Chapter 4
Tim reclined back in his recliner as he watched his wives. Adam was trying to braid Avi's hair but was failing terribly.
"Owww." Avi whines as Adam pulls just a bit too hard on his hair.
"Oops, sorry." Adam giggles. "You have such pretty hair. Wish mine was curly like yours. It's gotten so long."
"I wish mine was straight like yours." Avi chuckles.
Tim smiles as he watches them. He loved the kind of relationship that the two had. They loved each other so much. Not in a sexual way but with a strong bond. And that bond grew even stronger due to his death.
Even though Tim had been married to Adam longer, he loved Avi the same. Surprisingly enough, there was no jealousy when Avi entered their lives. Adam and Avi bonded immediately. It was Adam that actually suggested to Tim that he ask Avi to marry him. He asked and Avi said 'Yes' and the rest was blissful history. They were a happy loving family until the wreck.

Austin took a deep breath to try and calm his nerves as he drove up into the driveway. He had to be cool about this. He had to act normal. But how was he supposed to do that? The man inside the house was dead.
He walks up to the door and lets go of a breath that he didn't know he was holding. He taps on the door as he opens it and looks in.
"Is it alright if I come in?" Austin says with a smile.
"Sure." Tim smiles from his seat in the recliner.
"Did you get everything taken care of?" Avi asks.
"Yep. Thanks for the use of the car, Avi." Austin smiles as he goes to sit down.
"Anytime." Avi says.
"Will you sit still?" Adam giggles.
"My head is getting sore. You've been pulling on my hair for an hour." Avi complains as he rubs his head.
"I give up." Adam laughs as he undoes the braid and brushes Avi's hair.
"Good." Avi chuckles as he puts on his snapback.
"Tim? Do you mind if I stay here for a few days? I'm kinda stranded." Austin asks with a nervous smile as he watches the brown-eyed man's reaction.
"Uh," Tim says, glancing quickly at his spouses. "Sure. I guess that would be fine."
"See, Austin. We told you he wouldn't care." Adam smiles as he walks to the kitchen to get them something to eat.
"So, uh, did you meet Chance?" Tim asks. But Austin notices a worried look come across his face.
"Yeah, he's very cute." Austin chuckles, trying to keep the conversation uplifting.
"Chance and I were .. are best friends." Tim says with a smile.
The change of words did not go unnoticed by the newcomer.
"Really? That's cool." Austin smiles. "As a matter of fact, we have a date Friday night.
"What!?" Tim asks, his eyes widening.
"A date?" Avi asks as he turns pale.
"Chance is coming here?" Adam asks, frozen in his spot.
"Uh, yeah. If that's alright? He's supposed to pick me up at seven." Austin says, looking at the three men.
"Yeah, yeah. That's that's fine." Tim says, nodding quickly. "Excuse me, I have to go to the bathroom."
And with that, he jumps up from the recliner and quickly heads to the bathroom.
"Is he alright?" Austin asks, confused by Tim's strange behavior.
"Yeah, I'm sure he is." Adam forces a smile as he hands Austin his tea. "I should go check on him."
"So, uh, did you get your suitcases?" Avi asks, trying to get Austin mind off of what could be happening in the bathroom.
"Yeah, I was just gonna make sure I could stay first." Austin says with a nod.
"Great." Avi says, jumping up from where he was sitting. "Come on, I'll help you bring them in."
"Okay?" Austin chuckles slightly and shakes his head. Sitting his tea down, he gets up and follows Avi out of the house.
~~
"Tim, it's me." Adam whispers as he lightly taps on the bathroom door. He hears the door unlock so he slowly opens it, seeing his husband pacing back and forth. "Honey, don't panic."
"Don't panic? How can I help not panic, Adam?" Tim says in a low whisper, brushing back his hair. "Chance is coming here. Chance knows I'm dead. Austin thinks I'm alive. This is not going to end well."
"Just calm down." Adam says as he puts the lid down on the toilet and pushes his husband to sit down.
"They're going to find out." Tim whispers looking into the blue eyes of his wife.
"Would it be so bad if they did? Tim, you and Chance were like brothers. When you died, a part of him died." Adam says, gently rubbing Tim's cheek.
"I don't know. But this ain't normal." Tim says pointing to his body. "My actual body is lying six feet under. How is anyone going to understand that I'm here in a duplicate body when I don't even understand."
"But the body itself, cannot leave the house. Only the spirit can. So no one sees you when we go to town. I truly don't think Chance would tell anyone if he did find out." Adam says. "He would be happy just to see you and talk to you again."
A soft knock on the door causes them to stop talking.
"It's me." Avi says softly.
Adam reaches for the door to let him in.
"Austin's upstairs unpacking." Avi says quietly.
"And just how well do we know this Austin?" Tim asks. "He shows up on our doorstep and now he's staying with us. When he finds out, which he will, what will he do?"
"Maybe he's trustworthy." Avi says.
"But, Honey, we don't know that." Tim says, offering his bearded wife a smile.
"Well, I do know one thing. He's going to think it's a little strange that we're all in the bathroom." Avi chuckles.
"I just think that we don't need to panic and just let things happen. That's all we can do." Adam says as he takes Avi and Tim by the hand.
"You're right. There's nothing we can do but wait and sees what happens." Tim shrugs.
~~~
Austin was upstairs hanging his clothes in the closet. His thoughts were all over the place. A knock on the door brings him back to reality.
"Yeah?" He answers walking back over to the suitcases that were lying on the bed.
"Hey, Austin?" Adam says as he peeks in. "Tim, Avi and I are going to run to the store to pick up a few things. Do you need anything?"
"No, I think I'm good." Austin smiles. "But thanks."
"Okay, we won't be gone long." Adam says and then closes the door.
"I'm craving fried chicken." Austin could hear Avi say from outside his open window. He hears Tim comment but couldn't make out what was said.
He smiles as he continues to unpack until he realizes that he only heard two car doors slam. He slips up to the window and peeks out.
Adam was driving with Avi in the passenger seat. Only two people were in the car.
