Chapter 17 - Fated Satelles

Moonbeam's POV

"What happened? What. Happened??" I could tell Ryker was getting angry now. His eyes were dilating and his nostrils were flaring.

"I don't understand. Why are you getting upset?" I reached for him but he backed away. My heart broke and an involuntary whimper left my mouth. His head snapped towards me and his eyes went back to normal. His eyes softened and he rushed next to my bedside.

"I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to. I was just getting angry because I wasn't able to prevent this. I'm supposed to protect you and be there for you but here you are, in pain, lying on a hospital bed for who knows why!" I timidly reached for his hand. I was scared he would pull away again.

He noticed my reluctance and he grimaced. He took my hand into his gently and sat next to me on the bed. I sighed and laid my head on his shoulder.

"It's okay. Nothing is wrong. I just came into my powers, no biggie. I'll be all better soon and then I can start training for the war." Ryker shook his head at me and smiled.

"What?"

"Even though you are hurt and in pain, I'm sure, you still worry about training." We both laughed at that. It wasn't that funny but after everything I think we just wanted, no needed, to laugh about something, anything.

"Anyways, the doc tested my strength, speed, and knowledge. Apparently, I'm stronger than before, faster than a Vampire, and I don't know about the knowledge part...I think I did well though so no worries."

"Your doctor had you test the day you woke up?! What the heck is wrong with him?! You need rest or else you won't be able to heal as fast as you should."

"It's okay, Ryker. I'm pretty much healed. The doc said that I should be good to go really soon."

"Oh, I know. I already signed you out but still. I'm going to punch him the next time I see him." I shook my head at him and sighed.

"If you signed me out already then let's go. I want to see my grandparents and catch up with them." I hopped out of bed, changed clothes, and gathered my stuff. I stood by the door waiting for Ryker but when I turned to look at him, he was staring at me like I was the Eighth Wonder of the World.

"What? Why are you just sitting there. Let's go." He blubbered and stuttered before clearing his throat and speaking properly.

"You just got ready in under 3 seconds." I looked at him and then looked at myself. I then looked back at him.

"I wasn't trying to. I just wanted to get out of here. Maybe I'm super fast!"

"Noooo. Really? You sure? I mean, getting ready in under 3 seconds isn't fast at all. In fact, that is slower than slow." He gave me the slanted eye look, the one that looks like the emoji that looks like it is saying 'are you kidding me?' ( -_- ) Yeah, that one.

"No need for the badgering, Sargent Sarcasm."

"Yes, Mam. I just thought that Captain Obvious needed a bit of help. She seems to be slow, Mam!" He stood up straight and saluted me. I shook my head and hit him upside his head.

"Let's go, Joker." I walked out the door and down the hallway not waiting for my idiot of a mate. He ran down the hallway to catch up and then he kept pace with me.

"Awe, is someone upset because they were acting stupid and slow?" I didn't like the tone that he took. It sounded as if he was talking to a 2 year-old.

"One, I'm not two years old so don't talk to me like that. Two, you get to sleep on the couch for the whole visit. And three, if you talk to me like that again, call me stupid, or say I'm slow, I will make you sleep outside for a whole month."

"Yeah, whatever. Sleeping outside is not that bad. I'll just sleep in wolf form."

"Yeah, that would be nice if you could use your wolf form huh? Too bad I'm temporarily taking your wolf form." I snapped my fingers and felt energy zing between both fingers before hitting Ryker and shocking him.

"What?! What did you do?!"

"Who's slow now?" I said smirking. I walked out the front doors and waited for Ryker so he could get whatever car he brought.

"Wait. Seriously, what did you do?"

"Awe, does the poor baby need some help because he is too slow and stupid?" I smirked again and laughed.

"Moon! Come on. I was just joking. I wasn't being serious."

"Well, next time, remember that not everything is a joke. Especially since I have the kind of past that I do. It's not funny. It reminds me of my old pack."

"Shit. Moon. I'm really sorry. I didn't mean-"

"Yeah. It's fine. Just get whatever vehicle you brought so we can leave." I said, looking away from him.

He lingered for a few moments before turning away and getting the car. I stood there, waiting, just watching the clouds slowly make their way across the sky.

A honk brought me out of my peaceful state and back into my hectic life. I walked up to the edge of the curb and got into the car.

"Let's go." He didn't argue with me but instead he sighed and pulled out of the parking lot.

The car ride to my grandparents castle was silent, silent and tense. We didn't talk, didn't listen to music, didn't look at each other. It seemed as if we weren't even breathing.

When we finally pulled up to the castle, I opened the car door ready to get out of that car as soon as possible but I couldn't.

"Wait, Moon I-"

I looked at Ryker's hand on my arm and then looked at him. He let go of my arm and cleared his throat.

"Look, I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking and I was being stupid. I didn't mean anything I said, honest. I just..." He rubbed the back of his neck and shifted in his seat. I heaved a sigh and sat back down.

"I know. I know that you didn't mean it. That doesn't mean that it didn't hurt but I overreacted and I'm sorry too. The wounds are still a bit raw from everything and I'm trying to get over it but...it's hard. Just give me a little more time to adjust to everything and then you can make all the jokes you want." I chuckled and shook my head. I took his hand into mine and gave him a light kiss.

"So, does this mean I get my wolf back?" I laughed and got out of the car. He quickly tried to catch up to me, but I ignored his calls and pleas.

Once I was inside, I tried to find my grandparents but it was a bit tough. I was going to just wait for them to find me, but then I had a brilliant idea. I was still getting used to my powers but the only way to get used to something like this, is to use my powers as often as possible.

I closed my eyes, focused on who I wanted to find and inhaled deeply. My eyes shot open as I smelled my grandparents on the other side of the castle with an unknown sense. I focused quickly, and then ran to the where they were.

I kicked open the door and ran inside. I found my grandparents in the corner of the room with their hands and ankles tied. Their faces were pale with fear and the knowledge that they could die. The man standing above them turned around but I quickly turned invisible and quietly moved closer to them.

I covered my scent and put a force field around my grandparents. Taking careful steps across the room, I made my way right next to my grandparents and in front of the intruder. He was still looking around but shook his head and turned around.

"Where is she?" The man asked, raising his gun.

"We already told you. We don't know." I looked at my grandpa and then back at the man.

"That's bull! I know she is here, in the castle and I'm getting impatient. You know what happens when I get impatient? My hands start twitching and you know, with a gun in hand I'm sure bullets will go flying. A couple might even go your direction on...accident. Accidents happen and there is no telling what could go wrong when an accident happens. Do you want to be caught in an accident, King Damien? Queen Jessanine, what about you? No, I didn't think so which is why you'll tell me where the girl is." The man held the gun and pulled back the trigger slowly.

He didn't have time to shoot though because I made the gun rise into the air and hit him in the head. I then made the gun bend in half, the metal groaning in protest.

"What?! How is this possible?" I showed myself and then used my powers to pin him against the wall.

"Who is looking for me?" His brown hair flopped around and his 5 foot 9 frame dangled a foot above the ground. His white teeth chattered as he chuckled.

"Silly girl. You thought he was dead didn't you? You thought you were safe but you aren't. Beware for he is coming and the numbers that he brings with him are far greater than you can imagine. The witches shall rise once again and your kind will fall, doomed to be slaves for eternity." His carefree laugh turned dark and full of insanity.

I shook my head and transported him to a dungeon in one of my old dimension.

The force field fell and the ropes burned away as I helped them stand up.

"Are you okay?"

"Oh, of course dear." My grandmother shook her head and sighed.

"Yes, indeed we are okay. You, however, may not be." My grandfather walked out of the room and we followed him.

"How did he get you? I mean, you are the King and Queen of the Vampires. I don't understand how a rouge could have gotten you into a room and tied you up without anyone knowing."

"Yes. Yes, it is bizarre indeed. We did not get caught but instead we let him get us."

"Why? Why would you do that instead of fight?" I looked at my grandma trying to figure out their motive.

"We knew he was after you and we figured that if we could find out who sent him then we could handle the situation."

"We thought it was a good idea until he gave your grandmother ropes covered in Wolfs Bane and he tied me up with ropes that were covered in apricum, a certain chemical that acts as sunlight and though Vampires can be in the sunlight, having cuts and things while near sunlight can burn us internally. Hence why he cut my wrists and ankles before tying me up."

"Okay, so did you find out who sent him?"

"No, nothing. All he wanted was to find you." My grandmother didn't seemed surprised by what she said but almost... like she expected it.

"Great. That's just great. I don't know about you guys but I need some fresh air. I'll be in the garden."

I used my speed to get to the water fountain in the garden and sat down on the edge of it. I heard someone gasp and I turned to see a guy my age sitting on the bench staring at me.

When we locked eyes, I felt a bit better. I was confused as to why it felt like I knew him yet I had never seen him before.

"Do I know you?" He looked at me and shook his head.

"No but it feels like we know each other."

"Yeah. It's crazy. Uhh, I'm Moonbeam, born Lunella." I held out my hand and he shook it.

"Luke."

"Nice to meet you. May I ask why you are here, in the castle, sitting in this garden?"

"I'm actually the Princess's fated Satelles but I haven't actually met her yet. The Moon Goddess came to me last night and told me to protect her from everything and anything so here I am. I was just looking for her and I found this spot. I just wanted to sit here for a little while before I continued looking for her. Have you met her? Can you tell me what she is like? I really hope she isn't some stuck up bitch that's been spoiled her whole life because that would bite." I laughed and shook my head. He laughed along too.

"Have I met her? Definitely. What's she like? Well, she's somewhere along the lines of what you were thinking. Bratty. Self-centered. Spoiled. She's lived in a castle her whole life and she's never had to fend for herself. She is picky about everything and will only do what she wants to do."

"Oh my Vampire fangs. This is gonna suck like a fangling. Can you tell me what she looks like so that I know who I'm looking for?"

"She looks a lot like me. People say we could be the same person. So just be on the look out for that."

"Thanks. I'll be sure to do that."

"No problem. Hey, why don't I take you to the Vampire Royals and see if you can find the Princess with them?"

"That's be great! I've always wanted to meet the King and Queen."

"Well, let's go then."

We got to know each other better on the way to my grandparents and I found that Luke is a really down-to-earth, sweet, and funny guy. His brown eyes and brown hair are different from the rest of his blond hair, green-eyed family. His favorite color is orange, like the sunrise and his favorite thing to do is play in the snow.

"Snow huh? Maybe it'll snow sometime soon. Your birthday is tomorrow right?"

"Yeah. Why?"

"Wouldn't it be cool if it snowed tomorrow?"

"That'd be awesome! Sadly, that's not going to happen because winter is three seasons away." I pushed Luke softly and shook my head at his statement.

"Don't be too sure. Amazing things can happen in the Royal Coven." We laughed and headed into the conference room where my grandparents, my Satelles, and Ryker were.

Ryker immediately stood up and ran over when he saw Luke with his arm around my shoulders. He pushed me behind him and growled at Luke. My Satelles all got up and stood next to Ryker growling and snarling. Luke showed his fangs and hissed at them.

I shook my head and walked over to my grandparents. I stood next to them and watched as my pack and Luke face off.

"Enough! There is no time for stupid rivalries. Who are you?" My grandfather boomed, annoyed by the stare off.

"I'm Luke Wayworth, fated Satelles of the Princess, your granddaughter."

"Ah! Welcome, Luke. It is nice to meet you. Please sit down so that we may continue the discussion that we were having before this little situation occurred." I laughed at my grandmother's choice of words and shook my head.

Everyone sat back down except for Ryker. Ryker came over to me, buried his face in my neck and growled. He hugged me from behind and looked at Luke.

"Mine!" He growled and bared his teeth. Luke hissed and showed his fangs.

"Stupid, Wolf. I already have my beloved. Moonbeam was just leading me here so that I could finally meet the princess but it doesn't seem like she's here." He looked around at everyone and looked at me confused.

Everyone started laughing and we didn't stop until it hurt too much to laugh.

"What's so funny? I don't understand." Ryker looked at Luke and shook his head.

"Dude, come on. Are you serious? You really don't know?"

"Know what?" I looked at Ryker and shook my head.

"He doesn't know. I didn't tell him."

"Know what?"

"Why didn't you tell him?" Calypso asked.

"It was interesting to hear what he thought the Princess is like." I shrugged.

"Wow. You must be slow if you haven't figured it out now, Man." Catus laughed with his arm draped around Calypso's shoulders.

"Can I tell him because I want to see his reaction when he finds out?" Adis laughed at the thought and I nodded at him.

"If you really want to Adis, you can."

"Yes! Okay dude. What do you know about the Princess?" Adis turned to look at Luke.

"Well, she looks like Moonbeam, she is extremely spoiled, a complete bitch to everyone and she doesn't know anything about the real world." Everyone looked at him as if he were stupid while I just chuckled.

"Seriously, Moon? That's what you told him?" Tekkon asked.

"Eh, he already thought that, I just went along with it. I did tell him the 'looks like me' part but I thought hat was a good enough hint for him to figure it out."

"Do you guys always talk in code or is it just me?" Luke looked around and shook his head.

"Okay, listen up, dude. Moonbeam is in this room. Why is that?" Adis looked at Luke expectantly.

"She knows the King, Queen, and Princess for some reason."

"And who does the princess look like?"

"She looks like Moonbeam."

"Now, who do you think is the Princess?" Adis looked at him, waiting for a reaction. Luke's eyes went wide and his mouth dropped.

"Exactly. Now do you understand?" Catus asked.

"Yeah. The princess is...."

"Yes, keep going." Adis urged him.

"The princess is...your twin sister!" Everyone looked at Luke with 'WTF' faces and shook their heads.

"My mate is the Princess you dimwit. Are you sure he's your fated Satelles?" Ryker looked at me from over my shoulder.

"Yeah. He's my fated Satelles. Why? What's so important about the title?"

"There is only one fated Satelles per Royal. Luke is your main protector and is basically like your Beta." My grandpa explained while looking wearily at Luke.

"Oh! Wow. So, everything I thought about you was completely wrong and I also called you all those things to your face. Ugh, I'm such an idiot."

"It's okay, Luke. You didn't know. Plus, it was funny to hear all the things your friends and all the rest of the Vampire community thinks of me."

"Yeah....sorry. If I had known I-"

"Wouldn't have told me. Which is why I didn't want you to know. I want to know how people really see me. Now that I know, I'm going to make sure I change what people think of me. In fact, we can visit your family and friends tomorrow for your birthday."

"Seriously?!"

"Yeah, why?"

"Well, I was told that I would never get to see my family, friends, or beloved again."

"Who told you that?"

"....A gaurd."

"Well they were wrong. Anyways, let's move on. What's up?" I looked at my grandparents and they nodded.

"We are making security tighter. Installing alarms that can only be accessed from the inside, locking all the windows and doors, making sure all glass openings are bullet-proof glass, and we want someone with you at all times. I guess that'll be Ryker and when he's gone, it'll be Luke."

"Okay, what about us? Why are we here?" Catus asked.

"I want you all to keep an eye out for any suspicious things, people, actions, anything. If you see anything, report it to me the minute it happens. We can't afford to have traitors now. We are also doing all the same changes over at your parents' castle. I've already spoken to your mother and she said she will make sure everything goes as planned. "

"That it?" Adis asked.

"For now. Keep your eyes open and be ready for anything." We all nodded and headed out.

Luke caught up to me and Ryker and walked with us.

"So, what time do you want to leave tomorrow?"

"How long does it take to get there?"

"An hour maybe."

"Let's leave at 6 then."

"Sounds like a plan." All three of us continues chatting about random things. I looked around every so often. I felt as if someone was watching us.

"You okay?" Ryker asked.

"Yeah. Yeah. It's nothing." They shrugged and continued walking. I disregarded my suspicions and joined their conversation. All I could think about was tomorrow and how it would go.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"They are going to be away from all the security tomorrow. They leave at 6, just the two of them."
"Good. Keep an eye on them. We almost lost her once, we can't afford to do that again."
Sorry for the long wait. I've been out of town for a while.
Question of the day: Who do you think is after Moonbeam?
