assistant of his teacher, I know what to do!" The man with the bunny teeth screeched and Mira pouted. She wanted to answer something sassy, but she was out of words so she entered the flower shop and went to the phone when Chanyeol came back from the office. One look at Mira and he knew something bad had happened.
„Mira-yah? What's wrong?" He asked and Mira explained that a boy had fainted right in front of their store and that a rude man with bunny teeth had screamed at her to get an ambulance.
„Did you put him in a stable lateral position?" Chanyeol asked while walking to the front door of the flower shop. „I did!" Mira yelled and called the ambulance, telling them what happened before rushing back outside, only to see bunny teeth arguing with Chanyeol.
„I'm his teacher!" Bunny teeth said, eyes as big as plates. „Well the assistant of his teacher, I can handle it!" - „Sir, you're obviously in a state of panic and I know first aid techniques so would you please let me help? We already called an ambulance." Chanyeol's voice was calm while he leaned down to the boy.
Mira watched over Chanyeol's back, what the older male was doing. Chanyeol checked the boy's pulse—just as she did before bunny teeth interfered and panicked. Then Chanyeol laid the back of his hand against the boy's forehead. „His temperature is high." Chanyeol looked at the boy's clothes. „What happened?" He asked towards bunny teeth who awkwardly stepped from one foot to the other.
„My Sunbae punished him by running to the flower shop and back to the school's gates thirty times." Bunny teeth confessed while the sound of the ambulance rang in the distance. „The ambulance is coming, lead them here, " Chanyeol said towards Mira who nodded and rand to the crossroad. She could see the ambulance and waved them. The car parked right before the flower shop and the paramedics immediately ran over to check on the boy.
Mira and Chanyeol stood next to each other, looking at the paramedic's work. The boy slowly opened his eyes, once an IV-drop was attached to his arm. The paramedics asked him some question before driving off with the boy and bunny teeth.
Mira still stared into the distance where the ambulance had disappeared. „Why would someone run this hill thirty times?" Chanyeol asked while looking to the hill to their left. „This teacher must be insane." Mira nodded when she remembered her bouquet.
„The peonies!" She called out and ran into the flower shop to finish her task.
