Finality

The trek up there was easier then Isabelle had expected. The snow didn't start until right near the palace, which made the actual climb quite easy. And anyway, the snow melted in around her. She had entered the palace with ease, and found Elsa in her bedroom. She had stood there for a moment, wondering what to do next. But that had been decided for her, because Elsa had turned around. The ice crystal Isabelle had had her hand on melted, but Elsa didn't even glance at it. "What are you doing here?" Elsa asked. This seemed absurd to Isabelle, so she responded "I think you know." Elsa said nothing. Isabelle figured she couldn't hold this off anymore, so she said. "We want you to come back." Elsa looked angry. "I don't care about her." she said. No one said who "she" was, but they bot knew. "We both know that's not true. You love her, and she loves you too." Elsa's expression almost wavered, but she managed to keep the anger there. "Do you know how she reacted when she couldn't find you?" Isabelle was almost yelling now. "Do you know, do you know how she felt when she realized that you might not care about her? Do you know how I felt? Do you even care, Elsa? Her voice was steadily raising, and she couldn't stop the emotions from pouring out. "Yes." It started as a whisper, but it was there. "Yes, I do care Isabelle, I care too much, don't you see? People get hurt when I care most. Please, don't do this to me. I don't know whose fault this is, mine or Anna's, but in the end doesn't it come down to happiness? If we are together, only one of us can be happy. Her. Please, Isabelle, for once, let that happy person be me. I'm tired of being selfless, I've done it all my life and where has it ever gotten me?" She was yelling, but her expression finally broke. "Where did hiding my powers ever get me? Depressed and hiding all my life, with my only source of happiness, my sister, and even that was taken away from me. Where did loving her ever get me? Almost killing her. Have you ever felt that way, Isabelle? Have you ever felt that way." They were both yelling, and the icicles had started growing behind Elsa, and she was losing control. "No, I've never felt that way. But I've felt alone. When my parents left. That is how Anna feels, and I know you've felt that way too, more than any of us. So why can't you see she needs you? I promise Elsa, I swear it won't be like last time." said Isabelle, but her hands had began to heat up, because she was furious. But Elsa's voice had dropped to a whisper. "Don't you see? It already is like last time." Then it happened. Both of them lost it at once, they had reached the end of their rope. They both had the same flaw, control. When emotions ran high, their power took over. Ice shot at Isabelle, and she hit the ground almost hitting her heart. Flames shot from Isabelle's hands, missing Elsa but hitting the ground below the both of them. They both screamed at once, falling through to the ground floor, which fortunately wasn't very far. As all of it happened though, Isabelle realized Elsa was right. It was like last time. Pain had made Elsa weak and she had to leave so her weakness wouldn't be evil. But she had hurt Anna anyway, and no matter how hard she tried, it couldn't be safe for Anna. So, in many ways, it was like last time. Elsa whorled around and struck out at Isabelle but Isabelle had regained control. Now instead of lashing out, she only countered the attacks. "Elsa, please see sense. The more you fight me, the more you make it like last time." And Elsa stopped. That was all it took. Elsa sat down in the broken ice and sobbed. "Please. She'll never be safe with me there, and I'll never be happy. This is the best we can manage. This isn't a fairy tale. There's no perfect solution. I'll visit. Please." Isabelle thought. "Elsa" she said, her voice gentle. "Elsa, you know she'll never be happy without you." She put a hand on Elsa's shoulder, and Elsa brushed it away. It probably hurt. Then Elsa said something, quietly, almost inaudible. "Okay." And they left.
