As I walked down the hallway to my room, I decided to take a quick detour into Alex's room, situated right across from mine.

I knocked on his door and patiently waited for a reply.

"Come in, my oh-so-ugly twin," He called out.

I rolled my eyes but grasped the doorknob between my slender fingers and twisted. The door opened to reveal a childlike Alex planted, what only had to be inches, from his tv.

"Yeah, what do you want?" He asked, not removing his eyes from the screen as he furiously tapped buttons on his control.

"I just wanted to say thanks for giving my number to Lily," I spoke, my eyes boring into the side of his head.

"Yeah, sure, whatever," he replied disinterestedly as he squinted his eyes at the screen.

"I didn't know you had a lunch period with her," I continued, wanting to interrupt his stupid video games.

Alex pressed a button on his control that seemed to pause the whole screen. He dropped his remote and spun around to face me. His face scrunched up as he scrutinised me, almost waiting for me to tell him I was lying.

"I don't," he paused, "-have a lunch period with her, I mean."

My eyebrows furrowed at his confession.

"What? What do you mean?"

"I mean I don't have lunch period with her," he said extremely slowly.

I walked closer towards him and sat on the edge of the bed, facing him.

"So how did you give her my number?"

"You mean she didn't tell you? He questioned, a look of disbelief upon his face.

"Tell me what?" I asked, tilting my head to the side in wonder.

My curiosity must have confirmed his disbelief as he replied.

"She showed up to the gay and lesbians social club. She's our newest member."

"I thought you said you were a confident driver?" I shouted fearfully.

"I am a confident driver," Lily pointed out, as she swerved dangerously across the road.

"You almost ran over that old lady!" I shrieked, pointing behind us.

"Yeah, confidently though."

It was only twenty minutes ago I had asked Lily to come pick me up for a shopping trip, which she had agreed to in a matter of seconds. And now that she was driving, I was very much aware of her lack of driving skills, and very much frightened.

Lily entered the almost empty parking lot and reversed, very doggedly, into a vacant parking space. As we hopped out, it took only a glance at the red beetle to realise she had in fact taken up two parking spots, as she parked on an awkward slant.

I shook my head and followed after Lily who was skipping through the mall entrance.

"Ooh, Cass! I love that shop!" She shrieked and pointed ahead of us.

What do you know, it was the first shop you would see as soon as you walked in.

I rolled my eyes at her, "Let's go then."

She grabbed my hand and dragged me into Hollister. As soon as we entered, she had grabbed many items off random racks and piled them up in her slim arms.

"Oh my, Cassie! Try these on," she said and threw a pair of ripped skinny jeans at my face.

I grasped the denim material between my fingers and glared at Lily, stomping off to the change rooms and entering a vacant room.

I quickly stripped out of my black leggings and shimmied into the jeans. I did up the zipper and the button and then faced the mirror.

Cute. They were very cute.

"Come out so I can see how they look," I heard Lily say from the opposite side of the door. I unlocked the door and walked out to face Lily.

"Do they fit okay?" I asked, doing an awkward half turn.

"Um, yes! Girl, look how well they shape your butt," she said, her gaze lingering on my behind.

My cheeks blazed red as I mumbled an inaudible 'thank you' and rushed back into the change room. I hurriedly changed back into my leggings and almost ran to the cash register with jeans in hand.

After we both paid, we decided to make our way towards the food court as we were both hungry.

I stood next to Lily and waited for my food. I had ordered a chicken burger with an ice tea and Lily a wrap with a Coke. Our names were called and we gathered our food and rushed to an empty table.

As soon as we had sat down, Lily had started rambling, and it's safe to say I was only half listening to what she was ranting on about.

"-and then I was like, 'dude, no. That's my burrito.' And he was all li-," I had cut her off before she could continue.

"Lily."

"Yes?" She answered, leaning down to take a sip of her drink as she eyed me wearily.

I didn't exactly know how to ask her with offending her, so I decided to be blunt.

"Are you gay?"

I could tell the question shocked her as her lips froze around the straw. She straightened up and furrowed her eyebrows as she studied me.

"Yes," she said after a while.

"Oh," I mumbled, dropping my gaze to the table.

"Why? Is there something wrong with that? Going to call me a dyke or some shit now?" She whispered, her face contorting with sadness.

My head snapped up and my eyes widened at her question.

"No!" I blurted out.

"No?"

"No! I would never say any of that, Lily. I have nothing wrong with you being gay. I just wish you would have told me before I had found out," I explained as I watched her eyes soften.

"You accept me?" She asked almost excitedly.

"Of course I do," I laughed when she started bouncing in her seat.

"So we're still besties forevies?"

"Yes!" I giggled at her happiness.

Lily sent me a grateful smile before she continued to eat and ramble on about an old man who tried to hit on her, as I listened with a soft smile.

She surely was an unusual one, but that made me all the more excited to call her my friend.

As she continued to ramble on, an odd thought came across my mind.

"Hey, Lily," I interrupted, "I have a question."

Lily paused and waved her hand in a proceeding manner, "Hit me with it, sister."

Nervously I spoke, "Um, so, I receive these, um, love letters? But I don't know who from. And I spoke to Alex about it, and he said I should try and figure out who the person is. So I thought, why not recruit my best friend? So if you would be willing-,"

"Yes! I'm in," she shouted with a gleeful smile on her face. "Count me the frick-frack in. Let's find this human!"

I chuckled at her spontaneous response, "thank you, Lily. You're the best."

Lily scoffed and flipped her hair behind her shoulder in a sassy manner, "bitch, I know. I'm like amazing. Like, if Nancy Drew and Sherlock Holmes had a love child, it would be me. I'm that love child."

I shook my head at her silly antics and stood up, gathering up all the trash and walking over to the bin. Quickly disposing of the trash, I took my phone out of my pocket to check for any messages. And surely enough, Alex had messaged me.

Alex: You alive?

I laughed and quickly type a reply,

Cass: Unfortunately, yes.

The little typing bubble appeared before my phone vibrated with a message.

Alex: You're so gay.

Cass: Nah pretty sure that's all you xD

Alex: Only for Hunky Hunter ;)

Cass: You're so gross. He's straight.

Alex: Don't be raining on my parade like that. Stupid ass.

Shaking my head at my brother, I pocketed my phone and headed back towards Lily, who was now speaking to a guy. Walking a little quicker, I reached the couple and realised the guy was Hunter.

Lily, as per usual, was rambling poor Hunter's ear off, whilst Hunter looked extremely perplexed and uncomfortable. As I reached them, Hunter's eyes darted to me as he sent me a pleading look.

I sent him a look of affirmation and grabbed onto Lily's forearm. Knowing I would regret what I was about to say, I scrunched my eyes up and sighed.

"Hey, Lil, why don't you head into Victoria Secret and pick out something for me?" I questioned in attempt to divert this conversation elsewhere.

Lily had been begging me all day to let her choose me some 'sexy shit' from the doomed store, but I politely declined due to the fact that there was no need for anything 'sexy'. I mean nobody was going to see it! It was only me!

Lily's eyes lit up as she squeaked, "Ooh! Be right back on the ASAP."

As she ran off into the store, I turned to face Hunter and sent him an apologetic look.

"I'm so sorry about her," I frowned.

"Nah, she's cool," he laughed, his eyes glinting, "different, but cool."

I nodded, "different indeed."

"I have to head off, see you around, Cass," he stated, sending me a sweet smile, showcasing his pearly whites.

"Bye, Hunter."

As he brushed passed me, he took a few strides before he stopped and looked back, "Say hi to Alex for me," he said with a wink, before he tuned back around and continued walking.

"I got some sexy shit!"

in my defence i have literally just completed my final year of school so i had my final exams to study for so i lowkey went MIA on everything

but i'm back and better and i promise i'll try update more frequently
