XI
(unedited)
If Jungkook had thought Jimin was a moon fairy with a gold heart on the night of their meeting, he sure seemed like the ice Prince now.
Jungkook knew how his marriage with Ji-young was not just about him marrying, but giving his dad's company a heir since Ji-young would run it the company on behalf of Jungkook. When his dad said he will figure out something be wasn't exactly sure what his dad meant. But yesterday evening his dad cleared all his questions.
"Jungkook will you marry Park Jimin?"
Mr. Park told Mr. Jeon that his son was also interested in men, and looking for a husband.
"Jeon, I have always wanted your son to be part of my family, and I think Jimin will also like this idea" said Mr. Park.
Mr. Jeon gladly accepted the offer, not much in the plan he had for his son and the future of the company would change, except this time the person marrying his son would be a guy, which he really didn't mind. All he needed was Jungkook's agreement.
Obviously Jungkook didn't straight up wanted to marry him, but the idea of getting to know him more, dating him excited him so much that he agreed.
The man with the kind smile and kinder words sat in front of him, visibly suppressing a scowl. With sharp eyes, highlighted by dark circles and a rigid posture, the person in front of him was perhaps not the one Jungkook was giddy with butterflies to meet.
Still Jimin tried his best to give him a not-so-tired smile and engaged in light conversation. The frankly intimidating man in front of him might not be the silky silver-haired angel from that night, but the hint of him was still there.
So Jungkook sat there nervously, fiddling with his fingers. The usual pit in his stomach seemed to be filled with butterflies today. He felt like a high schooler on his first date.
Which it was, for him. Well, unless you count the girls. But they never gave him butterflies, moths maybe.
When his father had proposed this set up, he wanted to jump with excitement. The slight coldness in the man's tone had set him on edge a little bit, but he was optimistic nonetheless.
"I can't marry you because I'm in love with someone else"
Oh.
The butteflies halted. They struck the inside of his stomach one by one died down, falling into the ever-present pit at the bottom. Hid first reaction was dissapointment. God, he was so excited. Like a little kid, he got his hopes up to. How could he be so stupid.
It was then followed by a bubble of irritation, especially at the passive look on Jimin's face.
"Well then why did you come here?what are we even doing right now?" He said. why did you waste my time? He thought to himself.
"I... I had to.. for reasons." He hesitated, making bubble of irritation in Jungkook's chest grow.
"Reasons?" He raised an eyebrow.
"Look I'm sorry I can't explain this very well, but I was hoping that I could convince you to call this... arrangement off."
"You want me to call it off? And why on earth should I do that?" Jungkook leaned back.
"I can't do it. My...father won't let me." Jimin pressed his lips into a firm line. "Jungkook, you're a great guy, you deserve someone who can do this properly, and because he wants to, not because he was forced to. And you will find that person, it just won't be me. I'm sorry. But please, I need your help this one time, and then we won't ever have to see each other again."
That's the problem. Jungkook bit his lip. I want to see you. I want you to be that person. Why can't I have you?
There was silence for some time as Jungkook contemplated what he should do in this situation. After about a minute, he lifterd his almost empty cup and gulped the last of his coffee, he grabbed his coat from the back of his chair and got up, throwing it on along with his ridiculously huge bucket hat.
He was about the leave when Jimin grabbed his arm. He froze in his steps. "Please, Jungkook." The silver haired man whispered.
Jungkook sighed, punching himself internally. "I'll see what I can do, Jimin." He pulled up his mask and left.
Jungkook tried not to run, as tears stung the back of his eye. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.
He slid into his car and slammed the door, trying to tell the man in the front seat to drive without letting him hear the quiver in his voice.
In the backseat of his car Jungkook let out the loudest groan. Thinking back on the events that occurred just a few minutes ago, he punched the back of the front seat.
He had been confused sitting in front of the angelic man with devil words. But now it made sense to him. Of course it did. Jungkook had been so revolting and boring on the first friggin date that Jimin had to come up with that hilariously lame excuse to get out of this situation. That's obviously what happened.
Jungkook scoffed. It might have been better if Jimin had just straight up rejected him, or even not showed up in the first place, that might have been less brutal than this.
He banged his head on the headrest, his driver raised an eyebrow in the rearview mirror. "Are you ok Mr. Jeon?"
Jungkook fought back the sting in his eyes and cringed at the break in his voice "Y-yes."

Jungkook stood outside his father's office with a hand on the doorknob. Was he really gonna do this?
What was he even gonna say? Hey dad the marriage you set up for me is off because I'm such and absolute bore of an human being that my would-have-been fiance decided I'm not even worth properly ending the first date, let alone going on a second one.
His heart dropped a little at his own thoughts. He really liked Jimin, he was the first guy that Jungkook actually seemed to have any sort of real chance with.
And he was such a kind person, that night Jungkook's heart had fluttered like never before. The words he said would stay with him forever. And the way he looked absolutely magnificent in the moonlight, like an angel who came from the heavens to save him.
Well I guess that's kinda basic of Jungkook, falling for the first pretty guy that is nice to him.
But would he really have to let all that go just because he fucked up a first date? He had more confidence in himself than that right? And Jimin's whole thing HAD been an excuse to get out of this arrangement quick?
If only, he could get another chance. Maybe he could show Jimin the fun, intersting, talented man all of his fans saw in him.
Jungkook sighed, twisting the knob and entering his father's home office.
