Chapter Eighteen: Orbit

A/n: Thank you to all of the people reading my story!!! I hope you continue to support my book until this is done. We are about to make the storyline more intense, after all. War is brewing between Hyun Woo and Takahiko. :)

"Can't believe it's been a long time," Ryota muttered while staring at his calendar in his room while lying down his single bed. "It's already September 1, 2023..."

He still could remember that it was way back February 25 when he was sent by the JSA to work in South Korea to work with the South Korean Police and find ways to investigate Arima Takahiko's faults. At first, he was unhappy as he didn't want to be too far away from his wife but he found Kaori again. He also found his bestfriend who turned out to be South Korean. At first, he was thrilled and happy but as far as he could remember, Kaori changed her name to Jang Anna and she seemed she would have no intention into returning as Miyazono Kaori as she seemed to be wishing to return back again with Hyun Woo. She's still in love with him despite everything her husband might have done as one of the most powerful chairmen and CEO in South Korea. Slowly, he rose once again on his bed, opened a bottle of Soju and poured it on the small soju bottle on his table.

"I can't believe that I would be a shitty investigator of a conglomerate man," he sighed. "I can understand now why Anna and Hyun Woo divorced."

At the time he turned on his television, he was very much surprised when he saw news that Hyun Woo and a certain South Korean actress named Kim Ji Eun were dating. He almost choked at the possibility as he had never seen the woman. "Is that even true?"

'Ms. Kim Ji Eun and CEO Lee Hyun Woo looks like to dating for four weeks now.'- spoke the reporter over the SBC news. 'Fans of Kim Ji Eun were thrilled and happy for the couple and hopes for the best. Even so, many of her fans were also worried since it would be remembered that he had just had his divorce three months ago."

...

The next day, while he was in the cafe, he kept hearing people talking about Hyun Woo's possible new affair.

"Ms. Kim Ji Eun and CEO Lee Hyun Woo are really dating!" spoke a young woman who was staring at her phone with her three friends. "Is she okay? She's a gold digger, isn't she, Sanha?"

"What are you talking about?" Sanha replied after she snatched her phone. "Why do you even care? It's not like you know your cousin very well, Haeri."

"Didn't you hear me?" snickered Haeri. "Wasn't talking about my cousin but his new girl."

"He's divorced with his first wife," Sanha reminded her. "It's fine for him to fall for another woman again."

"You know how close I am with Chae Won," Haeri said after she took back her phone from him. "She knows his oppa very well."

"I've seen them together on a huge party, though," Eun Chul told her after the ice for their beer came. "He was still with his first wife when they met. I think they've had an affair already even before he finalized the divorce."

"Don't dare accuse my cousin for cheating against his first wife!" Haeri screamed. "Eun Chul, don't assume or spread anything malicious, would you? Don't you remember that you're a paralegal of his attorney?"

"Why would I?" he replied. "I saw her flirting with your cousin last year."

"May I interrupt your conversation?" Ryota said while he was clutching his coffee bottle. He was careful not to grip it too tight. "Is Hyun Woo really having a new affair?"

Haeri stared at him. "Who are you? Why do you want to know about my cousin's life?"

"Who am I?" Ryota sneered. "I am—"

"What are you doing here?" Jane Lee asked him. "I heard you talked to Anna three days ago."

"Mom!" Haeri hugged her mom immediately upon seeing her, then, she looked again at Ryota. "You know him?"

"He's Hyun Woo's personal investigator, Haeri," Jane answered her while her friends rose up and bowed a bit before her to show their respect to her.

"You're oppa's investigator?" Haeri asked him. "You interrupted our conversation. What it's about?"

Ryota grumbled if he would really ask her about Hyun Woo's girlfriend. He placed his hands together on his pocket and slowly, he asked her, "Is he really having an affair with an actress? He had just had his divorce. Chae Won and his uncles are pretty much worried because of his break up with his wife."

"Tae Jun will give a statement, soon," Jane replied to him. "Anna failed to do his part as his wife and so, we were very much happy when Hyun Woo agreed to meet with her secretly for several weeks now. I'm sure Ji Eun will be able to carry the burden of staying beside him."

Eun Chul had to drink a whole bottle of his beer when he heard Jane say that to Ryota. He truly assumed too much.

"Go on your way," Jane added. "Anna will need some comfort. Let Ji Eun and Hyun Woo happy."

"Is he going to cut off his connections with us after I get to arrest Takahiko?" Ryota muttered. "Am I really too hung up on the past like Anna said?"

"The cafe is too busy a place for you to ask that to me." Jane passed a business card to him and after a while, she whispered, "Meet me at my office, okay?"

"You Lees planned this for him, wasn't it?" Ryota asked while he was clutching his left fist. "He had just his divorce!"

After that, he ran out of the cafe restaurant with a thick envelope containing documents about Takahiko's possible corruption in South Korea and Japan.

"What's wrong with that guy?" Haeri asked her mother. "He may make a scene somewhere."

...

Instead of going to Anna, he went immediately in the LH Headquarters to demand to see Hyun Woo. Since he's pretty much already known to be in the inner circle of their chairman, he was able to pass through immediately but it was still a shock to Gi Hoon who was with Hyun Woo in his office when Ryota dropped off a heavy brown envelope in his center table. "Should I report to you today or not? You and I are already convinced that the man who killed your father was Takahiko, after all."

"Do you have a problem with me?" Hyun Woo asked him. "Are you still expecting that I treat you like a friend?"

"For damn sake, you dipshit!" Ryota can't contain his anger anymore. "I can't believe that I don't really know who you are. That friend I knew doesn't really exist, am I right?"

Hyun Woo smiled at him, as if mocking him for discovering how dangerous he truly was. "At least you know now that I am not who you thought I'd be. Takahiko killed my father. Do you think that is easy for me to accept? I may have erased that in my memory to protect myself for five years since I considered him my father for fifteen years."

"I'm sorry to ask a personal question, Hyun Woo," Ryota sighed. "It's all over the news, after all."

Hyun Woo sat back again on his leather seat and removed his dark green coat. "Am I dating Kim Ji Eun? Was that your question?"

"If that's true—" Ryota sighed. "What about—"

"Anna?" he asked him. "I was the one who approached Ji Eun a month ago. It wasn't serious until we finally knew we actually like each other. She helped me move on and assured me that she will do her best to accept how I handle my business. Also, it's a perfect opportunity for both sides."

"Both sides?"

Gi Hoon answered him. "Kim Ji Eun will be connected to the LH Group while we are going to be connected to President Kim Seo Won."

"Shibal!" Ryota screamed. "You damn conglomerate sick son of a child!!! Are you serious? That woman is a daughter of the current president of South Korea? Why do you even need her? You're powerful enough!"

"Say sorry to Chairman Lee, Mr. Watari Ryota," Gi Hoon said to him. "I told you his past to help him, not insult Chairman Lee."

"He doesn't need to, Hoon," Hyun Woo told him. "He doesn't know who I truly am, after all. He can curse me out if he wants."

"Well, yeah." Ryota sat on the black couch after that and found that he has an expensive red wine on his center table. "I didn't know conglomerates are all crocodiles."

Hyun Woo poured one for himself, too. "Hand all the documents you have to the Supreme Prosecutor's Office. Don't hand them over to JIA or JSA. If I discover that you did, I'd file espionage on you."

"What are you talking about?" Ryota asked after he was done drinking the wine on his cup. "Are you going to endanger my job?"

"Why choose to be a spy, anyway?" Hyun Woo asked him. "You're here as just my investigator. I've sent someone to handle your resignation. Work as my investigator and you'd have a better life."

Watari Ryota didn't know what to say to him after that as he had just remained silent. It was a good offer but that may also mean that he had to immigrate in South Korea and permanently live in Seoul. "Where would I even live here? I just jump hotel to hotel."

Gi Hoon handed him a key. "He knows you need a room. Go to Daechi-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. He bought an expensive officetel for you."

"You don't even need to do this," Ryota told him. "Also—"

"Call the press after Ryota arrived in his new home, Hoon," Hyun Woo said to him. "We'll declare war against a rival conglomerate group, after all."

Ryota was, of course, thrilled to have a huge connection with Hyun Woo but at the same time, afraid to have him as his boss. He's a dangerous man, and respected by a lot of people, after all. At the same time, he felt his dark aura emanating out of him. Since he was able to get back his old memories already, he knew that Gi Hoon was right, after all. He had woken up a dragon.
