CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT

HALA'S P.O.V

I woke up the next morning with the sun shining in my face. I slowly sat up and yawned. What time was it? I looked over to the alarm clock and saw that it was 8 in the morning. Why am I up so earlier? I was about to go back to sleep when a piece of paper on the night stand caught my eye. I picked it up and realized it was a note. From Sean.

Hala,

I know you're gonna hate me for this but it had to be done. By the time you read this, Chris and I will probably already be in New York. Our flight left around 6 in the morning. I'm really sorry Hala, I didn't want you to get hurt, this is really between me and Katrina. Knowing you almost died I can not let you go anywhere near her. I just want you to know, I love you with all my heart. Please be safe babe and I'll be back soon <3

Sean

You have got to freakin' kidding me! That little shit went to New York. I clenched my fist then unclenched them, throwing my hands up in frustration. Of course he wouldn't listen, it's Sean we're talking about, he never listens. Okay think Hala, think. He thinks leaving to New York without me will stop me from coming? Well he's wrong. I rushed out of bed and into the bathroom, showering and getting dressed. I then pulled out a big duffle bag, throwing a bunch of clothes and makeup in. I packed up extra because I wasn't sure on how long I'll be in New York. I grabbed my purse, stuffing my wallet, phone and passport into it. I grabbed the duffle bag and quietly opened the door, making sure to not make a sound. My mom was still asleep so I quietly but quickly ran down the stairs. I wrote a quick note to my mom, telling her where I was and that I was okay.

I grabbed the keys heading out the door and towards my car. I threw everything into the back seat and got in starting up the car. But before I drove off to the airport, I grabbed my phone and dialed a number.

"Hello?"

"Chris. It's Hala. We need to talk and you need to listen very carefully."

I got off the plane and went right to the baggage claim. Grabbing all my things, I walked towards the lounge, only to see Chris standing there with his hands shoved in his pockets. I walked straight up to him, and looked around.

"I didn't tell him, don't worry." He told me.

I sighed in relief and nodded. "Good. So where are you guys staying?"

"My apartment." He said with no emotion as he began to walk.

I furrowed my eyebrows and quickly caught up to him. "What's wrong with you sour puss?"

He shook his head. "You do realize Sean will kill me for doing this."

I rolled my eyes. "Well I'll make sure he doesn't." I then began to smirk, "are you scared of him?"

He laughed. "No. But I made a deal with him to keep you safe and I'm trying to show him that I'm a good person by keeping my word. But you doing this doesn't really help anything."

I sighed. "I came here to help. I want you two to be safe, I don't want to stay home to only find out one of you got hurt. So like it or not, I'm helping." I looked up to Chris and saw that he began to smirk.

"Oh so you suddenly care about me now?"

I glared. "Dumbass." I walked ahead of him and out to the parking lot. We both got into the car and he drove off, heading over to where he and Sean were staying.

Chris and I both stood in front of the door to his apartment. I was kinda freaking out because I really didn't know how Sean would react. Would he be mad? Oh who am I kidding, of course he would! But that didn't really matter because I was sort of pissed off that he left. I shook the feeling away and followed Chris into the apartment.

The apartment was bigger then I expected. And to my surprise it was really nice. I thought it would of been some worn out apartment...But I guess not.

"Chris? Where were y-" Sean came out of the kitchen, but stopped talking once he saw me.

"Hala? What the hell are you doing here?!" He asked in shock, he eyes had a glint of happiness but also was filled with anger. He suddenly turned to Chris, his eyes filling with rage and he lunged towards him. I quickly moved in front of Chris, blocking him from any harm. I stomped towards Sean and shoved him back angrily.

"The question is, what the hell are you doing here?! I told you I was going to come along with you and what do you do? You secretly leave before I find out."

"I-" I cut him off.

"No, don't tell me the 'I'll protect you' crap. I came here to help and protect YOU." I said, jabbing my finger at his chest, "what would you do if something happened to you? And I wouldn't be there with you?"

He sighed. "That's a chance I'm willing to take."

Chris suddenly stepped in. "Here's a thought, how about you BOTH stick with each other and protect one another. Am I right?"

Both Sean and I turned towards him. "Shut up!" We yelled in sync.

Chris threw his hands up in surrender. "I'm just saying. I swear you both are like an old married couple."

I sighed and shook my head. "Whe-"

"Down the hall to your right." Chris said, grabbing my bags and leading me to the spare room. As I followed Chris, all I hear is Sean letting out a frustrated sigh before throwing himself on the couch. I shook my head in annoyance and left him there.
