(PART 1) Chapter 4: Maybe you're not so bad

Okay so lemme tell you exactly how this book came into existence.

I have a very vivid imagination, thanks CPTSD. And I thought about this idea, very bare bones like, and decided why not write it. But who do I include?

Then I started missing Kim Seokjin again. So here we are.

You had no idea what lessons with Seokjin would mean and, in all fairness, neither did he.

That's what led to your current positions.

You were slouched against a table, your body loose, almost like rubber with how you've splayed yourself ungracefully across. You had a very casual expression on your face as though you knew exactly what you were doing and didn't care about your position.

Seokjin was sat across from you, his elbow on the table and pinching the bridge of his nose. He has no idea how to go about fixing your posture. Doesn't help that you look like you won't listen to a word he'd say anyway regarding it.

He signed, deciding to say something.

"You do realize that your posture is unbecoming of the future head of the kingdom, yes?" Seokjin leaned back, removing his elbow from the table.

"Yeah, and?" You nodded curtly, the man across from you getting a feel of how lessons will go.

"Well, first of all, if you're having some royal get together of some kind, if whomever you're dining with sees you like that they would be quite put off," you scoffed at his statement and somehow made your posture worse, if that was even possible. "Second, having such horrible posture will hurt your body when you get older. How old are you now?"

You scoffed again.

"I see my father didn't even give you that very basic information. I'm 28," you said and he nodded.

"I'm 31 myself, I've seen people younger than us both who have bad posture who's backs freeze up every now and again," Seokjin said sagely and your eyes widened a bit.

"Damn, sucks for them," you retorted and smirked a bit.

"Third of all, your language. That's not how you speak when you are a royal! Other royals would be terrified of speaking to you, you know," the brunette leaned in with a slightly miffed expression.

"And what if I don't want impress other royals, hm? What if I want them to kiss. My. Ass?" You leaned in towards him with a smug look on your face and he didn't know what to do. "How do you know so much about what royalty wants anyway? You aren't a prince or something, are you?"

Seokjin leaned back and covered his mouth with his hand. He contemplated his next move. Thinking, he knew exactly what to do next.

"Well, no. Though I always thought I wanted to be one. I would read books, so many books, as a kid. Books about princes who would rescue princesses from dragons locked away in towers that reached the sky," he noticed how you sat up straighter and leaned in a bit closer to him, his plan working. "Stories of princes who would do anything to save the woman they loved from any kind of danger. I would read those ones to my brothers. They were just as hopelessly romantic as I am. But my favorite," and he leaned in towards you at this, "was this book that was awfully domestic. A person of royal status fell in love with a commoner. How cliché, right? But the book talked about how the royal ran away with the commoner after being wed. It regaled of how the royal and commoner would cook together, how they planted a lush garden for all the people in the village to partake in, how they would read stories and raise the village children who were without parents. That was my favorite story. It felt so real, like it could happen to anyone. Like it could be my life someday." You had fully sat at attention, enraptured in his story. He smiled, knowing you enjoyed his storytelling and that his plan worked. "I always dreamed it would."

"What did you want to be when you grew up, besides a prince?" You asked the brunette across from you and he chuckled.

"I wanted to be a bard. Music runs in my family, my parents were very musical. My brothers are as well. My younger brother, Namjoon, he's a lyrical genius. He could wax poetic about the most boring of things. He could turn dirt into precious diamonds just with spoken word alone. In the same vein, he could bring the most egotistical person down many notches until they felt like a worm in the sand. My baby brother, Taehyung, loves instruments. He also has a lovely baritone voice. The three of us would perform sometimes, songs Joon wrote. But sometimes, dreams aren't meant for everyone. So I became a literary. Teaching children in the village square how to read, spell, do math. I would get good money for it, enough to afford food for my brothers and I, at least." You felt tears prickling in the corners of your eyes. So this is the struggle behind the handsome man in front of you.

"And now? Without you, where are your brothers?" You asked softly, as though raising your voice above a whisper would break the brunette.

"Oh they're doing fine, I hope. I know those two. They've surely gotten themselves into some kind of harmless mischief. More like, Tae has and Namjoon was just dragged along because he's older and more responsible by proxy," Jin chuckled and you did the same.

"Can we go see them? I'm sure they'd like to know you're alright," you mused, running a hand through your hair.

"Are- Are you allowed to leave the palace? Even if so, I'm sure they're okay," Seokjin stuttered.

"Well... Not exactly BUT I don't care. If it'll make you happy we're gonna do it. Plus, Yoongi will always cover for me. I sneak out all the time," you grabbed the older mans hand and led him to the window of the room you were occupying.

"W-w-w-wait, we're climbing out the window?!"

"Uh, duh. Me leaving through the front doors would absolutely alert some guards and my father. So window it is!" You exclaimed, unlatching the window and stepping onto the trellis.

"We- We aren't- Not too high up, are we?" Jin asked, absolutely terrified. You turned and smirked at him.

"Awwww, is the baby afraid of heights?" The man in front of you shook his head. You knew he was lying. "Well, if you want to impress me," you sauntered up so you were very close to his face, "then do this with me." You held a sly smile on your face that Seokjin found quite intimidating but attractive at the same time.

Winking at him, you turned around and propelled yourself off the trellis. He shrieked as you fell maybe two feet onto the ground.

"Hey! Don't do it like that next time!" Seokjin yelled after you as he shakily tried to climb over the same trellis you so easily jumped over.

"Too slow, old man!" You shouted behind you and cackled when he yelled in frustration at you.

"I'm only 3 years older than you, you punk!"

The two of you arrived in the village square before you knew it. You heard a squeal and before you could guess what was happening, a pair of arms was wrapped around you, spinning you around in circles.

"Hi, Jimin!" You giggled as he let you down, slightly dizzy from how many times he spun you both around.

"Hello, hello, little sparrow! What brings you to our humble little village?" The raven haired man asked, mockingly bowing at you to which you returned an overdramatic curtsey. "And who is this hunk with you?" Jimin sauntered up to Jin, eyeing him up and down with a smirk.

"Jimin, this is my etiquette tutor, Seokjin. Seokjin, my musical friend Jimin," you introduced them to each other and Jimins smirk only grew wider.

"An etiquette tutor, huh? Bet that's not the only thing he teaches you, right, little sparrow?" He joked with mirth in his eyes. Seokjins blush reached his ears and neck.

"Aish, stop being thirsty, we just met yesterday. Plus, your heart still belongs to my brother so stop eyeing him like a piece of meat," you whacked Jimin on the back and he dramatically stumbled around.

"Fine, fine, but you better tap that fine ass sooner rather than later," Jimin blew Seokjin a kiss and if the brunette could go any redder he would've.

Jimin returned to your side and hooked his arm around your waist.

"You never answered my question! What brings you here?" The younger man whined and tugged the two of you around.

"We're here to find his brothers. They're both also musical so if you recognize the last name Kim then-"

"THE Kim Brothers? Like Kim Namjoon and Kim Taehyung levels of Kim brothers?" Jimin gawked at you knowing people of such high status in the common world.

Jin cleared his throat and nodded.

"Yes, those are my younger brothers."

Jimin whistled lowly.

"Daaaaaamn, looks run in the family, the same way talent does. I can help you find them, for a fee of course," the man holding your waist wiggled his eyebrows at you and you rolled your eyes at him before kissing his nose. "Much better. Kim brothers, here we come!" Jimin started skipping forward, still attached to your hip while Jin trailed behind you two.

The sound of music filled your ears and you smiled. It was a soothing melody being played on a lute and a set of soft percussion. Jimin swayed you and him back and forth while Jin bobbed his head to the music. Suddenly two harmonizing voices chimed in.

A low baritone and a slightly higher bass sang a melody that sounded so different from what was being played. The vocal parts sounded sad and longing. You almost were brought to tears. What did bring you to tears was Seokjin adding in a third harmony, higher than the two voices. The musicians eyes widened but kept playing.

Once the song had ended, a really soft, deep voice rang out.

"...Hyung?" The voice sounded shaky, almost on the verge of tears.

"Tae Tae," Jin responded and the speaker of the voice dropped the instrument and immediately rushed at the brunette, holding him tightly and sobbing.

"Joonie hyung, it's Jinnie!" Tae Tae, you gathered, shouted from his eldest brothers arms. The other brother, Joonie you guessed, slowly walked over to your group.

"Seokjin hyung, is that you? I thought you were at the castle," Joonie said with a gentle, almost raspy voice. Jin nodded while rubbing the youngest mans back who was still clinging to him and crying.

"I was. But this one decided to break out and visit you guys," the oldest pointed at you and the other two's eyes immediately widened, dropping to the floor and bowing to you.

"No no no, no need to bow. This makes me feel awkward, please get up. Please," Joonie and Tae Tae got up from the ground but still kept their heads bowed. "Uh, guys, you can look at me." They met your eyes.

Much like their brother, they were both quite handsome. Namjoon more in the literary way and Taehyung in the adorable way. Not only that, they are amazing musicians just as their oldest brother described. And Seokjin can sing too! Maybe you can sneak the group and Jimin into the palace and have them be the palace musicians...

Convincing your father would be a problem but your mother...

Anyway, back to the present.

Tae Tae had noticed Jimin holding you around your hip and moved to latch onto you as well with a questioning gaze. Jin noticed and chuckled at him.

"Be careful, Y/N. Taehyung is a hugger," the brunette warned you. You saw the lighter chestnut haired mans gaze on you and you nodded, opening up your other arm for him. He clung right to you.

"Tae, don't you feel ashamed hugging royalty like that?" Namjoon asked and you felt Taehyung shake his head against your neck. You giggled.

"It's okay, Joonie. So is Jimin," you nodded your head towards the younger man on your right side and Jimin huffed. "And he is also a huge fan of yours." Jimin groaned, hiding his face in your neck. You cackled at him.

"Well, that's interesting, because we're big fans of his too," Namjoon said confidently and Jimin groaned louder.

"AISH. Please don't tell me my idols idolize me. Please tell me this is a dream. Pinch me, sparrow," Jimin pulled away from you and held his arm out for you to pinch him. You did.

"OW!" He recoiled in a lot of pain while you cackled at him again.

"It's true. If you're ever down, we'd love to perform a song with you sometime."

I know I'm leaving it here but I have **PLANS** for the next chapter and it's gonna be fun. Plus this one would then be too long. And eh.
