chapter 6 - Heart Monitor
Outfits in the external link
From 1.02 "Second Chance at First Line", outside the Hale House, Stiles and Scott stood above Laura's grave.
Jackson: (voice over) "Previously on Worlds Colliding (Teen Wolf)"
From 1.03 "Pack Mentality", in the Beacon Hills Animal Clinic, Sheriff looked at the boss. "Hey, Deaton, listen, while I'm here, you mind taking a look at those pictures I was telling you about?"
Deaton took the evidence envelope, taking out the pictures. "A wolf could chase down its prey, hobbling it by tearing at the ankles."
From 1.03 "Pack Mentality", in Scott's dream, Scott grabbed Allison's ankle, making her scream and fall.
From 1.03 "Pack Mentality", in the bowling alley's arcade, Jackson and Scott were talking.
"Don't think for a second I've given up on finding out what your little secret is," Jackson told him. I think whatever it is you're hiding..." He turned his head. "You don't want her to find out about it, either."
Scott followed his gaze to Allison, who was getting ready to leave, sitting next to Lydia.
From 1.04 "Magic Bullet", in BHHS' hallway, Tara started to walk past Jackson.
Jackson turned to Tara, grabbing her shoulder. "No, we're not done here--"
Tara turned back to Jackson angrily, pushing him face first against the lockers, her claws in the back of his neck. "Yeah, we are."
Tara took her claws from out of his neck, turning to Derek.
From 1.05 "The Tell", in Allison's car, Scott and Allison were talking.
Allison was in the driver's seat. "This was..."
From 1.05 "The Tell", in Allison's car, Scott and Allison were talking.
Allison was in the driver's seat. "Kind of the perfect birthday."
From 1.05 "The Tell", outside the video store, Ari got three drinks from the vending machine, walking back toward the car.
The Alpha broke out of the window behind her, falling into Ari, making her fall to the ground, the drinks rolling away from her.
Lydia screamed.
Ari landed on her stomach on the concrete, trying to crawl away.
The Alpha got off of Ari, running away.
Lydia got out of the car, running to Ari's side, holding out both her hands.
Ari took each, letting Lydia help her up. Lydia instantly pulled her into a hug.
"Are you okay?" Lydia asked worriedly, pulling away. Ari didn't answer, and her eyes trailed down to Ari's bloody side, the teeth holes going through her black leather jacket and blood stained white shirt. "Oh, my God, Ari."
Ari looked down, pulling her leather jacket and shirt up enough to reveal the big, round, circular bite, blood staining her skin and trailing down to the black leggings. She lowered her shirt and jacket in shock and confusion, breathing heavily, looking up.
From 1.05 "The Tell", in Ari's Home, Nathan and Macey were arguing.
"I can't tell her," Nathan told her.
Macey started to walk for the kitchen door. "Then I'll do it."
Nathan grabbed her arm to stop her. "Macey, don't. Not yet."
"When?" Macey asked. "When you feel like it, or when it's too late? If you want to get some distance from her before it happens, please don't make me watch you destroy everything about this family, everything about her. She is our daughter, Nate, and you treat her like she's a stranger. And because of some promise you made me promise, you're making me treat her the same way."
From 1.05 "The Tell", in Ari's Home's hallway, Ari was listening.
The coffee beeper went off three times, signaling that the coffee was done, but it sounded like little explosive bombs going off in Ari's head. Her hands went to her ears again, exhaling a surprised breath, waiting until the last beep was done.
Ari slowly lowered her hands to her sides, her mouth open slightly in shock and confusion.
Ari: (voice over from 1.05 The Tell) "The only things I've been doing that's impossible is hearing things I shouldn't be hearing, like a fight between my emotionless parents..."
From 1.05 "The Tell", in Harris' Classroom, Jackson and Ari were sitting together.
Stiles leaned forward until the chair he was sitting in fell, the metal clattering against the tile loudly.
Ari flinched at the loud sound, covering her ears, breaking the metal pen in her hand in two accidentally. The ink seeped over her hand.
Ari: (voice over from 1.05 The Tell) "And breaking a metal pen with one hand on accident."
From 1.05 "The Tell", in BHHS' hallway, Ari was at her locker.
Derek was in front of her. "Did the wolf bite you?"
"Why do you care?" Ari asked.
The bell rang.
Ari flinched, automatically pulling her hand away from the locker with her hand still around the lock, breaking it off, in her hand. She stared in confusion, incredulously.
"That's why," Derek told her. Ari started to walk away. Derek grabbed her arm. "I can help you."
From 1.05 "The Tell", outside BHHS, The conferences were over, every parent, student, and teacher coming out of the building.
Scott heard Ari's heavy breathing, looking over to her, seeing her glowing blue eyes, pulling her out of sight of the other people, his eyes wide. "So it's true. He did bite you. What are you doing here?"
"What are you talking about?" Ari asked softly.
Scott shook his head, whispering his words. "You need to leave."
"What?" Ari asked.
People were still running, still screaming.
"I'll explain everything later, I promise, but you need to leave," Scott told her. He looked toward Allison and Mrs. Argent, looking back at Ari. "Before they see you."
"See me do what?" Ari asked just as quietly, showing her confusion and fear of the unknown.
"Lose control," Scott answered.
Ari looked desperately over at him in confusion. "What's happening to me?"
"I promise I will tell you everything, but you have to trust me, okay?" Scott asked.
Ari slowly started to nod. "Yeah. Okay."
Stacie sighed of relief when Ari was heading to her motorcycle, getting on and pulling on the helmet and driving away, out of there.
Sheriff ran through the crowd. "Move! Move!"
A car horn honked as he ran around it.
Stacie saw it backing toward him, running closer. "Dad!" The warning wasn't enough as the silver Ford hit him, making him fall toward the ground. Stacie ran next to him, kneeling, not caring about the running and screaming people, or the beeping of the car horns as they tried to make their escape. "Dad."
Stacie knelt next to her father worriedly, holding his shoulders.
Sheriff looked up at Stacie. "I'm okay."
Two gun shots sounded, but they didn't come from Sheriff's gun.
Everyone looked up to another man holding a silver gun.
Chris lowered his gun.
Stacie looked up. "Oh, my God."
From 1.05 "The Tell", in Lydia's House, in her bedroom, Lydia was lying on her bed.
Stiles sat next to her. "Lydia, what did you see?"
"Something bit Ari," Lydia answered.
From 1.05 "The Tell", in Ari's House, in her bedroom, Ari was looking into the body-length mirror. She lifted her shirt and revealing the bandage over the bite from the Alpha. She slowly started to peel it off to reveal the healed surface skin of her side.
There was no wound.
Ari looked up at her reflection in complete shock.

Day One
Night - Parking Garage
(Song:) Sun of a Gun - Oh, Land
Scott opened the door to the third level of the car park, walking out with bags in his hands. He slowed to a stop when he didn't see his car. "Damn it."
Scott turned back to the door, opening the door for the fourth level and going out. He saw a redhead with a leather jacket and bags in her hands walking toward a blue car. "Ari?"
Ari turned to face Scott. "Hey. Doesn't matter if we're both Werewolves, don't call me Ari."
"Right, sorry," Scott told her. "Uh..." He looked at the keys in her hand. "I thought you only had the bike."
"I do," Ari told him. "I'm borrowing Lydia's car 'cause she's at Allison's. I hate the vegetarian crap my parents eat all the damn time."
Scott nodded awkwardly once. "Speaking of which... How exactly are you gonna keep this a secret from Lydia?"
Ari shook her head, giving him an are you serious look. "I don't tell Lydia about my personal life, she doesn't tell me about hers. It'll be like nothing's changed."
"Except that you'll be over at her place practically all the time," Scott told her.
"Well, that's an exaggeration, and even if it wasn't, you don't want me shifting in front of my parents and killing them, do you?" Ari asked.
Scott chuckled. "No, I guess not." He looked around. "Where's my car?"
"Don't know, you're the one that parked it," Ari told him, walking toward Lydia's car, hitting the open trunk button.
It slowly opened.
Ari put her own bags inside. She started to close it.
"Wait," Scott told her, putting his bags down for a second and got out his own keys with the alarm button.
A bottle was rolling out of one of Scott's bag, rolling out the trunk and past them, under a black car.
"Uh...." Ari trailed off.
"Oh, crap," Scott told her, going after it.
The bottle rolled right back to him.
(Song Ends)
They heard growling.
Not even bothering to close the trunk door, Ari started to run, leaving it open.
Scott followed her.
They ran as fast as they could. They rounded the corner of the parking garage, both looking back as they continued running.
A black shape was running after them.
They rounded another corner as more growling was ensued.
"There's two of them?" Ari asked desperately.
"I don't know!" Scott told her. "Faster!"
"I'm trying!" Ari told him. They rounded yet another corner as the Werewolf went after them. Another corner. Scott grabbed Ari's arm, dragging them to the red car to hide behind. Ari's voice was a barely audible whisper. "What are you doing?"
"We have to get out of here," Scott answered in a whisper just as quietly.
Ari gave him a you don't say sarcastic but nervous look, looking around. She looked as if she came up with an idea and pointed at the cars.
Scott looked at her in confusion.
Ari sighed an annoyed sigh, getting up, pushing him toward one of the rows of cars. She ran for the other across, not hesitating to jump onto the first car, the alarm blaring then jumping to the next.
Finally, Scott got what Ari was doing, jumping onto cars on his own side, alarms going off from both sides as they hopped from one car to the other all the way along down the line.
All the alarms went off, and they met at the end, Ari landing on the ground first, and then Scott.
Ari ran fast to keep up with Scott, rounding another corner, hiding behind different cars.
Their cars were about five cars apart, his a black junker while hers was a dirty green.
Both of their heartbeats were beating loudly. They were both breathing heavily.
Scott held his hand over her heart.
Ari took several deep, quiet breaths to get it to slow down.
Scott's cell phone rang.
Scott gasped. "No. No, stop."
Ari resisted a groan, tilting her head back.
A thud sounded on both cars.
Derek grabbed Scott's collar, pulling him through the air and pushing him against the hood of the car.
Tara grabbed Ari's shoulders, flipping her over her head and onto on the ground.
Tara looked from Scott to Ari. "You're dead."

Parking Garage
Derek and Tara walked away from Scott and Ari. Scott and Ari followed Derek and Tara.
"What the hell was that?" Ari asked incredulously.
"We said we were going to teach both of you," Derek told them. "We didn't say when."
"You scared the crap out of us!" Scott exclaimed.
Tara looked from Scott to Ari on either side of her and Derek. "Not yet."
"But we were fast, right?" Scott asked.
"Not fast enough," Tara told them.
"But the car alarm thing, that was smart, right?" Ari asked.
"Till Scott's phone rang," Derek told them.
"Yeah, but that was--" Scott cut himself off. Ari stopped walking in annoyance. "I mean--"
"Would you just stop?" Ari asked.
Scott, Tara and Derek stopped too.
"Please," Scott added. "What happened the other night, Stiles and Stacie's dad getting hurt, that was my fault. I should've been there to do something."
"We need you to teach us how to control this," Ari told them.
"Look, we are what we are because of birth," Derek told them. He looked between them. "You were bitten. Teaching someone who was bitten takes time. I don't even know if we can teach you."
"What do we have to do?" Scott asked desperately.
"You have to get rid of distractions," Tara answered. She took Scott's phone and showed him the screen. The person who had called was Allison. She looked only at Scott. "You want us to teach you, get rid of her." She looked at Ari. "You don't have to get rid of anything. You don't have anyone to get rid of."
"Oh, thanks," Ari told her sarcastically.
Tara looked at Scott. "But you have to get rid of her."
Tara pointed at Allison's name on his screen.
"What, just because of her family?" Scott asked. Tara held up the phone, turning away, throwing it against the concrete walls, breaking it. "Whoa, whoa, wait!"
"You getting angry?" Derek asked. "That's your first lesson. You wanna learn how to control this, how to shift? You do it through anger. By tapping into a primal, animal rage, and you can't do that with her around."
"I can get angry," Scott told them coldly.
"Not angry enough," Tara stressed. "This is the only way that we can teach you. Now, can you stay away from her? At least until after the full moon?"
"If that's what it takes," Scott answered.
Derek looked from Scott to Ari. "Do you want to live? Do you want to protect your friends?"
"Yes," Ari answered.
Scott nodded. "If you can teach us, I can stay away from her."

Argent Home - Allison's Room
(Song:) Get Some - Lykke Li
Allison pushed Scott onto the bed, laying over him, kissing him. She pulled back. "Take it off."
"You're okay with that?" Scott asked.
"Are you okay with it?" Allison asked.
"You're asking me if I'm okay with taking off your clothes?" Scott asked.
Allison laughed. "Stupid question."
"Like, world record stupid," Scott agreed.
"You first," Allison told him, rolling onto the bed.
Scott laid over her, kissing her. They both sat up, still kissing. Allison slowly pulled Scott's shirt over his head, putting it aside, kissing again. She laid down again, using his jeans to pull him with her. Allison rolled on Scott as he slowly took her bra off from under her shirt, putting it aside and rolling on her.
A knock on the door made them both stop, pulling back.
(Song Ends)
Allison stood nervously. "Just a second."
Allison took Scott by his hand, opening the closet door and putting him inside, closing the door.
"Allison," Kate said from outside the door.
"Uh, coming," Allison told her. "Coming." She walked toward the door, then stopped, looking down at her shirt and folding her arms over her chest, going to open the door. "Okay..."
Allison opened the door.
"Hey," Kate told her.
"Hey," Allison told her.
"What's up?" Kate asked.
"Uh, nothing," Allison told her, turning around and heading toward her laptop. "Just doing homework, sending some e-mails."
¤•¤°¤•¤
Closet
Scott watched through the slits in Allison's closest as Allison sat down at her desk and Kate walked in.
"Emailing the boyfriend?" Kate asked.
"No," Allison answered. "I'm e-mailing PETA about how my wingnut father gunned down an innocent mountain lion in the school parking lot."
Scott smiled.
¤•¤°¤•¤
Room
Kate looked at Allison knowingly. "And that wouldn't have anything to do with the fact that you're grounded and you can't see Scott?"
"I'm not gonna be one of those whining teenagers who looks at her father and says, 'I hate you. I wish you were dead'," Allison told her.
"But..?" Kate asked.
"But..." Allison trailed off. "I hate him and I wish he was dead."
Kate laughed. "See, now you're starting to sound like a normal, angry teenager."
¤•¤°¤•¤
Closet
Scott watched through the slits.
Allison looked toward the closet.
"What are you working on?" Kate asked. "Can I help?"
Allison looked at the screen. "A history project, and I just want to be left alone, actually."
Scott nodded.
¤•¤°¤•¤
Room
Kate looked at Allison. "Come on. What kind of history project?"
"I have to come up with a report that has some relevance to my own family history," Allison answered.
"Specific to your family?" Kate asked.
"Why?" Allison asked. "Do you have any ideas?"
Kate leaned next to Allison. "Type this in. 'La Bete du Gevaudan.'"
Allison translated as she typed it in. "The Beast of Gevaudan."
¤•¤°¤•¤
Closet
Scott watched them through the slits.
"What is this?" Allison asked.
Kate tilted her head, shrugging. "It's an old French legend that, believe it or not, has something to do with your family."
¤•¤°¤•¤
Room
Allison looked at the animal, reading aloud. "'In 1766 in a province of Lozere, La Bete killed over 100 people.'"
"Mysterious animal attacks," Kate told her. "Just like a certain town called Beacon Hills."

Closet
Scott watched them through the slits.

Room
Allison looked back at the screen. "So what was it? The animal?"
Kate shook her head. "Nobody knows for sure, but I can tell you one thing. It definitely wasn't a mountain lion. What's it look like to you?"
Allison looked at the over-sized beast. "It looks like... a wolf."
¤•¤°¤•¤
Closet
Scott stayed quiet, leaning his head against the door.

Outside
Scott, fully clothed, climbed out of Allison's window, walking across the roof and sitting down, looking back at Allison.
Allison looked out the open window, smiling.
Scott slid off the roof to the ground below, looking back up at Allison.
Allison waved goodbye, walking away from the window.
Scott walked across the driveway when he heard the rustling of the bushes behind him. He stopped, looking into the darkness. "Tara? I know I said I would stay away, but you broke my phone. I had to at least tell her why I wasn't answering." A low growling made him take a step forward. "Derek?"
The growling turned louder.
Scott backed away, breathing heavily as he ran full speed to his car across the street, unlocking the door, opening it and getting inside in fear.
The Alpha stalked closer.
Scott saw the Alpha in the review mirror as it rounded around the car, standing at his window.
The Alpha slowly drew a spiral into the condensation on the window.
Then he disappeared.
Scott looked at the spiral in confused fear.

McCall Home - Scott's Room
Scott walked into his dark room, closing and locking the door. He walked hurriedly to his window, closing it and locking it, drawing the blinds. He looked outside.
Finally, he turned on the lamp next to him, revealing Derek sitting in the blue chair next to the bed.
Scott jumped, gasping. "You seriously need to stop doing that."
"So what happened?" Derek asked. "Did he talk to you?"
"Yeah," Scott told him sarcastically. "We had a nice conversation about the weather. No, he didn't talk!"
"Well, did you get anything off of him?" Derek asked. "An impression."
"What do you mean?" Scott asked.
Derek stood. "Remember, your other senses are heightened. Communication doesn't have to be spoken. What kind of feeling did you get from him?"
"Anger," Scott answered.
"Focused on you?" Derek asked.
"No, not... not me," Scott answered. "But it was definitely anger. I could feel it. Especially when he drew the spiral."
"Wait, the what?" Derek asked. "What'd you just say?"
"He drew this spiral on the window of my car, in the condensation, you know?" Scott asked. Derek looked down in recognition. "What? You have this look like you know what it means."
"No, it's... it's nothing," Derek told him, starting to walk for the door.
Scott turned after him. "Wait, wait, wait, wait a second. You can't do that. You and Tara can't ask me and Ari to trust you and then just keep things to yourselves."
Derek shook his head. "Doesn't mean anything."
Derek unlocked the door.
"You guys buried your sister under a spiral," Scott told him. "What does it mean?"
Derek opened the door, putting a hand on his shoulder. "You don't want to know."
Derek walked out, leaving Scott in his confusion.
Scott turned around with a sigh, laying down on his bed, closing his eyes to go to sleep. "Stay away from Allison. Stay away from Allison."

Day Two
Morning - Ari's Home - Foyer
Ari walked for the door.
Nathan stood behind her in the doorway of the kitchen. "Arielle. Can we talk?"
"I'm, uh..." Ari trailed off, using her thumb to point to the door. "I need to get to school."
"It'll only take a few minutes," Nathan told her.
Ari sighed, walking toward one of the couches, sitting down. "Where's Mom?"
"Another double shift," Nathan answered. "She'll be home when you get home from school."
"What is this about?" Ari asked.
"Well, uh..." Nathan trailed off, looking down, then up again. "What exactly have you been telling your teachers at school?"
Ari blinked in surprise. "I'm sorry, what?"
"What have you been telling your teachers?" Nathan repeated. "Because they've told us some things--"
"Some things like what, Dad?" Ari asked. "Or can you even have that title after years of not giving a damn?"
"That's not true," Nathan told her.
"You barely talk to me any day of the year, and now you expect me to believe we're having a nice conversation about my school?" Ari asked. "Especially when Mom told you to stop keeping secrets that are gonna destroy the family more than it's already destroyed or get out."
"About Adriana," Nathan told her. "What have you told them about Adriana?"
Ari's heartbeat picked up just a fraction. She looked at him expressionlessly, concealing any reaction. "What do you mean?"
"Just..." Nathan trailed off. "About what happened before it, after it, about us."
Ari scoffed quietly, looking at him as she barely shook her head. "This isn't about Adri at all, is it? No, it's about you. You, Dad, and everything that got screwed up and how our family shattered after Adri..." She stood, turning away. "I can't believe you're bringing this up."
Ari's heart beat loudly, quicker than before. Her eyes glowed blue.
She was about to lose control.
A little girl's laugh sounded through her head.
¤
Flashback - Four Years Ago
Day - Woods
Five girls ran through the woods alone, all by the age of twelve. They were all laughing.
Two of the girls were strawberry blonde, one's hair in a side-braid while the other's was completely down. Young Adriana and Ari.
One of the girls had brunette hair. Young Stacie.
One of the girls had dirty blonde hair, running after Young Stacie.
The last girl had bright blonde hair, behind the rest.
"Can't catch me, Ari!" Young Adriana teased, running along.
"Uh-huh!" Young Ari laughed, running after her.
"Uh-uh!" Young Adriana laughed.
"Stacie, wait up!" the brighter blonde hair giggled.
The dirty blond girl turned to face her. "Come on, Heather. Gotta be faster than that."
Heather stepped up next to her. "Easy for you to say, Natalie. I can't run like the wind."
Young Stacie stopped, raising her arms in the air victoriously as she stood on a giant tree stump. "I'm gonna be the fastest girl in the world!"
"Yeah, you wish," Natalie told her.
All five girls were laughing, giggling.
¤
Now
Morning - Ari's Home - Living Room
Ari closed her eyes with a sigh. When she opened her eyes, her eyes were her naturally colored blue, no longer glowing.
Nathan slowly stood. "Ari?"
Ari walked out without another word.
¤•¤°¤•¤
Outside
(Song:) Work - 1, 2, 3
Ari walked toward her bike. She had gotten on and the helmet was in her hands, and she was about to put it on. She stopped, looking at the pattern in the condensation on the mirror, drawn onto enough to where she could see a little of her reflection in the circular lines.
It was in the shape of a spiral.
Ari looked up in confusion.
¤•¤°¤•¤
Beacon Hills High School - Hallway
Scott was walking through. "Stay away from Allison. Stay away from Allison." He walked up the stairs. Allison walked down the second flight. Scott turned around, walking back downstairs. "Stay away from Allison. Just stay away from Allison." Jackson walked out of the classroom in front of him. Scott turned around. "Stay away from Jackson. Just stay away from Jackson."
Lydia was at her locker, turning to look at him. "Hey, Scott."
Scott turned around in annoyance. "Oh, come on!"
¤•¤°¤•¤
English Classroom
Scott walked in, looking at Stacie and Stiles sitting next to each other.
Ari walked in from behind Scott.
Ari and Scott exchanged a look before going toward Stiles and Stacie. Scott sat behind Stiles. Ari sat behind Stacie.
(Song Ends)
"Still not talking to us?" Scott asked.
No answer.
"Look, can you guys at least tell us if your dad's okay?" Ari asked. "It's just a bruise, right? Soft tissue damage? Nothing that big?"
Still no answer.
"You know I feel bad about it, right?" Scott asked. Still no answer. "Okay." He sighed. "What if I told you that I'm trying to figure this whole thing out, and Arielle, since she's new, and that we went to Derek and Tara for help?"
Stiles sighed an annoyed sigh. "If I was talking to you, I'd say you're both idiots for trusting them." Scott and Ari nodded in acknowledgement. "But, obviously, I'm not talking to you."
The bell rang.
Ari looked like she got an idea, looking at Stiles and Stacie, smirking. She bit her lip, looking at Scott with an exaggerated sigh to get their attentions. "I found a spiral traced on the condensation on my bike review mirror this morning."
"What?" Scott asked. "There was on my car window. The Alpha drew it."
"What does it mean?" Ari asked.
Scott shook his head. "I talked to Derek about it, and--"
Stacie cut him off with an abrupt sigh, turning to face them. "What did they say?"
"Who?" Ari asked. "Tara or Derek?"
"Both," Stacie answered.
Stiles turned around.
"About what?" Ari asked.
"About everything," Stacie answered.
Scott and Ari smiled.

Hallway
(Song:) Resume - Val Emmich
The bell rang.
Stiles, Scott, Stacie and Ari walked out together.
"Wha--they want you guys to tap into your animal side and get angry?" Stacie asked.
"Yeah," Scott and Ari answered.
"All right, well, correct me if I'm wrong, but every time Scott does that, he tries to kill someone," Stiles told them. "And that someone's usually me." Ari smirked. Stiles looked at Ari. "You?"
"Almost lost it this morning," Ari admitted.
"What stopped you?" Stacie asked.
Ari shook her head. "I have no idea. But we need to find a way to know."
"I know," Scott told them. "That's what they mean when they says they don't know if they can teach us."
"We have to be able to control it," Ari told them, shaking her head.
"Well, how are they gonna teach you how to do that?" Stiles asked.
Scott and Ari shrugged.
"We don't know," Ari told them. "I don't think they do either."
"Okay," Stacie told them, sighing. "When do you see them again?"
"They just told us not to think about it," Scott told them. "Just act normal and get through the day--"
Stacie stopped, hitting him on the shoulder. "When?"
"They're picking me up at the animal clinic after work, Ari's riding over," Scott answered.
"Don't call me Ari," Ari told them.
Stiles, Scott and Stacie ignored her.
"After work," Stacie repeated. "All right. Well, that gives us to the end of the school day, then."
"To do what?" Ari asked suspiciously.
"To teach you ourselves," Stacie answered.
Stiles and Stacie started to walk away.
Scott and Ari looked after them in confusion.

Cafeteria
Lydia sat at a table with Allison. "The what of who?"
Allison had a book in her hand. "The Beast of Gevauden. Listen. 'A quadruped wolf-like monster, prowling the Auvergne and South Dordogne areas of France during the year of 1764 to 1767. La Bete killed over 100 people, becoming so infamous that the King Louis XV sent one of his best hunters to try and kill it.'"
Lydia used her fork to point at Allison. "Boring."
"'Even the church eventually declared the monster a messenger of Satan'," Allison went on.
"Hmm," Lydia hummed. "Still boring."
"'Cryptozoologists believe it may have been a subspecies of hoofed predator, possibly a mesonychid'," Allison read.
"Slipping-into-a-coma bored," Lydia told her, taking a bite of her food.
"'While others believe it was a powerful sorcerer who could shape-shift into a man-eating monster'," Allison told her.
"Any of this have anything to do with your family?" Lydia asked.
"This," Allison answered. "'It is believed that La Bete was finally trapped and killed by a renown hunter who claimed his wife and four children were the first to fall prey to the creature.'" She looked up smugly. "His name was Argent."
"Your ancestors killed a big wolf," Lydia told her. "So what?"
"Not just a big wolf," Allison told her. "Take a look at this picture." She held up a picture in the book for Lydia to see. "What does that look like to you?" Lydia looked at the big, dark creature with glowing red eyes, looking at it with fear and recognition. "Lydia? Lydia."
Lydia looked up, acting completely normal. "It looks like a big wolf." She smiled. "See you in History."
Lydia stood, walking away.

Elsewhere
Scott, Stiles, Stacie and Ari sat at their own table. Ari and Scott sat on one side, Stiles and Stacie on the other.
"My biker loner chick reputation is sinking fast," Ari told them.
"And you'll totally get over it," Stiles told her bluntly.
Stacie gave Stiles a look.
Stiles gave Stacie an innocent look.
Stacie looked back at Ari. "You're a Werewolf. You don't need a 'biker loner chick reputation'."
"Says you," Ari replied.
"Now, other than looks, I'm starting to see a resemblance between you and Lydia," Stiles told her bitterly.
"Nah," Stacie told them. "She reminds me of Ariel from 'The Little Mermaid'."
Ari narrowed her eyes at both of them teasingly. "Watch it."
"It was meant as a compliment," Stacie told her innocently.
"Mine wasn't," Stiles told her. Ari scoffed. Scott was hiding behind a book. "I think the book's making it more obvious." Stiles grabbed the top of the book. Stacie plopped a chip into her mouth. Stiles looked behind him and Stacie. "Besides, she's reading anyway."
Scott peaked from behind the text book, looking at Allison reading her book. He looked back at Stiles. "Did you and Stacie come up with a plan yet?"
"I haven't," Stacie answered. "Stiles' the idea man. Ask him."
Stacie plopped another chip into her mouth, smiling as she chewed.
Ari looked at Stiles. "Did you?"
"I think so," Stiles told them, biting into his apple. He looked at Stacie. "Involves you getting into track equipment."
Stacie shrugged nonchalantly. "Okay."
"That's it?" Ari asked. "Just 'Okay'? You're not gonna ask why?" Stacie shrugged. Ari looked at Stiles. "Why her?"
"'Cause I'm on the track team," Stacie answered. She tilted her head. "And cross country."
"Good to know," Ari told her.
"Hey, you're the one that asked," Stacie pointed out.
Scott looked from Stiles to Stacie. "Does this mean neither of you hate us now?"
"I never hated you, so to speak," Stacie told them.
Stiles gave Stacie a look. "No." He looked at Ari and Scott. "But your crap has infiltrated our lives, so now we have to do something about it."
"Or you're not as pissed as you say you are," Stacie told him in a sing-song voice.
Stiles gave Stacie a sarcastic look. He looked at Ari and Scott "Plus, we're definitely better Yodas than Tara and Derek."
Stacie smiled.
"Okay, yeah, you guys teach us," Ari told them.
"Yeah, we'll be your Yodas," Stacie told them.
"Yeah, you'll be our Yodas," Scott agreed.
(Song:) You & Me - Diamond Rings
"Your Yodas we will be," Stiles told them in a fake deep voice. "I said it backwards."
"Yeah, we know," Ari told him.
"All right, you know, I definitely still hate both of you," Stiles told them, laughing evilly. "Ah ah! Oh, yeah!"
Stiles grabbed his bag the same time Stacie hit him on the back of his head. Stiles reached for Scott's book, snatching it away so he would get caught by Allison.
Stacie stood up, nearing Ari, grabbing her arm and pulling her with them, making her swing before standing. Stacie pulled Ari with her and Stiles.
Scott stood, grabbing his bag and starting to follow.
Allison saw him, closing her book. "Scott. Scott, wait."
Allison grabbed her things and started to follow.

Lacrosse Field
Stiles led the way through the bleachers. "Okay."
Both Stiles and Stacie had either lacrosse or track bags as Scott and Ari followed.
Stiles sat down on the right side of the bench.
"Why are we here again?" Ari asked, gesturing to her and Stacie in boredom.
"'Cause you're here all the time to see them get knocked on their asses," Stacie told her, tilting her head. "You even admitted that to me and Allison."
"True," Ari mused. "But why now?" She took the lacrosse stick from in Stacie's hand. "A, I don't play lacrosse, and, B, neither do you."
"Get over it," Stacie told her, taking the lacrosse stick back from Ari and sitting on the right side of the bench next to Stiles. "All right." She dug through her track bag and got out two straps, holding one out to Scott and one out to Ari. "Put these on."
"Aren't these the heart rate monitors for the track team?" Ari asked, looking at Stacie.
"Yeah," Stacie answered. "One's mine, I borrowed the other one."
"Stole it," Scott told her.
"Temporarily misappropriated," Stacie corrected in annoyance. "Coach uses it to monitor his heart rate with his phone while he jogs, and he has us do it too."
"You two are gonna wear them for the rest of the day," Stiles told them.
Scott looked down at the phone in Stacie's hand. "Isn't that Coach's phone?"
"That, I stole," Stacie admitted.
"Why?" Ari asked.
Stacie nodded to Stiles. "He told me to."
Ari looked to the side. "Why?"
"Well, your heart rate goes up when you guys go wolf, right?" Stiles asked. Scott and Ari nodded. Stiles looked at Scott. "When you're playing lacrosse, whenever you're with Allison." He looked between Scott and Ari. "Or when you get angry. Maybe learning how to control it is tied to learning how to control your heart rates."
(Song:) Get Closer - Life In Film
"Like the Incredible Hulk," Scott told them.
Stacie rolled her eyes.
"Kinda like the Incredible Hulk," Stiles agreed.
"I'm like the Incredible Hulk," Scott told them. He looked at Ari. "What would you be? Hela?"
Ari shook her head, turning away. "God, you guys are such nerds."
"Just shut up and put the straps on," Stacie told them.
Ari took off her leather jacket.

Later
Scott and Ari both had their hands tied together behind their backs with duct tape.
"This isn't exactly how I wanted to spend my free period," Ari told them.
"Free period?" Stacie repeated. "Oh, right."
"All right, guys," Stiles told them. "Ready?"
"No," Scott admitted.
"Remember, don't get angry," Stiles told them.
"Kinda hard for me," Ari told them. "Scott's used to be getting hit in the face with balls." Stacie laughed once in surprise. Stiles tried not to laugh. Scott looked at her weirdly. "He spent his human life lacrosse team doing that. Me? I'm not used to it at all. I'm gonna get a lot angrier, a lot faster."
Stacie looked around. "Ari, where's--"
"Would you guys stop calling me Ari?" Ari asked.
Stiles, Scott and Stacie answered together. "No."
Ari tilted her head.
Stacie sighed, giving her an innocent look back. "Oh, come on! You're a Werewolf. One of us weird ones. It's easier and faster than saying 'Arielle', so get over it." Ari sighed, tilting her head. "Now, where's your phone?"
"Leather jacket," Ari answered. Stacie looked around, but didn't see her jacket. Ari closed her eyes. "In your bag, genius."
Stacie knelt to the bag to sync Ari's phone with the heart monitor.
"I'm starting to think this is a really bad idea," Scott told them.
"What gave you the first clue?" Ari asked. She looked at Stiles and Stacie as Stacie stood. "Wait, whose idea was this?"
"Mine," Stiles answered.
Ari nodded. "Ah, that explains it."
Stiles gave Ari a sarcastic look. "Ha. Since Stacie's on the track team, she borrowed the monitors and Coach's phone."
"You mean stole," Scott told them.
"Yes," Stacie told them. "Stole! I'll put them back during practice tonight, so drop it."
Stiles picked up one of the balls with his stick, aiming directly for Scott, hitting him in the gut, and Scott bundled over it pain.
The beeping and number went up higher for Scott's monitor.
Ari chuckled.
Stacie swung up the net, the ball in place as she twirled the stick in her hands, the ball still in the net as she swung the stick in Ari's direction.
The ball hit Ari square in the jaw, cutting her off from her laughing.
Ari groaned in pain turning away. "That one kinda hurt."
The beeping and numbers for Ari's monitor went up higher.
Stacie looked down at the stick in her hands in surprise, impressed. "Huh. Never thought I had such good aim."
"Quiet," Stiles told them, looking at Ari and Scott. "Remember, you're supposed to be thinking about your heart rate, about staying calm."
"Stay calm," Scott repeated. Stiles threw another one at him, but he missed. "Stay calm." Scott jumped up and down. "Staying totally calm, no balls coming flying at my face." Stiles hit another ball into his shoulder. Stacie threw a ball into Ari's stomach. Ari ground her teeth in pain. Jackson was walking with his friends past the bleachers. As his friends kept walking, Jackson stopped, looking toward Ari, Scott, Stiles and Stacie. Jackson watched Stiles throw another ball toward Scott, smiling in confused amusement. Stiles threw another ball toward Scott. Scott groaned in pain. "Son of a bitch!"
Stacie looked toward Jackson standing behind the bleachers, laughing as he watched Stiles and Scott.
Stacie sighed, putting her stick to the ground, the top of it still in her hand as she spun it.
Ari gave Stacie a what the hell look. "Stacie, why aren't you doing anything?"
Stacie let a mysterious smile play on her lips. "There's a reason."
"What?" Ari asked.
"Your cousin's boy-toy watching us from afar," Stacie answered.
"Jackson?" Ari asked. "How'd you know?"
"He's not exactly hiding," Stacie told her.
Ari nodded to Stiles. "Yet Stiles is still doing this."
"'Cause he likes seeing someone getting hit in the face as much as you and I do," Stacie pointed out.
"Which, Jackson or Stiles?" Ari asked.
Stacie smiled. "Both."
"You know, I think my aim is actually improving," Stiles told them.
"Wonder why," Scott said in bitter sarcasm.
The beeping and the number for Scott's monitor got higher.
"Ah, buh, buh," Stiles told him. "Don't get angry."
"I'm not getting angry," Scott told them.
Stiles threw the next ball to Scott's leg.
Stacie winced. "Oh, that's excessive."
One, two, three, four, five, six.
Jackson shook his head, chuckling.
"You know, it doesn't help me if I'm not doing anything," Ari told them.
Stacie looked back to the bleachers. "Yeah, well, Jackson doesn't seem to want to go away."
Stiles twirled the stick in his hands. "Take her somewhere else."
Stacie looked at him from the corner of her eye. "Where?"
"I don't know," Stiles told her.
Ari cleared her throat. "Hey, uh, guys, still standing right here."
Stiles and Stacie looked at Ari. "Sorry."
Stiles was about to hit Scott again.
"Stop," Scott told him. "Just wait. Wait, just hold on."
Stiles hit him anyway.
Scott groaned as he fell, yelling.

Stacie looked down at Scott's heart monitor. 158. 161.
Stiles put his lacrosse stick down, picking up his phone, standing. "Scott?"
Scott ripped through the tape on his wrists, and kneeling on the ground, so no one would see him, his heart beating loudly.
"No, no, no, no," Ari whispered. Jackson leaned closer to the bleacher railing. After a second, Scott's heart monitor was slowing back down. Stiles and Stacie walked forward, stopping in front of Ari and Scott. Ari looked at Scott in concern. "Scott. You started to change."
"From anger," Scott told them. "But it was more than that. It's like the angrier I got, the stronger I felt."
"So it is anger, then," Stiles told them.
Stacie looked at Stiles, nodding. "Derek and Tara are right."
Scott shook his head. "I can't be around Allison."
"Just because she makes you happy?" Stiles asked.
Scott looked up. "No, because she makes me weak."

Boys' Locker Room
(Song:) Filthy Halls - Apple Horse
Scott and Stiles walked together.
"All right, so you stay away from her for a few days," Stiles told him. "You can do that."
"But is it a few days, or is it forever?" Scott asked.
Stiles put his lacrosse stick into the locker. "You know, this whole 'women make you weak' thing is a little too Spartan warrior for me. It's probably just part of the learning process. "
Scott was looking in his locker. "Yeah, but you've seen Derek and Tara. I mean, besides each other, they're totally alone. And they're siblings, so it doesn't count. What if it's not just like that for me, but for Ari, too? What if we can, like never have a real relationship?"
"You and Ari are not gonna end up like Derek and Tara, all right?" Stiles asked. "We'll figure it out."
"Okay," Scott told him.
"Come on," Stiles told him. "Let's get out of here."
Scott grabbed his bag, starting to follow him. "Something smells terrible in here, anyway."
"Really?" Stiles asked sarcastically. "In a boys' locker room? That doesn't make any sense at all."
"No, it's like something's rotting or dying," Scott told him.
Scott and Stiles walked out of the locker room.

Jackson walked out from behind the lockers, sweating, looking weak and tired. He leaned against the sink, holding the back of his neck. He hurriedly unbuttoned his shirt, taking it off, groaning as he did, pulling the bandage off of the back of his neck, revealing the claw marks. He looked at the blood on the bandage before dropping it.
Jackson was suddenly worse, looking as if he were about to vomit, the Alpha's clawed fingers climbing their way out.
Jackson leaned forward, all signs of the hallucination completely gone.

Fully clothed, Jackson walked toward Allison, who was sitting on the floor, reading the book. "What are you reading?"
Allison looked up in surprise. "Oh, hey. Uh... Just stuff for a history project."
"Mm," Jackson hummed, placing his bag on the floor and sitting next to Allison.
Allison looked around before looking at Jackson. "Did you have a free period, or..."
"No, I just don't like sitting through Chem," Jackson answered.
"Understandable," Allison told him. She looked at her book before looking back at Jackson. "Did... Did you want something?"
"Actually, yeah," Jackson answered. "I wanted to talk. I realize that I've been a jerk to you. And especially to Scott. And I wanted to say that I'm sorry." Allison looked away. "I'm serious."
"Okay, I..." Allison trailed off. "I believe you're being serious, but I'm not so sure I believe you're being sincere."
Jackson sighed. "Do you know what it's like to be the best player on the team? Hmm? To be the star? To have every single person at the game chanting your name? And then... Some kid... Some kid just comes along, and then everyone starts looking at him instead of you. Do you know what that feels like?"
Allison shook her head. "No, I don't."
"Well, it feels like something's been..." Jackson trailed off. "It feels like something's been stolen from you. And then you start to feel like you'd do anything.... Anything in the world to get it back."
"Haven't you ever learned there's no 'I' in 'team'?" Allison asked.
"Yeah, but there is a 'me'," Jackson told her. Allison looked away uncomfortably. Jackson chuckled. "That was a joke." Allison chuckled. "Gosh." Jackson rubbed the back of his neck. "You must really, really hate me."
Allison shook her head. "Not at all."
"You sure?" Jackson asked, lowering his hand. "Because I'm not a bad guy. I mean, yeah, I make stupid mistakes, a lot, but... I'm not bad. I really like you." Allison looked away, her mouth slightly open in shock. "And Scott. I really... I really like you both, and I want you guys to like me." Allison nodded. "I wanted to get to know you guys better." Jackson leaned closer. Allison leaned away. "So... What are you reading?"

Coach's Classroom
(Song:) Don't Wanna Go Home - Val Emmich
The bell rang.
Stiles walked toward a seat to sit down.
Stacie sat there first, giving him an innocent smile and wave.
Stiles gave her a sarcastic look back.
Ari smirked, rolling her eyes.
"Let's go," Coach told them. "Sit, sit, sit, sit. We got a lot to cover today. Quicker."
Allison walked toward Scott.
"Stiles or Ari--" Scott started. Ari gave Scott a look, but he went on. "Sit, sit, sit."
Allison got there first, so Stiles backed up, sitting behind Stacie while Ari sat in front of her.
"Hey," Allison told him.
Ari and Stacie exchanged glances.
"Hey," Scott replied.
"I haven't seen you all day," Allison told him.
"Uh, yeah, I've been super busy," Scott told her.
"When are you going to get your phone fixed?" Allison asked. "I feel like I'm totally disconnected from you."
"Uh, soon," Scott answered. "Real soon."
"I changed lab partners, by the way," Allison told him.
"Oh," Scott told her. "To who?"
"To you, dummy," Allison answered.
Ari tilted her head back in a you've gotta be kidding me motion.
"Me?" Scott asked. "I mean, are you sure?"
"Yeah," Allison answered. "This way, I have an excuse to bring you home to study. You don't mind, do you?"
(Song Ends)
"I just--I just don't wanna bring your grade down," Scott told her.
"Well, maybe I can bring your grade up," Allison told him. Ari, Stacie and Stiles rolled their eyes. "Come to my place tonight. 8:30?"
"Tonight?" Scott repeated.
Allison nodded. "8:30."
"Let's settle down," Coach called from the front. "Let's start with a quick summary of last night's reading." The guy directly in front of Ari raised his hand. "Greenburg, put your hand down. Everybody knows you did the reading. How about, uh, McCall?"
"What?" Scott asked.
"The reading," Coach told him.
"Last night's reading?" Scott asked.
"How about, uh, the reading of the Gettysburg address?" Coach suggested sarcastically.
"What?" Scott asked.
"That's sarcasm," Coach told him. "You familiar with the term 'sarcasm', McCall?"
Scott looked at Ari, Stacie and Stiles. "Very."
Ari shrugged one shoulder.
Stacie smiled.
Stiles tilted his head back with a smirk.
"Did you do the reading or not?" Coach asked.
"Uh..." Scott trailed off. "I think I forgot."
"Nice work, McCall," Coach told him. "It's not like you're averaging a 'D' in this class. Come on, buddy. You know I can't keep you on the team if you have a 'D'. How about you summarize, uh, the previous night's reading? No? How about the, uh, the night before that?"
The beeping and the numbers for Scott's monitor went up.
Ari, Stacie and Stiles all looked back at it.
"How about you summarize anything you've ever read?" Coach went on. "In your life."
92. 134.
"I--I, uh--" Scott stuttered.
"No?" Coach asked. "A blog? How about--uh, how about the back of a cereal box?" Even higher. "How about the adults only warning from your favorite website you visit every night? Anything?"
Ari and Stacie exchanged worried, secretive glances.
"Scott, keep calm," Ari whispered.
Even higher.
"Thank you, McCall," Coach told him sarcastically. "Thank you." Hitting his desk twice, he went on. "Thank you, McCall! Thank you for extinguishing any last flicker of hope I have for your generation. You just blew it for everybody. Thanks. Next practice, you can start with suicide runs. Unless that's too much reading."
The phone's beeping started to slow down, Scott's heart beat, retracing its steps.

Stacie looked back at Stiles, both of them and Ari looking over to Scott, trying to find what caused the difference.
Ari noticed first.

Ari pointed subtly, secretly over to Allison and Scott's hands linked together in between the two desks.
Scott had his head turned slightly toward Allison. He looked forward, completely calm.

"What do you mean?" Scott asked.
"It's Allison," Ari answered.
"Remember the night you told me of the full moon?" Stacie asked. "You were thinking about her, right? And me. About protecting her, and to make sure Derek hadn't hurt either of us."
Scott nodded. "Okay."
"Remember the night of the first lacrosse game?" Stiles asked. "You said you could hear her voice out on the field."
"Yeah, I did," Scott confirmed.
"Well, so then that's what brought you back so you could score, and then after the game in the locker room, you didn't kill her," Stiles told him. "At least not like you were trying to kill me."
"She brings you back is what we're saying," Ari told him.
"Oh, no, but it's not always true," Scott told them. "Because, literally every time I'm kissing her or touching her--"
"Don't bring that up, or I'm gonna be scarred for life," Stacie told him.
"Agreed," Ari told them.
Stiles ignored them, looking at Scott. "No, that's not the same. When you're doing that, you're just another hormonal teenager thinking about sex, you know?"
Scott smiled.
Stacie hit him. "You're thinking about sex right now, aren't you?"
"Yeah," Scott admitted, unfazed.
"Great," Ari told them, trying to change the subject. "Sorry, that's fine." She gestured to the class. "Back in the classroom, when she was holding your hand, that was different, okay? I don't think she makes you weak, I think she actually gives you control."
"It's kinda like an anchor," Stacie agreed, dumbing it down.
"You mean 'cause I love her," Scott told them.
Stacie and Ari spoke together. "Exactly."
Scott realized what he had just said. "Did I just say that?"
"Yes, you just said that," Stiles answered.
Scott chuckled. "I love her."
"That's great," Ari told them. "Now, moving on--"
"No, no, no," Scott cut her off. "Really. I'm totally in love with her."
"And that's beautiful," Stacie told him. "Now, before you go off and write a sonnet, can we figure this out, please? Because you obviously can't be around her all the time."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah," Scott told them. "Sorry. So, what do I do?"
Stacie put her hands up to her face. "I don't know. Yet." Stiles looked away, then back toward them with a weird look. "Oh, no, you're getting an idea, aren't you?"
"Yeah," Stiles answered.
"Is this gonna get us in trouble?" Ari asked.
"Maybe," Stiles answered.
"Is this idea gonna give either of us any physical pain?" Scott asked.
"You, yeah, definitely," Stiles answered. "Come on."
Stiles walked away.
Scott and Ari looked toward Stacie.
Stacie smiled, shaking her head, following Stiles.

Stiles grabbed on key, holding Scott's hand up for the key to be visible. "Hold them up like so." He looked back at the guys near the truck before looking at Scott. "Now, whatever happens, just think about Allison. Try to find her voice just like you did at the game. Got it?"

Scott nodded.
Ari and Stacie gave him a weird look.
Stiles looked around. "Okay." He looked from the guys to Scott. "Just keep holding it right there." Stiles looked at Ari and Stacie. "You two, follow me."
Stiles walked toward the truck, keys jingling.
Ari and Stacie followed.
"Oh, my God," Ari told him in realization. "No, you aren't..."
"What?" Stacie asked.
Stiles took his key and scratched it along the side of the truck.
"Oh, my God," Stacie told them.
Stiles pulled Stacie and Ari out of the way. "Play along."
"Okay," Stacie told them, looking toward Scott. "Hey, hey, hey, dude!"
"What do you think you're doing to that truck, bro?" Stiles asked.
One of the guys turned around, walking toward Scott. "What the hell?"
Scott hurriedly put the key away, shaking his head.
The guy punched Scott in the face, making him fall.
"Ow!" Stacie told them. "Oh, my God. Wow."
"Seriously?" Ari asked.
"Yep," Stiles answered.
Stacie nodded. "Nice."
Scott turned back to the one who punched him, tackling him.
Scott was kicked down, landing on his stomach, being pulled away.
The guy and his friends continued to beat Scott.
Stacie, Stiles and Ari looked down at the monitor.
The beeping and numbers for Scott's monitor got higher.
"Come on, stay calm," Ari told him. "Stay calm."
Stacie looked up to the beating of Scott. "Oh, that's not okay."

"I need your help," Tara told him. "If you can hear me, I need you to give me a sign. Blink. Raise a finger. Anything. Just..." She looked down. "Just something to point me and Derek in the right direction." She looked at his scars, looking down once more. "Someone killed Laura. Your niece. Laura." She still got no reply. "Whoever he is, he's an Alpha now. But he's one without a pack. Which means he's not as strong." She looked down. "Derek and I can take him. But we have to find him first. Look, if you know something, just give me a sign. Is it one of us? Did someone else make it out of the fire?" She slowly got more annoyed, no longer looking away. "Just give me anything. Blink, raise a finger, anything." She gripped his arms. "Say something!"
"Let him go," Jennifer the nurse told her. "You think that after six years of this, yelling at him is gonna get a response?"
"You got a better method?" Tara asked.
"Patience," Jennifer told her. "He'll respond if you give him the time."
Tara looked back at Peter, shaking her head. She looked at Jennifer. "I don't have anymore time."
Tara walked out, leaving.

"About what?" Tara asked. Derek gestured for her to come over to his side of the car. Tara walked around the car, taking the paper. She looked up in recognition. "This is what brought me and Laura here in the first place. Where did you get this?"

Harris looked toward them.

"I'm not angry anymore," Stiles answered. "Look, you and Ari have something, Scott. Okay, whether you guys want it or not, you can do things nobody else can do. So that means you don't have a choice anymore. It means you have to do something."
Ari sighed.
"I know," Scott told them.
"And we will," Ari agreed. "Even if we do hate it." Still facing forward, Ari sighed, making sure Harris wasn't listening. "Okay, Scott has his anchor. Allison. Where's mine?"

"Okay, you don't have a lot of friends, well, actually, none, and you pretty much hate Lydia, and your family's--" Stacie started.
"Okay, first of all, I don't hate Lydia," Ari told her. "Second, my family's not your business. Three... You're right about the first part."
"Okay..." Stacie trailed off. "Who's the one person you care about more than anyone?"
Ari looked away. "I don't have anyone."
"Oh, come on," Stacie told her. "Everybody's gotta have someone. Even if it's family or friends or more than friends..."
Ari sighed. "The only one?" She turned toward Stacie with a guarded expression. Stacie nodded. "The only person's been missing for four years."
"Adriana," Stacie told her sadly, looking down.
Ari nodded. "So, I don't have an anchor. I don't have control. The Alpha should've just killed me."
Ari turned around, starting to walk away.
Stacie kept up with her. "Hey, don't say that. That might not be true. You said that you felt like you were losing it this morning talking to your dad."
"I was," Ari confirmed.
"Well, what happened?" Stacie asked. "How'd it start, how'd you get it to stop?"
Ari sighed, looking like she was thinking, trying to remember. "He was talking to me for the longest time we'd talked in one day since she disappeared. He was asking questions with answers I couldn't necessarily give, and then he brought all of this crap into it, even Adri, and then he was trying to wrap it all back around to him. It made me so mad that he even brought it..."
Ari stopped in realization.
"What?" Stacie asked.
Ari started to nod. "When I thought that I was gonna lose control, I just... The only thing I could think about was that day in the woods. You, me, Adri, Natalie and Heather. You said, 'I'm gonna be the fastest girl in the world'."
Stacie smiled. "And Natalie said, 'Yeah, you wish.' That's what stopped you. You had a memory of all of us, and we brought you back. And unlike with Scott and Allison, those memories will always be with you."
Ari smiled. "So I'll always have control."
Ari laughed in surprise.
Stacie chuckled, her arm going over Ari's shoulders in an one-armed hug.
Ari tensed for a split second out of surprise as they started to walk out of view.
Stacie tilted her head. "Okay, it's a really bad case of human interaction rejectory if you're surprised by a hug."
They chuckled, walking along.

Night - Beacon Hills Animal Clinic - Outside
Someone walked toward the door, opening it, walking inside, making the bell over head ding.
¤•¤°¤•¤
Inside - Back Room
Deaton was standing alone. "Scott, you're late again. I hope this isn't getting to be a habit." Derek was walking into the back first. Tara stood in the doorframe. "Can I help you?"
"I hope so," Derek told him. "I wanna know about the animal you found with a spiral on its side."
Deaton frowned. "Excuse me? What animal?"
"Three months ago," Tara told him. "The deer."
"Oh, yes," Deaton told them, nodding. "It was just a deer. And I didn't find it, they called me because they wanted to know if I had ever seen anything like it."
"What'd you tell them?" Derek asked.
"I told them no," Deaton answered.
Tara looked to the side. "Did you hear that?"
Derek stepped forward.
Deaton stepped away, moving slowly to the side. "Hear what?"
"The sound of your heart beat rising," Tara answered, stepping further into the room.
Derek stood across from him at the metal table.
"Excuse me?" Deaton asked.
"That's the sound of you lying," Tara told him.
Derek grabbed the collar of his white jacket, pulling him over the table and knocking him unconscious.
¤•¤°¤•¤
Later
Deaton was awake, looking around. "Oh, God."
Tara was standing in front of him. "Are you protecting someone?"
"All right, the key to the drug locker is in my pocket--" Deaton started.
Derek was behind him, gripping his shoulders tightly from behind. "We don't want drugs. We want to know why you're lying."
"I don't know what you're talking about," Deaton told them. Derek nodded for Tara to move to the side. Tara stepped out of the way. Derek spun the chair around, lifting it from the floor. "What are you doing? What do you want?"
"I want to know who you are," Derek answered. "Or who you're protecting."
Tara looked to the doorframe as someone stepped in. She rolled her eyes and turned her head away.
"What are you doing?" Scott asked incredulously, flipping the light on.
Deaton turned his head. "Scott, get outta here!"
Derek put him on the floor again, punching him.
Scott ran over, pushing Tara out of the way to try to stop Derek.
Tara raised her eyebrows at Scott.
"Stop!" Scott told them. "Stop!"
"Look, when he's conscious, he can keep himself from healing, but unconscious, he can't," Derek told him.
"Are you out of your minds?" Scott asked incredulously. "What are you talking about?"
"You wanna know what the spiral means, Scott?" Derek asked. "It's our sign for a vendetta, for revenge. It means he won't stop killing until he's satisfied."
"You think he's the Alpha?" Scott asked.
"We're about to find out," Tara answered, stepping forward and reaching out to punch him hard enough to make him unconscious.
Scott gripped her wrist, shifted, growling at Tara.
Tara looked at Scott in surprise, slightly impressed.
Scott let go of Tara's wrist, letting her go, backing away and letting the features of the wolf fade away until he was looking ordinarily human again, looking back up to them. "Hit him again, and you'll see me get angry."

¤•¤°¤•¤
Scott was dabbing away the blood, cleaning the cut on Deaton's cheek.
Derek paced.
Tara stood there looking bored and restless.
Derek stopped pacing, walking up to Scott. "Do you have a plan?"
"Just give me an hour," Scott told them.
"Then what?" Tara asked.
Scott shook his head. "Meet me at the school. In the parking lot."
Derek was walking for the door.
Tara was looking at Scott with an emotionless look.
Derek stopped when he noticed his sister wasn't following. "Tara."
Tara slowly turned away from Scott, walking away and toward Derek and walking out, leaving.
Scott threw the gauze to the side.

Beacon Hills High School - Outside
Ari pulled up her bike to the school, Scott and Stiles in the Jeep behind her. They all stopped in front of Stacie, who was sitting on the concrete steps with her track bag and in running clothes, her hair pulled back into a ponytail.
Stiles and Scott got out of the Jeep.
Ari got off her bike.
Stacie stood from the stairs, walking closer.
All of them gathered at the trunk of the Jeep.
"This is a terrible idea," Ari told them.
"Yeah, I know," Scott told them.
"But we're still gonna do it?" Stacie asked.
"Can you think of something better?" Scott asked.
"Well, personally, I'm a fan of ignoring a problem until eventually it just goes away," Stiles told them.
"Just make sure we can get inside," Ari told them.
Derek and Tara pulled up in the Camaro.
Stiles got out a flashlight and bolt cutters.
"They're here," Stacie told them.
Derek and Tara got out.
"Where's my boss?" Scott asked.
"He's in the back," Tara answered.
Stiles, Scott, Stacie and Ari looked through the open window to the back seat.
Deaton was scratched up, unconscious, positioned uncomfortably.
"Oh, he looks comfortable," Stacie told them sarcastically.
Scott tapped on Stiles and Stacie's shoulders. They and Ari started to turn away.
"Wait, hey," Derek told them. "What are you doing?"
"You said we were linked with the Alpha," Ari told them, turning around. "We're gonna see if you're right."
They walked away.
Tara leaned against the Camaro with a sigh.

Inside - Office
Stiles, Scott, Ari and Stacie walked inside.
"Okay, one question," Stiles told them. "What are you gonna do if the Alpha doesn't show up?"
Stiles walked to the other side of the semi-wall, standing next to Stacie. Ari stood next to Scott.
"I don't know," Scott told them.
"And what are you gonna do if he does show up?" Stacie asked.
"I don't know," Scott repeated.
"Good plan," Ari told them sarcastically.
Scott looked at Ari. "I might need your help on this."
Ari sighed. "I know. All right. A wolf howls to signal his position to the rest of the pack."
"Right, but if you bring him here, does that make you guys apart of his pack?" Stacie asked.
"I hope not," Ari told them.
"Yeah, me too," Stacie told them.
Stiles moved the microphone to the PA closer to Ari and Scott up on the half-wall. "All right. All you."
Ari looked at Scott. "You first."
Scott cleared his throat and took a deep breath before letting out the worst howl. It was weak and high-pitched.
¤•¤°¤•¤
Outside
Scott's horrible howl could be heard through the PA.
Tara closed her eyes at the sound, in embarrassment. "You've gotta be kidding me."
Derek sighed, shaking his head.
¤•¤°¤•¤
Office
Stacie put her head in her hands as her elbows were holding her up against the semi-wall when Scott finished.
"Was that okay?" Scott asked. "I mean, that was a howl, right?"
"I--yeah, technically," Stiles told them.
"Well, what did it sound like to you guys?" Scott asked.
"Like a cat being choked to death, Scott," Stacie told him.
Stiles gestured his hand toward Stacie.
Scott took in a deep breath. "What do I do? How am I supposed to do this?"
"Hey," Ari told him. "Listen to me. We're calling the Alpha, all right? Be a man. Be a Werewolf. Not a teen wolf. Be a Werewolf. Let's do it."
Ari and Scott took a deep breath.
Ari's eyes glowed blue.
Scott's eyes glowed gold.
The howls were so different yet the same.
Scott's was really deep, almost raspy, and very, very loud.
Ari's was more feminine, clear, but still very loud.
¤•¤°¤•¤
Hallways
The howls made the doors and lockers and combination locks shake and rattle.
¤•¤°¤•¤
Outside
Tara and Derek both looked around.
Derek turned to look at the school.
¤•¤°¤•¤
Math Class
Pieces of chalk rattled against the board.
¤•¤°¤•¤
Outside
Derek pointed at Stiles, Scott, Ari and Stacie. "I'm gonna kill all of you."
"What the hell was that?" Tara asked. "What are you trying to do, attract the entire state to the school?"
"Sorry," Ari told them. "Didn't know it would be that loud."
"Yeah, it was loud," Stacie told them, smiling and chuckling.
"And it was awesome!" Stiles told them, singing the last word in a high-pitched voice.
Tara looked at Stiles and Stacie. "Shut up."
"Don't be such a sour wolf," Stacie told her.
Something was watching them in the distance, growling.
Scott's hand reached to Stiles stomach. He looked in the back of the Camaro. "What did you guys do with him?"
"What?" Tara asked, both turning around.
Deaton was gone.
Derek turned back to them. "We didn't do anything."
The Alpha growled as he stabbed his claws in both Derek and Tara's backs, raising them in the air, blood coming out of their mouths, overflowing down their chins.
Stacie, Scott, Stiles and Ari were horrified, already running for the school.
The Alpha threw Derek into the brick wall twenty feet away. He threw Tara.
Derek and Tara fell to the ground. Derek's eyes were still open. Tara's eyes were closed.
¤•¤°¤•¤
Inside
Stacie, Stiles, Ari and Scott ran inside, closing the door and kneeling to the floor to remain unseen.
¤•¤°¤•¤
Outside
The Alpha was gone.

1.07 "Night School" Trailer
From 1.07 "Night School", in BHHS' hallway, Stacie, Stiles, Scott and Ari ran inside the double doors into the dark, deserted school. Scott and Ari turned immediately toward the double doors, holding them closed.
Lydia: (voice over) "Next on Worlds Colliding (Teen Wolf)"
From 1.07 "Night School", in BHHS' cafeteria, Stacie and Stiles burst through the doors while Scott, Allison, Ari, Jackson and Lydia followed.
"Can somebody please explain to me what's going on?" Allison asked. "Because I'm freaking out here and I would like to know why."
From 1.07 "Night School", in a classroom, Scott, Stiles, Ari and Stacie were talking.
Stiles looked at Scott. "Deaton, the Alpha? Your boss."
"That can't be," Scott told them.
"He killed Derek and Tara," Stacie told him in all seriousness.
"No," Scott argued. "Derek and Tara aren't dead. They can't be."
"They're dead, and we're next," Stiles told them.
From 1.07 "Night School", outside BHHS, Jackson and Allison were walking toward the school ahead of them.
Allison started to walk away.
"Hey, Allison," Jackson told her.
Allison turned back to him with a small smile. "You have this look like you're about to say 'Be careful'."
Lydia looked at them from next to the car. She looked a little jealous.
From 1.07 "Night School", in the cafeteria, Stacie looked up at Jackson. Jackson looked back down at Stacie, both giving each other a hard, cold look.
"Let me go," Stacie told him.
Ari walked forward in annoyance, grabbing Jackson's shoulder and gently pushed, making him let Stacie go, but not hard enough to make him angry at her too.
Stacie started to walk away.
Jackson walked forward, grabbing Stacie's arm again.
Stacie punched Jackson in the face hard enough to make him let her go and fall to the floor.
Everyone looked at Stacie in surprise.
The doors banged against the barricade.
Allison, Scott, Stiles, Stacie, Ari, Lydia and Jackson huddled together.
Stiles was on the phone. "We're at the school. Dad, we're at the school."
The doors threatened to wrench open, coming undone, pushing and pushing.
Everybody turned around, running toward the kitchen, through the double doors and up
From 1.07 "Night School", in the hallway, Stiles, Scott, Ari and Stacie walked out of the boys' locker room.
A man was yanked back into the locker room, the Alpha growling while the man screamed, being pushed against the translucent window of the door, blood smearing on the glass.
Stiles: (voice over from 1.07 Night School) "I'm not dying here."
From 1.07 "Night School", in the gym, Scott and Ari turned, starting to run away.
The Alpha grabbed at their ankles, pulling them down. It hit them with both of its claws. They both slid across the floor.
Stacie: (voice over from 1.07 Night School) "I'm not dying at school."
Scott tried to grab of Ari's arm so they could run.
The Alpha easily put a claw on both of them to keep them down along with its hind legs. It looked up and howled a big, deep, scary, evil howl that shook the school.
