Chapter 11 Lost and Found

Max's P.O.V
Ever since Alexa came to visit, I have been in such a good mood lately. I'm completing videos quicker. I've been getting along with everyone better lately. It's been great!

Alexa and I have been hanging out to catch up in what we've missed since high school. She talked about her family's wealth and I flaked about my moving to Bellevue and getting a job here.

"Wouldn't you want to work somewhere better than being an editor. I know you were smarter in high school." she said. I shrugged.

"Yeah, but I love it here." I responded. She nodded. "Whatever." she said.

I admit, Alexa has been a bit snobbier than she has in high school. But other than that she's changed a lot! Alexa has changed her attitude, her personality, practically her whole life. It's amazing.

For the couple days I've been with Alexa, I've been getting mixed signals from the guys. Red was trying to tell me to focus on work, Adam was telling me to stop bringing personal things to work, Barney was telling me to quit the love stuff with Alexa, and Ross has just trying to get me to look at Melody for once.

Melody. Wow, I haven't payed much attention to her at all lately. Actually, she hasn't looked at me a lot lately. I've been so caught up with Alexa I haven't been worried about my main guest, Melody.

Oh my god, what have I done. I need to patch things up with Melody. But she's not mad at me. She just hasn't been talking to me lately. What if she's just busy with her new job at the offices. Yeah, that's it. I don't need to worry.

Alexa and I need to catch up. Melody can wait. Besides, she's got all the other guys gawking at her. Why does she need more attention from me?

Melody's P.O.V
I've been texting her for a long time now. I haven't called her yet, but I'm still in touch with her. I haven't seen her since the fire. She's been hiding herself, like I have. We never wanted to go back to that. She was eighteen and was about to go to college, but she dropped out at the last minute.

I always told her to go and just do what she wants and do what she was made to do. No, she doesn't anyway. She was really smart and had a talent for writing. Her words flowed on the page like water through the sand.

She was special, and all of that was taken away by one fire, one flame, one light that left her everything, my everything, in darkness.

I sat in Olive Garden with Red. I promised him dinner after I accidentally popped the balloon he got from the mall we went to with the guys yesterday.

He was devouring his plate, and it was pretty funny. I pulled out my phone and readied for a picture. He looked up. He smiled extra big with rigatoni noodles all over him. I laughed and snapped the pic.

I looked at it and smiled. "Red, you should be an Olive Garden food model. You look really good in this!" I said. We laughed. He sat up straight and flexed his non-muscles.

"Yeah, you're right. I am pretty good looking." he said. At that moment a noodle fell from his face and on the table. We burst out laughing.

A couple minutes later, I got a text from Barney. Hey. Max just went to Barnelli's with Alexa as a "reunion dinner."

I rolled my eyes and texted him back. I'm actually not surprised. He's been slathering her up wth sauce ever since she got here. And now he's probably going to finish the plate.

I put away my phone and held my head. Red was looking at me. "What's up?" he said. "Max went to Barnelli's with Alexa." I said. He rolled his eyes. "Super."

I nodded. "If you just saw her again, why would you be all over her? I mean it's stupid to hug and laugh with someone you just saw!" I exclaimed. Red looked at me.

"Really? Because I know someone who came to the offices and immediately fell in love and became attached to a guy." he said smirking. I smiled and shook my head.

"That's different." I said.

After dinner, I walked out of the restaurant with Red. "Thanks for the dinner." Red said. I smiled. "It's no problem. I had to make up for what I did to your balloon." I said.

He smiled. "That was a tragic loss." he said. I smiled. "Bye Red. I'll see you at work and at the fair." We hugged and walked to our cars.

I passed several couples and families walking to the call of the spaghetti and breadstick gods. I slipped passed different cars and came across a young woman. She was looking at my car.

I waved at her. "Um, miss? Can you move so I can get to my car, please?" I said politely. She stared at the inside of my car. The thing was, she never flinched or move. I was getting impatient. "Miss-" I stepped forward.

She looked up at me. I stopped in my tracks and stared at her. There's no way. I stared at her blankly, my heart beating. It was silent.

She sucked in her lips and smiled awkwardly. I dropped my purse and stared at her.

"Natalie?"
