Chapter 2 Strangher
Max's P.O.V
I searched the cabinets for food. Where the hell are the chips? I looked in the pasta cabinet and gasped. "Ross! Did you eat all the god damn Mac and cheese?" Ross came into the kitchen and stretched. "I didn't take your mac and cheese. Geez. Lighten up." He grabbed his canned nuts from the shelf and walked away. "Well, go ask Tim than." I yelled. Ross screamed, "Tim, Max wants to know if you ate all the Mac and cheese!"
"I didn't!" Tim yelled back. I rolled my eyes and grabbed my wallet.
I opened the door. "Ross, Tim! I'm gonna go buy some food!" I yelled before I left. Ross poked his head in the living room. "Oh! Get me some Popsicle sticks and light blue paint from Michael's. Oh! And black and pink yarn." I turned around. I shook my head. Is he making a f**king voodoo doll?"
When I arrived in the parking lot, I looked out the window. Just a normal day in the strip mall. All of sudden, yells rang out in the lot. I quickly opened the door and stepped out of the car. I looked around for something odd. A man in a hoodie ran down the lot, knocking over people. "Hey!" I yelled.
I jotted down the parking lot and ran after the man. He was holding a purple backpack, so I knew he was a thief. He ran for the corner so I went behind it. When he came around, I ran up to him. He stopped in from of me. I quickly punched him in the nose and he fell to the ground.
I kicked him and crossed my arms. A girl came around the corner and looked down at him. She grabbed the backpack and slung it over her shoulder. She looked up at me. "Didn't know you were chasing after him too?" I said smiling. She stood up and smiled. "Yeah. The bastard grabbed my backpack when I wasn't looking." I looked down at her knees which were bleeding and her jeans which were ripped. I nodded at them. "You fell?" I asked. She looked down and nodded. I looked over at a bakery next to Michael's. "How about we get you cleaned up and something to eat?"

We sat down at a table in the bakery. I unwrapped my Boston creme and licked my lips. I could tell he was staring at me. I laughed nervously. "I haven't really eaten much lately." I said. He put down his coffee. "How come?" I looked at my donut. "Um." I said trying not to say anything stupid. He stared at my face and sat up. "You were crying weren't you?" he asked. I shrugged. "You have scrapes on your knees, your eyes are dry, you look really down. What's wrong?" he asked. I looked up. "Can I trust you?" He nodded. I took a deep breath.
I told him about my past and all my troubles. He listened to every word, and when he did I felt like I could trust him. "So I have nowhere to go, and I tried applying for several jobs but they won't take me." I said taking sips of my water. "And I have a degree in college." He spit out his coffee. "What? You're only nineteen and you graduated college already?" he asked. I laughed and wiped away the coffee. "Sorry." he said. I shook my head. "It's okay. Yeah, I'm like really smart and stuff so I skipped a couple grades and graduated college early." He leaned back and nodded. "Ten minutes and I'm already impressed with you." he said smiling. I blushed. "Yeah, well I don't have a place a stay so my impressiveness is not so special." I looked away.

I thought for a minute. Maybe she can, I mean Ross and Tim won't mind. They're nice. I made my decision. "Maybe you can stay with me?" I said. Her face lightened up. "What? Really?" she said. I nodded. "Yeah, I live with roommates though if you don't mind but you can stay with me." She smiled and gave me hug. I wrapped my arms around her. She stepped back. "Thank you. Thank you so much." She wiped her tears with her sleeve. I smiled. "No problem. Well, we should get going then." I said. She sat up and grabbed her backpack. "Okay." she said and we walked out of the bakery.
