(PART 1) Chapter 8: Send in the Clowns
SO remember that diagram I made for the last chapter?
Well this is another one of those colored points to get to point B.
This chapter is aptly named thanks to a friend of mine.
Once again, this is filler, barely mentioning Y/N, more so building up the relationships between the guys.

The palace was quiet.
Too quiet.
At least, too quiet for a certain raven haired man and his dirty blonde haired companions likings.
In the few days that they had known each other, Taehyung and Jimin became thick as thieves, almost taking that turn of phrase literally. They had shared every secret they had with each other. They had already planned to build a tunnel underneath their rooms to connect them so they could sneak off to the others room whenever they wanted.
That was kind of what the two were doing.
They were currently trying to sneak into the gardens to see if there were shovels strong enough to make a dent in the palace floors.
They didn't really consider that the gardeners may need to use the shovels for... Y'know, gardening reasons. Neither of the two were well versed enough in gardening to know exactly what shovels were needed for other than digging tunnels.
So when they entered the garden and saw the gardeners digging holes to plant trees, their hearts sunk into their stomachs a little. The two were so focused on their mission that they had no idea what would happen if they failed.
One of the gardeners looked over their shoulder then straightened up to focus his gaze on the two men standing in the entryway.
"How may I help you gentlemen?" His soft voiced, laced with ages of stories and adventure, asked.
Taehyung cleared his throat while Jimin focused on his worn out shoes.
"We were... Uh... Looking for shovel-"
"ADMIRING THE FLOWERS!" Jimin shouted before his younger counterpart could finish talking, slapping a hand across the others mouth. "The roses here are lovely and are those... Hydrangeas? Those aren't native to South Korea are they?" Jimin asked, tentatively striking up conversation with the old gardener so the older man doesn't feel like he wasted his time to talk to them.
"They are, actually," the old man mused, a finger to his chin as his eyes smiled at the two younger men. "In fact, they're quite common in most parts of the world." Jimin nodded and Taehyung mimicked the others movements kind of robotically.
"Really? Tell me more," Jimin said, genuinely very curious. The old man chuckled.
"Glad to see such handsome suitors such as yourself taking such an interest in flowers. I'm sure your future wives would be very happy," Jimin and Tae looked at each other and raised their eyebrows at that. "Come here, let me show you."
The two followed the older man into a deeper part of the garden, walking past other gardeners with their heads down, focused deeply on their work. One younger lady looked up and made eye contact with Tae before blushing and looking away.
The elder gardener led them to an arrangement of beautiful hydrangeas, all of a different color.
"Those ones," the gardener pointed at the blue ones, "have some very special meanings here. All the different colors do." The two young men nodded. "The blue ones, in some places, mean the person giving them is sorry, is apologetic and remorseful. In Japan, many decades ago, an Emperor had been neglecting a woman he was deeply enamored with in favor of his duties. This angered her so he gave her a bouquet of these blue hydrangeas as an apology and to show her how much she mattered to him. It's an adorable story, isn't it?" The youngsters nodded again. "Here in the palace, Y/N and Yoongis great grandfather gave his wife a bouquet of these exact flowers here to say 'you are as important to me as the air I breathe, the beat of my heart.' And that tradition carried on ever since. Isn't that lovely?" Jimin had a really fond smile on his face, absolutely loving the romantic side of it. Tae just nodded, mostly fascinated with the color of the flowers themselves.
"Do you think, sir?" Tae piped up softly before he cleared his throat. "Do you think we could give flowers our own meanings?" The older man rested his hand on his chin and nodded.
"Why, of course! That's what I think is lovely about the love languages of flowers, they have universal meanings that can change depending on the accompanying flowers," he said and Jimin never lost that swooning look.
"Wow, the languages of flowers are so romantic! Don't you think, Tae Tae?" Jimin fawned, squishing Taehyungs cheeks with the palms of his hands. Tae tried to escape the slightly older mans grasp but it was a fruitless endeavor as Jimin kept his face held tightly in his hands.
The older man watched the twos antics with fondness in his eyes.
"Those two... Now that's a close friendship," he sighed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
No more peace. Time for chaos.
The two were currently dragging a disgruntled Namjoon up a flight of stairs, then another, then another.
Up, up, then up some more.
"Guys... Where are we going?" Heights make Namjoon a bit uneasy, not as much of a thrill seeker than the other two apparently. Jimin just giggled and Tae smirked in response to the older mans question.
The two had found a very interesting thing that had piqued their curiosity one day. It became their mission to bring as many people to the thing as possible.
What was this very interesting thing that everyone had to experience at least once in their lives?
A rooftop swing.
There was a swing that was attached to a large trellis on a patio overlooking the village. There was plenty of room to be pushed back and forth, considering the swing itself looked like if you pushed it hard enough you could jump into the village below.
Namjoon swallowed a lump growing in his throat.
"Guys, this isn't... It's not... It's dangerous," Namjoon couldn't actually form a sentence properly so he resorted to stuttering out words that tried to properly convey what he wanted to say. He thinks it worked.
"Oh come on, Joonie! Don't be a spoil sport!" Jimin took his left hand and dragged him closer towards the swing.
"No. No no no no. This isn't okay, this can't be, it's not," The oldest couldn't stop stuttering it seemed.
"Hyung, it's fine! We tested it ourselves, it's very safe," Jimin and Taehyung nodded at the same time. That made Namjoon shudder.
"Okay just because you both did it doesn't mean I trust this, in fact, I think I trust it less," Joons ramblings made the other two laugh.
"If it makes you feel better, you can watch Tae or I go first," Jimin said and that seemed to relax the older man a bit.
Tae jumped at the idea of getting to go on the big swing again and ran towards it.
"I'll go first! Minnie, push me!" Tae sat down on the seat and sort of bounced up and down.
"See? Your little brother likes it," Jimin mused and Namjoon nodded sagely.
"Taehyung likes anything with a hint of danger in it," the older brother replied and the raven haired man burst out laughing.
Jimin moved behind Taehyung and grabbed the chains holding the swing to its post. Jimin ran backwards a bit before letting Taehyung go. Namjoon lurched forward a bit, terrified that something could go wrong.
Nothing went wrong.
Taehyung went swinging forward then boomeranged back with the same momentum he had when he went forward. Tae let out a shout of joy and laughter as he went backwards, Jimin pushing him forward again. Namjoons head followed every back and forth movement, watching and listening closely to make sure nothing broke. Everything stayed in place. The tension left Namjoons body as quickly as it came. Once he saw his little brother having fun, he allowed himself to rest a little. Tae was in good hands too, Jimin was doing a great job pushing him back and forth.
Soon after, Tae was asking to get down to let his older brother have a try.
"Do you want to give it a try, hyung?" Tae asked, taking his older brothers hands in his own.
Namjoon considered it for a moment.
On the one hand, it seemed safe enough. On the other hand...
Hand of Minus. (A/N: Okay, I thought the interview where he was trying to describe this is super cute but basically he destroys things on accident and loses a lot of stuff. Hence, hand of minus. This man was my first bias and I still love him.)
Swallowing his fears before he could say no and lose the opportunity to do something he may never ever get to do again...
"Alright, I will," Namjoon said, stepping towards the swing, losing his brave resolve with every step. Tae and Jimin both followed him and watched as the eldest got settled on the swing.
"We'll push you gently and low at first, let us know if you want to go higher," Jimin stated and the two started pushing.
Namjoon tightened his grip on the chains, still feeling a little scared.
But it was... Nice. The gentle breeze blowing through his hair. The sound of birds and the villagers below combining into a soothing melody.
"Push me higher, please," the boys obliged. The feeling was scary at first. His stomach rose and dropped like riding a rickety cart down a fast hill then riding back up. Yet he was addicted to that feeling. The breeze blew a little bit stronger, the range of the view he had over the landscape expanded. He almost giggled like a child.
"Higher please," he asked again and the other two chuckled and pushed him even higher. He shouted a bit in surprise at how high he was.
Then, everything stopped.
The mid day sun on his skin felt so nice. The soft breeze pushing his hair away from his face allowed him to see better. And the view...
The view!
He had completely flown passed the patio, his legs dangling over the hedge wall separating the castle from the village near it. The trees growing high into the sky, almost as tall as he was now. The blooming flowers underneath his feet in gentle patterns. Looking over the hedge, the village bustling with life.
Namjoon felt like he was flying.
And in a way, he was.
He laughed, a genuine belly laugh, as time still felt frozen for him. If this was living life on the edge, he needed to do that a lot more.
Time restarted for him as he went boomeranging backwards, back towards planet Earth.
"Okay I'm done!" Namjoon shouted over the wind, hoping the boys would hear them and they did, grabbing the chains as he headed back towards the patio. Namjoon stumbled his way off the swing, unable to regain his land legs for a little while.
"How was it, hyung?" Tae asked and his older brother could barely register it in his brain.
"That was... Awesome! I would consider doing that again," he said, barely able to contain his wobbly energy.
"So I would consider today a success?" Jimin and Tae high fived.
"A success indeed," Namjoon nodded with a large smile.
