「Chapter Thirty-Three」

what goes up,
must come down

Preferring not to say a single word, the two friends remain silent on the way to the wedding.

Hoseok is still covering his wounded hand with the towel as he is looking out at the street filled with people through the car window.

Namjoon is driving with high speed, trying his best to focus on the road, but he can not stop being worried about his friend who is sitting right beside him, so he questions, "Are you okay, buddy?"

Deciding not to reply, Hoseok coughs, and soon his mouth is full of blood.

"You don't seem alright, and—"

"Pull over." He cuts his friend off.

When the car stops, he gets out of the car quickly, and spits blood on the ground.

Namjoon holds his hands on the steering wheel, and closes his eyes, tightly. Deep inside, he knows that something is not just right, but he can not prove it, yet.

"Drive." The boy demands once he enters the car.

"Are you sure everything is fine?" He questions as he is seeking for an honest answer, unaware of what is going to happen to his one and only friend.

The boy fakes a smile, and nods, slightly.

They both get out of the car once it stops, and start running towards the wedding.

Hoseok hopes to see Yoongi for the last time, or at least, he hopes to talk to him in order to stop him if it is possible.

He runs up the stairs, but all of a sudden, he freezes in his spot.

Seeing her in the white wedding dress, and seeing the young man holding her hands tightly, brings water into his eyes.

That wedding dress seems too familiar to him. He is sure that he has seen it somewhere before, but he can not recall it very well.

The stars of his eyes blink as he watches her carefully, jealous of her shine, not knowing whether this is a dream or it is all real.

[Three years ago]

"I want... that one!" She points her finger at a wedding dress as she is holding onto his boyfriend's left arm, tightly.

"But that one is too expensive, Jihyun," He turns his face to the left in order to look into her eyes. "You know that I can't buy it for you if you really want to marry me."

She lets go of his arm, and crosses her own arms. "I don't even know why I am wasting my time by being your girlfriend."

Ashamed, he looks down at his shoes, and rubs the back of his neck. "I'm sorry for not being the one that you've always dreamed of." He says, and turns his back on her to leave, but she grips his wrist.

"Ah, Hoseok, I was just... kidding."

"No, you were not kidding. You were serious."

"Why do you even care?"

"Because I love you."

They both smile at each other, and it does not take much time for them to burst into laughter.

He grabs her into a hug, and leaves a kiss on her forehead before saying, "I promise to buy that dress for you someday."

[Present day]

Now, he remembers.

He wishes that he could turn back the clock to start it all over, to make it new again, but once the journey has begun, there is no going back.

Suddenly, he returns to the reality that he has been staring at them for too long.

"Yoongi, do you take Jun Jihyun to be your lawfully wedded wife?"
