Chapter 11

Moonbeam's POV

It's been three days since I found out that my closest friends and family wanted me dead. Three days since I met my mate and Satelles. Three days since we had been running.

I didn't know where we were going but my instincts told me that we needed to be somewhere. I followed my instincts and after three days of running, we could finally rest. We stopped just before a pack border. I sniffed out the area and howled loudly, making sure that this pack's patrol could hear me.

I then kept running. I pushed my wolf to run as fast as she could. The wind was flying through my fur and I felt like I wasn't even touching the ground. I could hear my Satelles running not far behind me and soon enough, so were other wolves. They growled and snarled but we didn't stop running. I just ran faster and faster.

It felt like de-ja-vu, like I had experienced this already. I kept running through the forest before I broke into a clearing. I slowed down and sat down on my hind legs in the middle of the clearing waiting for everyone to catch up to me. My mate, Ryker, broke through the bushes first and stopped just in front of me. He turned towards the sound of paws beating against the forest floor and crouched down, ready to attack if necessary.

Calypso, Catus, Adis and Tekkon broke through the bushes next and formed a circle around me. They put their back to me and kept me in the middle so that I was protected from any danger.

Soon, more wolves came into the clearing, all pack wolves, and formed a circle around the clearing to make sure we couldn't escape. Catus growled at the fact that we were surrounded, Tekkon gave a deep and ferocious snarl when any of the pack wolves tried to step closer to us. Calypso simply stood on guard and Adis watched all of them carefully.

The pack wolves backed off all of a sudden when a silver wolf walked calmly into the clearing. All of the pack wolves bowed their heads as the silver wolf walked closer to us. My small pack growled at the silver wolf but I barked at them.

'Back off. He's not a threat.' I told them using the mind link.

'How do you know he's not going to hurt you?' Ryker asked.

'Ryker, just trust me and stand down.' He nodded and stood up from his defensive position. My pack opened up the circle as the silver wolf came closer still. Once the silver wolf stood in front of me, he shifted. Surprisingly, he shifted with all of his clothes on.

The man before me stood at about 6 feet 4 inches. He had brown hair and red eyes with a green ring around them. He looked to be around 20 years old. He stared at me for about five minutes before speaking.

"Are you not going to shift in front of your prince?" His voice held a lot of power in it but not enough to scare me. I shook my head and snorted at him.

"I was nice the first time I asked but I am not a patient man. Shift wolf!" I stared at him again and snorted.

'How about you say please and then I shift?' I got into his head and told him. He stared at me incredulously and shook his head.

"Fine. Please shift." He said more politely than the first two times and I nodded in approval. I then shifted and looked down just to make sure I had shifted with my clothes on...I did.

"What is your name?" He asked.

"My name is Moonbeam." He looked at me for a few moments as if waiting for me to say something else before he sighed and shook his head.

"What's your last name?" He asked me and I scrunched up my nose.

"I don't have one. I don't belong to a family so I don't have a last name." He looked curious but he didn't ask about the details.

"Okay. Then what were your intentions of signalling my guards and then running through my territory?"

"To warn you that we were here so you wouldn't be as off-guard."

"Do you know who's land you are on?" I looked at him and then nodded.

"Judging from the fact that you called yourself the prince, I'm guessing this is the Royal Pack's territory."

"Yes, and for crossing into our territory without asking permission is a sufficient enough reason to have you sentenced to your death." My Satelles growled and snarled at that. Ryker jumped in front of me and growled at the prince.

"Ryker it's fine. I'll be fine. We've gotten this far, I'm sure everything will be okay." Ryker's ears were flat against his head and his belly was close to the ground. He still growled at the prince and the prince raised his eyebrows.

"Well, well. What do we have here?" He pointed at Ryker and two of his wolves attacked him. I screamed and tried to warn him but he didn't see them in time to protect himself. One wolf, a brown one, jumped on top of Ryker while the other wolf ran straight into Ryker's side. Ryker couldn't hold up their weight and he fell to the ground. Both of the wolves started to tear at his fur. You could here the sounds of teeth ripping through flesh, and flesh being ripped off of bone. Ryker's whines were the thing that set me off.

My vision went red and I felt my wolf coming out but I pushed her down. I looked at the two wolves and used my powers to throw them against a tree. They flew off of Ryker and flew in opposite directions until they hit a tree. I built a force-field around Ryker and my pack so that no one could hurt us anymore. I ran to Ryker and fell on my knees next to him.

His usually beautifully light brown hair was now dark with his blood. He had several deep wounds and his eyes were barely open.

"Ryker? I need you to keep your eyes open okay? You are going to be okay, you are going to be fine." My voice wavered as the tears poured out of my eyes. I couldn't lose him after I just got him.

'It's okay, Love. Don't be sad.' He mind linked me and gave a weak wolf smile. It broke my heart even more and the tears came faster.

"Ryker, you are going to be fine. You need to be okay. I can't lose you, I just got you!" He whined and lifted his paw to my cheek. He couldn't shift or he would die for sure. He was too weak.

'You'll be okay without me, Love. It'll all be over soon and I won't be in pain anymore.' He said through the mind link. I felt the mate connection between us waiver and it scared me so much.

"Don't leave me, Ryker. You can't." I tried to scream but my voice caught in my throat and more tears poured out. I heard my packs whines and wolf-cries behind me which broke me even more.

'I love you.' The connection became weaker and weaker. Ryker's eyes closed and his breathing became shallow.

"NO! RYKER! Stay with me, please."

Let me take over.

I let Gleam take over and watched as she placed her hands on him, one hand on his head and the other hand on his side. She began to chant softly as she closed her eyes.

"Luna dea anima innocens salvum fecit nisi velit bonum. Sana animam et secundum corpus. (Moon Goddess, please save this innocent soul for he has done nothing but good. Please heal his soul and body.)" She chanted softly over and over. Our hands started to glow gold and the glow soon spread over Ryker's body until he was encased in the glow. The golden glow seemed to seep into is wounds and I could see them healing. First his flesh, and then his fur started to grow back. Once his wounds were healed, the glow started to retract back into my hands. When the glow disappeared, Gleam gave me control back and I just stared at Ryker's body to see if his soul had been healed. He took a deep breath and shifted back to his human before opening his eyes. He looked around and then his gaze locked on me. He smiled and gave a weak chuckle.

"I told you it would be over soon." I gave a watery chuckle and then hugged him to me. I wrapped my arms around him tight, not caring that he had shifted and wasn't wearing any clothes. The pack howled and jumped around us, happy that their pack mate was okay.

"Don't scare me like that again. I thought you were going to leave me." He hugged me back just as tight and buried his head in my neck.

"Well, I'm here now and I'll be damned if I ever leave you by yourself." We hugged for a little while longer before I pulled away and stood up. I made a t-shirt, boxers, and basketball shorts appear on Ryker.

"Thanks Love." Ryker said as he stood up. He put his arms around my waist and hugged me from behind.

"No problem." I waved his apology off before I turned to look at the wolf prince.

"You almost killed my mate for no reason and so I challenge you." Everyone gasped except for the prince. He stared at me and then laughed.

"Fine. This will be over in minutes though." I smirked at his ignorance and nodded. He took off his shirt and I stepped out of the force-field not letting anyone else in or out of the force-field.

We circled each other for a few minutes until he made the first move. He ran head on at me, but at the last second I stepped to the side and tripped him. He lost his footing but quickly gained his balance again and turned sharply to glare at me. He ran at me again but this time he jumped over me and landed behind me. Before I could turn around, he hit me and I felt a sharp pain in my back. I turned around and gave him a round-house kick to the face. He stumbled back and fell to the ground. I ran at him and slammed my foot down on his chest. He wheezed as the air got knocked out of him and he gasped for air. I straddled him and punched him in the face. I felt the skin on my knuckles crack and start to bleed but I didn't care. I kept punching him in the face and in the stomach.

I stopped after about 20 punches because I didn't want to hurt him too bad for some reason. I heard growls of anger from his pack and growls of victory from mine. His pack wolves started to advance on me and I turned my head to look at them.

I heard a gasp come from the prince but I wrote it off as him trying to get his breath back. The wolves kept advancing and growling at me. They bared their teeth as their haunches lifted and their ears went flat against their heads.

"W-wait. St-stop. Don-don't atta-attack." The prince said still trying to get his breath back. The wolves stopped and everyone looked at him. Once he drew in a few more breaths, his breathing evened out and he looked at me.

"Can you let me up please?" I stood up slowly but kept my eyes on him the whole time.

"Why did you call them off?" I don't understand why he would be okay with having his wolves attack my mate but not me.

"Because, you are my sister." Growls and snarls erupted from both pack and my pack tried to get out of the force-field. I kept them inside and shook my head at the prince.

"I already fell for this once, I'm not going to fall for this again."

"I know it's hard to get your mind around but you are my sister. You are the long lost princess." I shook my head and let the force-field around my pack fall.

"I'm not in the mood to listen to more lies so my pack and I will be leaving." I motioned my pack to follow me but the Royal Pack wolves growled at us and wouldn't let us pass.

"Just hear me out. That birth mark right in front of your left ear, the one shaped like a heart, is the birthmark that only Royals have. Mine is on my wrist. See?" He showed me his wrist and low-and-behold, there it was in all its glory, a heart shaped birthmark almost identical to the one I had.

"When I was four years old, we were ambushed by a group of rogues. My mother and father ran outside and led our pack in the fight while I grabbed my little sister into my arms and went to the safe room. However, one of the maids came up to me and told me that my parents told her to watch over my little sister. Of course, being the naive little four-year-old that I was, I put my one-month-old sister into this lady's arms. When she had you securely in her arms, she told me to go to my safe room while she would take you to yours. I didn't question her and I locked myself in my safe room. When the battle was over and we had won, my parents came and brought me out of my safe room. They asked me where my little sister was and I told them that I had given you to the maid that they had sent. They started to panic and ordered everyone to start searching for you. I asked them what was wrong and their answer was 'We didn't send a maid for your sister.' I've regretted that moment for so long. I had been the cause of your kidnapping. I had handed you over without question. We looked for you for years but we never found you. We have been looking for you for all these years and you have finally come to us when we needed you the most. We almost lost hope but you've finally come home." I looked into his sad eyes and saw tears welling up in his eyes.

'Gleam?'

He speaks the truth. I have known for a while but I didn't think you were ready to know. It also wasn't my decision to tell you or not, it was the Fates' decision.

'Okay. I'll want to know more later but thanks for the confirmation.'

I turned to look at my pack and they were looking at me already, wondering what I was thinking and what my next move was.

"He is telling the truth." Howls of glee and barks of approval sounded from everyone in the clearing.

"Let's go tell Mom and Dad that you came home." The prince said. I nodded and smiled.

"Wolf Prince, if it is okay, I would like to bring my pack with me." The Prince looked at my pack and they all held their breaths. After what seemed like forever, he smiled and nodded.

"Your pack can come and by the way, you can call me Eric or if you would like.....brother?" He seemed hesitant but I could tell that he was hoping I would chose the latter. I laughed at him and shook my head happily.

"Let's go home, Bro." His lips pulled back into a big smile and he threw his arm around my shoulder. Ryker growled at that and Eric stepped back raising his hands in surrender. My mate smiled satisfied and put his arm where Eric's had been only moments ago.

"To the castle!" I yelled and pointed. Everyone laughed and we started our trip to the Royal castle.

'Wow. Today has been interesting. I wonder what else the Fates have in store for me.' I thought while walking down the dirt trail, paws and footprints being left behind us as we walked towards my new old home.
